Spice Must Flow

Try as she might to relax, to devote her evenings to small acts of self-care, a knot would tighten in her chest at the thought that tragedy might have struck. Spice Must Flow is probably the softest release from the État Libre d'Orange Extraordinaire collection, alongside its airy, cottony cousin, Soul of My Soul. I approached it with some hesitation. The name alone suggested a spice overload, the sort of thing liable to dominate an entire day. Thankfully, that fear proved unfounded. This is an exceptionally well-mannered poison. Its natural audience, I suspect, lies within the rarefied—and admittedly rather snobbish—circle of so-called nuclear fragrances, where thirty-year-old whisky is considered a perfectly respectable personal scent and agarwood is the main ingredient in everything they touch. Not because Spice Must Flow is especially forceful: its sillage is modest and it retires early. Rather, because it contains almost none of the reassuring signposts of modern perfumery. It smells like the boudoir of a French woman in 1944, waiting anxiously for news of her husband. The effect is achieved through a dusty yet delicate incense accord, a rose that recalls traditional rosewater far more than the polished synthetic roses of designer perfumery, and, surprisingly, only two spices: bitter cardamom and ginger. The latter adds a touch of freshness, but in 1944, far removed from our sterilised interiors, a few pieces of ginger left beneath a dressing-table mirror would hardly have made a room smell any more agreeable. Together, however, these elements create something unexpected: the ghost of a freshly opened Coca-Cola in its glass bottle, handed to the village women by passing American soldiers. And that is precisely why it works. Spice Must Flow feels authentic. It is humble, worn smooth by time, and entirely free of artifice. It occupies the opposite end of the spectrum from contemporary designer fragrances while remaining surprisingly approachable. True, it is far less provocative than the great oud monsters beloved by certain corners of the fragrance world. Yet it captures another age entirely—one that was not necessarily dirtier, merely less standardised, and unafraid of the frank, unmistakable character of things. For admirers of assertive vintage scents, Spice Must Flow may well be a point of reference: a fragrance in which they can recognise themselves without having to spend the day defending their favourite rum-oud-whisky-absinthe monstrosity against bewildered colleagues. In that sense, it's not only the spices that flow here—it is our commun good, air. One final detail: there is the faintest suggestion of perspiration running through the composition. Nothing unclean, nothing animalic enough to unsettle. Just a tiny skin-like nuance that reveals itself up close and, if anything, makes the fragrance feel more alive. Happy are the snobs who will reach for Spice Must Flow on a Monday morning, armoured against the horror of office life, where so very little feels genuine anymore.

Mirage of a sand dune Prince. I think you first need to be a fan of rose. There’s a lot of it here. In the opening it’s probably the best I’ve smelt for a rose centred fragrance, only other scent that competes for that spot is Eau De Protection. The best way I can describe it is; a sparkling, tingling ginger tonic water, an almost ice cold coca-cola like sweet (haribo) smell, but in all the best ways. It really matches the name and description given by the brand. The visual sparkling effect the spice (dust) has in the Dune movies, the delicate fairy chime sound effects that go with the sand moving around in the desert, it really reminds me of the opening here. The desert slept beneath a cold, starlit sky, vast, still, untouched. The air was crisp, biting, carrying the soft hiss of wind dragging grains of sand across the dunes, like whispers in the dark. On the highest ridge, a lone figure stood, carved from shadow, a prince, his form wrapped in flowing robes, but only a silhouette against the faintest pale line of dawn creeping along the horizon. He stood unmoving, surrounded by roses, watching something unseen, as if waiting for the world to stir. The whole scene feels distant, almost sacre, like something out of a dream. But as you draw nearer, drawn toward that quiet figure on the dune, something changes. Slowly, subtly, the edges blur. The stars fade. The cool air thickens. That faint dawn glow melts into a harsh, blinding white. The prince is gone. There was never anyone there. Only the desert remains. A thick jammy Arabic rose that we all know all too well. Now that may be because I’ve fallen for the marketing, potentially. But it doesn’t take away from how beautiful this scent is.

