I am Trash - Les Fleurs du Déchet

Fruit peelings on a fine wooden countertop in a country house. The promotional campaign for I Am Trash - Les Fleurs du Déchet is quite provocative, but (thank goodness) nothing smells rotten here. There are a few hints of overripe fruit, perhaps even the very beginning of fermentation for some (but I wouldn't say it personally), but nothing disgusting, just real fruit in a rural setting. And that's where the fragrance is unique: this very comfortable woody base, which seems minimally dosed, doesn't overpower anything. No overpowering projection, no aggressive longevity; it's a scent that lasts for a few hours, the length of a good celebratory meal. We're free to return to the table if we feel like reapplying a little of it. So, if this fragrance isn't truly scandalous, how can it be this popular? You could say it comes from its concept, but I'm pretty sure it only interests a small segment of consumers—including you. No, I think the popularity of this release stems from its rather unique take on fruit. It's light years away from those pop apple fragrances (and what's more pop than apple in perfumery?), and yet this fruit is the star here (along with a touch of strawberry). For me, it's about an apple in the making, being peeled, sliced, its juices dripping onto our fingers, and the stacked peels concentrating its raw aromas. It's incredibly addictive precisely because it's so unpretentious. There's a setting, an atmosphere, that some might find very bland for ELDO, but I, on the contrary, think it's one of their finest creations. It doesn't overdo it to be flashy, it doesn't divide opinion to create engagement; it exists for what it is. The slightly vintage/dusty feel characteristic of many of the brand's creations is definitely there, but with respect for everyone, from the wearer to those around them. And if you want to make I Am Trash a bit provocative, it goes wonderfully with Rien (I tested this combination by accident). But I wear it on its own. It's me, in my own little world, with my lovely wood and peelings, and it suits me perfectly. This is a good reminder of why I love perfumes (in general) this much.

In kindergarten we had fruit snack time where they would cut us plates of fruit and feed it to us in groups. I never ate it because I was scared of germs but I am absolutely HOISTED back to that memory. Sitting in circles on the cold floor with my tiny baby legs while the children around me feast. I probably should've had some of those oranges because now i don't even like 99% of fruit. This smells like playtime and being a kid in that era of my life. It reminds me of the other years of school with other kids lunches. Literally reminds me of being in kindergarten so unfortunately i love this from a sentimental base. It opens with Apple, Apple that I've been putting off eating because I don't LIKE FRUITS. then it moves to oranges and the apple is gone. Orange peel and more orange peels. The rose always lingers in the back while the fruits get turns being tossed. It disappeared quickly but it was a roller coaster of apples, strawberries and oranges while it was going. I really do like this and as an annoying environmentalist and someone with low self esteem the name and marketing calls to me. If I scrounge up money i will get a full bottle.

I’ll start by saying that if you are a niche snob dont buy this!!! Now that the annoying people are outta here, this is a all year around fragrance, could replace your Blue type fragrances. It opens up, with a bright ripe and oxidated apple (it is not overly oxidated to the point where it would stink, just a lil browning spot on the apple), after a bit some roses, come into play but like an old almost dusty rose for visual representation: 🥀 . And as it dries down an Iso E Super type smell comes around, and some other woodsy notes. Ratios: 40%apple, 30%rose, 30%woodys This is it, yes seriously this is it, the house of ELDO did something simple for once, it smells amazing and different without smelling like a dead horse or fecal oud, ITS NOTHING BAD THING TO HAVE A SAFE FRAGRANCE. Performance is good on me Good projection for 1:30/2 hours with 7 to 8 hours of longevity. Rating: Smell 8.5/10 Performance: 7,50/10 Versatility: 10/10 Price 9/10 (from discounters) OVR: 8,75 SOLID

A fruit salad wrapped in hot cellophane, at a corporate conference about fashion and image, where men and women mingle together, creating a true unisex scent. Black XS, pissed up on champagne and out of it's head on drugs. Bright, sunny, ozonic and chaotic. It is rebellion in perfume form. Wearing this scent is basically giving yourself the green light to rub apples and strawberries all over your neck until they are pulped, and then sealing in the fragrance with cellophane, like a freshly-inked tattoo, that makes you look cooler than you actually are. The Iso E Super within it gives it a sublime sophistication that is better than you, as let's face it, without I Am Trash in your perfume arsenal, you suck. This perfume will assert itself in your life as your go-to summer perfume. If you do not let it perform that duty, you are simply not good enough to own it. 10/10. Oof, this is a corker. No other summertime perfumes are necessary.

