Oh, my. This is very nice. I am really enjoying it. The opening is a rush of bergamot, incense and fresh/green rose. Aromatic and super uplifting. Airy, sparkly and wonderful. But it quickly turns deeper and richer with soft suede and orris, beautifully combined, taking over. Then sandalwood, vanilla and musk emerge and give the whole composition this sensual tone. With that incense still lingering around it all, and muted bergamot and rose in the background. It's just beautiful. Soft, smooth, creamy and dreamy. And everything is just so nicely put together, nothing sticks out, all notes nicely blended into each other. Not even powder bothers me ( I usually don't like powder ). And it is kind of powdery. It plays so well with everything else, I guess it doesn't even manage to offend my nose. The rose disappears somewhere along the way... The drydown is woods. Creamy sandalwood, then sharp woods, musk, touch of vanilla and tonka. I wish the middle part of the ride lasted forever... It's so beautiful! It has a pretty good sillage, and superb longevity on me. It lasted all day. Leftovers on my shirt today are strong and sharp masculine scent. It didn't smell anything like that on my skin ( or my shirt ) yesterday. Oh. This is not a rose scent. I was kind of expecting just that given the previous offerings from the line. But nope. Once again not your usual ELDO ( this seems to be the case with all fragrances in this collection. ) Just... beautiful and sensual.Dreamy keeps popping into my mind when thinking about it. ELDO fans who love their playful and experimental side will probably be disappointed by this one. But I am not. It's pretty, and it's easily wearable, and I don't mind it one bit. I was sniffing myself all day yesterday like a weirdo. Couldn't get enough of it.

This splendid phrase by Federico Fellini is really connected with this fragrance: I don't know what in my unconscious it reminds me of Iris, but, in any version it moves me. Here we have a rose going hand in hand with the Iris, and this union gives life to an ethereal, intimate, clean creation with sacred traits given by incense. A union celebrated by its name: "soul of my soul" , one of those bonds so strong and so important to exist that they are very precious and a great fortune if they meet in life. It's my genre, I really like it. Obviously in my wishlist. “The Lovers” painted by Magritte, not as it may seem a simple representation of love, but the celebration of the memory of the artist's mother and her dramatic end, an indelible memory attached to Magritte's soul and which will characterize all his art .

I'm so glad I gave this scent a chance and wore it instead of judging it on its opening! The pink pepper and the initial alcohol odor that hit you right after I sprayed it made me do a double-take. I still liked the rose and musk notes enough that I put it on my skin and in less than five minutes it developed into a creamy floral suede with some spice. In spite of the incense note, the spice is non-aggressive and slightly feminine in my opinion, and not as smokey and heavy as the spice in the other ELDO perfumes I've tried. It has good longevity, but because the spice is less intense it doesn't have the same beast-mode power as the darker spices. Personally, I don't mind sacrificing longevity because the overpowering spice has been one of my critiques of their perfumes that I did not enjoy. While it lasts, I like the scent more and more the longer I wear it. Overall, I would consider getting a full bottle. It's not at the top of my wishlist but is definitely on there! 8/10

I find this much less powdery than many others seem to. On me, it dries down to mostly musk and tonka, with the well-blended floral notes offering a sense of warmth and sweetness, and the sandalwood and suede giving it some depth and a very slight edge. Benzoin is one of my favourite notes, and while here it’s very subtle, I think it adds just a hint of ancient, polished wood. This is a fairly quiet fragrance, and also somewhat linear, but one where the ingredients are so pleasing that it rewards any who come within radius. I find Soul of my Soul absolutely irresistible, and end up sniffing my wrists throughout the day. This is probably a tiny bit heavy in summer but I like wearing it anyway - it comes off as subtly sexy, a little bit sultry, and brings to mind a sun-soaked escape somewhere in the North African desert. I could imagine Kristen Scott Thomas in The English Patient wearing this.

Soul of my Soul is a wonderful scent. Though powdery, it carries substantial olfactory weight without being overbearing. It draws you in, rather than dominating the air around you. The other notes linger enticingly behind a veil of musky, powdery tones. Every time I wear it I and can't stop smelling my wrists or clothes throughout the day. I seem to catch new, revealing glimpses of this composition every time. Of all the Etat Libre scents, this is *one of* my favorites. The notes most noticeable to me (other than the musk and orris) are incense, suede, tonka bean, elegant dry vanilla, and benzoin. The brighter notes, like bergamot, are there, too, but they meld gracefully with the other notes in this unique scent's enticing drydown. Very good longevity. Strong projection--again without being heavy or aggressive. Overall rating: 9.5/10 (I'm enchanted!)