This is one my favourite fragrances, it smells so comforting. It has a note that reminds me of a certain soap I smelled as a child, I don't know what it is, but it gives me that sense of comfort because of it. I feel that I read the fragrance entirely differently from how it is meant to come across. It is incredibly well-blended, and for me the individual notes don't stand out that much, but they can come through on certain days and in certain moods, and because of this the fragrance has a certain shimmering, mutable quality. It is never the same. I have been wearing it almost daily since I got the full bottle, a few weeks ago, and I am not tired of it in the least. It probably is not that appropriate for the day, but I really don't care. Each time I get a whiff of it from my clothes, I feel like it really is "my" smell. My husband commented it smells like incense to him. On some days I can smell it, on others the cardamom comes through strongly. On others, however, it just smells like a sweet comfort fragrance, and it smells just "clean" and a little bit soapy or like a good cologne to me - I suppose it is the Rose that comes through then. It has sweetness and spiciness, but it does not have any of the cloying and heavy elements I usually associate with sweet fragrances. There is a certain freshness and sharpness to it -not sure if it is something citrussy or the way cardamom itself works, but because of it, it feels both incredibly warm and fresh at the same time. Note- the "soapiness" I am referring to is not an obvious note, it is not a classically soapy fragrance, but it is more the quality of the rose, and the general feeling of comfort and freshness that comes when wearing it.

This is beautiful. Although it’s definitely more sweet than spicy on my skin (I was wearing experimentum crucis on the other wrist though, and that is such a strong spicy cumin on me that anything would smell sweet against that!). The rose comes through nicely on this, with the other notes stopping it being fresh and making it more warm. But it leans very feminine on me, ELDO has much more masculine roses in their unisex range, this is not unisex to my nose. I think it’s my favourite Rose. Edit: I love this, trying to convince myself that I don’t need a full bottle.... I already have PdM Delina Exclusif, and they are definitely in the same ball park... I need to try them both the same day to compare. Edit 2: having compared Delina Exclusiv and this one, Spice Must Flow is like Delina Exclusiv’s more sophisticated aunt. They share similar DNA, most noticeable after they’ve been on the skin a few hours, but this one is much more serious, and nowhere near as sickly sweet. I think I’ll buy it if I ever finish my Del Ex. Edit 3 (!) I’ve now tried all 20 from the ELDO sample box, and this is a close contender for my favourite, I really love it. Edit (again!) yes I bought a bottle. I tried it again and it’s such a strong, bright, fresh Rose, much more pure rosey than Del Ex, not sure what I was thinking there haha, and it’s got just the right bit of dry spice behind it, I can’t resist.

Got my hands on the sample kit with 20 small vials of ELDO's fragrances to try with my girlfriend. This one was the initial one that we started with - and it started EXCELLENTLY. This one is front to back fantastic. On my skin, the opening is a dry, spiced rose and a punch of that amber. The rose is also rather sweet here. I don't have nuance to share with you all here - it just smells fantastic. Gradually the scent becomes the nasal equivalent of laying on floating bed of roses lifted by even more spice, that resinous amber, and trails of incense. This would be the sort of "blossoming" phase as that rose develops. When you finally hit the dry down, you're getting that full bodied incense as the amber and rose take a backseat and welcome all of the remaining spices to the party. I picked up the same cinnamon and cardamom but also some saffron and a very dry ginger here. It also lasts forever! This is absolutely a unisex scent and I very much implore those curious to at least order the sample! This is a bit expensive though in a full bottle, but totally worth it if this sort of thing is your cup of tea. Given the inspiration is middle eastern markets, I could imagine that this scent would be lovely in the heat - but in colder weather this is also quite amazing too. An immediate favorite of mine.

when my friends and I were meeting at my house one chilly November day, I bought different spices for mulled wine. among them was cardamom, little known to me. when we were in Istanbul, I bought a small cezve there, just enough for one small cup of coffee. that cezve hung as a stylish accessory on the kitchen hook for more than a year, until on my birthday, which fell at the height of the first quarantine, I for some reason decided I was in need of experiments. and added cardamom seeds there. the sweet-spicy smell has become an association with something strong and unshakable when the whole world is so terribly uncertain. a couple of years later, a colleague brought a small lack of cardamom from Sri Lanka. I was very cold and miserable at the time. a cup of morning coffee with cardamom seeds warmed me up a little and made feel a bit better. meanwhile, a set of 20 perfume samples came from my favorite perfume house, Etat Libre d'Orange. on a trip to Pacific, I suddenly realized that I smelled of cardamom. of warmth, comfort and hope. the perfume, as it turned out, was inspired by Dune and named Spice Must Flow. every day since my country started a terrible war, it helped me believe that we'll get through it all.