It’s good, not great. Definitely feel like it’s missing something. It’s pretty and wearable but seems like something I’d buy in a body spray at B&BW. I’ll use up my sample but I wouldn’t repurchase. UPDATE: I feel compelled to update my review. I’ve really come to appreciate this fragrance for what it is, and that’s a very wearable, casual freshie. For reference, I’m a stay at home parent with no one to impress but a few babies. I was leaving for the playground this afternoon, and wanted something extremely casual. This was the ticket. I did 4 sprays, but even after several hours at a farm and a walk in 70 degree weather, its still hanging on. It’s the perfect spring signature scent for a casual stay at home parent like myself, or maybe a teacher or someone who likes to smell nice without it being overwhelming. I adore this and WILL be buying a bottle, after all!

i didn't want to like this because i didn't want to spend money on it but then i caved and bought a bottle anyway lol. genuinely addicting even though the longevity sucks and the opening gives me a headache. maybe i'm a masochist. dries down into a musky, intoxicating skin scent that i want to smell like forever. i don't find it "clean" at all, but rather quite sleazy and putrid for the most part.. like i would wear this to the club on a hot summer night. won't repurchase because i'm always disappointed by the performance but looking forward to wearing it in 90 degree weather. update: my roommate reported that she can smell this on me 4 hours after application from the other side of the room even though i can no longer smell it on myself lol. she described it as like "sweet wood" and indeed "clean" :)

This fragrance is an odd diminuendo. It starts off almost with abrasive synthetic sweetness, to me, the obvious apple, and a small bit of strawberry, similar to the piercing strawberry in imaginary authors' cape heartache. The only real mid notes in this to me are the iso e and the very small amount of rose. The apple remains quite strong for a while, until it gets overtaken by the sheer amount of woodiness in this perfume. Over time, this fragrance is a simple progression from strong synthetic sweetness, almost to the extent in which you would smell in a bath and body works body mist, to soft complex woodiness. It's a simple, strange and cool concept. Longevity is a little disappointing, you'll only get about 6-7 hours. Projection is alright, nothing crazy. Not badly priced, as with all ELDO stuff.

What a name for something so... lively. The refreshing apple scent surprised me with how it wasn’t insanely sweet—I nearly gag when that happens. Instead, it took me down memory lane. I used to be obsessed with Gucci Rush 2, and if my memory serves me right, this has a reminiscent green scent. I only got this sentiment when the apple subsided after half an hour, and the dry down left me with nothing but the fresh cleanness with the right touch of sweet rose. This fragrance, full of familiarity from the past, feels like an older sister—matured and fresh version. Days later: Yes and a thousand times yes. Undoubtedly, 100/10

i am so happy i finally have a full bottle! i fell in love with this at first sniff and have gone through two samples of it. it opens so juicy, fruity, and fresh. like a crisp apple on a breezy day. the dry down is the most beautiful musky rose. this is my favorite rose fragrance and i say that as a “mostly” rose hater. i’m gonna have this in heavy rotation all spring and summer update: after a month of having my full bottle, i can confidently say this is my all time favorite fragrance at the moment. it makes me so happy every time i wear it. just complete joy it’s so beautiful

This reminds me of bouquets of red roses I would leave by my bedside and forget to throw out for weeks. After a while -- right at the point that they began to rot -- the petals would curl and turn a bruised purple and it would start to smell fetid and sweet. This is the smell of the decay of beautiful things. Heavy, mealy apple and acrid flower petal notes deliver you to the intoxicating beginning of decomposition. Leans feminine. Suits spring and fall. How I imagine the Haligtree in Elden Ring smells.

My favorite from Etat Libre d'Orange. Super juicy fresh green apple opening. This feels similar to Perfume.Sucks RED 198C. The citrus opening of RED 198C is lemon where I am Trash is green apple. Both have an amazing woody dry down that I can't get enough of. Maybe I'm just a big fan of iso e super. The overall presentation of this fragrance is a little less in your face than RED 198C, but it still has great longevity for me, and good sillage. I feel that this is a beautiful well thought out fragrance.

