This fragrance was a true love at first sniff, one that didn’t just make me fall for the scent itself, but for Etat Libre d’Orange as a house. It hit me like a punch in the nose, in the best possible way. I can’t stop sniffing my wrist, obsessively chasing it like a scent I want to bathe in, a scent I want to become. And yet, everything you read about it sounds a bit alarming: dirty, obscene, stinky, animalic, wild. But on my skin, it turns into something magical. It opens with a fresh, sparkling brightness -an energetic flash of mandarin wrapped in the soft spiciness of ginger. These two dance together like mischief-makers skipping down a red carpet, only to part gracefully as lily of the valley steps through: a little bitter, but delicate and clean, quietly pulling behind a shy yet clearly defined violet. For the first thirty minutes or so, it hovers in this delicate, almost suspended state. And then—here it is again. The magic. Those fizzy, bright notes begin to soften, slowly evaporate... and suddenly, an explosion of rose arrives, rich and regal. Musk and amber follow, warm and enveloping without ever becoming cloying. And then the talc—giving the scent not just texture, but a kind of physical presence, like something settling, something being tamed. And to close this extraordinary parade: leather. Just enough to ground the composition, the perfect counterbalance to all these fireworks. What’s incredible is how clearly every note can be perceived, yet how seamlessly they come together. On my skin, the overall impression is powdery—elegantly so—like fine talcum powder or expensive radiant face powder. The color that comes to mind is not pure white, but a soft, chalky white with a hint of pink. Cappuccino foam. It’s intense, a little melancholic, romantic and haunting, decadent yet undeniably clean. Like a ray of sunlight filtering through a curtain, illuminating a room where powder and perfume still linger in the air.

this is one of my favorites, perhaps even my no.1 favorite, from their full discovery set. out of them all, it’s the only one i feel i need a full bottle of, so i’ve just ordered one. i need to smell like this on a regular basis. also, the sillage and longevity of this is notably much stronger than the majority of all the others. yayy it is such an immensely sexy fragrance, and it makes me feel sexy when wearing it. you cannot judge this perfume based off of the notes or a half-hearted sniff.. you have to smell it with curiosity and allow it to meld with your skin for some time to uncover the real beauty of it. as many others have said, it is very powdery at first, but because the powder note is based upon rice powder, i find it to be very creamy and soft; not at all cloying. i’m not sure how people are claiming that this smells like sweaty baby wipes lol... upon settling down, the creamy violety powder stays put, and is accompanied by subtle ginger, white flowers and gentle animalics. deep, musky desire. it’s erotically feminine and ever so slightly skanky. it projects strongly for hours, but once it begins to fade it always leaves such a gorgeous skin scent. also, it mixes INCREDIBLY well with leather-centric and truly skanky animalic perfumes; eg. eldo’s clean suede or marlou’s carnicure. hot, sticky leather, a dusty bouquet of lillies, and pulsating, tender skin. somehow, it smells very similiar to opus_1144 by Sorcinelli, which is another deliciously sensual, alluring fragrance. “...fingers that tighten on a leatherette sofa and the palpable presence of raw desire.” - finally, an ELdO fragrance description that actually truly matches with the scent of the fragrance it’s describing!

So in love with this one. The name has nothing to do with the fragrance. This is pure elegance. It has a vintage smell to it. Intense, soft and delicate. For the woman that knows what she wants, when, where, and how she wants it. The opening is much like KATE from the western film Tombstone. The makeup, to the way she dressed, the hair, always by her man, Doc Holliday. I get that vibe. But as it settles it's more like Josie, watch it if you haven't. (It's one of my faves) When she first lays eyes on Wyatt Earp, she asks, "who's that?" They tell her who he is, she then says "I WANT ONE." (that scene, omg!) This perfume defines both of these women. Like the ending scene when Wyatt goes to find her, tells her he will LOVE her the rest of his life. She then tells him "don't worry Wyatt, my family is RICH." Laughing she then asks, "what should we do first?" He says "what you wanted to do the first NIGHT we met, may I have this dance?" ... Yes (she replies) "Then, ROOM SERVICE!" (Wyatt says) And they danced in the snow. This perfume is OLD WEST in the fanciest way. A feminine, intense, warm, powdery (not baby powder) makeup type, lipstick, more violet than rose but not in a prominent way. The amber with orange is the cherry on top to this perfume. A night time cold weather perfume in my opinion. Smells so good. Don't let the name throw you off. This is beautiful. Makeup, western outlaws, lawmen, and room service. Smells like what you would smell like when kissing one of those sophisticated cowboys, cigars, whiskey, & pistols. A mix of both, your scent and his combined. I can't really explain it, it's truly a masterpiece. Has a hint of Canadian Tuxedo DNA to it. Just a tad. BISOUS