Sampling Etat Libre d’Orange Spice Must Flow, a Dune-inspired fragrance referencing the fictional world’s resource of spice that has special properties. The scent itself is fittingly spicy and provocative, leaning a bit sharp and floral rather than dark and resinous, with a main note list of ginger, pepper, cardamom, cinnamon, saffron, and rose, which kind of encapsulates how I have a bit of a difficult time sorting out specific spicy notes, the rose perhaps being the biggest standout. I instantly love it, though, as an option that makes for a nice transition from daytime to nighttime in cooler weather, or as a provocative nighttime option in warmer weather. Spicy, rosy, pretty classy, and quite strong. I obtained my sample from Perfumology, whom I believe still carries the fragrance, though it’s available via other points of sale in the US, also. Its concentration is EDP and US retail pricing is $250 for 100ml. I’ve not had much experience with the brand but it’s one of the houses that I feel I should thoroughly sample at some point. I’m quite impressed by this entry, though, certainly worthy of the Lisan al Gaib. 8 out of 10

This is phenomenal - exactly as the name suggests, this is a spicy bomb, with the most gorgeous (but not overwhelming) rose at the heart of it. There's oud and amber, cinnamon... Beautiful. I did however spray a bit too much on me when I went out the other day and it was a bit too strong for me, but that was my fault. A couple of sprays of this would be enough for people to smell and appreciate what you're wearing, without knocking you out. And the bottle? Amazing. Edit almost one year on from my original comment - I bought a full bottle of this because I found a great deal online. I haven't worn it too much but that's mainly been because it felt too suffocating in the summer months. Now it's colder again I find myself reaching for this quite often when I want something with an edge. I still agree with my initial comment - this is SPICY. It almost seems to slip into powdery when I wear this in the cooler months, but I think that's mainly the effect of the rose. I love having this bottle in my collection. It makes me smile and makes me feel almost ethereal when I wear it.

Opens to the cool, heady scent of clear plastic pool toys, doused in warm, deep rose water syrup, finished with a generous sprinkling of confectioners sugar. Matures into an exact replica of my favorite baklava, a specialty of Kashan, Iran. Very delicately chopped pistachio doused in cardamom, and heavy rosewater syrup. I can actually taste the flavor - it’s transportive. I don’t actually detect much spice aside from the cardamom, but possibly because they’re working in harmony in the background to amplify the rose to something gourmand. Absolutely enchanting rose fragrance without any ‘old lady’ connotations, which I’m attributing to the luxurious quality incense notes balancing the syrup. Very gothic Beauty and the Beast, Mina’s red dress in ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’, Lili in ‘Legend’s white dress scene when she meets the unicorn. Projects for hours but still always feels like a shadow, an aura of magical romance, chemistry, very intimate. A new love.

I've had issues with ELDO in the past. Some of their fragrances read as try-hard, not-like-other-girls, controversial just to ruffle feathers. Some people are like that. This fragrance is no different with the exception that I absolutely love it. It's an explosion of dry spice followed by a giant Mike Tyson-shaped rose, with rose boxing gloves and a rose-colored lust for blood. It barges into any room you enter and people are going to notice, for better or for worse, depending on their affinity for rose perfumes. Then after assaulting your sinuses, the drydown is absolutely exquisite. A sweet, smoky incense tempers this beastly fragrance, calming it down to a creamy, warm, and intoxicating dry rose that lasts for ages. I could smell a spritz in my hair for two days afterward. I adore it and wear it often and I absolutely do not care what other people think about it. Maybe it's my first giant step as an ELDO convert. All hail controversy, I guess!

Analyzed it today. Big sci-fi fan. Love it. Dune, Starwars, Warhammer 40K, Judge Dredd, Halo and Bladerunner fan. Also, very knowledgeable of all the expanded universes of these sci-fi storylines. Rose is somewhat dominant. But there is a synthetic or ozonic note, perhaps it is the incense at play that takes me to an otherworld. Some smoke peeks through. A world in the stars and nobility and loneliness of space. Of course I do not know what space smells like, but from previous astronauts, it smells like gunpowder. Very unisex. Both Dune and Blade Runner 80’s vintage come to my senses. Reminds me of the Dune Universe in the Noble Houses and Blade Runner with Rachel in the pyramid. When Deckard meets Rachel. Also, I feel it could project a vibe of House Harkonnen as a synthetic rose in the inner sanctums of the Great House. This is a great fragrance. Love it. Very comforting and protective. As I revisit it, I love it more.

