Modern Muse Le Rouge

I was working an event for Estee Lauder and as I was getting my make-up done the artist sprayed a little on my wrist saying, "This is the new Kendall Jenner perfume." I chuckled to myself because I really am not a fan of any of the Kardashians and I assume she thought I was a lot younger than I really am (I'm 32 but often mistaken for 23). Normally I'm not very open to putting on a new scent right away but I found myself obsessively smelling my wrist. Patchouli is one of my favorite notes so I have a number of fruity chypres in my collection but this one is a little different because it was the first I was interested in that didn't have some sort of citrus note and instead uses red berries for its tartness. It has a great balance between being sweet, soft, and youthful and sexy, bold, and mature. Almost everywhere I've gone with this scent I hear from both men and women, "What smells good?!" Once while at a private dinner our server told us everyone kept walking by the door asking what the scent was. With that being said this one is very strong so best to "spray and walk away" as the atomizer shoots quite a lot out which is the only issue I had with the bottle as I've accidentally sprayed myself in the face a few times. One spritz will last me the whole day if not more as I often smell it on my scarf for days. As for the comparison with "Si" I found Si to be slightly more syrupy, vanillay, and woody. Despite sharing many of the same notes I'm not really a fan of Si as its a bit too heavy for my chemistry.

I first sniffed this perfume in a magazine in the end of 2015 when it came out. I liked it so much I checked the site for notes and bought small bottle from e-bay. You know how magazines have perfumes really concentrated and good quality perfumes behave completely different on skin from paper. Well, this perfume turned out to be better than I thought. I have never bought any Ester Louder perfumes and basically never paid any attention to this perfume house. This one perfume had my attention to try others. On first spray it is softly spicy like a spicy and sweet rose/shafron. In about 20 minutes spiciness disappears and perfume turned into something very different, very soft, creamy, sweet and a touch of powdery wispy and airy sent. This part is absolutely gorgeous! And the thing is when you test it you do not wait for the perfume to develop into this stage and judge by the spicy part. The perfume is very complicated, it plays and changes back and forth from soft creamy side back to spicy rose, and suddenly back to creamy side. It is very surprising and very beautiful. I cannot compair it to any other perfume or fit it into any category. It is very addictive. I wore it once and I cannot put it down or switch to my other favorite perfumes. It's weired, I never had a perfume to take such monopoly on me. It is very unusual but it is comforting and spirit lifting. It does not give anyone allergies or headaches. The staying power is one of the strongest. It stayed on even after the shower!

Modern Muse Le Rouge is a sweet berry rose scent that should have been marketed as its own stand alone fragrance. It is nothing like the previous Modern Muses which could be misleading. It should have just been "La Rouge". I have Armani Si and Armani Si Intense and initially I see more of a similarity to Si Intense than Si. I find this to be a better formulation for me however than either Si because this one does not cause any tingling to my olfactory nerve receptors. At first application I detect a lot of sweet berries but I also get the rose and pepper. It is very pretty and very strong. Then on the dry down it loses some of the intense sweetness and is mostly Rosy-Berry-Vanilla with incredible light Woody-Patchouli notes. I also smell some Jasmine peeking through. I smelled it at the EL counter this Summer but did not delve in as I was not feeling it for the warm months. I do like it this Fall however. I was given a sample and I wore it to my birthday dinner last week and got quite a few compliments. I ended up getting a 30ml FB this week because it is gorgeous and well made. Longevity is well over six hours. Sillage is strong in the beginning but it mellows out on the dry down. I give this one a 10/10.

I received a 4mil mini of modern muse le rouge in a makeup pack of ester Lauder.I was very happy to see it has spray unlike most of other mini perfumes Modern muse le rouge has nothing to do with modern muse and modern muse chic.it reminded me lanvin Jeanne rose at first but they go to different paths after half an hour.it has the same tart and sweet,juicy fruity(red current and raspberry) opening,I can also find a trace of saffron(because I know it's there)but very soon it becomes less juicy and I can pickup pink pepper,a hint of patchouli florals(mostly rose) Rose and berryish fruits are the main players hear;spices and woody notes add a bit of charm to make it more complex than a simple fruityfloral.drydown,which is my favotite part,is a musky raspberry rose grounded by a touch of woody warmth.it has also lip gloss vibe,but not too much of it I can't judge it's longevity and sillage yet but it doesn't seem to be as long lasting as original modern muse. It's wearable year round, both days and nights and although I don't love it as much as her sisters,I may need a bigger bottle(if I find a 50mil tester bottle)since I find it's raspberry-rosey-musky drydown divine and my man likes it on me

