You Or Someone Like You

One of my favorite freshies in the niche tier! Personal: 9/10 – Bright, minty-green, fresh floral that’s pleasant and uplifting. I actually find this one of the most pleasant summer fragrances I've sampled. Mass appeal: 9/10 – Crisp, green, and citrusy fresh scents are usually safe. This is versatile and approachable. Performance: 7/10 – Average longevity and projection, fading fairly quickly into a soft green freshness. Nothing unexpected from something fresh. Value: 7.5/10 – ELDO pricing is fine, though the DNA feels closer to something a designer could pull off for less money. That said, none have. So it's still worthwhile. Uniqueness: 7.5/10 – Minty, green, fresh florals aren't something you see every day, at least, not executed so well. And mint is somewhat unique. That said, it's nothing groundbreaking. Just good. SCORE: 80/100 Full bottle buy? YES, this gives me that same greenness that I get with Imagination, but more minty and less tea-like. I love it. Blind buy? YES, it’s fresh, clean, and safe enough for almost everyone to enjoy. Recommend? YES, as an approachable, totally wearable ELDO that's not actually weird or avant-garde. Date night? YES, works great for casual summer dates or outdoor settings. Office safe? YES, very clean, refreshing, and inoffensive. Perfect for it. Pros: Fresh, minty-green citrus floral, highly wearable, versatile and easygoing. Cons: A bit generic, leans garden-like with green notes. Not everyone likes mint. You or Someone Like You is probably the safest and most “mainstream” fragrance in ELDO’s catalog. It's very fresh, a bit leafy, citrusy, and green enough with the mint that it has depth other freshies don't have. To my nose, it lays somewhere in the territory of Louis Vuitton's Imagination and Xerjoff's Torino 21. It also has a distinct marine woodiness that I can't quite put my finger on, but reminds me of Heremes's Eau de Merveilles Bleue. It's nothing vastly unique, but it's one of the best fresh executions I've ever smelled, and the slightly menthol-forward mint note adds so much crispness and freshness. This could very easily join Fat Electrician on the shortlist of ELDO bottles I actually want to own. One of the best freshies I've ever smelled, and that's due in no small part to the green depth of the mint. Absolutely a must-sample for everyone, and a great alternative to Imagination. EXACTLY what I've been looking for in a Mint fragrance, after trying many other options, this one is still the best. Went through a decant super quick and bought a full bottle with no hesitation. They nailed both the mint feeling – fresh, slightly cold, clean, and the mint note itself – smells like an actual fresh mint leaf, not toothpaste, not peppermint candy, just a plant. Not too overpowering and sharp like it is in Menthe Fraiche, just refreshing enough to uplift you but not a cold spicy punch to your nose like Beach Hut Man. The grassy green notes fit perfectly into this, and they, too, smell super natural, very much like freshly cut grass. I do like the jasmine&rose too. The only thing I am not a fan of is the drydown about 2, maybe 3 hours into the wear. The jasmine/rose smell overwhelms the grassy freshness and becomes a bit too sharp for my taste. Don't know if that's the cat urine people are talking about. However I found a nice trick – if, at that point, you wet your application spot lightly, just with some water, the grassy freshness returns and the further drydown becomes overall more balanced. I am not a huge fan of the 100ml bottle – not sure what the sticker is made of but it feels like I could pull it off accidentally. And the shape is a little awkward to hold while spraying. The performance is reasonable, with medium projection lasting about 3 hours until it becomes a skin scent for a couple more hours. Could be better but honestly the way it smells I'm ready to reapply as much as needed. Very versatile, sure it's a fresh scent, (to clarify, natural, meadow-after-rain fresh, not human-after-shower fresh) but I can't imagine where you wouldn't want to smell fresh and lively. Maybe a serious business meeting or a funeral. Overall a fantastic scent, me in a bottle. Wanted to smell exactly like this in my mind looking for a perfume, and so happy there is something accessible to fulfill my dreams.

