True Lust Rayon Violet De Ses Yeux

I don't get the boozy hit some people talk about. On me this is powdery rose/violet/lily of the valley, with a sweet creaminess from the coconut and a background hint of orange. No skank, no animalic notes, no leather. It's gentle and pleasant, but definitely not lustful. Abysmal longevity. I sprayed with a liberal hand, and 3h later it's down to a skin scent that I need to really press my nose to my wrist to find. As my first foray into ELDO I am disappointed by that, but the scent itself is very nice. I intend to try Putain des Palaces and Rien next so hopefully they will last longer. Edited to say: whilst it does quickly become a skin scent, it does then stick around for a long time. So, longevity is actually decent, but it just quickly loses sillage. After about 5h the scent changes and the orange becomes far more prominent. I really love it, but wish the sillage was larger.

This one was a love at first sniff. I have never smelled Putain des Palaces or Dangerous Complicity, but they are now on my list. Immediately, I get a spicy violet from this, that I find really unique, maybe it's the ginger and rum? You don't have to wait long for the full drydown...along with that violet, you have some musky leather and powdery sandalwood. I get very light hints of the coconut and other florals. I think True Lust alludes to some old-school perfumes, but it is very modern. It smells a tiny bit dirty, but in the classiest way possible. It makes me think of naughty trysts and books like The Delta of Venus. In fact, I could imagine Anais Nin wearing this. Despite all that, I find it easy to wear, maybe because I enjoy it so much. It lasts long on my skin and I love getting wafts of it througout the day/evening. This is one of my favorites...Gorgeous stuff.

This fragrance is so strange. Up close, it is a smoky, beef-jerky leather rolled around in powder makeup products. Quite kitsch. But the wearing experience and sillage is more like a sweet powdery floral with a hint of leather and a very refined, light boozy quality. The violet is not overtly violet-y; rather it creates a powdery-sweet-leather veil. This scent has grown immensely on me. I absolutely adore its composition after owning it for a few years and would repurchasing a bigger bottle if I didn't have a million other bottles in my collection (and it seems like this one has been tragically discontinued). True Lust is very beautiful and feminine but and elegant, but with a unique edginess and artistic touch I really appreciate. It smells like a woman in the fall with her well-loved Birkin and suede gloves.

The more I wear True Lust the more it becomes True Love. This is very romantic, all violets and rum in the opening, ylang ylang and osmanthus about an hour in and then settling into coconut, rice and musk to finish. The violet is there the entire journey and it is gorgeous. True Lust sits close to skin, but you don’t have to bury your nose in your arm to enjoy the fragrance. You get soft reminders of the fragrance throughout your day. It would be appropriate to wear for a variety of settings or occasions as it is not overpowering or cloying. This is a win for lovers of violet or musks.

Hard to explain. Subtle, polite, provocative. The booziness and leather, they're there but not super prominent. The rice allows it to dodge the designer vibe entirely. The osmanthus gives it a bit of a mysterious powdery touch. It's the furthest thing from a club fragrance, and yet I find myself drawing closer to my SO to get a good whiff, so mission accomplished, right? Very nice scent to just wear to the office, but also has that strong backbone that gives it just enough oomph to be interesting in a romantic setting. 8.5/10

not powdery at all due to the other notes in the top but gets powdery in the middle and base; the violet dominates but it is rich and deepened by the other notes though still a skin scent. This is not boozy. The rum just makes the violet richer. There is a creaminess due to the leather, rice and sandalwood. There are supporting florals but they do not overpower the violet. The osmanthus is there. The ylang gives it a sweetness. Very well blended and pretty. A unique take on floral.

I really like this. I was looking for a scent that I could wear to work that smelled nice but was not overpowering. I tried Putain des Palaces and felt that it was more like a natural "clean smelling skin", which I liked, but I could barely smell it on myself. I like this muuuuch better. I can definitely smell Putain de Palaces, but combined Dangerous Complicity, it just takes it up a notch or two.

