Fat Electrician Semi-Modern Vetiver

This smells like my old dog's vanilla scented rubber toys. Smells nostalgic, like a cloudy day at the dog park, throwing dirty squeaky toys across the field for my old dog Walter. Walter reminded me of an old man: he was a German Shorthaired Pointer who always walked with a little wobble, grew grey hair on his face not long into his life, and sighed whenever he laid down. I miss that guy. He had a little spot on the top of his head, and I'd always kiss it for good luck. I went with my father to put him down at 2 A.M. on February 22nd, 2024, and I had to go to school later that morning. It was my junior year of high school, and I was on heavy antidepressants. I wanted to feel something. I felt so numb, that I even wanted to feel sadness. Watching Walter die didn't make me feel sad. It was the fact that nobody knew I'd lost a chunk of my childhood, as if a clump of hair had fallen into my palms in the shower. Everyone's world just kept on spinning. When Walter died, he didn't turn cold and bloated like dead bodies do after months of lying around. He was still warm. He didn’t roll over on his side. He just had his head between his paws, and laid down with a sigh like he always did. Watching him get put down didn't help me get past the denial stage of grief. I felt like he was still somewhere, waiting for me to come find him, and inside a bottle of Fat Electrician may just be where he was lying in wait for my appearance. This is where he is now. He found me just a week before I left for college. As I’m in college now, I’m contemplating my entire life -- not in a depressed way obviously, but just observing. This is who I am, after all that I've experienced. I'm still that little girl who rambles about her interests and has lots of rules for how she lives her life. I'm still that little girl who likes quiet places where she can be in her world of imagination. I'm still that little girl who feels isolated from the world around her, as if she's looking at it through a snow globe. Fat Electrician symbolizes those dusty corners of my childhood that I didn't think to look at. The mundane, cloudy days at the dog park played a crucial role in teaching me to appreciate unconventional things that I find entertaining or intriguing. This smell isn't a dessert-like gourmand. It's a plasticky, artificial, warm, woody sweet. It's comforting. It does smell electric in a sense. Everyone can find a part of themselves in the memory this scent evokes. Edit: as I wear this more, I notice it doesn’t change it's scent profile at all as I wear it. I notice that after having perfumes for a while, my nose starts to pick up on things I haven’t smelled before. I smelled mint for a second, and then realized it was most likely the mint gum I had in my mouth. That's beside the point -- the performance of this fragrance really reminds me of By The Fireplace by Margiela. The same way Fireplace begins with an incredibly photorealistic burning wood scent, this opens up with a burnt rubber scent. It's beautiful. I’m also becoming more drawn to the creamy aspect of it. So beautiful and delightful. This layers perfectly with my Nivea vanilla lotion and cocoa butter body gel. I notice this doesn’t get a lot of compliments, probably due to the lack of projection. Perhaps if I layer it with something else, that may make it project a bit more. I'll look into that. Personal: 9.5/10 – Easily one of my favorite fragrances. Warm, dark, resinous, creamy vetiver with chestnut and vanilla. Gorgeous and addictive ON SKIN. Mass appeal: 7/10 – Dark vetiver is not for everyone, but the chestnut-vanilla creaminess softens it and makes it approachable. Performance: 8/10 – It's strong on my skin, but not loud enough to be cloying. Value: 7/10 – ELDO’s pricing is very fair for this level of quality and uniqueness. Uniqueness: 9/10 – Vetiver done in a creamy, gourmand-adjacent way? Absolutely unique, and executed to perfection. SCORE: 81/100 Full bottle buy? YES this needs to be in my collection. Blind buy? NO, it’s too weird on paper and too dark for some noses. Must be sampled and worn on skin. Recommend? YES, if you want to smell a truly unusual but wearable vetiver. Date night? YES, but only if your date appreciates darker, mysterious scents. It’s seductive in a brooding way. Not for warm weather, casual, or first dates. Office safe? NO, it’s too dark and rich for cubicle wear. Pros: One of the most unique vetivers ever. Creamy, resinous, nutty, and dark all at once. Wearable but still bold. Well worth sampling. Cons: Smells plasticky on paper. Too dark for some, and still polarizing if you don’t enjoy vetiver. Chestnut creaminess isn't for everyone. Fat Electrician is ELDO at their absolute best, a bit strange, definitely unique, but actually wearable and captivating. On paper, sampling it, it's plasticky, strange, and pretty unpleasant, but once you're wearing it, it'll morph into this deep, warm, gourmand-like vetiver that has a nutty, dark base, but rich warm vanilla and sweetness up top. It's addictive in a great way when I wear it, and it isn't too sugary and synthetic. It's on the fence between being a gourmand and an earthy, woody fragrance, and I've never smelled anything like it before. Again, this is ELDO in a way I think everyone should smell them. I love it. Every time I catch a whiff of vetiver in other fragrances, it immediately brings me back to this one. When I go back to smell this, it always smells exactly how I remember, and it is hard to forget. And yet, Fat Electrician is so hard to describe. I understand some people may associate it with cables and dust due to the promo images, but I believe the scent came first, with the name following. I don’t think it was made to smell like dusty cables in a warm office. It just happens to evoke that feeling, and evoke that feeling it does. My only concern here is that I am afraid that the more I come back to this scent that it will lose its charm. For now, it remains beautiful, unique, comforting, and woody. It feels fresh and clean without any soapiness, so I'd say it's a fragrance you would choose to feel clean and fresh without it being too obvious. It’s not a fragrance that brings up any specific memories for me, but rather one that I could see creating memories instead. Plus, it is consistent. I never sense it change, it's reliable and consistent every time I wear it, for as long as I wear it. If you're looking for an every-day clean scent without veering into soapy, this one is worth checking out. It’s unique, comforting, and reliably pleasant. There’s something about this scent that feels almost addictive. It might one day fill a quieter role in my collection, one that I can depend on to smell good without being attention-grabbing. I can easily see myself reaching for this when I’m unsure what to wear but still want to smell good. :)

