Intuition for Men

This is most ‘comforting’ fragrance of all that I know. Sometimes I put it on my wrist just to relieve anxiety or bitter feelings. I hope it will never disappear - I would miss it very much. In my opinion- it is very masculine, with complete acceptance that it is endlessly gentle and warm - which is, in essence, a woman.. Everything about this perfume - including design of flacon and name - is just meaningful and exact. I love perfumes, I buy many - expensive and cheap; I spend time, when chance, at the counters; I discuss them with friends; I read.. it took long time for me to start recognizing and be able to separate ingredients in formulations (and I am far from being confident).. I do recognize though, without doubt, an Amber as the center of this masterpiece- Amber in its best possible presentation. I believe authors of this perfume chose ingredients in order to create a most beautiful and true version of Amber: cucumber to bring out more of sunlit feeling, incense to give a hint of smokiness, myrrh and raisins to add sweetness that rather mysterious and deep here, woods - to reincarnate the origins of Amber. It is interesting that the stone ‘Amber’ never gets cold - you can put it in refrigerator and it still will be warm to touch.. people wear Amber (as a jewelry stone) to alleviate migraines and to calm children.. I’d like to share a folklore tail from Baltic Sea area about Amber-stone - somehow it completely resonates with the affect this perfume causes: On a floor of Baltic Sea once was a castle, built of golden stone -glowing with light of the Sun. Young princess, Amber, daughter of King of Northern Seas, lived there.. she was kind, beautiful; seemed, when she smiled- the walls of her castle would glow brighter, as if stone was responding to her feelings.. One day Amber disobeyed her strict father - she came out to open Sea during storm that her father created.. she saw drowning ship.. she did something forbidden - she saved a young sailor from that ship, hid him and cared after him till he recovered.. she fell in love with him, with mortal man.. her father got furious when he found that his daughter saved life of a sailor. He attempted to kill him - throwing lightning bolts, sending crushing waves.. Amber tried to escape with her beloved in her castle.. Blinded by madness King of Sea threw the lightning into it.. daughter shielded her man by herself and died saving him for the second time.. castle was shattered in pieces.. King of Sea, when he realized what he had done, got horrified and broken.. he went away - deep to cold seas. All that sailor was left with - few golden stones in his hands.. they were warm and they would glow every time he called name of woman he loved - Amber - and somehow it was soothing his aching heart. Up to these days people come to Baltic Sea to look for Amber - remains of princess’ castle. So this perfume for me - reflects that story: made for man, “sailor”, and carries woman in its heart - Amber. 10/10 if there’s numbers to involve. Projection, longevity, etc. - according to the nature of ingredients (which are really high quality in this perfume) - nothing to “kill” with, needs re-applying.. not for “all occasions” and not complimenting all images we need to undertake - but that would be silly to expect from any perfume! Just 10/10. Thanks.

At my EL counter, there is a spiral-bound book with all the fragrances she has ever made, pictures of the bottles and all the notes. (why can't every company do that?) This one is considered a "solar woody" scent. I could not agree more... Intuition (the subtle knowing by feeling) has always been something ascribed to women. I am glad someone realised men have it too, and immortalised it with a fragrance. This will be my next Estee Lauder FB purchase! This not your typical mens fragrance here. It is built around amber, yes, so it is warm and smooth throughout its development; but this does some interesting things. It begins airy and fresh with just a hint of flowers and some lovely spiciness, not unlike a warm spring day! The heart is more earthy with the patchouli and cedar but the apple keeps it from getting too heavy and gives it a subtle sexiness that is neither too tart nor too juicy...amazing! The drydown is absolutely divine. Labdanum, myrrh and incense make it exotic and sensual with no overpowering muskiness. The inclusion of raisins in the base made me raise an eyebrow, but it works. The dried fruit makes it subtle and different while continuing to be utterly sweet, but nowhere near cloying or gourmand. A very well-blended and extremely enticing aroma, this fragrance takes freshness, spiciness, fruits and earthy oriental notes and combines them in a way that is at once sheer yet strong. A must have...for me, anyway! Sillage: good Longevity: above average Overall: 4.25/5 I love Beyond Paradise for Men because it is SO different; but, this might be the best EL mens scent there is! I could kick myself for all the times I walked past the Lauder counter to go and spend more money at the mens "designer" counter, and these beautiful scents were right behind me cheaper and (in some cases) much better! Live and learn...

