Rien Intense Incense

Paradise, this stuff is pure bliss for the men of this world. Males of a certain.....errrr.....vintage, shall we say! Incense, labdanum, rose, leather, aldehydes and oakmoss amongst others combine to make an astounding nuanced, animalic and soapy scent of the highest order. This is mans man heaven! Us fellas have been mourning the loss of proper vintage gents scents and trying modern versions alongside new fragrances that do their best to mitigate the IFRA legislative madness and total BS, usually to no avail. This one from Etat libre d'orange feels like it has slipped through the net of red tape, thank God 🙏. There are a few other exceptions too, like the Naughton & Wilson and Rogue perfumes offerings that have the quality, strength and integrity of traditional male perfumery. Rien intense incense is very much in the vein of proper men's aromaband performs like it too. Kouros, Lapidus pour homme, Antaeus (old school formulations) and the like finally have a worthy modern addition to sit along side them, a cologne to carry on their glorious legacy. This product does come with a few very necessary warnings; :If you wear this your schlong may well grow to the length where you'll have to tuck it into your sock! :You'll instantly know how to take on MMA fighters and knock them out! : instantly, you'll have better insight than the managers and players of your favourite team. :Regardless of whether you have previous experience or even a licence you'll automatically know how to ride V-twin motorcycle to within an inch of its life....or yours! :The desire to convert your garage or spare room into a weights gym will be all consuming. :lastly, a considerable amount of extra funds will be needed to buy a complete new wardrobe consisting of not only motorcycle apparel but a pair of Trickers/redwing style boots, a high end and beautifully tailored sports jacket, immaculate button down shirts and well made Jeans that don't look like they've been sprayed on! It is illegal to wear this fragrance for the following reasons; :you are a vegan or vegetarian. :you are above middle management level. :you are unable to wire a plug, change a light bulb, check your oil etc. :are lactose intolerant or have issues with gluten, wheat etc. :do not consume alcohol (tobacco is not compulsory but occasional use will help with you application to own this scent....maybe!). :you drive an electric vehicle. :You're a fan of reality TV and social media. :you actually, truly care and BELIEVE what anyone else thinks about your personal choices and opinions is important. Females; Please do not spray this on your person unless you wear predominantly black clothing and makeup along with combat boots. Be warned, you may grow a male appendage and a taste for Steak, sport, engines and strong beer....the risk is yours. At the very least you'll have a trail of middle aged men in your wake to navigate, you've been warned! 😆listen, just a bit of fun but there are certainly glimmers of truth in there somewhere for the sort of guy that will like this, not that I'm identifying at all! 😳 It's just a very realistic and retro (to me) mens scent harking back to better times of free speech, common sense and opportunity for all! Beautiful but somehow both modern and classic with great performance. An excellent job. Speaking of performance, I've given this two full wears in reasonably warm temps, it's very strong, initially filling the living room! It's been detectable on me for the whole day and still more than a skin scent at bedtime. It's a fresh bottle so I'm going to hide it away (from further temptation) in the cupboard until Autumn when I'm assured by many others that the performance not only improves and smooths out but becomes a little darker. I can't wait! Incredible value as very little is needed per application and even better if bought with a discount. Straight to my top shelf where it will be a permanent addition, being worn often as the temperature cools. Beautiful, top level perfumery.

Rien Intense Incense is probably the most interesting creation from Etat Libre d'Orange and certainly their best performer. It projects strongly in the first hours; persistence on the skin is +24h, and on clothes for several good days. Rien Intense Incense is very interesting and perplexing. In its case, the "test before you buy" rule must be respected. It is a niche perfume par excellence, dedicated only to those with "acquired taste". It is for those who want to experience the perfume, not for those who wear perfume to "smell good" and attract admiring glances. The name that refers to incense is quite misleading. Rien has by no means the ecclesiastical smell of incense; if you are looking for a cathedral / mosque smell, Rien has nothing to do with this olfactory area, having nothing in common with Arabian incense perfumes, nor with Montale Full Incense, Comme des Garcons incense series, Filippo Sorcinelli, Heeley Cardinal etc. Notes that can be distinguished in the composition: aldehydes (strong in the opening), powdery iris (quite intense in the first hour), the smell of incense ash, a somewhat dusty cumin, some indefinite animalic notes, a very stuffy and somewhat mortuary rose note, very vague notes of moss (which seems to have been kept in dry earth), and notes of used, dusty, and dry leather (which are much drier than the leather found in other perfumes and which have nothing to do with either the sexy aspects of a rebel man / femme fatale, nor with gasoline accords – do not expect either Gucci Guilty Absolute, nor the interior of a car, nor a worn saddle, nor a leather jacket, nor suede, nor the leather characteristic of Francesca Bianchi's creations). These notes are characteristic of the first months of wearing. As the liquid matures, the smoky, tarry, auto shop etc. accords attenuate, and the aldehydes become stronger. Over time it becomes less dry and harsh and a bit sweeter. After 2-3 years of use, I detect in it a creamy and very pleasant honey note. Beyond listing the notes, how does Rien Intense Incense smell? Very hard to say and if you ask 10 people you might get 10 completely different answers. If I were to consider the side that attracts me, I would say that Rien smells of tar, pitch + the smell of burnt incense ash + the smell of a dusty auto shop + leather goods + metal greased with tar / dry Vaseline + the dry-down of Yves Saint Laurent Kouros, combined with the dry-down of the cumin from Antonio Puig Quorum + dry and dusty moss + floral notes, of which the iris is predominant in the first hour. If I were to consider the opposite, unattractive side, I would say that Rien is an exercise in unpleasant imagination: this is how I imagine the T-shirt of a mechanic smells, undressed after a whole day of work, full of oil, Vaseline, thinner etc. and left in a dusty closet for 20 years, alongside grandmother's sheep wool coats, soaked in mothballs. Rien Intense Incense is a dry, sober, dark, and truly gothic perfume. Rien has a breath of monochrome and vintage end of the world; in fact, this should have been called "La Fin Du Monde", not that popcorn bag smelling perfume also from Etat Libre d'Orange. In addition, Rien conveys something indefinitely animalic, mechanical, and sexual-morbid. Much more suitable for men, although it is a genuine niche unisex. It has nothing to do with contemporary mainstream perfumery and it brings back some indefinite memories from the '70s - '80s. Recommended for temperatures below 20 degrees. It is not suitable for the office, business meetings, going to clubs etc. It could be suitable where a goth outfit is appropriate, or in a nonconformist and open-minded environment. Do not give it as a gift, and if you want to buy it for yourself, purchase a sample first.

