Tilda Swinton Like This

I see a lot of people find this scent very familiar and a bit nostalgic smelling, due to the pumpkin pie and kitchen vibe. And I can totally see that, but since I'm from Norway (a country that has no long pumpkin pie traditions) I don't get that familiar/nostalgic feeling when smelling that kind of scent. It does smell like a kitchen though. But more of a slightly exotic and different kind of kitchen than I'm familiar with. And since I've baked pumpkin pie myself a couple of years ago, it kind of smells like a modern, inventive and original kitchen to me. The scent still does have a more classic vibe to it, and it does feel familiar to me as well. I guess it has to do with the combination of pumpkin and tangerine. To my nose that combination of notes creates a smell that makes me think of my grandmother, who used to make big glass jars of conserved fruits from our garden when I was a little girl. This scent has that warm, syrupy and sour fruity smell that fills the kitchen when berries and fruits are being cooked with sugar, spices and water and poored into glass jars for storage. I can also detect a smell of something baking in the oven in this perfume. It smells a bit salty and buttery, and like a pie crust, or a bread maybe, that is really crisp, maybe even a bit burnt. I guess that comes from the immortelle flower. Between the sweet and sour fruit, and that baked smell, Like This also has a very clean vibe. Like an old fashioned newly cleand kitchen. It's like a window is open, to let all the cooking fumes out, and at the same time it brings a freshness to all the smells of fruit, spices and baked goods, while higlighting the smell of a kitchen that has just been cleaned. This is definitely an autumn kind of smell. It reminds me of late september, and the time and traditions around autumn equinox. Sillage is medium and longevity is pretty good. I get about 8-10 hours out of this one. In the drydown the sour sweetness is gone, and I'm left with a warm, buttery bread smell. It feels really comforting. It smells safe and nice, and at the same time it kind of surprises me. There's a interesting contrast in this perfume. It smells both very tradtional and modern, very much like home, and yet exotic. I like that a lot! I really like this one. It's interesting, evocative and smells like no other perfume I've tried so far. I think I might purchase a bottle.

This is such an interesting fragrance. I don't own anything else like it, and haven't ever smelled anything like it. I think the reviews are so mixed (and so interesting to read) because some people are anosmic to some musks (weird right?), and this one is definitely musk-heavy. It’s there, doing some fairly heavy lifting, but you don't experience the musk like that. On skin, it's very much the ultimate but seldom credited blender of everything else. This perfume is a total mood ring. On me, it smells like green pumpkin, just baked bread, and a very green vanilla musk. On a friend, it comes across as a spiced, ginger tea. When I spray it on my pillow, the musk stands out. Everything else is there too, but it feels greener and more outdoorsy, I can get some of the garden. For me, this perfume is incredibly comforting, yet sweet and sexy. It feels like your cozy, warm home where your family comes over, and you put a flower in a vase before, and then do the dishes after you have dinner parties with friends. But it’s also the kind of scent where you chase your partner around the house and maybe bite their neck, and utilise kitchen counters beyond food prep. Then you curl up on the sofa with a cashmere blanket you got for Christmas and watch your favourite movie. It’s evocative, cosy, and feels like a warm hug, but also a sexy hug with a safe, familiar lover who makes you soup when you've a cold. Well thats what I thought until I read the kitchen witch review and now I think it smells like that instead! Anyhow, I still think it’s a good scent for the soul and has been my most worn perfume for years. (I’ve gone through about a bottle a year for 13 or so years). I would recommend, except I don't want you to wear it. ITS MINE.

This is my first fragrance from the E'tat Libre D'Orange line up, so I'm not familiar with how their blends usually open nor their performance. This review is based upon a blind skin test experience. I was absolutely delighted by the end result. I reviewed the scent pyramid before showering and applying. I was expecting something a skosh sweeter when considering the scent pyramid. The citrus of the tangerine and the dull sweet of pumpkin had me anticipating a softer touch. So much so, that I applied a Orange Nectar and Cashmere lotion prior to applying the fragrance. Upon opening, I was immediately forced to reconcile my expectations with reality. On my skin, Like This leans into the vetiver and ginger with unyielding confidence. It pushed the boundaries of my usual fragrance habits by taking me away from a floral gourmand, and exceeded expectations. As the scent nestled into a comfortable dry down, the vetiver, ginger, and musk blend beautifully into a nuanced, "peppery" foundation. This forms a sort of vegetal leaning bed for the pumpkin to lazily, delicately reach its vines outward. The pumpkin note is just shy of being photorealistic. Lacking any sugar or additive, it feels as though you are smelling the exterior of the pumpkin or potentially its rind. This scent does not resort to the safety of an overripe, pulpy pumpkin with a slightly sweet note. Rather, it protests leaning into a gendered scent, and stands firmly in its androgyny. It is a fantastic scent to test your boundaries as a fragrance enthusiast.

This is the type of perfume that is easy to reach for when you don't feel like a strong presence of fragrance, but still want to wear something & smell good. It is a light woody fragrance with spicy, sweet & gourmand touches - but not too much of any one thing. It's not meant to overwhelm... It can be worn anytime of day or year imo. It is special for being so nondescript. It is my kind of "skin scent" even though it isn't really a skin scent. I've been sampling a lot, looking for one of these types of fragrances and this is definitely in the running. It doesn't hurt that it can be bought on the gray market for about $60/3.4 FL OZ either. And I like this scent more than the other $125-$200 fragrances that are also high on the list. This fragrance house has a knack for making these types of scents really well - they have floral versions... more gourmand-leaning, and very spicy ones, etc - that can easily be worn and not overwhelm. Well-blended types of formulations. I currently have 2 on my wish list and still contemplating on a few more. Fat Electrician & The Ghost In The Shell are the 2 I will definitely be getting a full-size bottle of. And this will probably be my 3rd. This house is worth sampling, if you want niche and different, but also pleasant and easy to reach for... many of them are Unisex too.

it's incredible how this fragrance smells like nothing else i've ever smelled before but also conjures such vivid imagery of a specific vibe/person..... whenever i wear it, i always picture the most gentle kitchen witch, enveloped in a warm blanket of her own inner world. she loves baking pies, tending to her herb garden, woodworking, and making tinctures from scratch. her home is filled with odd trinkets, gorgeous antique furniture, vintage rugs. old books on alchemy, magick, and the history of the world line her living room walls like it's the damn hogwarts library. real talk, i actually know this girl irl and i have a bit of a crush lol... she is precious, charming, and quite unique..... like this ꒰⑅ᴗ༚ᴗ꒱˖♡ side note: i wore this to see pedro almodóvar's the room next door, a quiet, moving film featuring tilda swinton herself and julianne moore. my partner and i were the only ones in the theater (saw it on a whim), and the intimacy of that moment made the experience feel almost sacred. despite the film's sadness, it felt deeply human: gentle, sincere, and full of warmth. that's exactly how this fragrance wears on me. it's comforting without being cloying, nostalgic without melancholy. it simultaneously smells like solitude and connection, like a hand on your shoulder when you need it most.