I have to admit, at first this fragrance was a huge disappointment. It had nothing to do with my beloved Dune. Once I disconnected the perfume from the book in my head, I fell in love with it! It’s a beautiful smoky ( incense ), blood red rose, with a dash of ginger, cardamom and pepper. Some booziness. And some non gourmand sweetness. There is even something green and fresh to it for a moment. But the drydown is warm and spicy, smoky, very blood red rose. It is simply stunning. Beautiful. Elegant. And wearable. Very non ELDOish actually. I am used to something completely different from them. But I love it! It’s intoxicating and addictive, and I can’t live without it. It smells wonderful on my hubby, as well. It's super unisex. Maybe even leaning a bit more masculine ( at least on me it does ). It has a great longevity, and moderate, I’d say just right, sillage. Oh, and the bottle is gorgeous, too!

I have been finding I either love or hate ELdO fragrances. I tend to love the sweeter scents and not care for the ones that feel a little...try-hard? Some of them I've smelled and not been sure why someone would want to smell like that. This one was an exception for me in that its not tropical or gourmand like I tend to lean, and I still love it. Its rich and ambery and floral but in a way that doesn't go "grandma's house" like a lot of perfumes with a similar profile. My partner said, at first, it smelled almost like savory gourmand. For a while it went powdery in a pleasant way. Now, many hours later I'm left with a spicy amber with a nice floral hint. Many of my favorite ELdO fragrances wear away quite quickly, but this has been on for 8 hours and is still detectable at close range and I still smell it on myself. Into this and glad to be pulled a little out of my sugary sweet comfort zone.

for months i put off trying this, out of sheer assumption that it would be too smokey and spicy for me. ....oh how i was wrong. it is absolutely DIVINE. upon first whiff, it’s immediately so comforting. it is smokey and spicy, but in such a realistic, heart-warming way. i feel like i’ve been acquainted with this scent before. it’s like a burning stick of incense in the form of a perfume. warm ambery sweetness. i get a faint trace of ginger here and there, but it’s sort of tangy and bitter, more reminiscent of grapefruit. mature roses, high quality incense, buttery cardamom and burning embers. it’s utterly delectable. i'm wearing it today under warm, sunny skies and it’s making me feel so good. but i feel like this would be a sensational fragrance to wear in colder months. id also really love to smell this on a man... cosying up to a chest that smells like this would be dreamy.

Starts with a sharp spicy scent, immediately followed by a strong, classic rose/oud fragrance. Feels like being transported straight into a Middle Eastern spice market or bazaar! And then after about 20 minutes... cathedral incense. Deep and smoky and mysterious. From then, I almost got straight up incense on skin, with the rose only slightly sweetening the scent but not discernible as such. On my clothes, I got more of the rose/oud combination coming through. Initial projection is of galaxy-controlling proportions - my husband could smell me entering rooms. This tames after the first hour, and becomes more moderate. Longevity on skin is a little disappointing on me for such a strong scent :by the third hour, it's mostly a skin scent. Lasts better on fabric. I really liked this although it's not super super original. Nicely done though, we'll see if I get through my sample.

I bought a sample of this once I saw 'a must have for any Dune fan' so here we go: When you spray this perfume, you can feel the world vibrating around you. (Full disclosure: I sneezed) Spice Must Flow is an off-worlder who is visiting the royal palace in Arakeen. They are freshly arrived to the planet, but as being kept ias royal guests. As they explore the palace, a distant smell of roses decants around the halls from the central conservatory. As their time on the planet grows longer, each passing day they become more and more invested in their surroundings. The scent starts deepening into the earthy incense notes. All in all I really enjoy this scent and will probably get a full bottle. It feels much more day-timey than one of my other favourites: JM Velvet Rose and Oud-- but could easily go into the evening.

Grabbed a bunch of ELDO 2ml samples and this was the absolute standout. Full bottle worthy. Beautiful, sweet, ginger initially which fades quite fast to a spicy cardamon, cinnamon and sweet rose. Dry down there are still hints of spice, the perfect amount of rose (not old lady dry rose) and incense sticks around but it's a nice smokey incense, maybe because it's mixed with the other notes. It's classy and refined instead of dirty hippy (which is what I get on the dry down of rien intense). This is great for spring and autumn, although there is still a lightness about it, it's not super heavy. Perfectly unisex, I'm a dude but works equally well on the girlfriend. I would say this is a safe blind buy. Does what it says and executes it perfectly.