I didn’t think I liked Soul Of My Soul when I first wore my sample. Couldn’t get much sandalwood or vanilla, thought it smelled more like furniture polish mixed with soap. But now, I’m surprised to say, I really like it! It just took me more time to “understand” it. It’s quite powdery and musky, which originally threw me off because I expected something woodier and sweeter. But the effect is more like cosmetic powder or lotion, which makes me feel clean and cozy. There are some floral facets, which I think make this fragrance perfect for the time of year between winter and spring. It may not be full bottle-worthy for me, and strikes me as a bit of an odd choice for ELDO’s higher price point line, but I will enjoy wearing it while we hover on the edge of warmer weather. Performance is solid: moderate projection going on 10 hours now.

Unlike most of the reviews, I really cannot smell the suede on my skin, like at all. Compared to Clean Suede, where it was super noticeable, here I mainly get a clean powdery and flowery musk. The tonka bean and vanilla warm the dry-down in a very comforting manner. Could be a little headache inducing during the first hour, lasts very well on me. Very happy with my sample for now, unsure if I'll get a full size bottle, as it does not feel as special as other perfumes of this house.

The one was amazing! A spiced and smoky citrus opening that morphs into a smooth and earthy suede heavy aroma with a hint of a dewy rose. The dry down is a very smooth suede with creamy iris and musky sweet sandalwood. This feels like a rich woman, with a suede Birkin bag, camel toned. Her house is filled with iris bouquets in crystal vases. Her body wash is rose scented and her lotion vanilla, a musky close to skin trail left behind. Love the blend here.

If you had me choose between this and Clean Suede, I would choose this one. It's slightly more feminine, but full-bodied and with a lovely projection. To my nose, it's suede and vanilla bean only. I really like this one, but my husband made a face when he first smelled it. To be fair, he also made a face at Clean Suede. The man just doesn't like suede. If you feel similarly about that note, maybe just skip this one.

This one is a creamy musky dream! It is hard to describe because it does not fit a scent profile perfectly, which makes it pretty unique. On top of the creamy, yellow flower like feel there is also a bit of soapiness. it also has a slight gourmand touch, probably from the vanilla and also a spicy facet. It is not something you can imagine by looking at the notes, so go on and give it a try!

Incense, powdery orris, musky sandalwood, with a hint of soapy rose, vanilla and pink pepper. All well-balanced and well-blended. Amazing airy, soapy, floral, woody & incensey smooth scent. It has a weak sillage and longevity which is a con but I don't mind. What a delightful second-skin incense profile. Edit: 275$ for a skin scent??? Oh my, what a turn off. Edit #2: sigh, got a bottle.

I adore this scent--ordered a full bottle within a month of getting the ELdO sample set. The powdery orris and suede play sweetly off one another while the bergamot adds some brightness to the otherwise buttery-smooth lactonic notes and musk. I get incense, resins...this feels simultaneously like a fragrant offering in some gently lit temple and like an embrace from a goddess.

Incensy opening reminded me of a big Catholic Church. The note fades away quickly allowing the leathery suede to dominate. It’s accompanied by soft rose and iris. Concept is interesting. I usually don’t reach for leather but the smoothness of it made me love this fragrance. It’s not the best leather scent and I would overalls give it 7.3/10 bit o really reccomend it.

4/5: A really clean, powdery floral with a lovely hit of spice. Bergamot and spice notes last really well on my clothes, but 1-2 hours on skin and it's all about clean powder-y accords (think Imaginary Author's Telegrama without the barbershop vibes). Solid sillage and longevity, can't wait to get a full bottle and fool people into thinking I'm chic-yet-effortless.

From a lot of 20+ ELDO samples: From this one I got rose, iris, and vanilla. Powdery and sweet, and very pleasant to smell! I wasn't able to get too much from this one though that was discernible. I think I will have to compare this one to Une Amourette and then come back to it. I do know that I did really like it and it was very nice to smell.