Putain des Palaces для меня с первого пшика пахнет дорогой старой косметичкой, той самой, где смешались пудра, помады, тени и сама атмосфера женственности прошлых лет. Сразу слышу пудру, помадность, розу, фиалку, что-то винтажное, телесное и очень уютное. Аромат не кричащий, а будто мягко окутывает и постепенно разливается по коже. Со временем он становится еще нежнее и мягче, появляется ощущение жирной помады, теплой кожи и чего-то очень интимного. В базе у меня возникает образ кожаного дивана или корсета, который лежит в шкафу среди духов, масел и красивых женских вещей. Есть явное ретро-звучание, но оно не старит, а делает аромат более артистичным и необычным. Больше всего этот парфюм ассоциируется у меня с театральной гримеркой: жирная помада, пудра, кожа после сцены, воздух, пропитанный косметикой и чем-то волнующим. Для меня это аромат не про любовь, а именно про романтику, соблазн, поцелуй, телесную близость. Он женственный, сексуальный, интимный, томный, плотский и элегантный. На моей горячей коже держится примерно полдня, затихает медленно, очень томно, красиво переливаясь разными оттенками. Носить его хочется не каждый день, а на особые случаи, чтобы он не приедался и оставался чем-то особенным. Мне кажется, лучше всего он подойдет на весну и лето, на свидание, вечер или моменты, когда хочется почувствовать себя особенно нежной и соблазнительной. Отдаленно напомнил мне Trussardi Donna Rosa и хлопковую мягкость некоторых ароматов Solinotes, но Putain des Palaces звучит намного более телесно, пудрово и театрально. Для меня это аромат нежности, розовости, первой влюбленности и девственности, которая кажется чуть запретной и от этого еще более манящей.

SO French ho fo sho! Have you ever slipped out of a luxury hotel room, in the civil twilight, leaving your secret paramour asleep in the satin sheets? A quick powder, a change of delicate lace panties and brushing off the cocktail dress from the night before. Slipping on your Louboutin - Kate heels and quickly collecting the ample check for your evening transactions, from atop his valise and placing it into your Italian pearl embroidered clutch. You gracefully hasten down the large marble staircase holding the brass banister with your left hand and sliding your large Chanel sunglasses on with your right as you walk out of the hotel doors (sleepy doorman bowing slightly as he opens them for you) as if they are the doors of your own palace, end gracefully bending into the driver seat of your British racing green Jaguar with tan butter leather seats. You just smile to yourself, recalling the nights steamy romance, before starting the engine and driving off into the coming day with a Bryan Ferry classic playing on your stereo? ..... Yes. Errr. Neither have I. But, if I had, this is what I would smell like. As somebody else (I wish I could remember who) so poetically put it “French ho fo sho”. La putain la reine! Love the fantasy

I really love this. It's not like any leather / suede scent I've tried before, and I'm a pretty big fan of the 'suede' genre. I do think there is something that kicks it squarely into the 'gourmand' camp. It smells like dirty rice to me before anything else, which is an odd way for me to start of a glowing review. I think it could have gone the wrong way if it had projected more / been stronger. It's lighter, but that fits perfectly with the savory rice. It IS sexy and a tiny bit dirty, but when people say 'dirty' they usually bring to mind animalic and this is NOT animalic. To me, this is a "fourth date" smell. The first three dates, you wear your finest and fanciest. By date four, you have some fun, 'netflix and chill,' and order Chinese takeout. This THAT smell: casually intimate, a growing comfort and familiarity. It's 'fun dirty.' It's cozy dirty. I will say that compared to most reviewers, my tolerance for powdery is HIGH. I love powdery. So I'm a little confused why all the reviews are calling it a powder bomb when I think it's actually really creamy, but I don't trust my own judgment here as I can handle basically endless powder. Still, I'd call it creamy and smooth before ever calling it a powder bomb.

The fragrance goes hand in hand with its name, but it is not as wildly erotic as many suggest. It is understandable why some reviewers perceive it as provocative, as it is seductive but not extremely vulgar. Feminine, vintage, powdery, floral, sweet, and the nuance of skin/leather is noticeable. Although not many would agree, I pick up a faint touch of freshness. I see it as a fragrance you could wear to a date or a fancy location, but at the same time, I don't see it being an antagonist to the vast majority of places. It is vintage, it is intimate, and it can be sensual, but in a subtly cute and elegant way (as the name suggests, "Putain Des Palaces", translated, "Whore of the Palaces", referring to a high-class/royal promiscous woman or, simply, a courtesan). It succesfully paints up the image of a French woman who always makes sure to engulf herself in rich scents or material elegance. Reminds me of makeup (lipstick, setting powder, blush), it's lovely. Age-group wise, it all depends on how you present yourself, although I'd see it on a subtly mature young lady (seems self-contradictory but isn't). Lastly, contrary to some comments, I don't correlate it to the smell of a vagina/penis. Personally? I love it.

