I'm a blindbuy addict but wood mystuque is a kind of perfume I'd never consider blindbuying it.first because it has wood in it's name.second because it has oud,leather,patchouli,pink pepper and cedar,notes I usually can't stand.and third,it's branded as unisex and I imagine a woody unisex with such rough notes to lean towards masculinity My friend gave me a decant of this one and also amber mustique which I thought I'd like more.I was surprised to love wood mystique! I discovered that I actually like oud in sweet,well put together perfumes and this is one of them.oud and woody notes are in a warm,sweet balmy base of benzoin.a perfect combination of bitter and sweet.raspberry,rose and a combination of soft powdery florals adds bright sparks to darkness of woods and leather is soft and adds elegance to scent.it's a very eastern scent but a very luscious,elegant one.notes go through lots of changes and it blooms on skin as a heavenly gorgeous melody so make sure to try it on skin Wood mystique is definitely unisex great for both men and women.it's a cold weather scent and stays forever.sillage is big at first but it reduces to moderate in an hour so don't worry about it's heavyness offending other people This one and Lancome oud bouquet are among my rare oudy loves I love,love,love it Gonna replace my Lancome oud with this one whenever it finishes

I wouldn’t call this fragrance a woody , but instead a leathery sweet fragrance! It is a leather base fragrance with spices, I can’t smell the raspberries neither the roses clearly but I got the sweetness out of them, it is perfectly unisex fragrance, so bold, it’s not linear at all; as i recently tried alaia and was also a nice leathery sweet I’m feeling maybe I should try more leathery fragrances, I’m so impressed by both of them, these kind of fragrances are so wonderful for night-outs, classy, sophisticated, and sexy! In general with Estée Lauder fragrances I don’t get a great deal with longevity and sillage, but the case here is different, both are excellent! All in all nice fragrance, but not a safe blind buy though, try it before purchasing it. Edit: This reminds me soooo much of hot couture by givenchy btw. Edit 1/7/2018: The more I wear it the more I love it, it is so mysterious, classy edgy fragrance, spicy forsure, I’m not so much into leather fragrances but this perfume made me go and buy all the other leathery fragrances I was not sure about, and layer them with something sweet!

I blind bought this based on the notes, the buzz, and the reasonable price. Ah, yup, we have a winner, and the winner is me. The oud here is barely present and very tame. The tart raspberry and lush florals jump out aggressively, all engineered and glossy. The woody components are more demure, rounded, but still sparkling. Wood Mystique compares to Portrait of a Lady as they both deliver rosy raspberries up top. The bases are obviously different and the Malle product is more articulately composed and performs better, but at five times the price, it had better. I'm also reminded somewhat of Al Haramain Excellent, though that fragrance is more subdued and not as girly. Wood Mystique seems more linear, and its candystriper top notes may cut down the versatility on a middle age straight guy vice the more dignified but still quite sweet Excellent. The shiny object has this magpie transfixed, though this entrancement might have to take place as often as not in the context of what Ashton calls "colognely." It's like the Jolly Rancher of rose/oud.

I worked for Estée Lauder in my 20s and I have always loved a lot of their perfumes. I blind bought Wood Mystique and I had high hopes for it. When I received it about 6 - 7 months ago, I was underwhelmed and didn’t get much from it so tucked away in the cupboard to macerate. Now, I absolutely love it. It is a bit of a sneaky scent when you first spray it on. Don’t be fooled by its simplicity and lack of oomph in the beginning. It will unfold boldly and sweetly after about 20 minutes to diffuse an alluring blend of woody notes, some rose, some sweet fruits and tantalize your senses every time you catch a whiff of it. I have discovered the best places to wear this perfume and truly enjoy its beauty is on your neck, décolletage, and shoulders. I don’t even bother to spray them on my wrists anymore. Elbows, yes when I want it to be more than 4 spritz. Longevity is moderate and so is the sillage. It’s not a loud scent and that’s fine because it makes it more classy.