For some reason, this reminds me of my mother. To me, this is incredibly comforting and warm, smelling it feels like a hug from my mom. The sillage is impressive, I keep catching whiffs of it when I move and I am very pleased that it lasts. It's a delicious creamy suede, I can't get enough. This will be perfect in the colder months.

This was one of the prettiest fragrances I had smelled, so creamy and church incense-like with a nostalgic quality, so relaxing and pretty, I was thinking of how I’d like to wear it to bed. But it made me sneeze a lot and my eyes itch so I think I’m allergic to something in it which is so devastating because I love it. :(

This is a beautiful scent! Powdery and citrus in the opening, the leather note is very subtle to my nose (which is great) and the rest is soft powdery/woody. It's warm and comforting. I feel like I could wear this all year round. And also, I just love the name 'Soul of my Soul' ❤️🍉

lovely suede, rose, musk, and sandalwood with a bit of bergamot to brighten and freshen it but not leaning citrus; to me this is a leather-forward fragrance and not vanilla or all that powdery as the votes indicate; as it dries down, it is very woody in the base

This smells like a golden ray of light on a quiet day. It settles onto your skin and imparts that sensation of a gentle glow. I really think it's the pink pepper, but I'd advise praying onto your clothing. It needs body heat to melt into the smooth mid and base.

Powder and incense, smell like something that was designed for a film set or a movie character. Smells like someone who has smoked a lot of cigars in his life and wears a velvet jacket. I can imgine Winstone Churchill would smell like this for a fancy dinner.

Smelling this on myself currently and trying not to drool. I love this fragrance. Starts off smelling like an expensive fruity cocktail and then dries down to a beautiful woody, slightly smoky scent that is spicy without being overly harsh.

Leather and insense. No Strong rose in this one compared to the others from this collection. More sharp and masculine without the floral frivolity. Makes me think of Joan of Arc somehow.

This has such warmth and beauty to it... In a way it's quiet, but it also has presence. It's slightly milky, sweet, also rosy and powdery. I am absolutely in love!

sharply medicinal in a sexy way (?). bug spray and lingerie. cold and authoritative but soft to the touch. clean but not for long.

I love the scent (a very intriguing powdery oriental, soft but majestic) but I HATE the ugly bottle design!

Aers Etat Libre d'Orange Advent Calendar I bought the ELdO discovery set and made it my advent calendar. I'll try to post a review every day in the order the samples are in the set. Day 18 - Soul of my Soul This took a moment for me to understand. Or rather, for my nose to make sense of. Sometimes the opening of a perfume is a bit all over the place and only when it all settles a bit, you can make out what it is supposed to be and I felt that way very much about Soul of My Soul. For the first 10, 15 minutes, this went into a very herbal, spa-infusion-like direction, which was thoroughly unexpected. Between a very slight citrus note, the pepper, the rose, the orris and whatever is in the perfume that creates a suede note, it was herbal, a little tea-like, and a little sharp-spicy and had very raspy sandalwood. I was confused at this point because that was completely unexpected for me, but the fragrance did settle after a short while to bring out a much more coherent profile. From then on, the suede was the star of the show and everything else arranged itself neatly around it. It's a very smooth leather scent where other notes oscillate around the heart and play nicely with each other, accentuating the suede, playing with each other and your nose. The leather itself is very well-behaved. It reminded me of Clean Suede once it dried down for a while. That one starts much louder in its leather note and on Drydown has that smoothness that Soul of My Soul also has. At times, it's warm, with a very very tame vanilla note and a near amber-like quality to it. At times it's a tiny bit more powdery, musky but here too, it doesn't overdo it. At times the incense breaks through again and gives the leather a more spicy quality. All that plays with each other, not in a domineering fashion where one note tries to overpower the rest of them, but more like a dance where the suede is the center of the stage and partners up with various other notes over time smoothly. Much like Clean Suede, Soul of My Soul feels very refined and adult in its leather quality. It's not a Biker on their Harley Davidson, it's a dancing Gentleman or -woman who just happens to wear some beautiful leather. And it kept giving for around 8 hours before it had danced enough and became a little tired and worn-out on my wrist. I feel I will need to do a proper comparison to Clean Suede in the future, where I wear them side-by-side, but I enjoyed my time with Soul of my Soul a lot, the interchanging of notes was fun to smell and overall I felt like I'm wearing something very high quality. Is it worth the extra money in comparison to Clean Suede? Not sure, I will still have to make that comparison. Is it a delightful scent by itself? Most definitely. If you're looking for refined leather, try it out, it might just be what you're looking for.