Lots of sage in the opening. Intuition starts off with an unusual freshness in that it has no citrus. The cucumber seems to take the place of light topnotes such as bergamot that one would expect in a masculine scent. The cardamom and nutmeg are not spicy in the usual holiday potpourri way those spices can sometimes have. They are just vibrant and warm. The opening is good, but my favorite part is the heart. Once some of the cucumber dries off, a wonderful singed smell like a freshly starched and ironed shirt becomes noticeable. What is that? Is it the marigold – they always have an antiseptic, clean smell. Whatever it is, I love that part. Feels so clean and comfortable, like a favorite shirt. The drydown is warm amber and patchouli, but that twangy starched shirt smell never completely goes away. This is totally wearable and comforting. I can see any man wearing this, from a teenager to an older man. It just smells clean, relaxed, and approachable without being overbearing or trying too hard. Love it. Four noses worked on it? I don't know who deserves credit, but Intuition for Men beats some of the expensive Creed scents I have tried.

It is spring and I can wear this again! This cologne has a fascinating composition. It is quite different to anything else, and to me, seems very modern and progressive for the age of it. I haven’t smelt anything else like it or seen anything on here with such an interesting composition. This cologne is all about the amber. Throughout all the other changes over the course of wearing of it, the amber interacts beautifully with everything else. In the first thirty minutes the amber and apple dominate, it is a fresh, yet warming beginning. Then it mellows to include the cucumber and marigold. Then it settles to a mix of amber, incense, cedar, raisin and cardamom beauty. This is an amazing mix that is the highlight of this gem. It is balmy and sweet, but it has its moments of freshness from the cucumber. As I’ve said before, what I love about this cologne is it is perfect for spring, between warm days and cool nights. It’s uncommon too. Does stay close to the skin and isn’t something that will permeate your clothes for days. Lasts about 8 hours for me. Scent: 5/5 Silage: 3/5 Longevity: 3.5/5 Total: 11.5/15

Yeah, I think it's a done deal for Intuition. The only 100% TRUE 4-season fragrance I have in my 30-ish bottle collection. Intuition is, for me, that fragrance that may not be your absolute favorite, yet you go for a spray one day and you've drained far more than you would've expected. I understand folks who say its airy nature isn't sturdy enough for Winter, but I'm not the type to spend those days outside, anyways, and Intuition is a nice fit for climate controlled environments. Outside of powerful performance, Intuition offered value for just about anybody at any time. Scanning the comments, I'd be another one who echoes the sentiments that this is a comfort bomb, and that you will find the people who love you most will always be leaning in for more of it...not a bad duo of attributes. Intuition will be missed, saw a bottle at Ross a couple months ago for $20, shoulda scooped it up.

Intuition for Men I have found a pleasant fragrance, which has a smooth and fresh start, it is very fruity. I thought I smelled something like mandarin, but I see that it is not listed, but other fruits such as cucumber are remarkable. Little by little a warmer and woody character begins to appear that give it that oriental nature, although it is a soft oriental since it is not a heavy or intrusive fragrance, and also has elegance. In my opinion, this fragrance can be used at any time of the year, it has freshness and warmth, it can be day or night, and I even think it could appeal to young people and adults. Its longevity was also good at least over 8 hours. with a single application, and in terms of its scent, I could say that it is one of those fragrances that anyone can like. In his style he reminded me a bit of Solo de Loewe.

Blindly bought this fragrance and absolutely love it. Great for spring as a break between my strong woody winter and summer fragrances. The amazing thing about Intuition is the balance between crisp and warmth - that's the balance between amber and cucumber - again, just right for spring. It's a pity that I have to douse about four sprays on my body and one on my wrist to get anybody to notice it. But, I guess if it was any stronger it might not have quite such an amazing balance in the composition. A great cologne that's not well known, I will wear this for a long time to come.