i absolutely adore the intoxicating scent that is Whore of the Palace. i now know what it smells like to be a slutty french pre-revolution aristocrat. glorius. silken rococo brocades with dainty lace trims, pallid skin caked with clouds of violet-scented powders, and atrocious amounts of blush. smelling this is probably the closest you can get to experiencing what it's like to be a part of the filthy opulent beau monde of the 18th century and their sordid affairs. this is splendor in exquisite excess. it reeks of dionysian hedonism. intense desire and surreptitious meetings in the dark. secret lovers sneaking clandestinely away into the night through palace corridors, moonlight dancing across parquet floors. the whore of the palace feigns innocence, a wolf in sheeps dress. lust and vanity beneath the guise of virtue and purity. not a historically accurate perfume, (let's be real french people probably smelled like shit back then) but more of a modernized overly curated take akin to sofia coppola's film. i will now wrap myself in this and assume the persona of a scheming, manipulating ancien regime versaillais courtier, ignorant of my tragic, but well-deserved fate with the guillotine

Do not be put off by the aggressive opening! After the baby wipes and peeled clementines evaporate, the rest of the notes come out to play. Putain des Palaces is multi-dimensional and shows each side of itself in turn. First you get the powder, then the cream, the rose, the fruit, and finally the musk and amber settle in for a warm, slightly animalic hug. The drydown is the sexiest part, and I mean that literally - there is something about the musk at the very end that smells a bit like sex (with someone who washes fastidiously). The leather and the ginger keep the composition grounded in the reality of the body. Luckily, this scent holds up as it changes. Longevity and projection are moderate-to-strong; I'll catch wiffs throughout the day if I wave my arms or rub my neck, and I have worn this scent to the office with no complaints. If anything, my coworkers were nicer to me than usual. Given its name and reputation, I was pleasantly surprised by how approachable this scent is! It's sexy and a bit camp, but nonetheless soft and pleasant, like a vintage peignoir you put on to make doing the housework less dull. Wear it if you like to feel cheekily glamorous.

It has taken a few weeks to get acquainted with Putain Des Palaces, and it has been rather enjoyable. When I first tried it, I was a bit perplexed. I was expecting quite a thick skanky powder, perhaps in the same vein of Boudoir. But instead I was greeted with a baby wipe scent. Not a bad thing, just wasnt what I was fully expecting. I felt a bit deflated at first, but I wasnt going to write it off. I was definitely going to persevere with it cos I knew there was something more to the scent. But naturally, I was becoming more drawn to PdP. I was reaching for it a lot, especially in the evenings before bed. Theres something magnetic, slightly addictive and somewhat intriguing, yet still warm and comforting. I was smelling a lot more violet than I did initially, and a whisper of ginger. I started to recognise the leather too, but it isnt as strong or nauseating as I was expecting. Its quite soft but still provides depth. I now adore it, and I'm glad I own it. I kind of get a yandere energy from it: innocent and sweet on the surface, but underneath theres a very dark, violent, obsessive layer. Very enigmatic, but boy it's been a fun ride. ❤️

Putain des Palaces Etat Libre d'Orange (60 usd, BNIB Tester, 100 ml.) I would personally classified Putain des Palaces by Etat Libre d'Orange as classic violet-iris with strong suede touch and floral support. This is remotely reminds me of other scent in this realm. However, what I like especially about this is the fact that this is more masculine than rest. Somehow, I think because of Suede element have mild animal tone and dry down to powdery amber. The transit is smoothly done between Powdery Iris and Powdery Amber. It has mild sweetness undertone from amber and floral (I don't get anything strongly, it kind of round). I think Putain des Palaces can be used by both Man and Woman. Because Suede dry down, it is smell quite handsome. This might be my favorite from this realm. 9/10 Ps. I think this make TomFord Violet Blonde great alternative. It is not definitely not the same, as Iris in Violet Blonde stays drastically longer. But the suede touch, the violet touch, the spicy touch, the floral touch is kind of there. I personally like this more than Violet Blonde, VB is a bit more womanly imho.

You are getting ready for a date. You just took a shower, put on your nicest outfit, sprayed "Putain des Palaces", and off you go. Question - why did you do this? Maybe you wanted to make an impression, and a long lasting one. Well, it worked... For the first hour/two you smell of divine powder and violet flowers, which makes you look elegant and classy - a true charmer you. But when the lights get dimmer, the conversations spicier, and the wine sweeter the hidden animalistic scent comes out in the form of bold leather and musk. This perfume is expensive but filthy, classy but promiscuous, elegant but almost pornographic. It is like wearing Bordelle lingerie under a Chanel evening dress. This niche perfume is perfect for colder weather and works great both day and night. On my skin it lasts for over 5 hours, the sillage is moderate, as it is meant for closer interactions, and not to fill up the room. It is my signature scent, a me in the bottle. I would highly recommend trying it out and indulging in the complexity of the fragrance. P.s. always test before buying, not a safe bling buy.

