Oasis Dawn

Over the last couple of weeks, with the coming of the fall season, I have been on a quest to find my perfect fig focused scent. Knowing from previous years that Gris Charnel and the Extrait version are not my thing, I decided to sample different brands, niche or designers, to see if I can find MY perfect fig perfume... And I can say that I have found it where I was expecting less, within the Estee Lauder Luxury collection, in Oasis Dawn. It’s a sweet fruity scent that highlights a fig fruit combined masterfully with pimento leaves, rose, jasmine, orange blossom and patchouli! It’s a fruity, warm, spicy, white floral, with earthy patchouli to ground it and give it a bit more lingering power. Maybe I adore this scent because it’s more of a designer take on a fig, less difficult to understand and appreciate than let’s say BDK’s/Goldfield&Banks / Miller Harris’s or simply because the fig here is sweeter and surrounded by a beautiful, big floral heart. I am not entirely sure but Desert Dawn is right up my alley and it’s beautifully done! In order to like this scent you need to like a sweet fig, closer to being a fig jam, rose and white flowers. Obviously, it’s 100% a feminine perfume. Will work most of the season in my opinion. The addition of the pimento leaves gives the fig and the florals so much warmth and makes Oasis Dawn work during the fall season. Full transparency, I got my bottle for half price off, so for the amount of money I have paid for my Oasis Dawn, I consider this perfume as an amazing value for money. I would have bought it for full price if I couldn’t have gotten it on a good deal, but it happened to be on sale for Black Friday. At around three hours it became a skin scent. So not the best longevity and minimal sillage. I guess I can’t have it all... On clothes lasts for days though.

The longer this wears on the skin, the better this perfume gets. It is fabulous in the dry down phase. I sprayed this - and the beginning of this was so so, not terribly memorable. However, after this moves into the dry down phase, this perfume is REALLY GOOD ON! Light, fresh...upbeat. It has a note in it where it smells very similar to Grigsby Clothing Store smelled like in my home town. I really like this, on. Very nice with my chemistry - without going into over kill. It is light and attractive, but has the typical Estee Lauder strength where this is going to last longer than some other brands. ---------------- This has notes in it which smell very similar to Avon's original "Far Away" and "Far Away Gold" formula. They just discontinued the original "Far Away" - so it is great to have something similar to that. I believe that they have removed the notes which made that perfume react with my chemistry in a negative way. This formula is much better with my chemistry. This is fabulous in the dry down phase.

This is classy, mature, old money elegance. White florals have a way of evoking aristocratic femininity when they are well composed. The jasmine and the orange blossom offer a cool freshness that is balanced beautifully with the sweetness of the fig. This brings to mind visuals of 90s White Musk perfume ads for some reason - perhaps because it captures the clean, sophisticated, glamorous imagery of those ads in a bottle. It has a long life span on the skin. I sprayed it on my clothes and the scent lingered for over 24 hours. This is probably my second favorite fragrance in this line after Infinite Sky.

This line just keeps impressing me! This is a beautiful fig scent done in a spicy woody floral way. Less tropical and green than Philosykos, no coconut notes. Probably leans feminine but a beautiful earthy vetiver combined with the spice of the pimento leave keeps it from going full sweet floral. I wonder how many scents they will release under this line? Everyone please go buy at least one because I will be really upset if it gets discontinued. Zero buzz, almost no reviews on YouTube... I’m nervous this line is getting overlooked.

A freaking masterpiece. Fig is a challenging note for me, but that chili note from the pimento leaf has me absolutely addicted. I can’t stop sniffing myself. Lasts decently on skin, days on clothes. I decanted a bit into a travel spray so I’ve got some on me at all times. I may need a backup bottle of this one since it’s sadly discontinued. Radiant Mirage is another winner from this line.

The best one out of this disjointed array of mostly cheaply named fragrances. Deserves a much better name! Very difficult to locate. Do acquire this for your collection now. The touch of vetiver is heavenly and unique. Great balance and never off kilter. So thoroughly complete that it would not be surprising if Aerin reformulates this one under her own brand. It's just that great.