I found this very much as a seductive mix of Putain des Palace and Dangerious Complicity. True Lust embodies the best of two exquisite formulations that combine explicitly seductive powers of rose, violet and powder with the implicit dangers of rum and patchouli. Wow, I like it alot 👌🏼 not a love as in Putain des Palace BUT a big like 😊

A powerful violet dominates! The parfum opens with the strong note of violet, rum and coconut feel a lot. It's semi-dark and dusty charismatic! nightclub,urban scent. The drydown is the part I prefer ... probably unisex! Sillage: 7.5/10 Longevity: 7./10 Scent: 7.5/10 Overall: 7.5 / 10

Comforting scent that stays close to my skin. It is powdery, yet creamy at the same time. I get motherly, nurturing vibes from this which totally negates the name of the fragrance. Don't feel someone will get "true lust" from this. I lean more towards "gentle love".

Fantastic - what a gem. Dusty, floral violet and a jammy/rum essence that lingers. It’s a beautiful scent - sits a little closer to the skin than I would like but it’s formal - and I don’t think I’d want this to be any more pronounced than it is. 9.5/10

To me, this is a grown-up and more androgynous rendition of the original Lolita Lempicka. They don't really smell alike, but they're both violet perfumes with that gorgeously unusual woodsy + gourmandy vibe. I love it!

ok, mostly a kind of intensive version of Putain Des Palaces pimps discretly with the good side (the sweet osmanthus) of Dangerous Complicity. I really appreciate Putain and I appreciate as much this new whore :-).

Immiediatly in love...I just don't know how to justify to myself to buy another bottle. If I hade none and was to buy a signature, it would be this. Rodriguez For Her gone naughty !

Feminine uni that's really fun to wear as a man. Exhausted my 50 ml. The only thing stalking me from replacing it is the price-to-performance ratio. Really fun fragrance.

I may have already reviewed this but I'm not sure. However, I stopped smoking almost 10 months ago, and as a result, it's as if I am trying so many of my perfumes for the first time. True Lust is an excellent example. I own PutainDP already, but I never saw that much of a similarity between the two. I've never tried Dangerous Complicity so I can't speak re that. Right off the bat, I get beautiful, tempered violets and rum. Really nice. It is quickly joined by something animalic. This is noted in the written description, but other than ambergris, the note pyramid doesn't mention anything that leans towards animalic. I suppose it COULD be from the leather and the ambergris, but whatever it is, it's creating a definite slightly worn "panties" accord that is nowhere near as awful as it sounds! It's most definitely the Lust part of the fragrance. Id go so far as to maintain that this out-putains Putain, but in the most luxurious, high class, slightly powdery elite escort way possible! It's really very pretty and naughty at the same time! Unfortunately, one thing that hasn't changed now that I no longer smoke is the performance on my skin. The longevity is only about 2 - 3 hours, and that's a stretch. Additionally, I need to really spray quite heavily to get any type of projection or silage. Still, that might to by design, as this perfume and the image it creates in my mind screams for discretion! I've moved this out more towards the front of my collection for more frequent wear and further exploration. It's not for everyone, but it's not so off the wall that it's not worth a try by the more conservative perfumista. I am really enjoying it!

I get violets, a lot of violets and then some other notes. Unfortunately, the smell disappears before I can even begin to enjoy the fragrance or even try breaking down the notes. What a shame because the initial smell is very promising. I so badly want more out of this but I just cannot get what I want, even when I have oversprayed. So frustrating! The assertive red bottle is like a perfect deception unlike the black bottle of rien intense which is a monster. Going by that, one would expect that kind of monstrosity but nope, it's dressed in deception just like the fakeness of the postmodern times that are seemingly perfection personified but inside they are without any substance, being real is just out of question. I am a new fan of the ELDO line after having encountered Une Amourette which is so fantastic! If Putain Des Palaces smells like this and allows enough time for me to enjoy it then I'd rather have that.