This is a really great scent from Estee Lauder. I think it's underrated, and for the price, it's a great value. $70 US for 100 mL! I find this to be a very classic masculine scent that isn't too loud, but is very interesting. It has a freshness, but mostly there is a spicy vibe to it with myrrh, amber, patchouli, and more. It's worth a try! You may be surprised with it. Lauder isn't known for their men's fragrances, and usually if people have tried it, it's Pleasures for men. Next time you're at the Lauder counter, give this is a spray on your skin and try it!

I love this unusual smoky, spicy sweet scent. It is so well blended! It's hard to describe this fragrance as it morphs from one note to another; one minute you can detect an aquatic note, the next minute its a cigar note and the next it a beautiful combination of both. This scent is so captivating that I can't stop sniffing my wrists! Longevity and sillage is pretty average; about 4 to 5 hours before it becomes a skin scent. The sillage doesn't extend much further than 50 cms on a good day. Nothing else in my collection smells similar. One of my favourites.

The original bottle i had, from 2003, was amber like in the top photo. I justo bought a new one, and it is trasparent, justo like the photo on the side. Scent is the came as I remmeber. On me, ambery, spicy, powdery. Totally unisex, without a doubt. It has never being a potent or long lasting scent, not then, not Now, but....it's a very sensual scent. Close quarters, romantic occasions. Women really like this one, believe me, they really do.

Sadly this has been discontinued. It's an underrated gem. Very woody and masculine. It's not too strong, but has a distinctive character. The comparisons to Lancome Hypnose pour Homme, and Chanel Allure are spot on. This is great for any occasion, it's very versatile. It performs well on my skin, lasting quite a while and turning into a nice skin scent. It is woody, but also oriental at the same time. Worth seeking out!

So, this is a nice fragrance, not generic, that's true. A tad similar to Chanel's Allure Homme. However, it's a bit strange for me that it's marketed as a male fragrance... Ps: This surely reminds me of a female fragrance but I cannot recall it to which one! I really like wearing it on myself but I'm not easy, fearing all the time if people might think I'm wearing a female perfume :S

Bought this from Boots after having gone through the designer stuff on display. Warm not too sweet and sensual without being in your face. Wonderful everyday stuff, a cut above the harshly synthetic designer stuff. Not in the same league as the Crees of this world but quality at a decent price.

things that come to mind with this fragrance: warm, subtle, clean. i've worn this on hot days and found it to be completely suitable. it's a soft fragrance and while it does have some depth/spice, it also has a refreshing quality about it. i echo the thoughts of many - go ahead and buy it!

My childhood ambition? I have it, finally! Longevity - 2 hours, what have I done? Is it mine broken, fake, whatever as the scent is the same as I remember it but it lasts for less than 2 hours? Or it could be the reformulation as this one is quite old?

I've worn this for several years now and get nothing but compliments and a whole lot of "you smell great!!" I get it from mostly men, though many women have commented as well. I am female, but his scent compliments my chemistry wonderfully!

I bought this when it came out. I loved it for its balmy warmth and yet it was also refreshing as well. Like sitting in a hot tub on a real cold night. I got loads of compliments off this one. Scent 8/10 Projection 7/10 Fortitude 7/10

one of the most comforting fragrances in my collection. the amber is well executed here, with powdery and sun lotion vibes with refreshing cucumber and aldehydes. 8/10 soundtrack: sufjan stevens - michigan.

Its drydown is a lot like that of Allure Homme, except more masculine, more interesting, and less headache-y. I don't know how I come up with these things. They just come to me. It's like I'm psychic.

the first fragrance ever that made me say "wow!" when i saw its development on my wrist throughout the day... Imagine if there was a perfect fragrance, for me that would be this one

Oriental and warm. Not sporty and fresh , more an elegant fragrance. Very unique fragrance suits well in the colder seasons. This fragrance is pretty rare to find nowadays

Considering how much this fragrance suits me, and how often women positively react to it, it's ridiculous how unreliable my own intuition is...