This scent is a sad story a bottle, and I love it for that reason. If your imagination is piss poor and you need concepts explaining to you, then you will not understand the triumph that Fat Electrician is. The scent depicts a sombre person, well past his prime, slaving out his existence as a boring electrician, after being full of fantastic promise at school. He was the first one to snog a girl, and all of the boys wanted to be him. He was captain of the football team, but pressured by his parents to "get a trade" whilst also playing sport. He wanted to become a professional footballer; his looks and charisma would have made him tremendous, but unfortunately he just didn't quite have enough skill on the pitch to get signed by a professional team. In Fat Electrician, he is now 41, married to a dull woman, and he has 3 kids that are all little shits. He is incredibly depressed, but can't tell anyone about it for fear of appearing "unmasculine". He has a smell of faded beauty that hangs around him like a death sentence. And that precise scent is Fat Electrician. It is a work of pure genius. 10/10. Tells a beautiful story and exposes vetiver in a new way.

When I met my second big love in life, early this summer, I gave him a sample of this lovely perfume. We had only met once before, a couple of weeks earlier, but by the smell of his hugs, I had realized that I liked his feromones. And as he told me later: he had then told God: "just so you know it; she is mine..." So, I took a five hour journey to go visit him. I had already found out that he was a good man. I had got these samples as I bought something for myself, and I thought maybe this would suit his own scent of skin, as well as his personality. He is a bit older, and I too am older than I once was. He is a huntsman, has a dog, and is overall outdoorsy. He has gone bald, but has a well groomed beard, is well dressed but is not a snob. He has strong hands and muscles, and he is kind to me, as well as to people around him. He likes to help those who are in need. Well, it did not take long to find out, that he liked the perfume, and that I liked it on him, and that we belong together. He will sell his house and move the 400 kilometers to me. And I have bought a full size bottle of Fat Electrician for his Christmas gift... 💓