Rien Intense Incense by Etat Libre d'Orange is a dense, polarizing, pitch-black ambery leather fragrance designed to challenge the senses of those who encounter it. Firstly, as an incense freak: I love this stuff. It's not my favorite incense fragrance (That's Hermann, also by ELDO), but it ranks highly in my collection. I hesitate to agree with the title. Indeed, there's a smoky, incense facet here, but the perfumer (Antoine Lie) matched it perfectly with an animalic leather accord. There are some amber facets and a pleasant, almost dated, powdery aspect. However, our two most important players are incense and leather. It's linear, and many other notes don't register to me personally, but I wasn't interested in anything other than the incense. It starts phenolic and potent, almost with a pissy leather element, but everything cools off after a little while, and it turns into a velvety, bold incense with oily black leather and some gentle amber. I can see why this gets polarizing reviews and responses, primarily because of the smoke and the leather. Personally, I find Rien sort of charming and nostalgic. If you were looking for liturgical incense (think very piney, smokey, sweet & melancholic frankincense & myrrh blends used in Christian establishments worldwide), this is not it. I sprayed this around two friends, and we instantly agreed that this smelled like a spiritual shop (or a head shop). According to the other fragrantica users, this smells like nag champa incense, which isn't necessarily what I was looking for, but I'm glad I have this in my collection. Rien is a nostalgic fragrance for me. My mom & I used to go to this little shop near the school she taught at when I was a kid. I loved the shop's crystals and jewelry (gay omen!!! happy pride!!!), but they also stocked and burnt nag champa incense inside, and the store smelled precisely like this fragrance. Anyways, scent & memory aside, the price and performance of this one justify its spot in my collection. Amber and leather/animalic fragrances perform durably on my skin, and this is no exception. It lasts 6-8 hours on my skin and forever on my clothes. I wouldn't wear this one to work, except in the winter. ELDO has killer packaging and presentation: The atomizer is very responsive and balanced, and the bottle feels and looks weighty and expensive. Since it's an older offering, it wasn't prohibitively expensive, which I appreciate as a college student.

I find it very difficult to write about Intense Incense after having already reviewed the original. And yet, there are things worth saying. Where Rien is the fragrance of a magnificent funeral, Rien Intense Incense is more theatrical, more dramatic. To illustrate the idea with a cinematic comparison, I'd say Intense Incense is the scent of Charlotte Gainsbourg in Antichrist by Lars von Trier, whereas the original Rien belongs to Grace (Nicole Kidman) in Dogville, by the same director. The first thing that strikes me is how justified its existence feels. Far from being a purely commercial flanker, it simply reshuffles the deck, taking the same ingredients and placing them in a different order. You unmistakably recognize Rien, yet everything has changed. The aldehydes polish the incense, giving it a cool, vivid shimmer. The leather steps into the background, though it never disappears, while the overall finish becomes more metallic and noticeably fresher. And that freshness is precisely what makes this version so compelling. Intense Incense is smokier, brighter, and therefore surprisingly well suited to the warmth of summer. Even if it's still a rather daring choice for the season, I found it more fitting than the original while wandering through tourist-filled cities beneath the crushing heat of yet another French heatwave. I've read that, for some people, the current formulation of Intense Incense has significantly weaker longevity and a more restrained projection than the original. Personally, I think it depends on the conditions. The first time I wore it, I also felt it faded rather quickly. Yesterday, however, I experienced the exact opposite: it kept shimmering from morning until night without ever losing its presence. Was it the temperature? The humidity? Ask a chemist. Finally, for those unsure which version of Rien to choose, I'd focus on their personalities. If you enjoy fragrances that are sharper and fresher, go for Intense Incense. If you prefer your scents denser and more leather-forward, the original remains the better choice. Either way, the Rien experience is always richer if you've smelled the original first. So, which path will you take? Will you wander through a desolate Garden of Eden overrun by harvest mites, or will you try to outrun the relentless gangsters chasing you through the little town of Dogville?