"True lust" doesn't smell bad, but it's a bit messy. The overall sweetness is just a bit too much. Firstly it did remind a lot of baby wipes and shampoo, the violet and osmanthus gives this syrup vibe, making it almost unbearable for the first hour. On top of the powdery leather it's a bit suffocating. It does get more calm and floral at the heart part, but it still feels more feminine and romantic than sexy and lustful as the name would suggest. I don't see this as unisex at all for this reason. I hoped for more depth and sensuallity, but got none of that. The bitterness was also expected, but never appeared. The lasting power was mediocre - around five hours, but it projected rather strongly. As with most perfumes by Etat Libre d'Orange this is a hit or miss. For me it wasn't bad, but also not something I'd aspire to wear/try again.

Sweet and powdery, with the "dust in the sun" kind of smell that some powdery fragrances have. I can smell the violet, rum, and ylang-ylang notes most distinctly. Then the sandalwood and something resinous (the ambergris maybe?). I don't smell any fruit, ginger, nor any other flowers. The leather note only shows up in the drydown, and is very subtle. I like it a lot. Sillage is only moderate, which is fine with me, I like to keep my fragrances to myself (and people I let into my personal space bubble). Longevity isn't so great, after a few hours it was just a skin scent. Overall, I think of it as a cozy scent. Not completely innocent though, there's a bit of the "True Lust" namesake there. But more in the sense of wanting to get closer rather than get busy. KWIM?

I like the opening, it's bright, sweet and powdery. However on dry down this gets sour. Perhaps it's the way the leather is expressing, animalic leathers can be a bit sour on me. Strongly feminine, in my opinion. This is a nice scent, especially at first, but not a love. It reminds me of Hiram Green's violet perfume vivacious.. but slightly sweeter, with tonka and ylang added. There an approximation of orris somewhere in this; maybe the combo of rice and ambergris. Still, lovely on a sweater. I will enjoy this as a cool weather scent. Edit: after wearing a few more times, I realize this drydown smells smells like a post-aldehyde hangover. The ylang really comes out and there’s a faded vintage smell.. with a slight tang. That’s what I’m identifying as sour.

Predominantly powdery and soft sweet on me. Basically, talcum powder, a touch of candied violets and some leather in the background. I guess someone would say this is a "lipstick" fragrance. I did not make that connection immediately, until I've seen the Fragram pics on this page. I'm a bit on the fence about it, because I've worn the sample 3 times and I didn't like it every time. The last time, I liked it more (worn at home in a mild temperature day). I think that a girl that is a lot into thrifting and vintage clothes and accessories or a man that wants to smell clean but unique, would like this since to me it's unisex (but it leans more towards the feminine side). Nevertheless, it's not a sexy fragrance to me, I don't associate it with "true lust".

I really like this when I first apply it. Like many here, I primarily get violets and rum, and I think it's a nice combination. Unfortunately, it vanishes from my skin in 15 minutes! I don't get the opportunity to experience any of the other notes which is so disappointing! My bottle arrived a few days ago, along with a bottle of Putain. Putain lingers much longer, but I am thinking I may just need to let both bottles rest for a while and recovery from their journey to me in the heat. I'll see what happens and will update if I there's an improvement. EDIT 6/28/2020 - Tried today and experienced greater longevity, though it quickly becomes a skin scent. I prefer it to Putain - the rum gives it bite, and makes it seem a bit more risque!

The first few minutes of this were my favorite: a juicy citrus paired with ginger. Minutes later, a powder violet with rice emerged, similar to Putain des Palaces but not enough for me to get excited--had there been more of PDP I'd consider moving to a love, but this dried down to a vaguely sweet suedy-musk. It's enjoyable but grows more generic as the hours pass. Silage and longevity are both moderate, and this would wear well during day or night, though not as sexy as the name would suggest, but then also won't horrify people at the office. Could wear year round though it is a tad warmer smelling-- it's not a "freshy" though it starts that way with an almost mouth watering effect.

it’s s a unisex composition with a floral powdery character, resting on a woody suede base. The fragrance is undeniably elegant, although in my opinion the name feels slightly overstated, as the scent it’s far from true lust. The opening is a soapy violet, with a touch of rum and a hint of ginger. It then develops into a creamy, softly powdery floral heart, before settling into a smooth blend of sandalwood and suede. Elegant, soft and without any sharp edges. From the name, I expected something more in the vein of high heels and daring lingerie, but what I received was more like an innocent girl in a nightdress buttoned right up to the collar.