I have a few different personal interpretations of Fat Electrician, my immediate reaction was ‘This does not smell like the notes listed’. I’ve seen people describe this as a gourmand, and I can understand that if I smell it with that in mind, it’s not what comes to mind upon smelling it. There is a sweetness, but it’s so well-blended with the rest that it’s not the point. It smells dusty and haunting. It immediately made me think of these nightmares I have where I’m stuck in a sepia-toned haunted house. Despite this, it’s a comforting, warm scent. I heard someone say it’s like Christmas lights, which is funny because I think it smells a bit like Warm Bulb by Clue which DEFINITELY smells like 90s incandescent Christmas lights to me. However, this is more... metallic? I do not get the ‘sweat’ note that some people are getting unless I focus on it and try to deliberately interpret it that way, I never would have come up with that on my own. If you want a perfect visual for what this fragrance smells like to me, look up the artwork for the game ‘Machinarium’. I love this scent, it is very much a wearable art piece.

LOL ELDO! I can believe that this smells like a fat electrician someone - perhaps Antoine Maisondieu - encountered at some point in their life. The chemical-like quality of hot rubber (electrical wire, perhaps?) mixed with the sweaty and sweet body odor of a physical laborer. ELDO and Antoine were perfectly fine letting vetiver display its salty and swampy qualities in this fragrance, accented quite cleverly with the salty bitter-fruit smell of olive leaf. Skin-like sweetness is added with a lactonic note and vanilla. This perfume rides that very fine line between challenging fun, and challenging repulsion. I can't help but laugh when I smell it, but I also can't help but wonder if it's a good idea for me to be wearing this since I will likely smell like I went to the gym before work and didn't shower afterwards. ELDO has done it again - given us a far-left-field perfume that shows why they have been the go-to house for all things weird, quirky and off-the-wall for a long time. I love it... but I have no idea if I can wear it.

This fragrance made me cry. My dad died in 2019 after battling with a degenerative disease for six years and I miss him dearly. Fat Electrician, when mixed with my skin chemistry, smells identical to him. He was, in fact, an overweight Sicilian guy from New Jersey! But he wasn’t an electrician. I cannot stop sniffing my wrist because I’m in disbelief that this olfactory memory is attainable long after his body has been reduced to cremains. The sharp, burnt note that others have written about in their reviews (likely the olive leaf) smells, to me, exactly like his hair a few days after a perm. The sweetness of the whipped cream coupled with the sticky, savory marron glace somehow smells exactly like his skin when he gave me a hug??? Unbelievably accurate. I’m flabbergasted. I am so grateful to have discovered this scent. Do I want to smell like my dead dad regularly? No. Am I going to buy a full bottle so I can spray this on myself when I miss him? Absolutely.

Oh it is exactly what I was looking for. Opens with overheated electrical wires, rubbery and burnt, a a bit like the back of a dusty CRT TV with an emphasis on that plastic-y powdery scent. Then as it hits a midpoint the burnt smell fades to let the powdery smell develop and introduce a slightly sweet scent, almost shampoo like, then at the end it fades into a mild and warm almost vanilla like scent with a little bit of wood? By the time it's completely faded and gone in the morning you want to get that first shock of burnt wires back to repeat the addictive cycle. Unfortunately doesn't seem to endear others quite as much. Grandmother very politely described it as "...confusing, and loud. But I'm glad you seem to like it so much." I have learned not to spray it directly before getting into a car. Layers really well with Concrete by Comme des Garçons, they actually balance each other out a bit.

When I first reviewed it three years ago, I summed it up simply: “It just makes sense.” That still holds true today. Despite its quirks, there is a balance in this fragrance that keeps me coming back to it again and again. it has a quiet originality that makes it stand apart from more predictable scents. For me, Fat Electrician has earned a permanent place in my collection — not because it is the loudest or the boldest, but because it strikes that rare chord of being both distinctive and deeply wearable.