DANG...... If this was a painting, Modern Muse Le Rouge would be Klimt's. "The Kiss", if it was an actress, Catherine Zeta Jones or Rita Hayworth, if it was a song, this scent would be the Commodores, "Brick House", if it was a car, Modern Muse Le Rouge would be a 1976 El Dorado Coupe convertable, red, naturally. You get the point of course. Estee' Lauder might have updated Cinnabar with a little more rose and fruit than spice but it has the same effect. This is best worn during the winter-Chic and the original incarnation for Summer and Spring, respectively-the sillage and staying power is very strong. At first, you get the roses and berries with base notes of ambrette, musk and patchouli pulling the saffron along for the ride. For some reason, the jasmine and the magnolia are lost on me but it is just as well, there is no room with such a sensual and warm scent. Here is a fun game. When you spray it on, try to think of as many words that start with , "R" that best describe this luscious little number. Roses, redolent, ripe, Reubenesque, rich, REALLY, REALLY SEXY!!!!!

This scent is just so luxurious to me. I think the deepness of the vetiver balances a lot of the more cloying top notes. I agree with other reviewers who say it reminds them of a department store. It smells a bit plasticky but in a nostalgic or hard-to-place way. Super sad it is discontinued. Edit: I received a bottle of this for Christmas! Definitely a dream fragrance to always have a few sprays of this so I will be using it sparingly. What strikes me most is the longevity and dry-down - it is a such a lovely modern fragrance. In the past I would have only denoted it as powdery, but now with more perfume experience I’m of course realizing it’s very fruity. It reminds me a bit of Mon Paris, maybe just because of the raspberry fruity/floral. There is also some DNA that reminds me of why I like Cloud so much, and that is just for a clean, musky scent reminiscent of the department store.

"Modern Muse Le Rouge" came to me as a Christmas gift from my favorite aunt who is an Estee Lauder fanatic and only uses her products for the last thirty years or more. So when she presented me with an Estee Lauder bag I can't say I was surprised, but after thanking her and promptly tried it on... I got very pleasantly surprised of how much I like this and even more surprised of how much my husband likes it... A fresh, spicy, oriental perfume that lasts for a while: almost ten hours on me and projects well: I received unexpected compliments at late evenings when I thought it would be long gone. This is not special nor unique but rather easy going and safe, an I feel good and I don't care to impress kind of scent that works any time. I am going to finish my bottle; I only wear this now and maybe I buy one my self or who knows? maybe husband gifts me one - since he likes it that much

I loved this as soon as I smelled it. This is a very beautifully done fragrance. When I wore it on my skin it absolutely bloomed. As someone who doesn't care much for fruit and vanilla in fragrances, I don't even notice them in this perfume. It compliments it very well. I will say, this does smell like someone's mom, not my mom, but somebody's. I also get escort vibes from this, it's kind of hooker-ish, but affluent hooker in what I think the 90s were like. She meets with executive types and accompanies them at fine dining establishments; And she keeps this perfume in her purse next to a dark red lipstick and a pack of cigarettes. So what I'm saying is, is that this perfume tells a story; And I love being a grown ass man wearing this affluent hooker fragrance. Oh also side note: This has a darker liquid in it that I would only assume stains, so don't spray this on your clothes.

Though it does not last very long (2-3 hours on me at least), this is the favorite fragrance I own. I have Modern Muse, Modern Muse Chic, and this one and it is far better than the other two. Characterized by a warm, fruity-floral scent, it verges on an oriental perfume. It is deep, spicy, and full of life. Wearing it I am taken back to the summer nights of my middle school years in Alabama when the air is hot and carries the smell of magnolia and roses on its tail. While it is not very strong, someone next to me can smell and I have received many complements. As a younger (collage aged) woman, I do not find the fragrance stuffy like first Modern Muse, but rather vibrant, vivacious, and energetic while being almost delicate at the same time. It is my signature scent for almost two years not, and it will be until I can find something that represents me better.

A fruity , fresh , sour rose scent , nicely done. I quite enjoy wearing this , it's a little soapy as well , but to me most rose scents are soapy , I guess because my mom use to always buy rose scented soap? So I associate those two smells and soap to me is rose and rose is soap lol , fresh and clean out of the shower sorta smell. This rose is fruity , sour and very Red ! I love it. It's young and fun and I keep getting these amazing sweet, fresh whiffs whenever I turn or move. I like the aspect of the saffron and the raspberry with the red currant. A little like the fruit pies my mom use to make ,,,, the musky aspect is still here as well and makes this fragrance very good. I have all of the editions and this one is my favourite , I like the others as well though.

Modern Muse la Rouge really blooms in warm weather. It's absolute perfection for hot days. MMLR has the perfect mix of creamy florals, fresh fruits and sweet greens. The rose is the star and she's a rich one, lending a solid heart and powering through till the last whiff. But she isn't alone, she is decorated by tart yet sweet berries, who give her a fresh, late summertime aura. The base is a faint but earthy patchouli and yummy vanilla and musk mallow (which I find to be a delectable and unique addition) I can't stop sniffing my wrist. And my man won't stop saying "mmmm that smells so good" It really makes me feel beautiful :) *** Sillage is big for the first hour or so then it's moderate. Longevity is about 6 solid hours.