As somebody who really doesn't like apples, I was pleasantly surprised by this scent. The very first note to hit your nose is apple, but just as I prepare to guard myself against the potential for a sour finish, the rose provides a surprising softness and the woods take over. I feel like I can wear this around the calendar, but it's especially refreshing in summer. I don't find it overly feminine, unlike the majority seem to.

I'm one of the people this smells wearable and accessible on, but is still noticeably a little bit unusual. Smells like a green apple you've left to brown, maybe with a bit of citrus mixed in. To me this is the scent of Outside, even though it definitely doesn't smell 100% natural, and I like wearing it particularly in the cold. Love the name, the story and the memories attached to this enough to give it a love rating.

This starts out how a lot of people described, a blend of strong wood notes and rotting citrus. I was almost scared off by this as I am not super into either of these scents, but oh my god the dry down!! Once it’s dried... this smells so fresh and floral and clean! I absolutely adore it so far, this is definitely a competitor for my new signature scent.

beautiful and simple apple fragrance, I don't get any trash smells or rot at all. Its really youthful and a little creamy, almost smells like apple conditioner. Very similar to zoologist cow but with the herbs toned down. I do prefer cow simply because i am trash is a little empty smelling. it really is missing something to take it from good to great.

A beautiful, intimate fresh scent, clean, close to skin. At first it opens with apple, not the obvious one, but rather one that has been laying in the garden on a tree stump for some time. The drydown is quite creamy wood with a hint of freshness. Didn't expect to like it as I am not into fruity scents, but this one is a journey.

You guys do know that the name ‘I am Trash’ came from the perfumer experimenting with scents/notes and throwing used blotters and tissue into the waste bin and all of the fragrances blended together to create this final fragrance? Not actual trash, just a cheeky name for an amalgam of scents fused together.

Somehow I get a distinct saltiness on first spray of this. After it quickly turns into a super sweet candied apple and then faded into a sweet soapy scent with a touch of that saltiness that lingers. I actually really like this and do think it's unique, but not sure it's worth the price.

This perfume tickles something in my nose just right. After sniffing around an entire perfume store, this was the scent which stuck with me the most. Like apples, with something warm and mysterious sitting just beneath. Like others say, it’s a hard one to describe.

This is very fascinating. I do get the smell of overly ripe apples, which I believe is what they used to make this. I did spray on skin. Very fascinating scent, with a light woody undertone. Worth checking out. Not sure if I'll buy a bottle yet, but it's a fun one.

I love the scent but I also agree it's nothing super interesting nor unique. It's just nice and crowd pleasing. Very strong green apply with zesty accords. Slightly spicy, slightly masculine due to the addition of wood notes. I likes it for everyday!

Smells like sweet compost, if not for the bold name “I am trash” you would never think of waste. Very clean fruity scent with that chemically-induced just barely there plastic smell that’ll make you think of a trash bin.

The initial spray smells EXACTLY like cracking open a can of Monster Ultra Paradise... the drydown gives this VERY pleasant woody feel while still keeping the apple. Super yummy. Fruity without being too sweet!

Really really liked this one! It smells like fruit market on a hot summer day. Fruits only start to decompose under direct sun: not rotten yet, but still sweet and pleasant. Fades away pretty fast though...

Very cool smell, I would call it more floral than woody but both are definitely present! I find it to be pretty complex and hard to describe other than those general scent families. It's very enjoyable.

reminds me of D&G light blue, but with a slight difference, more my taste. i think it's the lack of citrus. nice clean fresh yet very cozy scent. need a full bottle asap!!!