This is the cologne in my collection that gets the most compliments from women. It's amazing stuff!

Smells like my grandpa, beautiful.

i just found a 3.4 oz bottle of this at a thrift store for under 30$. what a deal. i just sprayed it on for the first time and i must say, this stuff is superb. as expected from Estee Lauder, it is delicate and sophisticated. It has a heavy presence and certainly announces itself well. It leans, one would say feminine, but i think more metropolitan for a man about town, or in the city. This fragrance will work very well. I know people are upset about high prices, but let's face it, when a bottle becomes rare, it becomes collectible. That's basically a form of currency. Perfume is precious. This stuff is something that nobody else will be wearing, almost guaranteed. In my opinion, if you have the money, it might be a good buy, if you're looking for a unique signature scent. This one could be a little bit over-sweet, if you put on too much. But in a delicate amount, traces in the air would be quite nice. It smells like a fall scent to my nose. Late afternoon in the open air. A touch artificial to be heavily applying this indoors. Projection is moderately good. Slightly powdery but go easy on the sprayer and this could be a banger.

My mother gifted me this for Christmas several years ago. At first, I didn't want to like it. I would wear it occasionally, mainly when going home, but it never became a favorite. Flash forward to now, about 5-6 years later and I love this stuff. It is an interesting fragrance, but makes me feel warm and happy. The cucumber opening is unique, but the amber dry down is incredibly comforting. I spray this on before bed. It helps me end my day and I have grown to love it after all of these years. It is unique, playful, but quite soft and gentle. This is something that fits a quiet person, but once you get to know them, they become energetic and exciting. The scent is amazing, but performance is weak. To be fair, I dont want this to be a beast in the performance area because it shouldn’t be that. It is calm and inviting, makes me want to cuddle up into a ball. Overall: 8/10

It's always surprised me that Estée Lauder has never really competed more strongly in the men's market. The scattering of men's fragrances have been very good over the years. I personally prefer Pleasures, but Intuition definitely has a place, Pleasures is fresh and bright, Intuition is deep and sensual. It's a very warm, soothing, comforting fragrance. Performance is questionable, it's never been even a good performer, but it's now on the poor/moderate scale. I was devastated that Clinique discontinued Chemistry, I used to use that when I felt down or low in spirit, I think Intuition will do the job equally well, it has a very reassuring vibe. A fragrance for myself.

My mom bought me this from Macy's back in 2004 I believe and I wore it for over 15 years. It was my signature scent. My bottle sits empty and sad now and the new ones go for close to 200 dollars online because it's discontinued. I wore this to school and wore it everytime I did not have deodorant. I wish I could still buy it for the 30, 40 dollars it used to sell for. It's a very versatile and civilized fragrance that has a pencil shaving smell to it, hence the school vibes. I really hope Este Lauder starts making this again.

Nose Note #491 Wow! Yes!!! That's awesome. Amber and cucumber, yes!!! D&G The One meets Fahrenheit Aqua, but watered down. What is this diamond of a perfume! That's unique. Feels very exciting, not many perfumes excite me at all. Average performance, but what an impression it makes. Smells expensive. Rich scent, soapy, a little fruity, a little sweet, good amount of amber, fresh, aquatic, a little aromatic. It's almost everything, but blended together perfectly. What a gem... 9.5/10, one of the lost treasures

Picked this up for 30 bucks at Marshall's and figured I'd give it a try because in Fragrantica it looked promising. While it is a good scent, this lacks severely in the uniqueness department. It's the plain Jane, fresh apples, musky freshness and spice kind of deal. A great one to throw on everyday when you don't want to use up your really good stuff. Thankfully I don't have anything that smells like this in my collection so it stands out a little bit in my crowd of fragrances.