I absolutely adore this fragrance. It starts with a cardamom ginger (Alpinia mutica) scent before it opens up into an infusion of incense and Turkish delight. The incense for me is not as strong or industrial as other have described, it's like a soft breeze floating from a church at Easter, just a hint captured on the wind, which oscillates between sweet incense and wood smoke (still sweet and not at all acrid). The rose has a sweetness to it which reminds me of Turkish delight, but it isn't a delicate rose, so I definitely think a man could wear this. I'm not sure this reminds me of the deserts of Arrakis, but I can certainly imagine Lady Jessica, Reverend Mother of the Fremen, smelling just like this.

Such a beautiful composition. So far this is my favourite ELDO perfume, it instantly cheers me up and I am looking forward to wearing it more once spring/summer comes. I associate it a lot with sunny days, flowers blooming, birds chirping. It's a general feeling of happiness and lightness. I absolutely love the combination of rose, cardamom and incense. It's not moody enough for me to use it in the darker time of the year (but I still do when I have the mood for it). Very elegant and unusual scent. It can give a little bit of a synthetic futuristic vibe (futuristic church in space?) but it makes me love it even more. It's unique and kind of floral without being boring. Fantastic creation.

Honestly torn between La Fin and this being my all time favourite ELDO fragrance. Sweet but not overpowering rose. Spice - more so a hint of pepper and ginger than cinnamon to me. Grounded with subtle patchouli earthiness and very soft incense. Very good longevity on this one. Masterfully blended. Isn't really giving Dune to me overall, but could easily be Chani's fragrance, as her fremen name Sihaya means 'desert spring'. Depends on how you imagine Arrakis and the Spice Melange would smell like.. is it literal spice? Maybe cinnamon? Or something more otherwordly, clean and ozonic, reflecting the blue effects of living in the close vicinity of the Spice?

I love this SO much! It opens with a bright and sweet rose, surrounded by a mix of spices. I can't personally feel a lot of cardamom, just a hint, but it's enough for me. I agree with one of the reviews in that there is clearly a secret saffron or soft leather accord here, because I can definitely get a similarity with Byredo's Black Saffron. Also, even though I think it's pointless to given perfumes a gender, if I were to do it, this would definitely be leaning on the feminine side. But, hey, I'm a man and I see no problem wearing it! All in all, I think it smells great from the start to the end and brings a cozy, creamy atmosphere to my day.

The dark and juicy rose is framed by cardamom, cinnamon, saffron and ginger which results in an effervescent rose-cola note. This is supported by the incense and the patchouli. Also, I am sure there is a bit of cumin funk at the heart of the fragrance, which complements the composition beautifully. No oud. One of the best rose fragrances on the market currently. Neither stuffy, nor too sharp, as rose sometimes can be. Instead, it's fresh and spicy with a light touch of sweetness that never gets cloying. Perfectly unisex and great performance to boot. For me, it evokes images of a crimson coloured sky with golden stars flashing.

spice must flow was positively a joy to wear. its warm complexities yet straightforward notes boggled my mind as its scent lingered until my shower the next day. not a dainty or polite fragrance, SMF is akin to the billowing train of the most exquisite fabric. it follows you with passion and majesty: one must fill the large shoes that this fragrance provides. as an extravagant individual, wearing this scent felt like stepping into my own destiny. i was met with mounds of comments and even unexpected affections from multiple suitors during my time with SMF. a must-try for those with the spirit of a king/queen.

Not sure why Fragrantica doesn’t have the full notes but here they are from other comments: Top notes: Cardamom Pure Jungle EssenceTM, Pepper HE, Gingerbread Neo Jungle EssenceTM - Heart notes: Cinnamon, Turkish Rose Absolute, Saffron - Base notes: Incense, Fir Balsam, Patchouli HE This is a very dreamy middle-eastern inspired earthy scent, it’s very reminiscent of Dune and doesn’t have any oud. The cardamom shines the most to me with a flash of gingerbread, this beautifully paves the way to the rose/cinnamon, I don’t get much saffron here. The base is still quite rose-heavy. Lasts at least 18 hours.