Fruits but somehow not too sweet

Moving on to I Am Trash by État Libre d’Orange, the first luxury perfume created through upcycling. The concept is simple yet intriguing, taking discarded materials and turning attempting to them into something genuinely beautiful. Exhausted rose petals, already distilled sandalwood chips, and leftover apples from the food industry are repurposed to create a fruity floral and woody composition. The idea invites curiosity and asks whether something considered waste can become something special. The opening is fresh and bright, led by a crisp green apple note that immediately stands out. It brings to mind Suave Apple Essence shampoo from years ago, clean, juicy, and lightly nostalgic (I think I’m starting to learn that I just really love a good apple note). After about five to ten minutes the apple softens slightly and a subtle hint of strawberry appears. The strawberry works well here adding to the sweetness the apple was already bringing while keeping the fruitiness smooth and natural. After forty five minutes to an hour the rose begins to show itself. Rose is a familiar note for ELDO and here it plays a supportive role rather than taking center stage. It adds a soft floral touch that lifts the scent and gives it a gentle elegance without changing its easygoing character. Around the two hour mark a light woody presence begins to develop likely from cedarwood or ISO E Super. The woodiness stays subtle as the sweetness continues to fade. Some people describe this stage as slightly decaying fruit but that is not something I experience. To me it smells more like standing near an apple tree with fresh air and soft bark in the background. As the fragrance wears on it becomes softer and more understated with less sweetness and a faint woody base. It feels comfortably unisex though it may lean slightly feminine due to its fruity and slightly floral character. Even so it remains very easy to wear and I think anyone would smell good wearing it. I think this is a really nice one with a cool story that turns into one of ELDO’s most mass-appealing scents, made from some of the lowest-quality ingredients. It’s impressive what they’ve managed with what they had on hand, and it’s another fragrance that evokes memory the way the house does so well.

A very nice strawberry/apple fruity fragrance! Personal: 8/10 - Surprisingly pleasant and appealing. I enjoy this, despite the presence of rose. The fruit really tames it down. Mass appeal: 8/10 – Sweet fruits and soft woods are hard to hate. Performance: 6.5/10 – Projects modestly, acts like a freshie. Value: 6/10 – ELDO’s pricing is fair, but the DNA is simple, though well executed. Uniqueness: 7/10 – Fruit and wood isn't new or groundbreaking, but this is a particularly nice execution of it. Very realistic and smooth. SCORE: 71/100 Full bottle buy? NO, I don’t dislike it, but I wouldn’t reach for it often enough to justify a bottle. Blind buy? YES, it’s safe and fruity enough that most people would enjoy it. Recommend? YES, if you want a fun, approachable entry into ELDO that doesn’t lean too weird, unlike most of their offerings. Date night? YES, playful and sweet enough for casual dates or the summer. Office safe? YES, soft, clean, and inoffensive. Not cloying despite sweetness. Pros: Playful fruity and woody DNA. Very approachable, and smooth. Cons: Does lean synthetic, and performance is mediocre. Expensive for something rather generic. Despite the edgy name, it's actually very far from being trash. It's a smooth, soft, fruity woody scent. Strawberry and apple are nice and not too heavy, citrus rounds it out but stays quiet, rose sits in the background and is hard to notice, and the woody musky notes keep things grounded. The strawberry cuts through, with a slightly vanillic overtone likely from the apple, and it sits nicely on top of a darker base. I don't feel like there's much in the mid - it's mostly the fruity top and dark, clean base. It's pretty linear beyond the fruits slowly disappearing, but that's okay. I enjoy it, despite not wanting a bottle, and I enjoy smelling it when I do sample it. One of the better executions of fruits and woods, and one of the most approachable ELDO offerings. Got this in an ELDO discovery box. Was it opposite day at ELDO when they were naming this? This is a clean, fresh, inoffensive, safe, eery fragrance. Nothing trashy about it in the slightest. Opening - disregard any notes on Fragrantica. This is a 100% synthetic aroma chemicals based fragrance. The opening is very strange - i sprayed a hefty dose all over my forearm, and when i went in to sniff it, there was nothing. I was getting some good sensation, but no smell at all - i was like, wait a minute, did they gave me Molecule 01 by mistake? And ofc, its a Iso E Super heavy fragrance, combined with dozen other aroma chemicals Top notes: Apple Essence upcycling, Bitter Orange upcycling, Green Tangerine upcycling Heart notes: Rose Absolute upcycling, Iso E Super upcycling, Gariguette Strawberry upcycling Base notes: Cedarwood Atlas upcycling, Sandalore upcycling, Akigalawood upcycling My understanding is that all of these are supposed to give you the "feel" of the real thing, without being too heavy or realistic of a note. And i have to say, they are succeeding - the opening is fresh, eery, unobtrusive, the apple and citrus "feelings" are present, but ephemeral and don't overtake the composition. After the initial "freshness" a bit of a sweeter sensation settles in - i would guess this is where the strawberry and rose based aromas are getting into play, but i cannot say i can distinctly feel a separate strawberry or rose note here. "high quality sweet fruity car air freshener" comes to mind. Drydown - it's all about that fruity/strawberry-like inoffensive sweetness. Synthetic woods could be there, but i can't sense them. It is definitely a bit more feminine on the drydown than its during the opening. In conclusion, i think this is an interesting hot summer/hot spring day fragrance, where you wanna smell pleasant during a time when even the lightest summer freshy can come off obnoxiously loud - a Molecule 01 with a bit more to it.