wWOWw! Absolutely GORGEOUS! The very first comparison fragrance that came to mind has to be Kouros, or better said what Kouros (once was) before reformulations. The Aldehydes are used in a somewhat "Old-School" way, but not exactly. These Aldehydes aren't as Metallic or "Tinney" as say Grès by Cabochard, Aramis or even Kouros. To my nose the Aldehydes are a bit more of a modern take on the note, yet there is a slight old-school feel to them here. What mainly reminds me of Kouros is the "Civet like" smell although I see Civet is NOT in the notes list? That note is also blended beautifully in Rien I.I and is accompanied by an OBVIOUS Incense note which imo is a colder/clean insense with possibly a touch of smokiness if any smokines at all. The way the Clean Insense, the Rose and slightly powdery Iris note are blended here really is TO DIE FOR! Also I am getting the rubbery "New Tire" smell people are talking about, but its faint imo and really does add to the over-all dna making for a more interesting wear bc it doesn't over-power the other notes and isn't at all a distraction. Now, if anyone has smelled Initio's Oud for Greatness, or Lattafa's Oud for Glory, those also have a "Rubber smell", but that Rubber smell is way, WAAAY more subdued here in Rien Intense Insense and while it sticks around in Oud for Greatness (which I love), in Rien Intense Insense its completely gone within minutes. This smells "Expensive" and imo is quite "Unisex" maybe leaning a tad Masculine, but I dont think people would bat an eye if a woman walked by smelling Like Rien I.I. And the performance? As nuclear as people say it is, yet it still manages to smell amazing although no more than 2 spritzes is truley needed, probably even with just one spritz your good all day. Im not prone to giving high scores all willy-nilly like, but this things a freakin' 10 outta 10 in my book next to Ramon Monegal's Mon Patchouli. I very much highly recommend Rien Intense Insense, but ya must like Aldehydes and Civet which are divisive notes, plus they are pronounced in this beautiful fragrance!

I feel a little stupid for not realizing sooner that this fragrance is themed after the Kaaba. The black box with gold trim on the bottle should’ve given it away immediately! The moment I smelled it, it is indisputable in my mind that is what ELDO was going for. It feels very intentional to me. Rien (and Rien Intense) smells very HUMAN in a way I cannot describe. This isn’t sandalwood or nag champa incense in Chinese or Indian shops. I feel like the notes here are deceptive, the "Incense" note is holding a lot of weight here. If i were to wager a guess, I would say that incense note is a combination of oud/agarwood/bukhoor, rose oil, frankincense and myrrh. The smell is smoky, woody, skunky, sweet, and resinous. It absolutely fills a room, and it will bring back memories in one way or another. For me, I am brought back to memories in a childhood friend's house and some hotels that I have slept in previously. It makes me picture a small, cozy room with rugs and tapestries. Some may call it a church-like incense, but I find this very homey and cozy. In Western terms, it’s closest to Calvin Klein’s Obsession or Elizabeth Taylor’s Passion, though this feels more authentic and refined. It's even slightly fruity, soapy, and sharp. In the western world, you will be a little unique for wearing this, but not the kind of fragrance for playful moods, but any comments saying it smells "satanic" are culturally insensitive and offensive and we should not perpetuate it. Makes me feel serious and professional. I want to put this in my "love" category but my love for this one isn't a passionate burning love, it is a quiet appreciation. Also, it smells identical to Rien (not intense) just a little stronger. sillage: enormous. longevity: eternal.

Without too much hyperbole, this is like an S&M club rented out a Catholic sanctuary. It is almost exactly the sum of the 1980s gold cap Bandit EDT melted over Interlude's base: wonderful. Everything you read is true. The intro is a synthetic Lovecraftian burst of high-octane aldehydes and bitter IBQ. Truly weird and not entirely pleasent but slowly burning out to reveal touches of sweet rose and iris before fading into a sweet, smoky incense and leather afterglow. The dry down is deceptively inviting and slides between comforting, sometimes almost sickly sweetness offset by glimmers of animalic sweat. Surprisingly classic for its time with an understated chypre structure topped by 1940s aldehydes and floral, but the labdanum and patchouli base are cleverly bolstered by amber and incense, toeing the oriental line. Great volume and density compared to most thin-blooded modern fragrances, but by no means close to violating the Geneva Convention. If you hate RII, that is very much your right and I can see plenty to loathe here. As to other common comparisons, Interlude Black Iris is in the right ballpark, but far politer and posh-- this uses floral aldehydes instead of iris and lacks the pricy (Javanol?) amber-wood structure and its attendant projection and transparency. And while RII could have benefitted from a slightly higher budget, it is far weirder, the difference between Rammstein and Cold Play. (P.S.: RII is of course technically a flanker of Rien. The original is a lovely dry animalic leather but more Knize Ten than Bandit with lower volume, better manners, and shorter half-life. While there is a family resemblance, the two are not interchangeable albeit both worthy in their own right.)

Let me tell you a story, I was small living in a modest house of a big city in India, part of a typical Hindu family. In my vicinity, we had a huge market that was spanning across multiple streets and I used to hate going in there as it was too tiring and unpleasant but I used to join the grocery hunting sport anyway. Every year we had a great religious festival that we used to celebrate quite enthusiatically and the preparations involved major chunk of shopping in this market for all the necessities. At the end of this shopping, the most important pieces of the list were to be collected from a peculiar shop that used to exclusively sell the items for religious preparations for the said festival - such an incense, attar, specific spices etc. and the whole shop had a strange yet alluring aroma to it. This perfume is that aroma of the shop from my childhood. First sniff from the tester sample and it transported me back to that place and time; the smoky envelope of the incense, the dense rosy sweetness of the attar, the vastness of the spices, plethora of flower hawkers lined up the street and the mossiness emanting from the last remainder of the rain showers - everything came beaming into my face from just a spray. I guess this is what perfumery means, and I am happy that I find myself to be an ardent admirer of this artistery. I dont see myself buying a bottle because this is more of a sentiment/nostalia offering rather than outright carrying that smell on me, but I see the allure of it to some people. For me, I am just grateful for this trip down the memory lane and would keep the sample as a page in timekeeper.