Soul Of My Soul is a suede-centred scent, and takes its name from a quote from 1001 Nights, referring to one's true love. I, having been raised Catholic, associate the phrase with a prayer to the Holy Spirit ("Holy Spirit, soul of my soul, I adore you"). The perfume itself leans into its Middle Eastern inspiration, with incense, amber and rose evident atop the suede accord that forms the core of this scent. It is smooth throughout, oscillating between being creamy and powdery at different points. There is a chemical edge to this scent, but it is subtle, and doesn't take from the scent as a whole. SOMS is suede-dominant from initial spray, with some peppery spice up top. There is a synthetic harshness to the initial stages, slightly metallic, but it settles, mellowing into a smooth suede-leather scent. The suede is realistic and unmistakeable, soft and textured initially but becoming smoother and more leather-like as the scent develops. Some subtle incense follows. I love a good churchy incense note (again, Catholic upbringing), but here, it is just a small element that contributes to the greater suede accord, keeping things very dry. There is a rounded, ambroxan-like creaminess evident as it settles, smoothing out the suede and making it more like polished leather. As it develops, powdery rose emerges, marrying nicely with the suede. It is more subtle than I expected, but is a lovely counterpoint to the leather accord. Some orris enhances the powdery nature of the heart, but is subtle. Alongside the suede, this is the best phase of SOMS. The sandalwood of the drydown is on the dry, harsh side, but is ultimately balanced out by the other notes. The coumarin in particular smooths things over. The suede fades to a musky amber accord, slightly sweet and somewhat synthetic here, but remaining reasonably pleasant, if nondescript. Sillage and longevity are moderate, and it is a unisex autumn/winter scent. A pretty decent if imperfect suede scent, SOMS is a good composition overall, but it runs out of steam as it dries down, leaving me ultimately underwhelmed. The synthetic undertone is not to my taste either. Not bad overall, but I've smelled better suede scents than this. 3/5.

Soul of My Soul isn't what I expected. On paper, given the fragrance pyramid and its place within the brand's lineup, I imagined a majestic rose fragrance, powered by a gothic incense and tonka bean, lying on a bed of embellishment notes. Well, not at all. Soul of My Soul is a skin scent, very discreet and airy. Far from the image we have of ELDO, this release is much more conventional and safe. But it would be a shame not to discuss its qualities simply because it isn't provocative. Soul of My Soul is a fragrance of serenity, not a cheesy and random spa-like serenity, but a literally divine serenity, the serenity of heaven. The scent is ultra-airy, delicate, and luminous. This precise rose, blended with this particular vanilla, adorned with orris and suede, evokes the Christian paradise quite well. I'm speaking without considering the marketing, only about the scent of my sky-blue polo shirt at the very end of the day. It's not really sweet, not gourmand at all, and yet it evokes childhood, gentleness, but in an angelic, very fresh, way, without any hint of offense. I avoid vanilla perfumes, tonka bean tends to disgust me, and yet, Soul of My Soul has NOTHING unpleasant about it in any of its facets. It's like a cloud, on which you sit, observing the world from a distance, fully present in the moment. Its clean opening isn't its strongest point; this fragrance reveals itself a few hours later. The subtle undertones it releases with my movements are a delicacy I've never experienced in perfumery. It's not really my thing, not what I'm looking for, but I must acknowledge its immaculate beauty. I would definitely recommend it to those seeking ataraxia, particularly a religious ataraxia. All the necessary elements are there. It will undoubtedly save those who need it. Amen.