I got this after trying Juliette has a Gun ’Citizen Queen’, however that scent was less potent than expected yet somehow lingered around in the back of my mind for months. As I wanted to give another powdery perfume a try with hopes of a bit more strength and complexity, I decided to give this perfume a chance. Initially I felt this being a delicious skin scent-ish enhancer, almost as an aura of sweet florals and soft powder. The amber note really blends beautiful with a soft, animalistic and feminine leather note. If I spray too much the citrus and floral notes gets too scarp and linger too loud in the air which I am not a particular fan of. 3-4 sprays for the whole body is enough. If not over-sprayed it develops perfectly throughout the day. I am so happy I got this! My signature scent is ‘Lady Vengeance’ from JHAG which has a darker undertone and this one is probably going to be my second signature scent, despite its sharp name Putain des Palaces feels almost as Lady Vengeance angelic twin.

So many negative reviews or ppl who call it a "granny scent" i dont particularly agree with this. This opens up like a real powdery voilet bomb. Babypowder and almost lipstick like to me, and yes it feels really vintage for sure. But i really dont get the BO notes everyone is talking about. I must say, at first i wasnt sure about this one, especially smelling it on paper first. And the opening is quite spicy in a way i dont really enjoy but that settles after a couple of minutes. But after wearing it a couple of times this smells actually really cosy and sexy to me. It dries down to this musky, sweet; still powdery voilet and rose and i think its just beautifull. Also i dont get any of the animalic notes listed which i found to be a bit dissapointing. (Big fan of animalic notes in perfumes) At first i thought it was too fem leaning for me but as a man i really enjoy wearing it. I wore it today and got complimented 2 times. If i would have smelled this on a woman i would absolutely adore it.

This brand should simply be called Clean, as most of their perfumes, from what I've learned from this discovery set, are clean, powdery, soapy scents with a few outliers. And this is the most powdery of the set. I mean, I can get the lavender baby powder from under the bathroom sink and sniff it, and there is no difference. This IS the baby powder final boss. Doesn't matter if it's the initial spray or 5 hours later; it was baby powder then, it's baby powder now. And do I hate that? No. Pretty sure that was the point. If you want something powdery, you need not look any further than this. One could even call this Dove soap bar on the dry down. Update: Had it since Christmas and it's become my favorite powder perfume. I'm flabbergasted that people choose to sample or buy a powder perfume and then have the audacity to complain that baby wipes and baby power smell... like... powder.

My bottle was bought second hand and already maturated. The opening is a very bright and fresh mandarin orange that melds beautifully with creamy and starchy rice powder, baby powder, chalky parma violets, and sugared fresh rose. The dry down is what took this fragrance from a meh to a love for me. On the dry down, the powdery notes are softer and are accompanied by animalic (but still very wearable) and gentle leather, lily of the valley, musk, ginger, and raspberry skin. Vintage with a modern twist, gorgeous, ultrafemme, and decadent. Safe blind buy if you like lipstick or powder bomb scents. On my skin, this is safe to wear in public and I’ve received quite a few compliments. This is essentially my signature scent. I love to layer this with J&J’s classic baby lotion for an extra dose of floral powdery goodness or J&J’s cottontouch lotion for more of a fruity powdery feel.

THIS IS THE MOST.. ABSOLUTELY.. INTOXICATING SCENT I'VE EVER SMELLED I definitely get more of an 18th century Versailles courtesan vibe. I smell: Madame de Pompadour & Madame du Barry Ridiculously over-powdered faces and wigs Robe à la française, lace, the smell of the inside part of a yellowed vintage corset Mushroom clouds of powder, rouge, and lipstick The smell of the inside of a vintage makeup purse Animalic attraction. But then again, the modern version... the Sofia Coppola interpretation. What can I say, it is sinfully delightful and once I finish my sample I plan to buy the 100ml bottle and drench myself in it and smell like so much French whore powder it'll make people cough ;)

Very refined scent that starts off innocent basically like foamy baby soap, only to develop within fifteen minutes into a light sweet powdery seduction that corrupts more and more every half an hour - flowers first, violet slows down too fast a progression, but leather and animal undertones rather civet-like evoke clean and pleasantly sweaty bodies during the "performance", everything naturally covered only by a translucent screen for the curious, vulgar but not dark,... who knows what to look for, can smell it...lives up to its name...only pity for the final dry down in the form of bitingness and sticky amber