Powder, touch of Iris, touch of Citrus (bergamot/peach/black current?), Aldehyde, Dark Myrrh, Incense, Soapy Rose, Clean Laundry Detergent, Dark Leather, touch of creaminess from the Labdanum, supported by notes of wood & amber, and Oud Notes balanced and strong quality juice! This is what i think YSL Libre 'should have' been! This is a stunner, strong personality, feminine, powerful yet sexy 'come hither' submissive. Amazing for the winter while wearing an overcoat, and spray it all over your midriff chest in a sleek full dress to let everyone in the room know what a sexy goddess you are! Spray it on your cozy sweater while running weekend errands, and perfect for evening galas. A qualm could be it has a hint of retro-outdated, but the other modern notes of Iris and Incense and the light Citrus note pull it into a more in stylish direction. I think this might be the reason why this is over-looked & slept-on by Fragcom. The perfumer here is talented and knows how to balance notes. This is not a trailblazer scent, but perfume done right! Think of this horse as a "Dark Aldehyde" scent genre, mysterious and alluring! The note of clean Laundry Detergent comes more into play on the drydown. I absolutely love this on a woman! A sexy intoxicating perfume without being a gourmand. Great dinner date night fragrance. A fashionable signature-worthy scent to make men think of you in a sexy classy way, and other women being envious of the person you are. Too feminine for a man, perfect for a woman, and would be amazing for a gay male to rock on a night out! Highly recommended! 4/5 Woofs!

Ok I admit it, at first when I got a sample of this perfume, I was taken by surprise. I didn’t like it. But as the sample sat on my bedside table I kept being drawn to it . I was intrigued by its uniqueness and just how different it is from all of my other fragrances. I wanted to smell more. To understand it, to get to know it. Why didn’t I like it? After all I love all the notes. I kept being drawn to it . And then just like that, one day I fell in love with it. I couldn’t get enough. Then I heard there was an intense incense version of Rien, so of course I had to get my nose on it as well, and I found that I loved it even more than the original. So much so that I now own 4 full size bottles . Two of regular Rien and two of Rien Intense Incense. I intend to never run out of this weird but amazing concoction. I am wearing 6 sprays of this one on my right arm . I figured, it’s Saturday and I’ll be home all day, I won’t be offending anyone with my fragrance. Then I just remembered I need to stop by at T-Mobile. Oh well, I guess I am getting thrown out of T-Mobile.....lol I forgot to mention I am wearing Prin Mongolian Mriga on my left arm. Sooo....yeah. I’m gonna offend a lot of inexperienced noses. Who cares. Not me. I never let ignorant idiots bother me....But if even one man tells me he loves my perfume, I’m marrying him...lol Just kidding I’m already married...and he hates 99.9% of my perfume collection. And being that I own over 1000 fragrances, (with decants and samples included) that’s just about everything. He seems to like my vintage ones . I do too. 🥰

Oh, you gorgeous you! An authentic smell of gratifying decadence. Imagine fancy parts of the interwar period. Tea parties, jazz bars, Art Deco, cocktail dresses with halter neck, chic women, faith in technological and social advancement; all that glamour and luxury. Remember the era's fragrances: Chanel No. 5 (1921), Molinard Habanita (1921), Lavin My Sin (1924), Lavin Arpege (1927). Maybe even Coty L' Aimant (1927), Dana Tabu (1932) or Schiaparelli Shocking (1937). I find all these to be larger than life, some aldehydic, sweet, and powdery, some more on a spicy floral side, cold but exhilarating, and all so elegant, timeless and powerful. Yes, some might consider them "old lady" fragrances these days; some might recognise them as classics. Whatever your choice is, we still remember and (or) wear them today. They are continuously inspirational, as is the era that brought them. ... I like scents that make me reflect, and Rien Intense Incense certainly does. In this goodness, I smell the time passed. Every whiff of its aroma envelopes me in the silk cloak of the classy nostalgia mentioned above. The perfume is sumptuous: balmy, powdery, but only slightly so, aldehydic, floral and animalistic. The leather note is delicious, and the incense note is crazy good- a true masterpiece. The result is remarkably feminine on my skin. Additionally, it is a very long-lasting fragrance that projects well. I believe this one is a treasure.

If the whole world wasn’t conditioned to love mass appealing scents, this would shine brighter than a round brilliant cut diamond. It’s mysterious and unparalleled; strange yet terrifyingly gorgeous. This opens up as a powerful incense scent with a subtly animalic leather. About 30 minutes later, sweet gentle ambers come out to guide you to the heart of the journey. The aldehydes then appear out of nowhere to further elevate this fragrance, adding an airy fresh-laundry twist. The smokey oakmoss blends beautifully with the slightly leathery labdanum to deliver a lightly medicinal bittersweet mid-layer. In the drydown, initially, I can sense a vegetational vibe reminiscent of buttery iris mixed with earthy patchouli. In its last couple of hours on your skin, a powdery and woody rose reveals itself to mark a happy ending. I don’t quite understand the catholic church comparison, but I will say this: wearing this in a religious setting can help transcend even the best of spiritual experiences. Personally, I find the most joy wearing this on a cold winter day in the forest or the countryside. As I said before, this is quite aggressively strong so it mustn’t be overused, unless you’re thinking of suffocating those around you and/or making yourself nauseous. For ultimate enjoyment, apply no more than 2 sprays for indoor and up to 5 sprays for outdoor settings.