سرراست‌ترین عطری که تا به حال تست کردم، به این معنی که همه‌ی نوت‌های لیست‌شده توی فرگرنتیکا رو به راحتی توش تشخیص می‌دید. چینش نوت‌ها فوق‌العاده عجیب و جالبه و سینرژی خیلی بالایی با هم دارن. اول یه ویتیور خاکی و خشک رو حس می‌کنید، بعدش عطر شروع می‌کنه به تغییر هویت دادن. با نوت‌های خامه و وانیل و بلوط شیرین(ترجمه دقیق Marron Glace رو نمی‌دونم) میشه عطر، با نوت خامه حس و حال کره‌ای و چرب می‌گیره و به خاطر نوت برگ زیتون این چربی بیشتر می‌شه و حس و حال گرم‌تر و صمیمی‌تری به عطر میده. نوت‌های Myrhh و opoponax رو نمی‌دونم چیه ولی تک تک نوت‌ها قابل تفکیک و شناسایی هستند و این قضیه که این عطر از یه عطر خشک و انعطاف‌ناپذیر و خشن به سمت کاملا مخالف طی مدت زمانی کم سوق پیدا می‌کنه باعث شده یکی از دوست‌داشتنی‌ترین عطرها تا الان برام باشه.

I've smoked cigarettes less addictive than this for real. It's sweet and grassy and nutty and also weird with some sharpness and rubbery and metallic notes that all combine to make something so unique and beautiful. On clothes it blossoms, on skin it settles and warms up but the sharpness keeps it fresh. Like a slight mustiness that's actually really pleasant and grassy and soothing. Like wires and a grassy backyard with lots of trees meets a kitchen where you're caramelizing sugar and roasting chestnuts and the last attempt at the sugar got a little burnt. Gotta test how this wears in a colder season, the more cozy aspects probably really shine through. I'm in love either way.

Complex, creamy, nutty sweetness with a green backdrop. So rich that together they come across as almost alcoholic. Cut through with a sharp and artificial rubber note - could be a dealbreaker for you, but I think it works beautifully to sharpen a perfume that'd otherwise be a pretty inoffensive gourmand. WOW this is good!!! Fascinating and complex without sacrificing wearability. Normally I'm a vetiver hater - to be real, I bought this sample on a whim because I have an unbelievably bad case of the hots for an overweight older guy in my life, and the perfume name reminded me of him - but this is just delicious. A very unwise purchase but not one I regret!!!

Sooo intriguing I love this a lot. It’s soft, sweet, nostalgic and mature. Very vetiver and whipped cream forward with some nuttiness to it, but what makes it stand out are the soft rubber and even church-like notes lingering in the background. They’re not overwhelming, but they add strong nostalgic character to the delicate profile of the fragrance. The girl whose recommendation I trusted before sampling said that this smells like turning on a 2000s dvd player while eating a whipped cream topped waffle inside a church, and as crazy as that sounds I totally see it! I really want to get my hands on a full bottle, this is beautiful

I love this so much. A beautiful spicy vetiver with the nutty sweetness from the chestnuts and cream. Divine. Reminiscent of Vetiver Tonka but less sweet. My mum used to put vetiver oil in a diffuser in my bedroom, this smells exactly like my bedroom when I was a teenager. Transports me to a different time. Personally I dont find the burnt electrical smell to be too abrasive but I could be biased due to how nostalgic this scent is for me. Selfishly I wish it had better longevity but it’s inoffensive enough to reapply throughout the day. Will definitely be copping a FB.

Like the cedar-lined drawers of your mother's estranged aunt. You only encounter her life once through a series of things that you retrieve from the home: a musky soap that's cracked with age, lipstick tubes with metallic splotches, and some mysterious sweet powder that is somehow on everything. This scent is like a patina that ripens in dark, dry closets between genuine fur coats bathed in cigarette smoke and old timey cellophane. Appealing enough to wear everyday without offending anyone, weird enough to crave it in a primal way that evades explanation.

