Don't Get Me Wrong Baby

I find this a beautiful fragrance, and, despite being lower key, and more unobtrusive than some of its sister scents, this is by far my favorite perfume from ELDO. It opens with a lovely blast of sweet white flowers. There is a sugared tartness to the opening which reminds me of candied lemon. The floral notes run through the heart of this scent, but the drydown is less tangy and sweeter, the marshmallow and cacao helping to make it almost gourmand on me. Don't Get Me Wrong is a fun, flirty girly scent. It's not as mature in character as some of the other scents from this house, but that's one of the things I love about it. It appeals to the girlish part of my nature, rather than the womanly part. Really great lasting power, and wonderful sillage, this perfume is really worth a try for any floral lover. ELDO scents seem to be exceptionally subjective when it comes to skin chemistry, however, so try before buying. The name is rather fitting for the scent, I think. An innocent(ish) name for an innocent(ish) fragrance. 8/10

Don't get me wrong Baby is a rather pretty lily of the valley scent. The opening is beautiful, intensly green muguet, infused with jasmine and guimauve sweetness. The guimauves keep the lily of the valley company throughout the entire fragrance, adding a fluffy texture. After the rushing green floral opening, the scent stays fairly linear. It's beautiful, really, truely beautiful, but I wish something more was going on. Anyway, this perfume made me realise I LOVE lily of the valley!

As I'm a man, I won't buy it (I have the sample from the discovery box) but... Waw. This is surprising from ELdO to make this sort of fragrance. Almost all of them are guilty pleasures, provocative, disturbing (in a good way, imo, I love that brand !) but not this one. Is it a bad thing ? No ! This is the cleanest, purest, safer fragrance of the brand, for sure ! So this is it, the fragrance of innocence ? It seems ! Lovely, adorable, sweet (in both ways, tender and sugar)... Tender because of Lily (of the valley) and Jasmine, which are 2 nice girls. And they invite you to their lovely house ! A lovely house full of candies, that sugar note I was talking about, marshmallow. So here it is, this is a quiet, silent fragrance from ELdO. Not original ? Damn no, this is original ! Hu, for what ? For the thing that's the first time, for a long time to me, I smell a fragrance without any ounce of aggression or fury. What I mean about that is the first fragrance for me, I can't smell ANY woody-oriental note ! The musk and the amber aren't here, I think their purpose is just to maintain other notes, and that's all. So, flowers and sugar, and nothing else ! It results a fresh, innocent, pure fragrance. So, is this the scent of angels ? It may well be.

I love the names and stories behind Etat Libre scents but this doesn't quite match the name although it is a lovely scent, of pure white flowers with light green notes that don't come across sharp and screechy like some green based perfumes do. I didn't get the marshmallow or the aldehydes(which is good because too much aldehydes kills my brain). But there is a noticeable air of musk and amber and a whift of cacao. An innocent scent with close projection and light-medium longevity. Good for bedtime and quiet time and unobtrusive for office wear, but not something I would wear for le seduction. I don't picture this as being worn by a coquette, and definitely not by a sweet young girl who won't even think of being in a situation that she has to pull up such a line! I picture someone carefree, young at heart at whatever age in cut-offs and barefoot, ambling down a sunny lane or along the water's edge on a beach somewhere. It would be safe as a blind buy or a gift for those who like simple, soft and sweet white florals.

- blind bought a pre-owned bottle of this fragrance for a good deal. I'm not a LOTV lover but the marshmallow and chocolate notes drew me right in. I read all of the reviews on this page and I agree with those that said this is a safe, lovely, and light fragrance. It's very lady-like and proper. The LOTV is toned WAY down and I love it that way! I smell way more jasmine and orange blossom/neroli than LOTV, but no patch or amber. Aldehydes are present throughout and blend well with the florals lending the fragrance a champagne-like sparkle. The marshmallow just comes off as powdered and sweet rather than distinctly "marshmallow". Longevity/performance and sillage are all quite low but I enjoy intimate fragrances and I will be enjoying this perfume all summer long.