I love the original Rien, it's my top incense fragrance for me, and the gold standard for incense IMO. I put off trying this because I honestly didn't think it could be any better than the original. But something in my head nagging me to try it so I bought an official sample. Now I'm thinking there's no way they could make it any stronger because the original is absolutely nuclear. First Impression: I spray it on, and guess what? I'll be damned if they didn't make it stronger! 😲. Now, full disclosure, my nose tells me they only made the Nag Champa incense stronger (hence the name intense incense). They took the incense from 100% to 150%. No change to the rest of the composition but I'm still testing so many my opinion may change. I actually wish they would have boosted the musk in addition to the incense. Is it redundant to get Rien intense if you already have Rien? Yeah, I think so. Would I buy Rien Intense if I didn't already own Rien? Yeah, I think so. They took a decadent fragrance, and made it even more over the top. Sometimes too much of a good thing isn't a good idea. It's like adding double the hot fudge to an ice cream sundae already drowning in hot fudge. And I'm here for it. But otherwise, the original is perfectly satisfactory to me. Scent 9.7/10 Performance 10/10 (lasts through a shower and probably a nuclear winter)

Amazing!!! This is what the hot goth girl that works at the local headshop smells like after she’s off of work and you run into her out and about. It’s incensey, dark, and bold and it’s wonderful! Let me start out by saying this incense and Amber all the way through. Those are what you’ll mostly get out of it, yes it does have rose and iris and patchouli and those are all there in spurts, but the incense and amber are your main contenders. I don’t believe there is any leather at all in this because even the smallest hint of leather sends this weird nauseous chill down my spine, but this doesn’t have that at all! It might be emulated by the deep Amber notes, but I honestly don’t get any leather at all, which I actually prefer that. This is exactly what Slow Explosions from IA should’ve been. It accomplished everything that does, but without the medicinal saffron note that ruins Slow Explosions. Honestly, this could have a bit of the medicinal saffron to give it a bite but it’s perfect without. This develops as it dries down, into something a bit more bergamot, Amber, and a bit resinous (probably from the cumin). but that incense smell never truly leaves, lingering as if there might be a stick of it burning in the back recesses of your home and aren’t aware that it’s still sticking to you and everything else.

I am surprised by the negativity here towards this perfume. It's fine if you don't like it. I would respect the negative views of those who have/had it and don't like it. But those of you who don't own it, never owned it, please be more respectful. I HAVE 6 YEARS wearing this beautiful fragrance. I buy a 100 ml bottle every year for 65-70 Euros in Europe (notino-website). To those who think the performance is moderate, and try to sabotage other people from buying or trying it, let me tell you that no perfume will create the cloud that Rien II creates. Even Red Tabacco by Mancera would loose itself in the cloud of rien. Rien II is literally a well-crafted perfume, the definition of NICHE. It is my second favorite fragrance ever made. While I think the NIGHT by Frederic Malle is the most well-crafted perfume in existence, you haters of RIEN would have hated it too. I just think people love to wear NICHE because it makes them more special than those who wear designer fragrances, but are still loving the NICHE ones that lean towards designer fragrances (many Tom Ford's here for example). Etat Libre D'orange is one the main Niche Houses (period), and this is confirmed by industry specialists, not me. Just too much negativity here, too much ....

Autumn evening in a dense spruce forest, the surroundings bear signs of intensive logging and a tall church tower rises against you. The side nave of the church is built of roughly hewn logs, the portal is open. You enter, but good few dozen meters before you can already smell incense in the air. You walk between the pews and climb the long spiral stairs to the pulpit...two more and you are at the top, open a small door and behind them on the wall is...a ceramic urinal with a blue-green deodorant puck thrown in the middle - the scent of pine and sea breeze...shocking, inappropriate, it's a dream, dark, intense, a cologne from the 90s but this scent is not old or outdated, you have to be a strong personality, don't be afraid of the first half hour and then...first-class signature fragrance material. NOT FOR FRESH fragrancers, better suited for older men (40+, might be younger but you should be certain type to pull this through). Make a mix of George Clooney , Ryan Gosling and Tom Hardy. Dark greeny-grey scent with a hint of blue. One of the strongest fragrances of Etat Libre d'Orange, it definitely does not suffer from rapid evaporation, on the contrary... be careful not to apply more than 2-3 applications unnecessarily.

10/10 L'une de mes fragrances préférées, ultra violente vraiment extrêmement puissante, un sillage qui remplit la pièce. Une odeur complexe et irrationnelle qui représente l'odeur de l'encens dans une église ou cathédrale mais avec une vibe très dark, comme une cathédrale gothique abandonnée et hantée, très sombre, la nuit au milieu d'une forêt, une ambiance de film d'horreur. Performance nucléaire: il tient 3 jours sur la peau, ce n'est pas une blague, malgré des douches et d'autres parfums. Mais attention, il s'agit d'une fragrance vraiment très spéciale et très très violente, donc ne surtout pas blind buy avant pas seulement de l'avoir senti mais de l'avoir porté toute une journée, car l'odeur est tellement violente qu'elle vous enveloppe complètement et peut être étouffante. Pourtant j'ai des compliments. Update: au final pas 9/10 mais 10/10, il est vraiment parfait, son odeur est enivrante, j'en suis fou amoureux, et je suis très étonné de cela mais j'ai énormément de compliments avec ce parfum. Après quand je le porte depuis moins de 1 heure 30, les gens autour de moi toussent tellement sa performance est nucléaire mdrr.

Rien Intense Incense took me to this parking lot at Duga Radar, Chornobyl, even from my very first sniff. I went there in the middle of August, 7 months before the invasion. The place was packed with tour busses and the busses were packed with tourists from all over the world. We got off the bus, walked around a while, stood at the base of the mighty Duga while warm weather accompanied a breeze, dragging a little dust from the ground. Everyone was silent, almost as if we were waiting for someone to turn the radar on again -but it was still abandoned. This fragrance (or may I say, "time machine") reminds me of that exact moment, when I smelled "abandonment", gasoline, rubber and dust... But is it like a punch in your face? No. It's like you finding a grandma residing in a shed close to the radar, and she's telling you how she had to run away and then come back to Chornobyl again, while you are having your varenyky she offered to you. Edit: A (slightly) less intimidating version would be Papillon's Anubis -please do try wearing it as well if you love but are not sure if you can wear Rien.