ELDO wanted to create a fragrance that mixes « putain des palaces » and « dangerous complicity » and honestly, it’s completly what is « true lust ». Because I plan very badly on buying palaces, I feel like I dont need true lust at all. True lust feels like a watered down palaces for people that find the original one too challenging. If I really want to smell like true lust, i feel like I just have to mix my palaces with virgin island water or any other coconut-rum scent. But it seems perfect for you if you want a bit more luminous and easy « putain des palaces », go for it in this case!

A beautiful feminine rum and violet fragrance that leans powdery. Quite a surprise how incredible the opening is, giving you 30-40 minutes of rich, yet classy booze. Feminine leaning liquor fragrances aren’t that common and are rarely this well fabricated. There is a rice note in the list and I don’t get that specifically, but I do get a creaminess that may be from the rice, coconut, and white florals. True Lust Rayon Violet De Ses Yeux is a feminine winner from Etat Libre d'Orange. Exquisite. 8/10

Creamy slightly powdery violets and osmanthus working together. There's a bit of sandalwood and leather that makes it a bit more edgy and less innocent. I can't really tell the rum accord apart in here and I swear I wasn't drinking. It also smells a tad fruity, perhaps the tangerine. Reminds me of 'What we do in Paris is a secret' from afar. Solid frag - not your usual wallflower. I mean , violet :)

It needs some time to elaborate.. At first sniff it's just some semi-gourmand floral, not too powerful smelling, hardly even separable from the body lotion you are wearing, but after like 30 minutes the powdery notes arise, and the violet-sandalwood-coconut combo kicks in. It could be more powerful and lasting for the price... but you cant deny its beauty

I'm usually not a huge fan of feminine floral fragrances, but I like this. It' not what I imagine from the name "True Lust", I imagine it would be dirtier or sexier like some floral with patchouli combination. This is elegant, beautiful, walking between the line of clean and dirty. The sillage is not overpowering, it's smooth and non distracting.

This dark, resinous scent is so well-blended that I find it challenging to describe it in terms of its notes- I have to resort to visual and textural images It evokes the dark viscosity of an oil slick, with little iridescent rainbows swirling through it... Great sillage, but it only lasted about 3-4 hours...

This one is to similar to Putain des Palaces on me. Can barely smell the difference, despite the different notes... Besides that it’s a scent without a wow factor. Just a scent that doesn’t make a noise in the air around you if you know what a mean :) A nice scent, but not the best from this house!

this starts off slightly boozy with soft florals of violet and lily of the valley and a hint of coconut. later i get the rice, sandalwood and a soft suedelike leather. on me, it ends up a soft lily with violet and rice primarily. i do not get any of the other notes listed at all.

The opening is bad. Then it gets better as it dries down, and violet disappears. I really like the scent by the way. It is dirty, lusty as the name describes. I would not wear this, but really interesting and pleasant scent. It is for woman by the way.

It's nice, but not as powerful or crisp as Putain. It seems sweeter or more wearable, but Putain lasts much longer and has a more interesting character. I like it better than Dangerous Complicity however, which is too fruity and doesn't last on me.

At first it's too heavy, lots of rum I guess! However, later it gets smoother and a lot nicer. It's very sexy scent indeed, its name suits it well. I like it, but I also think that there is too much of everything in it for me.

This smells pretty, but nothing unique or special about it. I don't get leather, rum or coconut which were the notes I was most interested in. I pretty much get just rose and sandalwood🤷♀️

First impressions: Sweet but also quite spicy and plasticky scent with lipsticky powderiness. Some very strange notes that smells like a cheap condom lubricant. UPD: Tested it on the skin. I really like the violets with booze and coconut in the opening of this but the leather and rice with fruits/florals in the drydown together smell like sickly sweet raspberries to me which I have realized I strongly dislike in perfume. This is my first ELDO try, interested to try Putain esp if it’s dirtier.