There is a difference between a fragrance that smells like regular perfume and a fragrance that smells like a real place. You Or Someone Like You is the kind. For me this fragrance is not something I like it is a masterpiece that I think is perfect. It completely changes what I think a fresh fragrance can be. Most summer fragrances are made with the old ingredients like citrus ocean smells or clean laundry smells.. Eldo does not do that. Instead they made a fragrance with a mint smell that feels very real. This mint smell is not like toothpaste or candy it is like the smell of a mint leaf that you are holding in your hand with dew on it. What makes You Or Someone Like You so special is that it is a bit strange. Chandler Burr made it to smell like Los Angeles, a city that is always making you think of movies and nice weather. Under the mint and bergamot smells there are other smells like metal and rose that you can barely notice. This makes the fragrance seem natural and modern at the time. It smells nice and cool like something from the future. When I wear You Or Someone Like You it smells great on me. It stays fresh and cool, for a time then it settles into a clean slightly grassy smell that feels like my own skin. If you are tired of wearing the old summer fragrances and want something that is smart and cool You Or Someone Like You is the one. It is a fragrance that's fun and unusual and I will always have it in my collection. You Or Someone Like You is vibrant and surreal. I love it.

Both Torino 21 and YOSLY are minty but honestly they live on completely different planets. YOSLY is the wild one. It smells like you crushed a mint leaf in your hand during a sunrise walk in northern Thailand. There’s mist, silence, maybe a bit of existential crisis in the air. It’s fresh, yes, but also cold, metallic, and emotionally distant. You don’t wear this to be sexy. You wear it to be interesting. People won’t say “you smell nice” they’ll say “what is that?”. Torino 21, on the other hand, is your reliable best friend who always smells clean, bright, and put together. It’s like sipping iced mint tea in a tennis club somewhere in southern Italy. It’s friendly, polished, smooth as silk, and gets compliments without even trying. You can wear it anywhere and people will like you more. It’s that kind of scent. So: Want to smell like someone who packed one bag, left their old life behind, and is now journaling in a mountain café with a view? Go with YOSLY. Want to smell like you just finished a doubles match and now you’re lounging by a marble fountain with an Aperol Spritz? That’s Torino 21. Both great. Just totally different species.

I have searched far and wide for an ultra fresh realistic mint that does not fade after 10 minutes. This is the one. Frankly upon seeing the green notes and Grapefruit listed, I'm pretty sure I would never have touched it, but the mint got the better of me so I tried it and it's amazing. Excellent lasting poweer for a freshie - I'd say 6 hours. It's just such a relief to wear something light, fresh, but not boring and with some lasting power on a day of extreme heat. To me, it's like picking fresh mint out of a garden filled with early morning dew. You have crushed the mint in your hand and as the morning light grows stronger, the smell of fresh pink roses from the flower beds wafts over, while you drink cold water with just a drop of freshly squeezed grapefruit mixed in. It's so lovely. A lady sitting next to me in the subway leaned in to sniff and asked me what it was :). Also, I have the impression that the mint in the perfume has a cooling effect on my skin, always a bonus on hot summer days.

The benchmark for fresh, cooling mint. You Or Someone Like You is, in my opinion, the perfect beach and summer scent. My first impression was immediately a 10/10—it solves the biggest issue I have with similar fragrances like Xerjoff Torino 21 by offering a hyper-realistic, picture-perfect mint note that never veers into synthetic or overwhelming territory. It’s beautifully blended with fresh citrus accords that keep everything balanced. After a full wear test, my opinion hasn't changed at all; it remains the benchmark for fresh mint fragrances. It delivers a cooling, crushed mint leaf effect that feels completely photorealistic, seamless, and crisp. It doesn't have the sharpness that often ruins mint-based scents for me. If you’re looking for a clean, natural-smelling mint that actually performs without becoming cloying, this is the one to beat. Note: I don't actually own this fragrance; I am writing this review based on my experience with the official Etat Libre d'Orange discovery set.