I remember a few years ago, I went searching for a perfume with the scent of church incense. I found a cheap sample of this ELDO and, eager to try it, sprayed it in my car immediately after receiving the package. Without reading any reviews about this fragrance, I was shocked. It wasn't what I expected at all. Instead of church incense, I smelled Indian incense sticks. Thanks to this perfume, I also discovered aldehydes; they're a strong presence here. The whole thing has a very dark feel. To me, it's a scent with retro overtones, depicting someone who reads tarot cards and runs a small esoteric shop in a small wooden building near the forest, while also practicing necromancy in a cemetery after dark. It's not a safe scent to buy blind; it's a unique, powerful oddity. Two sprays and it fills the entire room, lasts on the skin for over 10 hours, and clothes practically smell like laundry. I love this perfume with all my heart, and I know for sure that I'll be buying it again after I finish this bottle. Rien Intense Incense will either repel you or steal your soul.

You've walked into an ancient house of worship. Everything is made from aged wood with ceilings that go on forever. A deep guttural chant reverberates through the floor and through your very core. Hundreds of tea lights flicker in unison with the vibrations. It's the fragrance itself that's the subject of worship. It's the most beautiful incense you've ever smelled -- woody, powdery, aldehydic, and mossy, with a rosey sweetness that's more like sandalwood than a rose. This is a scent I want to wrap myself up in, but I feel like the incense smell would be tricky to wear in a public setting since it seems like a love-it-or-hate-it type of incense. This is a gorgeously rich and alluring scent for any gender. I was so afraid to try it, but it's the best incense scent I've smelled in either a perfume or an incense. I've craved it and worn it more than any other of the scents in the ELDO sampler because it has such a presence. It makes almost too bold of a statement to wear in public, but I've done it anyway.

Why do I love this one so much? I must be weird. But I’m drawn to smelling it. It festinates me. I bought 2 extra back ups, only I don’t think I’ll ever finish even one bottle, only coz I have to give some wear to my other 400 perfumes . I try to wear 3 different scents every day. One in morning on my left side and one on my entire right side. Then after 6pm I do same. And at bed time I play with my hundreds of samples . I try to smell 6 or 8. And find the ones I love enough to buy full bottles. I’m wearing Rien Intense Incense tonight and I just adore the dry down . Soooo addicting . I don’t get any one note, it’s as if they all morphed into this unique and interesting perfume that you’ll love or hate . No middle ground with this one. PS Here’s an important tip. Sleep with ear buds, always. Coz u don’t want a spider or some other creature crawling in your ear. You won’t be able to get the scared spider out.

Ok I think this is my all time favourite fragrance. The feeling I get when I wear this, I can only compare to the first time I've smelled Kenzo Homme in 1995 and Encre Noir in 2010. The first time I've tried it it was a scrubber. I literally rushed home to wash it off. It took 4 testings. My theory is that the soapy, urinal cake, Incense stick note is so strong that you need to kill your nose with it over time to feel anything else in it. Now I get all the nostalgic, musculine, sharp notes. I don't want to write about the notes because they still confuse me. It may smell like a floor cleaner from 40 years ago for all I know, but it takes me back and I don't want to return. It literally excites me, it's an experience and an idea of an artistic performance in perfumery, realised. Longevity is eternal, it projects like vintage Kouros and it's such a maladjusted, inspiring piece of art.

A cannonball blast of intense resinous and smoky tones. Excellent sillage; your neighbours will be able to smell it through the wall. Superior longevity; it will remain on your skin until you are cremated. Be very careful with this fragrance, as it is as savage as a hungry tiger. Once it's on your skin, you'll need Swarfega to get it off. To appreciate this fragrance, you have to absolutely love incense, myrrh, frankincense, smoke and resins; basically everything you would smell in a decrepit, smoky church. Only a true olfactory prize hunter will want this in their perfume collection, as it decimates any other scent in it's way. If you want people to smell you five minutes before you arrive, and for hours after you've gone, this perfume is for you. 10/10. I fucking love it.

Wow! This is bold, sharp, pungent, and complex; a love letter to the old-school classics if ever there was one. The spicy accords here are piercingly sharp and tangy, but they're rounded out perfectly by supple leather and warm, resinous sweetness. The aldehydes are another star note, bringing a bar-soap crispness to the entire composition, which balances beautifully against the subtle dirtiness of the incense. Meanwhile the rose note remains tangible in the background, providing a vein of floral elegance. In this iteration of Rien , I smell the crisp, elegant aldehydes of Chanel No. 5 mixed with the supple, earthy spice of Antaeus, with an added pinch of Youth-Dew's sharp, piercing opening—that cold/hot stab of intense, sooty spice. Unapologetic, spellbinding, impressive.

Might just be my skin chemistry, but I'm surprised that so few people have mentioned the rose note in Rien Intense Incense! On me, this monstrously powerful potion translates to mostly incense and rose. There is support from cumin, leather, and eerily sterile, silky aldehydes. I'm not a big fan of florals in general and rose notes specifically tend to give me a headache, but this perfume approaches rose in a way that's totally palatable/enjoyable for me. Rien Intense is how a plague doctor might’ve smelled -- flowery, smoky, and morbid in the most delicious way. The hype about this fragrance's sillage, projection, and lasting power is 100% serious. I wore it while working from home and my roommate could smell it a solid 15 feet away from where I was sitting. Loud.