I have a full bottle of it. It is good and all but for me? Not it. It kinda smells like a musky marker for me, it just doesn’t smell that good. Is it wearable tho? Totally, but personally idk where or when i would wear it considering i have atleast one fragrance for each occasion and season.

Can barely smell this. It's nice enough, quite powdery and feminine but was a bit...meh. So close to the skin that it's hard to get a good whiff. I imagine that's why every other review mentions it's a good 'office scent'. Except I wouldn't pay this much for something I wear in the office.

when i don’t care for an ELDO perfume, the through-line seems to be how uninteresting i find it. putting this on felt like walking into a somewhat upscale fast-fashion establishment, like an abercrombie & fitch, & being blown over by a headache-inducing wave of generic-smelling something or other. yes, i can smell the components, it’s not that they get muddied or lost, it’s that they add up to less than the sum of their parts. very banal on my skin.

Based on the description, I really wanted to like this scent. It ends up pulling all baby powder on my skin. The dry down reminds me of a Prada Candy type gourmand. Not a terrible scent and I'm sure lovely on some, but it doesn't work for me.

Feminine due to the violet note which is also quite soapy. Unbearable sweetness for the first couple of hours. This repulsed my fiancée and I can’t blame her. Still got another 10 or so ELDO samples which I almost regret buying already. 1/10

Simple and friendly at the start, due its development on the skin this perfume turns into cheap, everyday smell with the drydown symbol of banality. Overrated and too expensive.

Powdery and soapy fragrance. Not terrible but did not meet expectations. And does not live up to its name...

Very surprising note pyramid to me, sprayed it on last night thinking it was something else, and got a lot of ambery resinous sweetness, rum, maybe some pulpy dried fruit. I'm very surprised that people are stating cumin and funk, I get none of that! I also get zero violets or leather in particular those two being two main notes. Many are saying powdery - no! This is a resinous sweet gourmand to me through and through, though everything is relative I've been on a journey with musks and powders so in comparison this reads more resinous to me. I love this overall, got a generous decant and I intend on using it up! Unless someone wants to swap me for something exciting, but i do love this. This very much fits into my initial amber phase, will test it a few times in different weathers see how it fairs but to me this was not what I expected from the notes and comments! Goes to show how differently people can experience and read perfumes.

I have a small 1 oz of Putain, and I like it enough. It has a little more "panty" than I like (sour-ish). Still- I enjoy an oddball, and if I found a good deal- I'd happily buy another Putain. (Habanita L'Esprit and Citizen Queen work better as powdery panty perfumes) But instead I found a great price on this, and did it. Tissue Test: I like it!! It replaces the sour "putain" smell (haha) with rum and osmanthus. It's like Palaces mixed with Vince Camuto's original pillar EDP. Or maybe the Palace Whore is just drunk. ;) (I have not smelled Dangerous Complicity) This is a bit thicker and sweeter. I like it. There was a stage tho- where the rum was too alcoholic and I don't want people to think I've been drinking. And ginger sometimes makes me nauseous- so I hope my chemistry doesn't work against me. Will update if a true/proper body wear changes anything! LOVE The powdery sandalwood drydown. Really really potent drydown on fabric!

I wanted Putain without the sweat/cunt/balls so I ordered a bottle of True Lust. But with a name like that, what was I expecting? This opens with a boozy slap across the face. My eyes immediately rolled back in their sockets. And then a very lush, almost fruity-liqueurish presence makes itself known. This doesn’t come across as powdery so much as juicy - the luscious pairing of osmanthus and rum. And the best part, an intoxicating base of high quality incense contributed by the sandalwood and ambergris notes. If this was packaged in an Amouage bottle and sold for $300+, I would be easily bamboozled into handing over my money for this high class whore. True lust indeed.