I don't understand the negetive reviews either. Not only is it longlasting on me, and i have perfume eating skin, but the sillage is good as well. Most likely it has to do with chemistry. Wood Mystique opens on me with a sweet tabacco note, it smells moist and reminds me of grandpa's cherry cigars. A little bit later the oud,rasperry and rose come out. It's a dry oud,peppery, with sweet rasperry and gooey ambery notes. On my skin the tabacco/cigar lingers all the way to the end. It's a well blended, unisex, high end smelling perfume. It reminds me of a mix between the arabian oil called macho man and scentstory 24 Gold. I tested this for one day and ordered a full bottle asap

I'm really surprised at the bad reviews of this. I usually am not a fan of Estee Lauder perfumes but I smelled this while traveling in Dubai and loved it. Someone was horrified at the blending of the notes but I find this beautifully balanced and blended. On my skin this is more Jasmine and Oud than rose and oud but despite the rebellious relationship my skin has with jasmine, it actually works here. There's something a little dark, a little animalic beneath the rich jasmine but it makes it all the more interesting and gives this scent more depth. I could not stop smelling my wrist. Have yet to wear it since I tried it but longevity was great. Sillage was moderate.

"Oud" and "bombastic" need not share the same bottle, and this is gentle enough, yet persistent enough, to make oud a welcome guest in most settings. The earthy rose whirls about the wearer from the first spray and casts a spell. The carefully calibrated depths of the remaining notes are present from the start, and maintain a presence for hours upon hours. I received comments that bordered on fascination rather than, "Ooh, you smell good," and personally, I'd prefer the fascination. The oud, florals, cedar, berry, leather, benzoin, and patchouli remain soft and never get dirty. It is 100% unisex and 100% what I want in an oud. Just right.

Oh boy! Oh my! What-a-beauty! If I were a judge of perfumes , or a fragrance sommelier , trying ALL oud scents that have been created from d&g to Versace to cavalli to Valentino .... This one on my skin is a total winner. The Oscar to best Oud fragrance goes out to Mystique! Thankfully all I have is leather and Oud. So strong and not itchy . I always wanted to smell like this on a warm summer night . It's the kind of scent that all my skin should smell like. Pretty much all seasonal if I may add. Again , a perfume that has to be tried on your skin. One of the few perfumes I want REALLY bad.

Wood Mystique ended up being what I hoped Amouage Lyric would be - a dry, woody rose suitable for a man. I disliked the Amouage because I felt the rose was a bit too high pitched - the green and citrus facets of Lyric together make that note peculiarly screechy. Wood Mystique's rose feels approximately an octave deeper, and to my mind better blended with the agarwood and resinous background notes. Note - both this and Amber Mystique are available online for shockingly reduced prices. Estee Lauder is selling this for $180 online for a 3.4oz bottle - mine was closer to $45 on Ebay.

Bought this yesterday after admiring it from a far all year. I'm not a huge oud lover and so this fragrance is just right. It has just the right amount of oud to give it that middle eastern smell but without it being too bitter or breathetaking. The syrupy rose complement the oud so well too. This is a powerful fragrance which I'm sure ill enjoy wearing over the Christmas period. Definitely more suited to winter. Sillage is moderate,longevity on the skin around 12 hours. Cracking unisex fragrance

This is my first experience with Estée Lauder fragrances. The inventor of this perfume should take a prize for understanding the nature of the middle eastern taste. This is one of few fragrances that will not change because of hot weather, humidity and the tough weather in Dubai. Plus it's extremely expensive but worth every Dirham. I'm surprised by the change from the 1st note to the 3rd. Love it.

I nabbed this so cheaply b/c the sprayer is broken. Smells good, rich, dark, a bit of rose and I guess the infected wood that is "Oud". Smells like a masculine women's scent or a feminine man's scent, which I like. Definitely sweet smelling. I wonder about the price being so high. Is there real Oud in there driving the price or just marketing? You sell it for what they will pay! love the bottle

Wood Mystique is a gorgeous raspberry and leather accented with a bit of smoky rose oud cocktail. This is so different from the prolific rose oud perfumes on the market. The raspberry and leather are the stars of the show. They are quite prominent in the base and this perfume lasts for days on clothing. Quite unique in my collection and suitable for cooler weather.

I love,love wood mystique!I have 3 bottles ....to think of it,l initially did not like this when l purchased it for my birthday last year,now am in love and purchasing back up bottles...I recently purchased the amber mystique,its stronger and smells medicinal l dont think l will like it as much as l love wood mystique....

The beauty and traditions of the Middle East in a bottle. Magnificent on the right person, and definitely unisex. Tons of pepper, rose, patchouli, oud, with a raspberry note in the base. Huge sillage, good longevity. I agree that Wood Mystique does have something of that Tom Ford private blend vibe going on.