Wow, what a whirlwind. With a sniff of the vial, I got incense straight away. I was totally delighted. But then, freshly dabbed on my skin, I was instantly offended! There, the incense was overpowered by a force ten gale blast of tire aisle. Fortunately, that curveball dulls by the minute and the scent settles into a harmonious blend of its notes. Rien Intense Incense is an intoxicating, beautiful beast. It smells just like what you imagine when you think of incense. Leans more leathery than smokey. Akin to Babycat, but more incense-y than vanillic. It was a hard pass from me at first whiff, but fast forward to an hour later and there’s a full bottle in my cart. Obsessed! EDIT: I am now the proud owner of a 3.4 oz bottle. My signature scent. GOAT!

Rien, yes. Nothing but sadness. A classy sadness or depressive type of smell. You smell a very loud incense scent. It’s beautiful, a bit of rose is here mixed with woods and a airy type of leather. From the exterior yes it’s beautiful, classy elegant. But then smoke comes from the heart and the lungs of this fragrance. Now the woods burn, the leather too and the incense takes even more place but it’s the literal smell of depression, a real depression. Like everyone’s going to like the smell, like a friend group cannot suspect on of them being in serious depression. But there’s something depressing among all these smoky smells, insanity. Like there’s « rien » left for him. L’odeur de la solitude cachée derrière un beau costume.

This one is a beauty! The incense and the leather are quite dominant. But, the contrasting accords of poweriness, spritzes of black pepper that lends it some spiciness and a hint of sweetness from the patchouli makes for a great blend. It really offers a high class experience. A perfect suit and tie fragrance. However, I feel this can be worn casually too provided you feel comfortable with its non-mass appealing character and you wear it for your own experience and do not bother about what others really think. I am sure there would be some good noses that would surely ask about this stunner and shower you with some compliments. However, I think this is to be worn for the experience and not necessarily for attention

I love this one so much that I bought a back up. This fragrance is addictive, u love it but u don’t know why, and u want to keep smelling it. I doubt I’ll ever need the back up since a lil of this scent is all u need, but.....u never know. So many beloved fragrances have been and are being discontinued. I’m not taking a chance. Two big 120ml bottles plus a 120 of the regular Rien should be enough to last me the entire life. I do have and wear other fragrances so I’m not gonna run out any year soon. I must stress this one is NOT blind but worthy. Please sample first. I didn’t like it at first, but the more i smelt it the more I fell in love. This happens to me quite often with unusual and weird fragrances.

From a lot of 20+ ELDO samples: I really like this one. Spicey, incensey, amber. This is pretty much what I wanted out of Amouage's Interlude Black Iris I think. It's also pretty similar to it as well; as soon as I tried my sample I was reminded of it. This one is much less vegetal than Black Iris (one of my critiques of the Amouage), and a bit less sweet though. Dark and strong and really really nice. Almost feels like its coating the back of my throat through my nostrils lol. Been looking for a going out fragrance and I think this one will be just that. Really nice and dark and smokey. Mysterious and alluring. Think this one would be a head turner for sure.

An absolutely great scent that does all the things I love. It does start off a little strong at first but quickly calms down which leads into a ambery, spicy, leathery and incense scent with touches of a smooth and sweet florals and a surprising aldehydic clean soapy note and the patchouli shows up a little. Nicely blended and the amber keeps it smooth throughout the whole experience. Perfect for winter and fall and if you love spices, floral and incense/oud give this one a sniff. Really interesting how there’s a fresh floral cleanness while still being warm , dark and woody and leathery. I’m really digging it and performance is great.

Glorious. Smells like Rien, of course, but where Rien is a bit fancy and clever- oh, pencil shavings! It smells a bit like No. 5, how charming! and so on - this is a great big cheery obese slobbering idiot, running at you with an equally massive wobbly natural rubber dildo and plans for the next 12 hours. Everything’s huge and fighting for space, it might set off sensitive fire alarms and it’ll absolutely give fake headaches to all the sensitive souls who still subscribe to miasma theory or whatever it is they believe. Rien probably smells nicer, truth be told, but this is more fun; if Rien is Ren, meet priapic goth Stimpy.

Crazy how many people have different perceptions of this fragrance. For those familiar 70/80s powerhouse house fragrances will instantly recognise this profile. The aldehydes, leather, florals and oak moss . To me it’s shocking that Chanel’s Antaeus is not listed on the reminds me of section. That and Kouros are the closest to it. My perception of this scent is based around those classics. I don’t see this as an amber incense scent like say Tom Ford’s Amber Absolute. Make no mistake, this is a Chypre fragrance. For those seeking that old school vibe this might honestly be a better buy than current formulas of those scents.

I LOVE THIS. Possibly my my new signature. Aura-making, bold, unapologetic, easy to wear (apart from office I guess), maximalistic, dark, warm, piss-smelling, intense incense. Pretty linear scent with leathery-smokey-frankincense character. The aldehydic notes at the beginning as well as the amber and pepper notes make it easily a unisex perfume. I dont get much rose. I did not experience that long of a duration, as it s been said here. 9 hours at maximum. And to be said, I dont mind. My skin still smells lovely afterwards from a really close distance (1-2cm), as if I had used a moisturising oil.

This is an experience to a new level of perfumes. I can easily smell smoke and leather just as much as floral scents. but with all kind of heavy smells, there's also a very pure aspect at the end that I LOVE... I would love to wear it during winter nights, but maybe guys would appreciate it even more... I wasnt so into INCENSE fragrances just befor this one... which was a good way of acquintance! the total vibe is DARK and CANDLE like although being floral and SOPHISTICATED ... I iove its performance and longivity never fails you down when trying to impress someone ;) 10/10!