The idea of a fat male electrician is certainly erotic to me so I don't buy into this bullshit about it telling the story of bygone eroticism. Mmm, fat electricians... I think it's entirely fitting that this is so edible given how yummy the namesake is to me. I think a lot of people also tend to let the name lead them into directions that aren't there. It's sharply sweet. I get nothing suggesting actual electricity or wiring or metal parts. Just pure, candy-coated, caramelly vetiver and a vanilla base. A gourmand nuke.

Wax. Not quite grease and far too sweet for lubricating wax or silicon, it reminds me of what you think crayons smell like. It's light, and not unpleasant, like if a vanilla based perfume spilled WD-40 all over itself. I actually sprayed some good ol' Water Displacement to compare and while it lacks the distinct chemical note, it has a lot of the same base sickly sweet scent. I'm sad I don't note any cigarette-esque smells, as I was hoping for a more offensive scent, while this is one I'd be unafraid to wear to work

8/10 Smells exactly like I thought it would. Candied hazelnut and vetiver. And yep, it smells like those colorful rubbery electrical wires in a hot dusty attic. Sebum-y and oily in an endearing way. Very nostalgic scent. I’m getting the image of hanging out after school in robotics club with your friends in high school or college. It’s a very FUN familiar scent and I will be wearing it when I want to have fun. Hopefully people around me can appreciate its weirdness. It’s like Encre Noire’s happy little brother!

whoever was involved in the creation of this one is kind of a genius but also kind of sick because how the fuck do you make gourmand burnt wires??? I'm really into this one not because i want to wear it but because it's such a campy and fucked up concept that it makes me really invested in it. this one is for all my weird people out there that want to smell confusing but also slightly nutty and sweet, it's a lot more strange that Ghost in the Shell to me. brb let me chew on some wires 7/10

I love this scent. It perches perfectly on my unisex-fem-but-not-too-fem razor’s edge. Not overly sweet, but still whipped-creamy, and at the same time like unboxing a new stereo from Best Buy or something, sometime in the ’90s, when that was still exciting. I’m very sensitive to feeling like a scent could be too masculine, and this doesn’t do that to me. I love that it’s not for princesses. It’s for point-and-click DOS adventure gamer girls. Recognize!

I don't know whose butt crack some reviewers here are claiming to smell in Fat Electrician but if it happens to be that of an elegant female please introduce her to me because I'll smell that crack all day long. I get a smokey, nutty and sweet vetiver from it. Very enjoyable, sweet and just pleasant. People love it on me. About 5-6 hours in my skin. Delicious vetiver. I think people have been staring at FE's butt crack graphic for too long.

Very original gourmand, creamy, nutty, there's some caramelisation going on. With a nice, dry twist thanks to the vetiver which balances the sweetness. It projects rather moderately, but its a good thing with such a scent, if it was stronger it would be too overpowering. Would recommend rather for more of a fall to spring scent, can be good for summer in moderate climate, I can see it becoming too much with temperatures above 23-25°C

I didn't know what to expect from this one but deliciously burnt vetiver, with just the right amount of sweetness to not tip over into sugary was not on the list! I found it stunning, and a great companion through the day. Less loing lasting than I would have hoped, but no sweat or wires for me. Just something like having dessert on a patio overlooking a humid jungle, incense burning to keep bugs away. Loved it.

The clue is in the name: don't wear this when it's warm outside, or it gets, well, too literal. But oh boy, does this Electrician get sexy and interesting in the cold... it's good to have this big, witty man around to hug you and keep you warm in snowy temperatures. He's funny, charming and wants to ask you out for delicious dinner. My kind of man. But seriously, don't ever try this in summer.

Honestly, it smells like whipped cream, myrrh, vetiver, vanilla, some kind of resin, and a bit of sugar. But somehow all of this combines to create the scent of hot plastic and electrical wiring inside an overheating desktop computer. It's both gourmand and very artificial. Bravo. I love it. It's in my top 10 to keep. Edit: Less is more. Autumn and winter.