I just got this today as a birthday present from my husband. This is a 5 star perfume. It is enveloping in a very mysterious yet classy and sensual way. I detect pistachios among the notes though they are not mentioned. It projects elegance and confidence. I am in love with it.

lovely oud and rose blend for the non-middle eastern perfume lovers who wants the woody scent, it sillage is enormous and longevity is quite good, could still smell it on my clothes even after washing. Even though the companymsays it's unisex, i wear it very well as a lady.

Amaizing! This one is a masterpiece! I smell woods, deep roses and raspberry on a leather base... Very sexy and sensual. I would say this frag is unisex, but also very feminine. This perfume is dark and deep and lasts forever! Great silage also... A MUST HAVE!!!

I sat next to a woman on the train yesterday and I was sure she was wearing EL's Cinnabar and was surprised as I hadn't smelled the latter in years. I happened by chance to try Wood Mystique and feel that this certainly resembles Cinnabar with very little oud!

I got this for my birthday.Sometimes l like it sometimes I don't, it reminds me of Tom ford black Orchid,but the lasting power is not as good as black orchid,but it does have a weird smell though..I still cant figured it out

Difficult one this one! I like the smell butttt when I wear it's well too strong!Most prob one drop required, neutral on this - I like it sometimes but not always.

I initially tried this fragrance when I spotted the tester on an Estee Lauder counter inside a department store. It was all by itself on a tiny display, away from the other fragrance testers. The word "wood" caught my eye since I love woodsy fragrances and have been looking for a new cool weather daily-wear fragrance. I sniffed and sprayed and it wasn't at all what I was expecting. Where was the wood? It's there, just not as prominently placed as I'd expect it to be in a fragrance named WOOD Mystique. I went on about my business and the more time passed, the more the fragrance grew on me. I don't find it unisex at all. On me, it is a very feminine fragrance, but not in a light and "pretty" kind of way. It's a strong and heavy fragrance, but it does have a softness to it. I get a lot of flowery notes at first, mixed in with cedar-y wood and something spicy, but the flowers are only slightly sweet, which is a big bonus to me because for some reason my body chemistry pulls sweet notes to the surface and they can turn cloying. As it dries down and matures on my skin, I start to smell more wood, resin and leather. Once the flowers have faded and I reach the final dry-down phase, I get what I guess is supposed to be the raspberry note, but on me it's just an odd little bit of something bright among the wood, leather, resin, and remaining bit of florals. I liked it enough to buy a bottle because it suits me. But I still wouldn't consider it to be a "wood" fragrance.

A few years ago my ex boyfriends sister wore this scent to their family gathering. I remember her explaining to me how she longed for this scent after bumping into one of her old acquaintances, so bought her own. When she sprayed it on it smelled of absolute heaven. To my memory, on her it smelled divinely woody with a touch of rosey-sweet darkened goodness. I was itching to have my own, and often thought about it... but with that price tag I had to make sure the purchase was worth it. I bought the scent online recently, and read a lot of reviews and considered purchasing it for months and months, and to my dismay it is nothing like what I remembered smelling on her. I sit here sniffing at my wrist... am I dissapointed? Slightly. It smells nothing like my recollection on her, to me it smells like a woodier, and pepperier version of spicebomb extremely masculine. I understand that it is unisex, but I can't work out how my body chemistry is completely rejecting it and turning it into something else. It's to do with body chemistry right? Sure, I get it. I decided to spray it on my boyfriend, he enjoys it more than me. What can I say it suits him! On him it smells very... what's the word? Regal, and expensive!!! My advice is that try again meticulously before you buy if you aren't certain about woody scents with a hefty price tag my friends :)

The opening of Wood Mystique actually features a distinct oud note with a kind of harsh and astringent facet, as if the fragrance will soon go wild. However, the oud soon disappears into a cloud of raspberry, pepper, rose and gardenia. This combination smells creamy with a very light touch of herbal patchouli, and actually is reminiscent of CK Downtown and Kenzo Flower in the Air when sprayed heavily. Later, there is also a sort of salty caramel feeling twirled into the scent, but overall it doesn't evolve much till the end. The sillage is moderate and it's incredibly tenacious, still easily detectable after 10 hours. While I do like the scent, it doesn't justify the so-called woody oriental image. Given the price, I wouldn't particularly recommend it.

I smelled this at the airport last summer and I thought: "wow, what a sexy deep wood. Grrr...you dark child :) This would be perfect for winter." So now that is winter I buy it online after thinking about for so long and I'm like : meh. This is do disappointing its like having a romantic encounter that you long fantasized about and it doesnt come close to the fantasy. First notes are just harsh, woody harsh and then it smells like a generic oriental perfume. Then after an hour it settles down to a dry leathery wood on my wrist and a smoky and sweet rose on my decolletage. Then after a while just a clean rose soap smell. Is that what the oud hype is about? Smelling soapy clean? Is it worth keeping for me? No, its not bad but its not worth the money.