Got my hands on the sample kit with 20 small vials of ELDO's fragrances to try with my girlfriend. This one was the fourth one that we tried out. On my girlfriend's skin, it was a fair bit more light and airy than my skin. For me, this one opens with a huge punch of fresh bergamot, incense, and pepper. There's a distinctive powdery atmosphere that rolls in alongside the top notes. All of it is incredibly well balanced, and the incense in particular is incredibly well rounded with the pink pepper giving it a fresh spicy edge. There's some florals in it too, but it's very light. Some people are saying iris, others rose - for me, it was a mix of both, but that could also be some of the powdery bits talking here. Over time, an earthy suede establishes itself in the scent. I started getting more of that rose here too. Then when it all dried down, it became this excellent sweet, woody rose. Miraculously, this stayed powdery all the way through for me and continued to grow more complex as time went on. That sandalwood and vanilla are killer. I can't overstate how pleasant the dry down is, I kept sniffing at my wrists while at my computer. This is a great easy wear for me, but it's not as distinctively interesting as ELDO's other offerings for fragrances. Despite that, projection is pretty good (several hours), and it radiates off the skin just enough for you to always catch whiffs of it without being intrusive to others. I'd say this one's unisex as well, but some could say it's more feminine! Gives me the energy of a charming woman in her 30s with a penchant for leather goods, but she doesn't actually wear any of them besides a single bag because it's such a reliable item. A very solid contender from this house, but I could understand why some might not be as interested in it.

Quite beautiful but not sure if it’s for me. I just sprayed it, so let’s see in a few hours. It’s a truly lovely fragrance, but not sure if I want to wear it. It reminds me of one of my mother’s suede coach bags from the eighties that always smelled like White Linen mixed with suede. It’s a smell I used to love, but I’m trying to figure out if this is something I want in a perfume. Ok....just the time it took me to type this I already see it’s softened quite a bit. Less pepper and bergamot from the top notes and the orris/iris and suede are really coming through. This is mature but not “old lady”.....the powdery note is very subtle and smooth. I was going to say it has a slight sweetness to it like violet,but now I’m realizing that’s likely the rose note melding with the orris( orris was/is traditionally used as a violet substitute in perfumery so maybe that is also why I’m picking up violet). Hmmm.....this is actually a wonderful cool weather evening scent, but versatile enough to wear all occasions in the cooler months. It really is beautiful, I’m just trying to figure out how I like it on *me*. Edit:45 minutes in and I’m in love! This is actually a floral creamy suede skin scent, but these are mature florals. The incense note is also a nice touch. At first I thought this was a unisex scent but this leans a tad bit to the feminine side.

This is a scent that really evolves over time, so I highly recommend picking up a sample before buying so that you can wear it and experience this for yourself. Upon first spritz, this smelt almost identical to Jo Malone's Vetiver and Golden Vanilla, which to me reads as a very masculine fragrance (helped by the fact my brother wears it). I read it as very masculine (I'm a woman) and was ready to hand the sample over to my partner. As it dries and settles into the skin, the creamy, powdery notes come into the foreground. In spite of that, I would still describe this perfume as very, very solidly unisex, maybe still leaning towards masculine. After a few hours on the skin, I'm left with something that still to me smells not dissimilar to Vetiver and Golden Vanilla, but sweeter and slightly more unisex. There is cream and powder, but something quite woody and sharp (other reviews are describing this as spicy but it feels more woody than spicy to me) at its core that stops it from being delicate and feminine. Final note: I'm trying this fragrance during the day in a heatwave, when I would say it leans strongly towards autumn/winter, evening scent. So I will be putting my sample in a drawer to bring out again in the colder months to see how it wears then.

Sophisticated, powdery, and perfectly polished. Soul of My Soul was a winner from the start. On the initial test, it opens with a bright spark of bergamot before quickly drying down into a beautiful, soft suede wrapped in orris. On my skin, the lipstick-like, powdery iris accords are very present, which gives the scent a distinct, refined character. After a full wear test, my rating remains a strong 9/10, and I’ve decided it’s absolutely full bottle-worthy. It actually edges out Clean Suede for me because it has more of a distinct personality while still maintaining a very elegant, polished profile. It strikes that perfect, difficult-to-achieve balance between warmth and cleanliness. It feels like a stellar professional daily driver for the colder months—it’s sophisticated enough for a workday, but warm enough to feel comforting in autumn and winter. Note: I don't actually own this fragrance; I am writing this review based on my experience with the official Etat Libre d'Orange discovery set.