Testing this one for the evening. Reminds me of vetiver Tonka by hermes. A semi sweet nutty vetiver. Has been projecting off my arm for hours now. Even through a shower. I'm a fan, I may end up with a bottle at some point. I imagined this was going to smell like burnt electronics, but not at all. This is absolutely wearable. (To me as a vetiver fan)

Vetiver and rubber and a slighttt hint of sweet vanilla creaminess. It's such a unique scent, but it's also really friendly, approachable and comforting. I think this might be one of my favorites in my collection. A good perfume to wear to class. The only thing I would change about it is that I don't really get much projection.

I wonder if my nose is different from everyone's review here because this just smells really delicious to me. On me it smells like a sweet creamy dessert with just enough masculinity to make it a unisex scent. Like licking flavored whip cream off your man. Could be worn year round, day or night.

This is like standing in a small town midwestern gas station parking lot. They make their own doughnuts and have decent food. This is creamy sugary goodness enveloped in gasoline, rubber, and blue skies. There's no other fragrance like it and I'm absolutely obsessed with it.

This scent is amazing and completely unique. It smells less like a fat electrician and more like a fat mechanic, almost like a car garage coated in sugar. Each note is a star in itself, you can smell each one individually and all at once. Truly a masterpiece.

Very interesting smell and it is only one thing: a bigger motor vehicle service garage with the smells of gasoline, oils and all that kind of stuff. It is almost identical to the smell I smelt in such places decades ago so it is an immediate flashback.

The story suggests a life shaped by youth, admiration, and ease, followed by an inevitable settling into something more ordinary, a reminder that beauty fades and identity shifts with time. With that narrative in mind, the question becomes whether the scent itself carries the same sense of contrast. The opening is dry and lightly sweet at the same time, centered around vetiver. Alongside it, I pick up whipped cream, chestnut, and olive leaf. The vetiver, especially in the opening, comes across very ISO E Super–like: airy, subtle, and slightly fleeting rather than bold or earthy. It gives the fragrance a dry transparency rather than any real weight or density. The whipped cream accord adds a soft, creamy sweetness with a faint vanilla-like quality, something I’ve come to genuinely enjoy when used this way. The chestnut contributes a nutty sweetness that pairs beautifully with the creaminess, while the olive leaf introduces a slight bitterness that keeps the composition from veering into full gourmand territory. While these notes might sound rich on paper, the fragrance itself remains surprisingly light thanks to that airy vetiver backbone. After about ten minutes, the scent becomes slightly sweeter and a bit less dry, though it stays fairly linear on my skin. The whipped cream and vanilla nuances become more noticeable, but everything remains soft, restrained, and easygoing. Around the two-hour mark, myrrh and opoponax begin to emerge, adding a gentle balsamic warmth. This is likely where some people perceive rubbery or electrical facets, but I don’t personally get burning wires or sparks, only a subtle resinous depth. What stands out to me is how much this feels like a Molecule 01–adjacent fragrance, almost as if it were a flanker built around chestnut and whipped cream. I really can’t believe ISO E Super isn’t listed here or on the official website, because the structure and texture of the scent strongly suggest its presence. Antoine Maisondieu has managed to create something that feels sweet and distinctly fall and winter appropriate without being heavy or cloying, keeping it wearable, unisex but maybe leaning slightly masculine, and flexible across seasons. For anyone who finds Molecule 01 too understated and many modern fall or winter fragrances too thick or sugary, this strikes a very comfortable middle ground and is a worthy addition to État Libre d’Orange.

