Dazzling Silver

I'm obsessed with this perfume! It goes on with a sharp blast from the aldehydes right away, but then immediately dries down to where I can smell the green and the lily. From further away it smells sharply clean and fresh, but the closer you get the more it smells floral and sweet. Such a unique profile, and I can really see the “ice queen” comparison I’ve seen people make. If you are not into sharp, almost bitterly clean notes you probably won’t like this one. But if aldehydes and white florals tend to wear well on you, this is absolutely a superstar.

Oh, Dazzling Silver, how different you are! Full of strange, sharp allure this scent bubbles and strikes with its icy, clear, sharp vitriol. When I wore this I used to wake up the whole world with me! It truly shines too bright and neonic, but what a glorious, wild shine. It IS metallic, the scent is of glass shards and tilted frozen flowers and water under that thin spring ice. I wish I had it now! A VERY cerebral scent indeed.

This smells so unique nothing I have ever smelled even comes close too Dazzling Silver. This is a masterpiece I love it so much. One of the best from Lauder sadly it’s been discontinued and it cost a fortune on EBay... I miss DS.

I hadn't smelled this fragrance in a long time until coming across a full bottle in a local thrift shop. I was immediately surprised at how much I liked it. I wore it a number of times this past winter and spring and quite enjoyed it.' It's green. It's clean,the florals are crisp and lovely. It's just a tad sweet with the cedar balancing the florals. Overall, I think it's the musk that keeps it from being an over the top ice queen. The ice queen effect is appealing to me, but then it finally dawned on me that this scent reminds me quite a bit of vintage Estee Super Parfum, a love from the 70's. It has many of the same qualities including that screeching opening. If I didn't have a huge bottle of this I wouldn't hesitate to buy it if the price was right. It's so nice to wear a notable scent that will stand apart from most of the crowd!

If you love white florals that are lush and classic, then this is a star! ⭐️ I love Dazzling Gold for late summer early fall, that her season that she smells the most amazing in. Dazzling Silver shines bright in warm spring weather. I can’t find affordable perfume bottles anymore. I did find the perfume oil of each. I found them in Amazon awhile back. I suggest searching up the perfume oil if you want to try this at an affordable price. They sell these in big bottles for under $20. Well worth it. You can always buy perfumers alcohol and empty perfume spray bottles and make the oils into spray perfumes if you prefer that.

I don't know what to make of Dazzling Silver. It was blind buy for me, based on the ooohhhs and aaaahhhs in most of the reviews, but it doesn't really rock my world. It starts with a very pleasant and slightly metallic floral rush, but then there's a mid-note that evolves that reminds me of honey or nectar ... and it's not pleasant to my nose. Three times now I've sprayed this one on, only to later scrub it off when the honey sets in. Weird. It must be time to put it away for a little rest and retry another time.

I remember this one!! I remember liking it and it's sister, Dazzling Gold as well. Unfortunately, I never managed to buy a bottle of either one. I was too busy wearing White Linen. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it reminded me of something from my childhood. This is really strange, but the smell of Dazzling Silver reminds me of Ammens medicated body powder. My father used to use that powder, and I remember our bathroom would smell like Ammens powder. What an unusual scent memory!!

Although I didn't repeat buy, I will never forget DS for instantly bringing to mind the exact image and smell of a stone doorstep, drenched in rain, hidden by an overgrown garden and leading to a neglected house. This was a version in around 2003. I can still vividly 'see' that stone doorstep, and it made me realise how utterly clever perfumery can be even if the images it conjures up weren't the perfumer's intention. So - summer rain, stone, greenery, even some drenched flowers.

Try Cartier Baiser Vole EDP, it will remind you Dazzling a lot ! Cartier is a tad more expensive It's being sold everywhere 1/2 of it's original price. This one was my favorite about 12 years ago. I remember it's smell very well. I thought it was unique, light, pretty fragrance. Slightly metallic, cold and simultaneously sweet notes is what I am looking for in other fragrances, but can not find. Cartier is a warmer fragrance of good quality.

Very pleasant fragrance that is ideal for work, fresh and elegant with soft dry-down like those of Calvin Klein's Truth...Dazzling Gold with its typical Lauder notes, but very moderately, while Dazzling Silver can surprise you as it is outside Lauder range. But I love it. Not looking for the perfect perfume, because it is really difficult to single out only the one.This perfume would be among my top 20.

When I tried this in winter, I hated it and washed it off after bearing with it for about 15 minutes. It's summer now (in NZ) and I thought I'll brave testing it now .....and I like it. It's quite refreshing and no metallic note but instead I can detect a freshly washed laundry note.

My aunt gave it to me as a gift... I was totally new to the frag. I was really impressed with it. Really a feminine and classy perfume, lasting power amazing. It does make an impression.I loved this one; it's a shame it's discontinued.

This fragrance opens with moonlight shining on creaking arctic ice... and then... these strange, artificial floral notes start shrieking at you!! It really does dazzle, and I like it!!!