I know it's not in the notes but I get a chocolate smell from this one?? Like definitely not a gourmand chocolate, it's not sweet, but it has that chalky, slightly fruity, slightly bitter but addictive smell I associate with dark chocolate. The rest is just suede and straight up spice-- I have no idea how there are no spices listed either. That's basically all I got, chocolate and spice and suede. Overall, it was pretty nice-- maybe not the best for summer, but I was inside all day. I'm not sure if it accomplished what it wanted to-- it wasn't very romantic or heady, more just nice and very much present while not being overbearing. For the vibe of their description, it's not quite warm enough. The problem is it's a little too heavy for hot weather, but I don't know if it would be warm and enveloping enough for cold weather either. It's sort of stuck in a weird middle ground. But I haven't tried it in winter yet, so who knows! Overall, yeah, it smells like suede. In a nice way though.

Got this in ELDO discovery box Opening - Peppery sweet leather, strongly reminds me of Clean Suede of the same house that i tested the day before, but with a hint of creamy rose on the back end. Cannot say i feel too much of the incense or any prominent citrus in the opening. Drydown - More of the creamy rose and the orris butter note provides exactly that - slightly buttery, subtly vegetal feel. In the deeper end of the drydown, the sweet tones slowly take over - sweet sandalwood, tonka, vanilla - buttery sweet, balsamic finish for the experience. Well rounded unisex fragrance, that hints of a more bold artistic direction, but never quite goes there. I would say that they played it a bit too safe here with some of the notes, but at the same time i am glad they didn't go into the "designer sweet" direction that seems to be all the craze lately. I would wear this - but still not convinced if it is full bottle worthy.

I absolutely loved this fragrance!! This is just so beautiful on my skin. I wasn't sure if I would like it at first because the opening was a bit boring to me. I guess the pink pepper/bergamont smelled like a macy's but that's my problem because I think I was getting tired of pink pepper. After an hour that went away and I was in love from that point on. It smells so powdery on me, which I really enjoyed. It was sweet and warm, maybe a soft creamy leatheryness, with a bit of spicyness. I would not say this is the most unique ground breaking fragrance (at least on my skin) it smells like a happy baby, it becomes sweeter and a bit saltier and more skin-like with time. It was one of my favorites from the set, so comforting and when it developes it feels like the most ethereal powdery cloud, I just want to live inside of this.

An extremely divisive fragrance. I sampled this a while back and really enjoyed it actually, until I read a comment here that said it smelled like baby wipes (thanks @spo2004 😂). Took me almost a month to put that to side and be able to smell anything else aside from baby wipes. So yeah - for the first 30 minutes or so, it smells like baby wipes, no doubt about that. But after that opening it evolves into something much more wearable and actually quite attractive, got me several compliments at work. This works best in the autumn and spring, and maybe the beginning of summer/end of winter. Performance is alright, nothing to complain/write home about. I'd recommend trying to find this on sale, at first I found its price of 280$ not really worth it - but then I got it for 120$ - which is MUCH more reasonable.

Etat Libre D'Orange Sample Kit 7/20 A really clean take on a powdery blend of mostly bergamot and orris for me. It's hard for me to really differentiate between the other notes, but in general it's fresh, with a sweet and woody touch in the base. This surprised me a lot, it is super wearable and a lot more mainstream and under the radar than other offerings from ELDO. Performance was quite disappointing, especially considering retail prices on these fragrances. To me, it is unisex, but slightly leans into a more masculine scent profile. (I was quite shocked when I saw that most reviewers rated this as super feminine.) If I can get it for a good price at a discounter, I might consider picking up a bottle and exploring it further, but for now, I could find other bottles I would prefer to own.

I get a very brief swell of zesty, rose-y bergamot in the opening. Then Soul Of My Soul dries down into sweet, vanillic leather on a base of dusty, rooty wood. The sweetness has a dark brown, softly-spiced, malty quality to it that reminds me of Vanilla Coke, while the leather leans plasticky and smooth. It has a deep, drowsy, sensual vibe. Thoroughly unisex. You're at a house party. You're hiding in a dusty, antique armoire full of suede and pleather coats. I don't know why you're hiding in the armoire, but you are. You're holding a half-empty party cup of flat Vanilla Coke and trying not to spill it. It's warm in the small space; you're getting drowsy. An Arctic Monkeys song is playing at top volume in the other room, like oily smoke. Will you pour me one for the road?