The most underrated fragrance from Etat Libre D'Orange. scent breakdown - Opens up with a bright, fresh, and juicy apple on top of a metric ton of ethereal and woody ISO E SUPER. As it dries down, a slight green rosey facet comes out, and some woody agikalawood comes in to support the ISO E SUPER, but the focus never shifts from the freshly sliced apple and woods. A white musk comes out on my skin in the deep, dry down. personal thoughts - This truly does smell like a freshly cut apple on a hot summer's day. Super easy going, super easy to understand, and yet it's like nothing else on the market. While it is overly simple, both to its benefit and its downfall, this is truly a fragrance you can wear at any time and place. I've worn through almost half of my bottle already since getting it as a secret Santa gift. A must try if just getting into the house, just getting into niche fragrances, or love the smell of freshly cut apples. Straight unisex. performance - While the projection leads a bit to desire, this sticks on my skin for 8ish hours. rating - 8.5/10. Signature Scent Worthy. when to wear - Rolling out of bed on a bright and beautiful summer's morning; Playing pick up or tennis outside with friends; Late spring picnics while eating freshly cut, juicy apples song vibe - Up Top by Busty and the Brass TLDR - apple + woody and ethereal ISO E SUPER + Green rose + white musks. Truly smells like eating freshly cut apples with a warm, pleasant summer's breeze, catching the smell of the woods and greens around. Super fresh, easy to understand, and even easier to wear yet it retains uniqueness. A must-try if a fan of fruity fragrances, just getting into niche, or just stepping into the house.

The apple aroma is quite strong for about two minutes before a strawberry scent emerges, accompanied by rose. The strawberry aroma is prominent and delightful; it's my favorite aspect of the fragrance. This fruity note blends beautifully with the soapy, floral scent of the rose. At this stage, the fragrance gives off vibes reminiscent of a fruity shampoo—if you’ve ever lived in Mexico, you might find a resemblance with the scent of Caprice shampoos. This fruity and rosy aroma projects well on my skin for about an hour. After the initial hour, it settles into a skin scent that lasts until the fourth hour. As a skin scent, the apple remains present but is now accompanied by woody notes, particularly iso e super. The dry down is pleasant and straightforward, making it suitable for casual or office settings.

Alternative name suggestions: “I am that fruity body spray you use to douse yourself in when you were 12” “I am the sickly sweet, fruity shampoo your housemate used to love” “I am a fruit cake” “I am the air freshener at the airbnb that you stopped being able to smell when you got covid on your trip and you were grateful for it” “I am the cleaning product they used to use at your ex boyfriend’s church” In spite of the edgy name, it comes across a bit milquetoast. Can’t say it’d turn my head in a crowd. I don’t mind it. I get no overripe fruity trash nor apples specifically (strawberries, maybe). It’s vaguely synthetically fruity, and vaguely synthetically floral in almost like a clinical way. It comes across really thick and dense on me, like an air freshener in an enclosed space, coming off a little too strong. I kinda like it, might try it in different weather (freezing here now, it might do better in milder or warmer conditions). I’ll use up my sample but it doesn’t really suit me much. I don’t think fruity works for me generally.