Today, I am revisiting my original manufacturer's sample of Dazzling Silver from 1998. Back in 1998, I remember having little love for this one (in fact, I even *disliked* it a bit), and ended up adoring (and purchasing) a full bottle of its sister perfume, Dazzling Gold, instead; Dazzling Silver seemed, at the time, a bit too cold and aloof to me, and I tucked my sample of Silver away in the back of a dark vanity drawer. How do I perceive it now, roughly 25 years later? The first thing to hit my nose was a very distinct impression of lily-of-the-valley. (OK, I'm officially baffled; I adore the smell of those fragile little bell-shaped flowers! I've loved them since I was a kid. So, *why* did I dislike this perfume so much when it first came out?) After about 15 minutes, it evolves, and becomes less LOTV and more actual lily, complete with its large, white, waxy petals. So far, not so bad. I can handle lilies. The listed notes don't necessarily evolve in order on me. After the lily blooms, I get a vague hint of an almost-but-not-quite pickle, yet still woody, vibe (which, on *very rare* occasion, appears on my skin when sandalwood is listed as a note). The "pickle" scent never quite reaches that "deal-breaker" level in this composition, though. It's barely perceptible, it's still woody, and it calms down after about 20 minutes, leaving more lilies in its wake. I doubt *that* note was what turned me off so many years ago, because I didn't have enough experience to detect it back then, much less describe it. And then... enter the aldehydes. Based upon the notes pyramid, I would have expected these to show up right away, but no -- they sashayed into the room, fashionably late to the party, champagne glass in hand. At that point, they began to dominate the composition. Combined with the musk in the base, they altered the fragrance from "something floral" to "something vaguely clean and laundry-like and powdery." The lilies gradually faded as the hours passed, much to my dismay. Aha! This must have been the deal-breaker for me back in the late 1990s! For, while Dazzling Gold exuded floral, tropical warmth throughout the day, Dazzling Silver teased me up front with the promise of LOTV, but eventually steered me in the direction of aldehydes and laundry musk in the drydown. In comparing the two, Silver still feels more "cool" and less accessible to me. However, it's not a "bad" or poorly-made fragrance; quite the opposite, in fact. It's beautiful in its own way -- it's just not quite "at home" on my skin. This could be a stunner on someone else, and it's a solid example of what mainstream perfumes were a quarter-century ago. While this experiment did not change my mind about which fragrance I prefer, it did shed more light on the "why" behind my preferences. That alone was worth an afternoon of experimentation!

Dazzling Silver is another modern Estee Lauder fragrance in a bundle of samplers I recently bought. Whomever had these frags before me was a real EL fan, same as me. DS is definitely a new, modern style scent, light yet strong and aldehyde notes to the max. There's a note I can't identify, but some of the modern EL scents have it. It's a powerful, almost herby note, sharpish like yarrow, slightly bitter. This note dominates the scent for hours. I dislike it intensely, and therefore DS goes on my no thanks list. As I get more familiar with EL perfumes it becomes obvious how much I prefer the vintage scents like Youth Dew and Cinnabar. Their lovely spicy and balsamic notes envelop me in softness, while the harsher light notes of the modern EL scents tend to grate. I don't mean to imply that Dazzling Silver is a bad frag. It's well made, but it isn't great. The fragrance reminds me of Pleasures, another modern pale EL scent. DS is a powerful perfume, but too much like many other modern frags, which is not what I want from an Estee Lauder scent. I can understand that a fragrance maker will follow popular trends, but in the case of modern EL frags the choices have been disappointing.

After trying Dazzling Gold I thought maybe Silver might be lighter. I was wrong.... Dazzling Silver is so concentrated with Cedar and Iris' or some sort of wet petal business it reminds me of Beyond Paradise by EL which is a terrible perfume. Again, another scent that comes across like a bowl of random flower petals and rubbing alcohol was left in the sun to ferment for weeks and then bottled. It gave me a headache.

I found a sample bottle of this at a thrift store. It reminds me so much of Pleasures. Maybe even a bit like White Linen too. Floral and soapy. The detergent note stings my nose. And I think there’s mint or camphor in here. This is too sharp for my skin but I think my mom will love it.

No. Pleasant for 2 or 3 minutes. Then some too loud,shreeking,loud,ugly,synthetic and loud ugly perfume smell comes forward and you are done. Why do you think it did not sell? Alas, it smells mostly of stinky "perfume", the death knell.

Well...I can't really stand this one. My Mom has it and I tried it once. It's just too much for my nose. The sharp green notes I can't even describe. Too 'dazzling', not for me.

I finally mustered up the courage to test the various unused Estee Lauder purse sprays and perfume minis in my collection (having suffered a revulsive Pavlovian experience with INTUITION now quite some time ago...), and DAZZLING SILVER is first in line. To my great surprise, DAZZLING SILVER (1998) is very similar to Moschino CHEAP & CHIC (1995). I'm not saying that Evelyn intentionally plagiarized, but the similarities are patent. Both have a fairly big opening reminiscent of BULGARI POUR FEMME, and both culminate in a pleasant, wearable powdery floral drydown. In the case of DAZZLING SILVER, magnolia, orchid, and rose are all present. It looks as though DAZZLING SILVER is still in production--though I haven't seen any advertisements in years--but it's quite a bit more expensive than the Moschino, so if I decide one day that I'd like to add this particular scent to my wardrobe, I'll buy the Moschino instead. For now, it's not very compelling. Nor, however, is it a scrubber, which I have found cannot generally be taken for granted. DAZZLING SILVER, like CHEAP & CHIC, seems to be a very synthetic composition, so it's just a matter of personal chemistry that I am not in this particular case driven to the bath...