A lovely fragrance beautifully warm yet its light and refreshing at the same time. Theres a really unique feeling to the composition and its quite a different amber fragrance and a great alternative option to the usual high street designer fragrances for men.

This was a nice clean amber fragrance for the price, but not worth what it’s currently going for. Its a shame that people price gouge items like this, especially for those that want to experience/remember something they grew up with.

Lauder's Intuition dries down to Firmenich's habanolide, a very powerful, yet warm and a little bit powdery, musk. This has been discontinued and understandably so. I'm not too fond of musk myself.

SUPER SEXY! For secure men with an aesthetic side, not the macho type. Sublime, warm, delicious. A mix of the masculine and the femenine. I LOVE it.

Serene, balmy, light and easy-going. Pretty casual but elegant at the same time

A gift from a kindly relative, found under the sink. Straightforward amber, which goes a bit powdery after a while. On the thick, custardy side. It’s quite nice. Odd bottle. This us all irrelevant, of course, because you’re not going to buy it unless you already know what it smells like - people pay £250 for this online. Sentimental attachment and association of scent with past experiences aside - both fair enough, I’d give you £5 for a fresh can of Brut Aquatonic - this is madness. Obviously, I’ll flog you my hardly-used bottle for an extortionate price if you ask, but I’ll feel bad about it.

what?? smells like laundry detergent; really was off-put by this! i guess the cucumber and herbal tones give an over the top lavender-musky-clean smell that's washer-like. mixed with the amber and stuff it's weird to me...

Intuition starts off with aquatic cucumber with nutty spiciness from sage, walnut, nutmeg, and cardamom. I definitely perceive the raisin note, but it's kind of hard to explain exactly how it smells. It's sort of fleshy and pulpy, with the mild sweetness of grapes, but dry and not very "wet"-smelling. Of course there is a smooth amber heart to Intuition as well. There are also whiffs of labdanum, myrrh, and incense that add hints of bitterness to the fragrance. This composition is very developed and complex and it is exciting to smell. Intuition is a really artistic, unique scent, and I respect the composition of it very much. But I wish SO badly that it had more prominent sillage. This fragrance wears very close to the skin -- it disappears so quickly that it's almost not worth wearing. I'm conflicted. It's an awesome fragrance with really poor performance. **Note on the bottle - it is bizarre. The large photo at the top of this page is very deceptive because the actual glass of the bottle is clear, not amber-colored. There is just an orange sticker on the bottom of the bottle that is supposed to reflect up through the clear glass. The bronze of the sprayer clashes against the orange sticker. It looks very cheap and weird. The shape of the bottle also looks like cartoony Flintstones boulders. I'm just confused by it.

I got a bottle of this when I was 16 in 2003 walking through JCPenney in the mall, I remember smelling it and it was intoxicating. I took a tester home that day and I kept smelling it, the next day I had to buy a bottle, it was a great purchase and it served me well. Everyone always loved it. In a time when axe body spray Phoenix and dark temptation were at their most popular and reigned supreme (I had dark temptation which slayed as well) this was a very unique detour scentwise that the girls around me at that time loved. Well that bottle is long gone and I had since forgotten about fragrances until last year I started collecting vintage fragrances, I began to hunt for this again to show my wife. As luck would have it I found a bottle on our honeymoon in Tahoe at a store with the world's largest collection of vintage fragrances aptly called the "fragrance Vault"(the owner has more unopened bottles as well) I got to relive those feelings I had walking through jc Penny's (a little underwhelming now) and my wife found out she actually does like the smell of Oud of it's done right. Two wins for me in my opinion. This fragrance has somehow stayed extremely unique over time. With axe body spray dieing in popularity, Savage has risen in it's place

Warm, fresh and inviting. Relaxing and sensual in the drydown. There's something very familiar about Intuition for Men that harkens back to the feel good 70s, yet the cucumber in the top notes definitely brings this into the modern age. I agree with Good Vibration's review in that there are similarities between Allure and Intuition, and, like Good Vibrations, I also find Allure to be "head-achey". Even though the Chanel is well blended, I honestly don't care for the scent at all - there's something bitter and utterly cosmetic smelling that ruins Allure for me. Intuition, however, while sharing some of Allure's warmth and depth, offers a more appealing freshness and sensuality that is sorely lacking in Chanel's release. I have received countless compliments from the fairer sex while wearing Intuition and even though the niche lovers might not appreciate this, I personally feel that for a mainstream scent, it's definitely bottle worthy...