On paper this is a heady cloud of incense floating over suede and musk. On skin, this starts citrusy rose with creamy vanilla (I might be the only one who thinks this but it smells like Coco Mademoiselle minus the orange and patchouli). Slowly the incense and musk take over with powder and smoke, and it ends with sticky benzoin. Incense is a finicky note for me, and this fragrance nails it perfectly to my preference. The more I smell this the more I need this. Edit: this is the fragrance that made me realize how much I love incense notes, especially when they are highlighted. However, I'm finding others that I enjoy more so this will stay a treasured like.

I really love this scent. This might be one of the first powder-y scents that I have actively loved, but from start to finish it is this creamy oasis of spice and powder. Now my description makes it seem like a more typical female fragrance, but the spice and citrus in this really makes it pop. It reminds me of a creamier, more citrus forward version of "Edymion Concentre" by Penhaligons which I absolutely adore. This will be a buy for me once I start to get a bit more cash to spend. As it dries down it becomes even more musky and creamy and less powdery. The only complaint that I have is that the sillage and longevity don't match the hiked up price tag.

In the top I get a peppery rose/iris combo, giving an impression of suede leather. At that stage, it navigates in the same waters as Delicious Closet Queen of the same house, but quickly goes into a different direction. In the base, it's all about a sweet incensy/vanillic elemi (more than benzoin, imho), supported by tonka. At that stage, it reminds me of the drydown of Amouage Myths. A great release by ELdO, and for sure the most interesting to my nose of the 4 fragrances of ELdO's 'Orange Extraordinaire' line, even if performance could (and should) have been better. Still, recommended if you can get a good deal. Unisex.

Opening fresh and juicy, with fluffy bergamot, very cheerful and optimistic. Right away, there's a dominant fruity musk that is a bit screechy and aggressive, becoming even more prominent in the base. As it settles, vanilla emerges, blending with a plasticky fruit note. At first, it's quite seductive, extroverted, and very charming, but in the end, it feels a bit too loud for me. It remains present the entire time, a loud, plasticky citrus musk, in the style of Erba Pura, not so much in scent profile, more in character. Rating: 3.5/5. Not for me, but I understand the appeal. Very good performance.

I was really looking forward to trying this. 'Soul of my soul' is my favorite term of endearment. On skin this is mostly a bergamot forward, musky and powdery suede. Kind of a let down for me, with the expectations I had with the name, the cost of the fragrance, and the packaging (the bottle is gorgeous!) I think it's mostly artificial notes, because after having covid I've struggled to smell artificial notes strongly, and this one just vanishes into my skin. On paper, it seems like it preforms a lot better. More creamy, more rich, more spicy. 6.5/10

Suede is unfortunately not as bracing a note for me as is leather (which is really birch). Suede is much softer and more feminine: it always seems like the ideal fragrance note for women 18-25. This would be a fairly wearable and unisex suede scent for me, though: the vanilla and rose and bergamot combine as nicely with the suede here as they do with leather in Habit Rouge fragrances, and the strong pink pepper keeps it too much like smelling like HR. This is pleasant; but to be honest, it feels too young for me.

Powder, wood, and musk to my nose. The powder somehow sits right at the same precipice as the sandalwood, to where it's almost like a powdered sandalwood accord. The blend on this is beautiful. So warm and cozy without being too feminine. The suede, rose, spices, and incense are all there but as more of an atmosphere that shapes the main body rather than being discrete notes themselves. Better for cooler occasions and indoor wear when it's warmer out, I think the heat throws off the balance a bit.

Jesus wept, an ELDO that smells ok from first spray!! Quite the rarity to my nose. Smells quite generic to begin with (again, not a bad thing, I will take generic over Cumin BO or whatever the hell Ghost in the Shell is supposed to smell like) but dries down into a mellow woody vanilla powder. Unfortunately on my skin it took on a slightly chemical vibe at around 4 hours. If this didn't happen it would actually be a winner, but I'm not willing to dislike a fragrance for even a second on my skin.

Spicy and powdery, airy leather/suede, with sandalwood being the most prominent note to me. I didn't initially get any iris; instead, I was getting a greener, earthier note. But as it dried down, it evolved and became more recognizable. This is a very faint rose, so much so that I thought this had some sort of softer white florals instead. No detectable sweetness at all. If anything, only the sandalwood adds a touch of creaminess. Nothing to dislike about it, and I'd say it's easy to wear.