I like the concept behind this perfume, the name is cheeky, and the scent itself is a light fruity freshie with a woody base. It’s a nice perfume to reach for on a super hot day, as it’s not overpowering, but somewhat refreshing. This is probably the most mass appealing scent out of the ELDO sample set, though the opening and mid are more feminine than unisex. I don’t mind that it’s not odd, in fact, I think this perfume is pretty on me. The apple is most apparent in the first half hour, but it retains some of its fruitiness into the drydown, where though rose is listed, it doesn’t smell like a rose perfume, just a sweet nondescript floral. The various woody notes add warmth to the composition, and I’m sure help with the moderate longevity. While nothing groundbreaking, as far as smell (it vaguely reminds me of La Imperatrice), the concept is fitting with the ELDO ethos, and is an easy reach in warm weather months.

Fresh, green fruitiness, supported by delicate woody and floral undertones. The greenness of this fragrance is mild yet dimensional; crisp, clean, sweet, and soft. I get musky green pear, a touch of pithy bergamot, and a little bit of woody greenness like the skinned core of a young tree branch, along with the listed apple note. Meanwhile, the woody notes are cozy, warm, and slightly ambery, swaddling the composition in dozy softness. It's a benign, delicate sort of scent. Like taking a mid-day nap in a cozy cottage that is surrounded by pear and apple trees. There is a bowl of harvested fruit on the table, earmarked for pies, and there are dust motes stirring in a shaft of sunlight from the cottage window. To me, this fragrance would be best suited to spring, as well as some early, warm fall days. Reminds me of Burberry Her EDT, but milder, and with more balance between the fresh-fruity and soft-woody accords.

Fruity - Apple forward shampoo-like with touch of some fuzzy dusty wood. This is definitely clean-soapy fragrance that contradicts the name - it smells like one of those children's/baby shampoo that is not meant to not hurt your eyes - there is that transparency yet flatness to the scent like the shampoo from my childhood. It's in the same vein as D&G Light Blue, Ferrari Light Essence, DKNY Be Delicious - clean fruity shampoo. However, There is a contradicting dusty-dirty-burnt plastic note that occasionally picks its head out through the clean scent vs. other aforementioned conventional clean fragrances that utilizes white musk. I feel this makes it interesting. This being said, sometimes there needs to be contradictions to accentuate the beauty. Perhaps, it's sending a message that we should not judge things by how it appears initially, or superficially. Simple fragrance yet has a complex message.

surprisingly light and refreshing considering the name and composition of this one. the apple gives it a certain crisp and tart sweetness that leans a lot more feminine in my opinion. I wouldn't mind if there was something in the core of this perfume that felt a little rotten or had trashy vibes (by all means I don't want to smell like actual garbage but I'm left wanting a little edge on this one for it to justify the name). if I had no context of it I would say this could perfectly be a random designer perfume. in the dry down I can feel a bit more of the woody notes come through, making it more refined and elevated than during the opening, but I feel like at this point I'm slightly fed up and blinded by the overly bright green apple it opens up with. amazing concept but it could've benefited from a few tweaks 7/10

I really like this. Beautiful realistic apple upon first spray. The rose shows up and mingles beautifully w/ the apple. Fruity notes go so well w/ rose. They always do. The woody notes never overwhelm they just add longevity and depth to a very pretty fruity floral. Would not call this an oriental at all. I am Trash (hate the name) why couldn't they call it An apple a day or something like that. But as for the perfume it doesn't smell like trash. It smells like a well crafted and well blended apple and rose perfume. Very girly, pretty and easy to wear. No one in their right mind would be offended by this pretty perfume. Only the stupid name. Better name how about I Recycle? I think that is much more positive. Anyway best true apple 🍎 fragrance I have sampled in awhile. Not shampoo apple, real apple.

The opening is really nice, it reminds me of walking past fruit stalls in asia, like imagine a very hot and humid day, fruit is laying in the warm sun slowly releasing this kinda fermented fruit smell. But not rotten. It opens up with a crisp but juicy green apple, with a nice smooth rose in the background, after the dry down i get this warm woody scent. I smell a bit of a plastic-y note too. But in the best way possible. The dry down is a bit of a dissapointment. On my skin it last like an hour and after that i just get those iso-E-super whiffs sometimes and nothing else.. i never tried the molecule 01 flankers but i feel like if they made a fruity/apple flanker this is what it would smell like. Opening great, just shame it doesnt last at all. 7/10