I don't usually like EL fragrances but this bottle caught my eye as I entered a department store this afternoon. I just picked it up for a sniff, thought it was a bit overpowering then walked around the store. Only 5 mins later I could smell the fragrance on my fingers and did an about-turn, went right back to the bottle and covered myself in it. That was 4 hours ago and I'm still loving it. Such a creamy rose perfectly blended with vanilla and raspberry. It's one of those luxury fragrances that surrounds me like a warm blanket on a cool night. I've had trouble searching for the right vanilla and rose scents, and this, plus Montale White Oud are perfect for me

Modern Muse Le Rouge opens with a fruity, floral and kind of spicy kick. The red currant and raspberry are really juicy in the tops notes. The pink pepper and saffron are also present adding a nice spiced balance and yet they don’t overpower the fruity notes. The floral notes of rose, jasmine and magnolia are very well done in this fragrance. They’re not too light and not too strong. They’re balanced quite beautifully between the fruity top notes and the musky, sweet dry down of the base notes. Modern Muse Le Rouge is a very feminine, mature, and very well put together fragrance. It lasts a very long time on your skin and is gorgeous enough for any season.

This smells like Christmas to me. It's glamorous, sparkly, and a little comforting. It's going on a holiday ski trip with your whole family and coming back home to a crackling fire, hot cocoa and the smell of cranberry jelly cooking for Christmas dinner. Everyone gets dressed up for the feast and laughter, and this is what the young lady of the family would wear. The sweetness, tartness and sparkly raspberry and pink pepper make this fragrance both sophisticated and youthful. It makes me think of tinsel, red satin bows, snowflakes falling on the pine trees outside, candy apple red lipstick...everything that's wonderful about the holiday season!

Wow, it's intense like Armani Si edp. First spray I was like f$&k yeah! I can't pick the notes, just what I've smelled before and find similar to. Powdery fruit, sour in background, like an edge, something sweet, Just sprayed so will add a more coherent piece later EDIT ok, there's a middle, like a mechanical bit in between some living natural thing, a layer, tobacco-y plastic....?? Among fruity goings on.....What's it doing..... hmmm EDIT oooh you know what, that metallic thing that Armani gioia Essenza has, it's like that but layers with fruity something, the vinyl or tobacco causes a 'snag' on the fruit scents...

This perfume is if Sì was heavier on the rose and a bit more lively-fruity. Red fruits add that playful sexiness to every perfume, considering that Sì is more grounded and woody kind of sexy, you can imagine the effect of Modern Muse le Rouge. Patchouli is not earthy but adds sharpness, she's confident, loud. This is her if Sì partied more, the girl that notices you're shy and invites you to join. Discontinued fragrance, what a bummer, everyone asks me what I'm wearing when I bring her out every now and then. Modern Muse le Rouge was my first signature scent, she's potentially what started my perfume journey!

This is rose rose ROSE! From the opening to the dry down. It does get spicier as you wear it, it’s the perfect warm rose with an almost cinnamony smell to it (I assume that’s the pink pepper). Honestly I think this is so dang sexy to me I couldn’t imagine wearing this any other time than date nights or going out at night. If the color red had a scent this is what I’d imagine it smelled like. I don’t think this is strong enough to be offensive but it’s definitely an acquired smell, I don’t think this would be a fan favorite but it sure is one of mine.

I purchased this expecting it to be a sometimes, casual perfume. I work with 82 women and one day smelt a beautiful familiar scent on another Co- worker then discovered it was this perfume. We both get endless compliments with this scent from the other ladies. When I wear this I get lost in the rosy, berry mist it creates around me it’s so good I’ve already used half the bottle in a couple of months and will definitely be re purchasing. It’s not sweet at all more alluring and mysterious. I find it to be unique. It has great lasting power too.

This perfume is the epitome of all beautiful things don't last forever. Although sadly discontinued, the memory of it will stay with me; it is linked with a beautiful period in my life. The perfume itself is a romantic, promising invitation. It challenges you to give in to your desires, roses and saffron blend together to create a mystical environment but definitely a warm one. It is playful, because of raspberries, flirty yet well established. It will stay on the sheets the next day; musky, sinfully reminiscent.

On me, it starts off very fruity, but the base notes (ambrette really shines through) are the stars of the show. It smells like warm hugs, roses, and red berry jam in a bottle. Comforting but also flirty. It also lasts forever on clothes and hair. Sillage is perfect: not too overpowering but also noticeable. It works well as a comforting scent in colder months but becomes a bright, loving rose in hotter seasons. However, DO NOT wear this in a stuffy room. I did this once, and it almost ruined this for me...