A feminine rose/oud scent that's really, really gorgeous. The oud is definitely more of a woody oud/cedar mix, there's no campfire. I adore how well the rose and woody notes are blended here, too, because for people who aren't crazy about oud, like me, this makes it easy to wear and easy to love. I can wear it in public without being self-conscious. It lasts all day on skin and 48hrs on clothes. Projection is great too. I'm quite surprised by the short longevity comments. It's actually a special occasion scent for me because of it's potency.

For me, this smells very elegant, but is improved with a follow-on spritz of Ciara. There, I've said it. Now, having worn it many times before I layered it, I think it lacks any initial splash, but instead wafts its loveliness over several hours. Most times I have worn it, I could not smell much until an hour after I sprayed. I am glad I did not trade or gift it too soon.

A berry leather scent. Again, the name deceives me as i can't detect any Oud, maybe a 1% only. Very balsamic, the benzoin and patchouli are definitely throwing a big party in the base. It's nice, but nothing earth shattering. Glad i only paid for a sample. 2 weeks later: I'm beggining to like this perfume more as it has an outstanding dry down.

This opens with a good dose of cedar and florals. After a few hours it's more of a fruitachoulli with the dark wine-like raspberry and patchouli coming forward. A few hours later I realize it us more of a jammy rose oud. It is an interesting shape-shifting concoction. But often times it feels too trendy to be special

All I get is a dominant combo of rasberry, pink pepper and rose. This is not oudy enough, to be honest there's no oud in it and it leans clearly towards feminine scents. The performance is low-moderate overall. I can't recommend it as there are numerous better options than this mediocre feminine offering.

I really like this and I'm not a big oud fan. Its sweet and fizzy like sherbet with a leather jacket smell and a background of bitter woods. Its not cloying and is well balanced, not too spicy or woody. Smooth a little powdery, sweet and sexy. Didn't find it masculine at all though.

I am going to make this review short! If you are looking for a subtle oud fragrance this is the one for you. It's not your typical oud, as it does not project that much and it last for nearly 4 to 6 hours easily which makes it quite unique among other oud scents.

I think this is a nice fragrance but I need to wear it more times in different settings to see if it becomes one of the ones I love. So far is good. I think is sweeter than I thought, but is still in the initial stage, the dry down should be great...

Yes, it smells like Givenchy Hot Couture. But because the raspberry is altered WM seems not that slutty. I should admit to me together with altered raspberry it loses its adventurousness too. I had big expectations based on a pyramid but found nothing intriguing. I think it can be a story of person who comes to a perfume store asking "I wanna smell niche" and the consultant gives him this Wood Mystique. Just another rose-oud-patchouli option

I just tried this one tonight.. While my own personal critique isn't as harsh as AVATAR'S, I whole-heartedly agree. Upon testing, the very first thing I wondered was, "WHERE'S THE OUD?!?!?" Bond No.9's signature EDP has more oud than this!!! The raspberry didn't help, either. It's flat on the skin, turning quite feminine in the dry-down. This didn't deserve to be marketed as a unisex fragrance. It sat ON my skin and developed on its own while my skin just rejected it. But this isn't the worst part of this fragrance. Had this been marketed to a young WESTERN demographic (aka teenage girls) with a more playful theme, I wouldn't be so upset. But when something is exclusively presented to the Middle East in a gold/black package, you expect it to pay homage to the traditions of Arabian perfumery while putting a Western twist to it. This was a MAJOR failure in that regard. In the end, this smells like EL tried to make a rendition of Bond No.9's signature EDP and Bryant Park combined. They screwed this one up - BIGTIME. I wish Bond No.9 could file a lawsuit.. Estee Lauder needs to drop the gold/black packaging, change the name to something bright and playful then market this exclusively to teenage girls. There should be a restriction on which perfume houses can use oud. I can vouch for Montale, Amouage, M.Micallef, L'Artisan Parfumeur, Jesus del Pozo, Bond No.9 and probably By Kilian. The rest of the Western perfume world should just STOP it!!