I purchased the sample kit and this was the clear standout to me. A warm spicy rose that wraps me in a dreamy, rich, spicy, warm exoticism, it’s transporting. On my skin the rose is not sweet, just perfectly balanced with the spice. I purchased the full size immediately and have never regretted it. One of my all time favorites. I’d say it’s mature without being old. I can’t imagine on a teen or early 20, it has gravitas. I’m a 60 year old OG punk, a farrier, antique dealer and artist with a lot of wild experiences under my belt, definitely not a ‘granny’ type. Spice Must Flow fits me like a glove.

This is not a rose for the faint of heart. Forget a shy, tender pink rose, blooming in the warm sunshine rays on a dewy spring morning. This is an opulent dark red rose, loaded with spices and incense. It is majestic and very self assured. Wear it with pride and confidence or she will wear you. It is similar to Rose Calligraphy by Aramis, but less smiling, if you understand what I mean. Today I wore this perfume for the first time and I received compliments from two people. A few sprays will fill in a room, and you will leave a fragrant trail wherever you go. Apply sparingly for office wear!

Love love this one. It came in the sample kit I purchased and I think I will get it for my winter wear. When I read Cardamom as a top note I wasnt sure how I would feel, but turns out it works amazingly well here. I live in Sweden where cardamom is used in a lot of deserts and buns, so this perfume gives me the vibe of sitting outdoors in a walled in garden where I am surrounded by blooming roses and enjoying spicy tea with a freshly baked cardamom bun. It feels warm and comforting while also complex. I think its very unisex and can potentially be office friendly but not immediately sure.

This is one of three fragrances from ELDO’s Extraordinaire line that I’ve purchased; all three are gems in my collection and I love them. While I really liked Spice Must Flow the first time I wore it, it has grown on me each time I’ve worn it. (I love scents that get better with each wear.) Spice Must Flow is a wonderfully balanced, spicy, intensely rose blend. The spices are more multifaceted than the notes suggest, and the rose is rich, saturated, and smells authentic. The incense adds a heady, hypnotic element. For rose lovers, Spice Must Flow is definitely one worth sampling.

Not a fan of rose scents, but it was done so beautifully here I have 0 complaints, smells like a rosary! Gingerbread was a genius touch. Leaning masculine, I would still totally wear this as a woman, specially if I want to smell powerful or intimidating. 10/10

Who could resist a perfume named after melange, that mysterious and precious "Spice" from the Dune books by Frank Herbert that brings higher states of consciousness and makes possible interplanetary navigation? What's great is this pretty much smells just like you would expect: it's yet another lovely rose fragrance from ELdO's luxury line, but it's beautifully balanced with incense (to make it smell mystical) and of course spices like cardamon and ginger. It lives up to the evocations of its name, which is high praise indeed.

The whole "Dune" thing is what grabbed my attention first but as a fan of rose frags I had to give it a try. I'm so glad I pulled the trigger on this one. It was even a blind buy. Rolled a 20 on this one ;) Opens with a deep, sweet rose and moves to a beautiful spice and amber dry down. This is a strong recommend if you like frags with a dominant rose note or spicy, warm amber. Performance is amazing with a decent sillage and about 14 hours from spray to skin scent on me. 9.5/10 overall. PS:Presentation is pretty cool too.

Whenever you peruse the reviews of any rose fragrance you'll hear them describe it as "jammy" when it's sweet. This fragrance goes beyond being just "jammy," it smells like a rose candy. The rose in this fragrance is so incredibly sweet that it might give you a cavity were it not balanced perfectly with the ginger and incense. While neither of those notes are super prominent, their presence stops this from just smelling like roses and sugar. And with its impressive longevity, this is easily my favorite rose fragrance.

Snagged a sample before pulling the trigger and I gotta say I love it Having lived in a desert my entire life, I feel like it encapsulates a desert night really well. This would shine for sure in the fall and winter but I wouldn't fully discount it for a summer night. I'm also of the mind that it leans more masculine, but I also love rose unabashadly. All depends on how you carry it, not that it leaning feminine or unisex would be bad. If you're on the fence, do it. Sexy summer vibes and we love sexy summer vibes.

Absolutely gorgeous. Not for the faint of heart. Sensual, deep, sexy, and mysterious. The sweetness of the rose with the spice is the perfect combo. Balancing opposites. Something so magical about this one. Quite strong! I wish they made it in a candle. Would definitely recommend. Perfect for a strong woman with intense style. If you often get called “intimidating” this is for you. Powerful and erotic. Fairly unisex but gives me a femme fatale vibe. Try it out if you dare!