I almost bought Fat Electrician blindly, but I opted for Attaquer le Soleil and the discovery kit. Fat Electrician smells exactly as I imagined: a sweet, aromatic scent with a rubbery, tire-like quality (in a good way). It sounds surprising, but it works well. It's a bit experimental, but very pleasant. Its projection is consistent and light, which is a plus (it never becomes cloying). Of course, I could be wrong, but I think this fragrance suits me well. I'm a 34-year-old guy. I sometimes dress elegantly, paying attention to unexpected outfit combinations, and sometimes I dress more practically for walking my dog or simply blending in better with the city. I'm an urbanite, but I feel most at home in the countryside. I enjoy philosophy and politics, while also believing in the virtues of shopping. I often eat organic food, but I vape a lot. Well, I think this fragrance embodies all of that perfectly, its opposing facets. The woody and aromatic notes (vetiver, opoponax, and olive leaf) evoke a chic, vintage patina, while the sweet and vanilla notes (candied chestnut, vanilla, and whipped cream) contribute to the tangy, pop side of its identity. Its impeccable longevity and very moderate sillage make it a second-skin fragrance in which I feel comfortable and aligned. At the end of the day, the vanilla was a bit warmer and comforting, as the other notes faded a bit more earlier. I find this super smart if it has been done on purpose. When I woke up the next day, my arm smelt like labdanum (one of my favorites scents), a slightly vanilla labdanum. I bet it's because of its resinous facets. I should note that I don't usually pay much attention to the genders assigned to perfumes, but I find that this one has a rather masculine polarity, which comes from the 'burnt' resinous vetiver. Etat Libre d’Orange wants to be edgy and it always falls flat. The copy about this scent is about a once-beautiful young man, “Now, a Fat Electrician in New Jersey, his talent depleted in his sexual decline.” Fine, whatever. What does Fat Electrician actually smell like? It starts with a delightful creamy-fluffy vanilla that feels almost floral — I want to say orange blossom or something. Then there’s a very “wrong” choking smoke note; not smoke like charred wood but smoke like cigarettes or burning plastic. Is this the “electrician” part? It goes on for half an hour and it’s frustrating. Once the “choking” note is gone, though, we get vetiver + vanilla cream, which is a lovely combination. Vetiver tends to be dry and austere, so “fattening” it up with some pastry cream is a great idea, and I think it works here. The effect is subtly nutty and balanced; the vanilla forms a pale aura around the light-brown vetiver core. It’s lightly sweet but not overly so. Like all ELDO scents, Fat Electrician is on the sheer side; I do wonder what a richer “creamy vetiver” might be like, but this is a lightweight trifle and it works fine that way. Effortlessly unisex IMO; one of those low-key sleek scents that work fine in an office.

My first time smelling this, I hated it. It smelled like burnt electrical wires. I couldn't imagine who'd willingly want to smell like this. Robots on a first date? Masochistic electricians? But then, an hour or so later, I smelled this friendly, toasty, nutty sweetness wafting off my wrist. An intimate, very human, comforting scent. My second time trying this, I knew what I was getting into, and the opening smelled more ... interesting than repellent. Third time, I'm liking it from start to finish. This is synthetic but intimate, cold but warm, metallic but sweet. Definitely an acquired taste, but I can't think of anything else like it. EDIT. Just wanted to add: in the 2018 edition of Perfumes: The Guide, Luca Turin describes Fat Electrician as a vetiver finding "a surprisingly apt slot in an oriental accord," and (sidestepping the politics of the o-word in perfumery) that description feels spot-on to me.

I really really like this. I love vetiver and this os really a vetiver scent. Although everybody talks about that 'marron glacé' note or that whipped cream, for me the star is still the vetiver. Ok, it'a a little bit sweet but not like vanilla. More like that 'creamy' stuff everybody talks. But that's maybe 30% of the scent. The rest for me is vetiver. No burnt cable, no burnt plastic here. I got it at a really good price, around 60 euros for 100 ml on Notino. For that price(even 70) it's a blind buy for a vetiver lover. Strangely, it sits close to the skin in the beginning and is sweeter and than it develops into that nice vetiver. Longevity...maybe 4-6 hours but I haven't really got a vetiver that projects longer(I have: Grey Vetiver EDP and Parfum, Roja Vetiver Cologne, Hermes Eau Givrée and I had Encre Noir).