My elder sister loves Intuition for women more than any other fragrances she has, and when this men version came out, she asked me to try it out. I did and I didn’t like it at that time. It was just not my cup of tea. Recently, I bought this for a good bargain, and when I tried it once again after many, many years, I immediately fell in love. I love the cool yet warm sensation it gives in the opening, never though that the cucumber and amber blend could be so captivating like this. It doesn’t take long for the perfume to settle in, I couldn’t detect much development as it stays cool and warm with a hint of woody and earthy notes for few hours. I don’t mind its moderate projection because I wear perfume is for me to smell myself good and if others can smell it too, then it is a bonus, but still I wish this had a better longevity so that I can enjoy its fresh, uplifting yet warm and calming fragrance throughout the day.

Very surprising cocktails !! Oriental, a mixture of sweet chords .... High quality ingredients, and big names (Noses !!) mixture of ingenious ways! Specials are lined up like raisins, myrrh, or marigold .... The result is a stylish elite, sophisticated fragrance sort of "qualitative" way! Very likable and wearable fragrance warmer days of leisure programs! For me personally, heart and base notes of soap and a spicy cocktail, which is a clear and milder version of JDJ. Since JDJ old favorite, so this is really like !! Intuition - a more convenient choice for everyday, but just as quality categories ... It is possible that women must receive grace to try themselves .... Not forbidden! Regarding the name, more of a "man" classification of food for thought. Yet the masculine fragrance !! And even soothing herb nature oriental accords bit .... it brings back the atmosphere of the 90s!

A warm, subtle, unique fragrance. Cucumber opening giving way to woods and amber, but in a transparent, easy to wear way. I do pick up the raisin note as well. Really nice to wear in the summer, although longevity is not very good. I layer this with molecule 01 and the performance is improved. This is much too delicate to wear in cooler weather IMO. It simply cannot hold up. If you like YSL homme then I think you would like this as well. It is in that same vein but different. My wife likes this one because it is subtle. She does not like loud fragrances. The low projection works in my favor because it brings her in closer to smell this. Inexpensive fragrance that works great in the office as well.

A sophisticated and mature scent but not over powering or heavy. Fresh and light when first sprayed with notes of cucumber but warms up as it dries leaving beautiful woody and ambers tones. It’s frequently complimented as being unique. It’s very versatile and can be worn in any season, day or evening. I’ve worn it for years and just when I think it’s time to move on to something else I always go back as nothing else compares. Sophisticated, unique and versatile.

One of the freshest orientals I know and truly appreciate. I perceive it as the first true interpretation of a sunny fragrance: it is not an Oriental that requires formal wear, it can be worn on any occasion, for those who like it more it can even become a skin scent. It is like a less formal and easy to wear Allure pour homme. Lasting power is ok considering its lightness.

Oriental-sunny, oriental-fresh. Warm, sensual, gently spicy and alluring. Optimistic and friendly. For men that use intuition and instinct in their lives. They often communicate with world by feelings instead of words. They know if someone doesn't like them, but haven't shown it yet, or if someone takes a liking to them, but didn't have a chance to show it yet.

Very unusual pick for men. Spicy, sweet, very rich and yet not overpowering at all. You can sense a fresh scent of flowers and spices, dominated by soft woodsy high notes. I can imagine ladies wearing this, it should be Unisex (althouh there's Intuition for ladies already) I don't think it became too popular among men after the launch.

Beautiful oriental, sexy scent that should have been an absolute winner. However, limited projection and longevity, and needs an extra masculine kick. An EDP reformulated with a slightly more masculine element may have performed better but as it stands it can't be recommended because of these limitations.