Leans a little more feminine to me. Smells identical to a nice rose incense you would burn in your house, very earthy crunchy vibe to it. Definitely made for colder days, it leans a very warm. Scent seems like it would be on someone who is more down to earth, hippie, or witchy. The rose might have the chance to smell a little "vintage" when first applied, but transforms into something more earthy and woodsy after a bit

I'm addicted to this stuff, but it is NOT a universally likeable fragrance. On me, it's 0% rose, very cardamom, faintly incense, but also there's (subjectively) a lot of cinnamon...and CUMIN. I love it so much, but I don't wear it out of the house until it's dried down for like 4 hours and mellowed out to a gentle cozy spice. The cumin note may not be listed, but it's there and it's bold. And cumin smells like...people

Oud-y, smokey, dark rose with a touch of fresh ginger. Drying down, it becomes sweeter and more floral. It's alright, I feel like I've smelled this in a couple of other fragrances but it's pleasant nonetheless. [Feb 6 2026]: Coming back to this a year+ later, I can only say I love it so much more. It's not as common of a scent as I initially thought. The performance is also just amazing.

Probably the most potent and long-lasting from ELDO offering. It’s very good but is similar to Xerjoff More Than Words as well as LV Ombré Nomade. It’s like a 50/50 mix between the two. Not complaining at all though since I really enjoy both. Beautiful spicy rosey ginger with some incense. I don’t see the comparison to oud satin mood as mentioned below. I’ll give it a 7/10

Very strong, syrupy rose. Very addictive, however I would have liked to get that spicy smell coming through a bit more. This is a quite feminine leaning fragrance so if you're someone who prefers more unisex/ masculine smells, this might not be your best bet. Overall, I'd say about an 8.5/10. Yet to see how it performs though

I love the concept and the name (as I love Dune). It's absolutely beautiful, elegant and mesmerizing. Stuff like this makes me want to sell my collection and just leave the few bottles that make my mind travel to different worlds and times. The rose is sweet, clouded by the incense. I literally hear music while smelling it.

really really lovely. the cardamom and ginger compliment the rose really nicely, and that incense note becomes much more noticeable as it dries down, which also prevents the rose from being too overwhelming (which tends to happen on my skin). i'm not really get cola from this, though the ginger does add that sort of feel.

i have a sample of this and am enjoying it immensely. its got an edge but its not offensive. my hubby commented that the scent was very noticeable in a good way. I find it very unisex and not at all girlie - probably because of the heavy cardamom. its perfect for this cooler weather. strong like moving toward love.

From a lot of 20+ ELDO samples: Another reaaaaaaaaaaally nice spiced rose fragrance, similar to 500 years. Spicy, sweet, a bit less jammy, and a bit more fresh. I think this one is a pretty versatile scent that could do daytime or nighttime to be honest. I will need to compare this one with 500 years then revisit.

This is a lovely incense scent without being smoky. Feels like second skin. Perfectly wearable and mature without being old lady or department store like. Love the heavy DNA in this sci-fi series -- oud, incense, rum. I had hoped for better projection and longevity but it's still decent.

A spicy....dark rose-and-wood combo is very upfront....and remains thru out the wear. Ginger/cardamom and smokey. Yes..this sounds like sooooooo many other scents out there (rose/oud combos, I am looking at you !). But this has it's own "twist"...IMO. LOVE AT FIRST SNIFF.

Received this as part of the ELDO 20-vial sample set, and is the third I've sampled from the set. This smells a bit like Hugo Boss Bottled Oud to me - with the rose, spice, and oud coming up in front. 20 minutes in, it's still pretty linear. I like it!

Beautiful jammy rose backed by spice, dries down to incense. I love it a lot, although I definitely expected more spice, given the name lol. It reminds me a lot of Nirvana Rose by Elizabeth and James, which is unfortunately now discontinued

I have a thing for incense notes apparently. I love this, best way I can describe it is that it smells like sexy Dr Pepper. Fizzy feeling spices and cola-like sweetness, something in there feels like the raisiny fruity note in Dr. Pepper.

This is a warm cozy blanket on cold day if there ever were one. Top notch fragrance. I simply can’t describe the beautiful comforting scent this engulfs me in. It is potent to say the least. But what a grand and glorious scent.