Thrilled I found this one for a reasonable price. The opening is spicy, green and somewhat masculine leaning IMO, but it quickly morphs into the most beautifully blended sweet, floral and fresh scent. It's so calming, and I honestly don't have anything else like it in my collection. All the popular "clean girl" fragrances on the market *wish* they were as cool as Oasis Dawn. ;)

This whole line is gorgeous, and Oasis Dawn is a standout even in this company. It doesn't smell like anything else, can work in any season and in any setting. It's sophisticated and fresh, but not in a shampoo-basic way. I would say it's an elevated take on the clean/fresh genre of fragrances. I think any and all genders can wear this, but some may think it leans feminine.

My third buy from this collection, because I love the formulation of these frangrances and magnetic cap on the attractive bottle. This one is very figgy and sits close to the skin/intimate. I find it a versatile scent too. I think it's great to wear for the office and for a professional woman. It's a wonderful addition to my collection.

I just picked Oasis Dawn up! And I must say I’m very impressed. What a comforting experience! I’m impressed with the longevity and the way it truly enhances my mood 😍 my intention is to use it as a warm weather fragrance but honestly it could be worn year round. Can’t wait to spend more time together.

I've been testing and smelling this fragrance for over a year at the Estée Lauder counter and finally bought a bottle today. I smell fig, spices, and a gentle white floral. There's almost a coconut hint to it too. I love it and think it's perfect for early fall.

I like this but I’m not in love. It a very fig scent which I love a good fig fragrance, but I think the pimento leaves kinda make not love this. But I bought it and maybe it will smell different in the spring and summer

If Molton Brown did a fig body wash this is what it would smell like, I mean that as a compliment. Lovely sweet fig and vétiver which will work best in Spring and Autumn

Oasis Dawn is more complex than other perfumes in this line, and is a slightly unusual take on a sweet floral scent. Jasmine is dominant at a push, but the other notes are well-placed, making for a nicely composed, wearable feminine scent that manages to stand out. The opening is very sweet, smelling of ripe fruit. Jammy fig is present but muted, playing second fiddle to the slightly syrupy orange blossom. Orange blossom notes like this seem to be a common feature in current mass-market feminine perfumes, but here the fig is an inspired and unusual addition, tempering the syrup nicely. It comes to the fore as the orange blossom subsides, with pimento leaf (presumably) adding greenness. As it develops, sweet florals emerge, bolstered by soft spice. I get powdery rose initially, but sweet jasmine emerges as it develops further, complemented beautifully by the remainder of the fruity notes. Patchouli in the base complements it nicely, adding some earthiness. Soft woody notes are also evident. It dries down to a sweet, slightly musky jasmine skin scent with some earthiness. Sillage and longevity are moderate, and it is a feminine spring/summer scent for everyday use. A nice twist on a sweet floral scent, OD is slightly unusual despite its reliance on common accords. It is probably too sweet for my liking, but is objectively good; a creative take on a tired trope. 4/5.

Nice and unique spicy woody scent. Captivating blend. It's light, yet warm and spicy. Not a casual scent. If I didn't look at notes, I wouldn't be able to tell that it has fig note in it. Patchouli is not prominent here. It's well blended, but vetiver and pimento/ambreine(?) notes are the most detectable to me. It doesn't remind of anything I've smelled before. Marketed towards women but I can see men wearing it too. I envision more mature, elegant individuals wearing this scent. Great for dressy occasions and wearable to the office. I've found a tester at the US department store with a red logo. EDIT: I sprayed it 3 days ago and I can still smell it on the test paper. It's an intriguing scent: I wasn't wow'ed by it initially, but there's something about it that makes me come back to it. It's really well done. The more I smell it, the more I appreciate it. Smells even better from a distance and when it dries down. It's beautiful, classy, confident and sophisticated. I wish it was included in the coffret set of mini sprays or sold individually as a travel spray. 100ml is too much for me. EDIT 2: It vaguely reminds me of Van Cleef and Arpels Precious Oud, which is sweeter, richer and has more warm sandalwood.

This fragrance is really hard to describe. It is unlike anything I have ever smelled. It is at the same time confusing and interesting. I am a bit unsure of the opening notes, but the dry down and base notes make me come back to it over and over, sniffing my wrists. Thus, the fragrance ages well on me. It is kind of fascinating because no other perfume does that to me. I have/had all eight other ones in the collection. I like dream dusk and tender light the most. But those two seem linear compared to this. I don’t think I would call this fantastic, but it grows on you. Maybe I will find it fantastic in a few years, I don’t know. A keeper for me. Bonus: well-designed magnetic cap of the bottle.