On me - Meh-this is a pass . At least in cooler rainy weather it is. I tried several sprays on , two hours later I've got a rosey skin scent. I'll retry this in summer to see if it fares better then but right now I'm just glad that I only paid $16.50 for my 3.4 oz bottle that I'll probably swap,sell or gift . On me Wood Mystique smells of peonies and roses with a bit of raspberry and mimosa. These lovely notes are SWAMPED however by buckets full of rubbing alcohol and the cheap " cedar" note ( poorly used /blended iso E super?)that is commonly used by D&G Light Blue ( which in my opinion should have a Mr Yuck face sticker). This pervades through the heart notes until the base notes skin scent clean rose with hints of the excellence of the sequel Amber Mystique.

This is awful, on me at least. It's Lauder's attempt at a unisex niche/eastern scent and it fails totally. It's artificial, the cedar note is terrible, there are a million chemicals in it, and the outcome is not pleasant. Putting a raspberry note in with all this chemical dusty wood, just seems perverse. Not a safe blind buy. Tons of it on Ebay if you're a masochist. PS don't reapply during the day. The combination of fresh notes and drydown means you smell like a pub carpet. I've given this 2 goes now, and I wish I'd put on either Amouage or Lutens instead, because those two houses get it right.

Unfortunately this was a complete disaster on me. I own and adore Amber Mystique and was expecting something similar with this one so I bought it blind - idiot! All I smelled was pepper and the teeniest waft of rose. The pepper burned my nose hairs I'm sure, I haven't fully recovered yet. I tried using an unscented lotion, then Vaseline to create some kind of barrier between it and my clearly pepper amping skin but nothing worked. A complete disaster for me. If your skins amps up pepper notes then be warned and stay away! I Hope others have better luck than I did.

Wood Mystique is a great unisex-scent but I react to the Oudnote and sneeze alot of this one. On my skin I get a nice mix of Oud, rose, Cedar, Benzoin, Raspberry and Iris. Dark and mature flowernotes. Very longlasting on my skin. Wood Mystique är en perfekt unisex-doft men jag reagerar på Oudnoten och nyser enormt tyvärr. På min hud upplever jag en mix av Oud, Ros, Ceder, Benzoin, Hallon och Iris. Mörka och vuxna blomnoter. Väldigt långlivad på huden.

I'm a Middle Eastern person by berth, and for my entire life I've been around Oriental fragrances i.e. (Oud, Sandalwood, Amber, Incenses, Spices...etc.). But this fragrance for my nose is just a flowery spicy perfume! And very unpleasant "cheep" for that matter!!

This is an absolute mess of a fragrance. All I get is pink pepper and raspberry coated in nondescript florals, with a hint of cedar way in the background. Yuck!!! If you are looking for a wood scent, look elsewhere. Do not blind buy this people!!!

Oh my, this is too much for my tender sensibilities! I’m getting cow patties, the cow, and raspberry, followed by rose. I grew up in the country, and I don’t want to smell like the field next door, no thank you!!!!!!

Seemingly commercial concoction of Oud and Rose. It is very refined for a more mainstream audience. It didn’t blow me away as I prefer unabashedly barnyard Ouds. It’s a little dry and mature. Not for me.

the perfume made me smell like a concoction of clay and herbs, and frankly it was not nice...i would not buy it.

This is one of the few fragrances that made me go "wow!" First spray reminds me of a cherry cigar (?) I was confused that it smells like tobacco yet I friggin LOVE it! I'm not sure what note is coming off as tobacco but I really don't mind! So I'm pretty new to ouds, I only have one or two in my collection since I'm not too fond of pungent scents. The oud in this is pretty mild and medicinal, I feel the dry leather in this as well with something that smells "red" which is the rose and raspberry combo. The oud doesn't last on me throughout the fragrance's lifespan but maybe it's just how my skin is? It's a deep, woody raspberry floral on me with a patchouli dry down. There's a few similarities to other fragrances that I own; one review mentioned Givenchy's Hot Couture, I can see that with the "spicy" raspberry but it's not quite as fluffy, a little more edgy. This reminds me of Armaf's Club de nuit intense for women which is a dupe for Tom Ford's Noir de Noir. I'm smelling them side by side on my arms and I can say they're similar but not quite the same! CDNI is darker and smells more of oud and powdery rose while Wood Mystique is a dark scent but brighter with raspberry and leather. Armaf is more of a classy rock concert while Estee's is a deep velvet dress at an expensive, dimly lit restaurant. If any of the mentioned fragrances intrigue you, then you'll love this! But if you already have them then I don't think you need to rush out and purchase this.