I was trying some ELDO samples, and Rien was the dark horse contender that ended up stealing my heart. This makes me think of a beautiful, mature woman in all black, with tights and patent leather pumps. There's nothing frilly or childish about Rien, but God is it sexy. The opening seems to go on forever. Leather and church incense with a little aldehydic sparkle. It gets a little earthier and spicier in the dry down but develops a slight powdery quality. If I had to think of something to compare it to, it's a smoky, incensey Chanel No. 5.

Flashing lights and sirens, guy on megaphone saying "step away from the perfume, repeat, step away from the perfume".... This is nuclear, like, sociopathically nuclear, but if you spritz delicately two or three times from a distance no closer than 20cm from the skin, and with GREAT caution, it's wonderful! The scent is magical, combining waxy, soapy aldehydes with murky incense and a patchouli-ish leather accord. It's the goth sister to Melograno, and she may go postal and kill everyone in the neighborhood.

This was the first perfume by ELdO i bought a full bottle of after sampling the original Rien and being super impressed by it and I think I might actually prefer this version. This is super strong and not a safe blind buy. I think it has a vintage vibe but in a more modern way, it‘s definitely something not everyone can pull off... it‘s a very dark and gothic, kinda witchy fragrance and perfectly unisex, a little more masculine than the original imo. Definitely suited for colder months.

Wow, talk about a scent punch. Heavy dark moody opening, be careful with the sprays. Incredibly interesting one. One of my all time favourite perfumes, most likely forever. Heavy, churchy, gothic, esoteric, magical, sensual, arousing and sexy as hell. It's definitely not an everyday one. But it's so great for special occasions, like dates or dark rituals. Be careful with this bad boy as it's REALLY intense. One spray will be more than enough, and it'll stay with you until you wash up. Not for everyone that's for sure, but for me it's 12/10

god i am obsessed with this and it threw me off at first i cant lie it s got an industrial feel to it almost mechanical in a way. reminds me of cuoium but the leather here is not as dirty to me. also the incense really dominates but in relation with the aldehydes the scent becomes so comforting that it got me spraying my new sheets with this stuff it s really beautiful and the performance is out of this world honestly but do not blind buy.

Oh God, what perfection of a composition. I desperately need a full bottle. An intoxicating powdery incense, definitely reminiscent of a Catholic church. It makes for a grand entrance wherever you go. It does not make me think of sex, but it is powerful and domineering. It reminds me of medieval executions, cruel popes, violence committed in the name of God. There's something dark and sinister in the powdery church-like incense. Beautiful.

این لعنتی خیلی جذابه اصلا و ابدا عامه پسند نیست ولی من عاشقشم یه حس قدیمی و کلیسایی بهم میده ، کمتر کسی رین اینتنس رو درک می‌کنه که خب کاملا طبیعیه من هر دو رو تست کردم هم رین و هم مدل اینسنسی ،رین فقط بوی چرم میداد برای من کاملا خطی ، ولی رین اینتنس بمب رزین ها آلدهیدها وچرم و دود هست با کمی حس گیاهی ، در انتها خیلی دودی میشه ، واقعا فوق‌العاده س این عطر جرأت میخواد ، خیلی خطرناکه رایحه ای تند و قوی ، پیچیده ، تیره وخشک

This is a one of a kind perfume, you really got to like it, for me, it was love at first smell, although a lot of people are very impressed on how the perfume grows up on them, my friends are a clear example of it, the Incense is very intense, props to whoever named this, but, I am clearly surprised about the rose note, as I normally do not like it on perfumes, but on this one, it just fits right.

Very very nice, almost smells like if Amouage did a fragrance using the kouros DNA, but they added that signature Amouage incense, and also saying that this thing has good performance is an understatement, it is truly a beast, 3 sprays max for me. I’m happy that I have this because this is reminiscent of old school animalic fragrances, and I didn’t have any in that category before this.

Wore this to my wedding. I do have a soft spot for ELDO fragrances. Punch of incense, resin, maybe that's why there's an aldehyde note right after I spray it, but that goes away fairly quickly for me after it evaporates. Smoke, leather, pepper, patchouli but also a little bit of soft flowery, irisy powder at the base. After it settles, it does give a soft church fragrance.

Lovely scent. To my nose it smells like something kept for centuries, something precious, almost mythical. I don’t see what people find so offensive about it. Sure the cumin added with the leather/incense makes this one a little funky/dirty. Have these people tried real Animalic fragrances? Don’t get me wrong, this isn’t clean/safe but is it good? 100 percent.

While it may have a slight animalic opening, what I noticed within minutes is how the floral notes (I first thought jasmine) cut through giving a stark contrast to the darker background. I was so worried I would hate this as i always hear “dark/loud/strong/oud/heavy/ animalic/incense”. This is truly beautiful and unique and completely wearable. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Absolutely ok to wear it . Dont be scared by the coments . Yes , its dark , yes, its heavy incense . But the aldehydes make this one also soapy ... like almost some type of flower . Multiple times ppl around me say there is some " flower note " . This is the aldehydes (not iris) perfectly mixed with the other notes. Crazy sillage for this price , really .

Interlude's incense + kouros's or antaeus's animalic/leather vibe+ ROSE. The rose makes it unisex. drydown is superb. Lasts after shower(s). Projection is crazy. The incense is like the best quality incense blobs from orthodox churches/monasteries that you put in charcoal but it doesn't smell burnt. The best part is in the drydown. Superb.