It's very much a winter scent, strictly for winter. Originally I want something metallic for a scent that smells "chill" for the summer. Saw the review below and decided to blind buy a small bottle. First spray under 33 degree Celsius humid sunny day, every molecules mush together and create this nauseating aged powdery sharpness, much like what my grandma smells like. Not in any way I would associate "fresh" and "cold" with it. But then I enter a room with AC on, it does separate each note to its own channel and create a much better overall experience. I still wouldn't say it's fresh or icy or chill. It's just much sharper of a floral scent with a piercing metallic note up front, and that awful strong cedar in the back makes it akin to the experience of attending a funeral. It's very long lasting for sure, and it's classy for sure. Only with each strong character it is, it's even more depressing.

I think Dazzling Silver is successful for the same reason that No 5 is. They both play with the notion of a flower or a bouquet of flowers using floral references, then add something else entirely. For No 5, these references are famously from actual botanicals, ie. Chanel’s own rose & jasmine harvests. For DS, I image the floral references are more chemically derived. To this floral understructure, they both then add heavy doses of aromachemicals that are recognizable more for their specific nose-tones or qualities rather than for their floral reference. No 5’s famous aldehydes, DS’s helional. In both cases, floral is the start, not the goal.

In my opinion this is one of the lost great lauders. it's definitely one of the most weird and gorgeous you can find on the counter, and as a bonus never became very popular so you won't smell it in everyone in the crowd. I t starts deliciously green and piercing. Then the floral part unfolds and it's one of the most unusual i've ever encountered. It's simply fantastic. Unusual, sweet and heady. The drydown is a fresh berry-vanilla, but not of the guerlain-ish french manner, more of the all-american crisp cotton shirt, lauder-style!BRAVO!

Cold,hypnotic, weird with a massive scent throw. The world stopped the first time I smelt Dazzling Silver. It smells so good on me that I actually feel sinful and nervous wearing it. Most people hate it. I do believe this sent was made for me alone. If I could buy 100 bottles and store it safely in a time warp I would. Since it has been discontinued I miss the look on peoples faces when I enter a room and they smell the impossible to resist soury air around me. I need my Dazzling Silver to feel like myself again.

I adore this one! I read a review that referred to it as lilies scrubbed in a stainless steel sink, make that a silver sink and I'll agree with you. Opulent and clean and a little cold, Dazzling Silver fills the air with a complex bouquet centered on lilies but spiked with muguet and lotus with just enough sandalwood to put a woody pedestal under all those flowers in sterling. Gorgeous, gorgeous. The only think I might tamp down is the aldehydes in the opening, but the overall effect is grand

I'll admit it, I used to detest this when I first tried it. It wasn't exactly my idea of a 'good smelling perfume'. But now, I do appreciate it for its uniqueness. Sharp, clean, cold floral. And sometimes a scent like this is exactly what you would need on a hot summer's day. It also really, really reminds me of Tommy Girl, which is an old favourite. Both have the clean, sharp floral and slightly green feel about them.

I tried the gold and the Silver and purchased the two minatures at thrift shop of all places. Im glad I bought the minatures and not the full bottles sight unseen (which I have a bad habit of doing all the time) because Im not too keen of either of these scents. Estee Lauder is not one of my favorite designers in the least im finding as time goes on.

I don't like this at all, it gives me headache and nauseating kind of feeling. It's so strong and sharp and I seriously can't stand it. It is long lasting and the sillage is great but oh no, that's not what I wanted it to be. to say dislike may be too mild, so the bottom line is that I really really hate Dazzling Silver.

I had a bottle of Dazzling once. Whenever I wore it, I would get a remark ' hey, what are u wearing , you smell so nice'. This is one of my EL fav. Its not too overpowering, totally unique and in its own league. I agree with JB78, I don't understand why they stopped it. Its such a shame.

i never tried it b4...but dis evening my customer came to d shop n purchase dis one perfume...in a blink of n eye..d moment she know we had dis fragrances she immideatly say.."ok..i want to purchase dis"...she like it very much...to bad we dont have the tester...we only have the stock...

I love this one on paper, but on, is another story. I don't know if it is the cedar or green notes, but it is just pungent and bitter on me. I have tried several times to like it and I can't get past it. Dazzling Gold is much better.

I am totally with iluvsmelies on this one. This perfume makes me feel nauseous the instant I sniff it. I need say no more, she says it all below.

I've had this one for over 6 or more years. It's a winter perfume but I perfer to wear it at night because it's just that strong.

Yuck. Has a painful metallic undercurrent that makes me wrinkle my nose.

Cold, metallic, and gorgeous. Reminds me of a snow queen.