The opening is absolutely spectacular. I honestly wish it lasted longer because on my skin it only stays for about five minutes. It’s the freshest, most vibrant mint imaginable—like a handful of mint leaves sitting in a glass while you’re crushing them with your hands. It smells alive, green, juicy, and incredibly natural. Then it slowly transforms into something completely different. Suddenly, I can picture myself standing in a rose garden on a warm day, with a cool breeze constantly passing by. It’s a surprisingly vivid image. The mint never really disappears; it just blends into this airy floral atmosphere that feels elegant and effortless. My girlfriend picks up a subtle spicy nuance that I personally don’t notice, but what we both agree on is the projection. The trail this fragrance leaves behind is enormous and impossible to ignore. The opening alone is one of my favorites in perfumery. I only wish it stayed around a little longer. 8.8/10

It’s like you are being transferred in a garden with minty plants and roses inside an urban district drinking a cold mojito. The mint is hyper realistic and the rose is subtle and beautiful ( not jammy but like wet rose petals). The citruses are not being so forward but they’re giving those mojito vibes. It dries down to a nice musky smell but the mint and rose stay on the background. It has perfect longevity on my skin like 12 hours + but the projection is moderate at best though you can smell it consistently on your self. I don’t know if the ingredients are mostly synthetic but to me the quality seems top notch. The 100 euros I paid for 100 ml is a steal for such a beautiful fragrance. Some say you get bored after some wears but for me the more I wear it the more I fall in love. Perfect summer creation which is simple and consistent yet unique at the same time. Very safe blind buy given it comes from ELDO and perfectly unisex.

I’m yet to experience a mint fragrance that I dislike And this scent solidifies the fact that mint dominant fragrances are always a good thing I remember the first time I sprayed it on my hand and I instantly knew it was a good choice Bought it wore it and loved it And let me tell you a surprising fact it is infinitely better in a very cold climate preferably a rainy day I remember wearing it on one such climate and it was divine On a warmer day it was very good as well But not as good Again as good as the fragrance is but there is a problem Sometimes it disappears probably of nose fatigue but move a little bit or break a sweat and it will rush again to your nose I should point out the first two hours are the best thing about it Performance was very good (I overspray) Projection is ok Props to the perfumer this kind of milestone for some perfumers is an achievement of a lifetime ..congrats

Blind bought 100ml version of this scent as im preparing for summer and its love at first sight.My summer scents are always green and fresh and this one is no exception, in comparison to my last years summer fragrance pick “H24 Herebes vives” by hermes this one is far more fresher citrusy. Im picking up mostly very realistic mint at the top, citrus and some white flowers behind. The first spray i just couldn’t get the idea of this being a mintier version of h24 HV so i took out my bottle with the little fragrance i have left and at closer inspection to me the hermes smells a lot more grown and herby yet still similar. While “You or someone like you” smells like going to the beach bar at 6pm “Herbes vives” smells like going into a small villa and enjoying the summer on your own terms and being away from bigger crowds. This review has turned more into a comparison review but oh well...

Couple seconds after you smell it, it’s a bit sour and I would actually say it smells like armpit but once you get to around 5 mins or so, that’s when it starts smelling absolutely amazing. First time smelling it, I thought of the tomatoes that my aunt had planted in her tiny greenhouse. I immediately knew that it was that specific smell because she made me carry multiple buckets of water back and forth just to water those tomatoes. Basically, the mint and the armpit smell is very strong in the beginning but it quickly fades and I smell the tomatoes I watered in that greenhouse but it’s not just the tomatoes I smell. I smell some obvious green notes and also plenty of citrus. Very fresh but not in a boring “water smell” way, more like a mint tea with citrus and tomatoes(?).It took like 1-2 times of me wearing it for it to grow on me so I give it an 8/10

I adore it. When I first smelled it before applying it to my skin, it brought back a scent memory of getting a really thick fashion magazine when I was a tween and smelling the mix of the glossy pages with all the samples tucked throughout in those folded edges where you had to peel it open and rub them on yourself? That's what it made me think of, this fresh, loosely floral, fashion-forward smell. Only after I read about the mint note was I able to pick that out, but I'm not sure I would have realized that myself. Loved it way more after smelling it on my skin, I've reapplied it a few times now and I find myself sniffing my wrist for a hit of it. I do think it's more fem-coded because of the floral notes, but obviously that has no bearing whatsoever on who can/should wear it.

This fragrance has a vegetal crispness like a tomato & squash garden in July- happy, uplifting and hopeful. Pulling out the mint and lemon balm that threatens to take over the bed. I'm not sure if it's the anise alongside the citrus, but something reminds me of canteloupe melon slices, with a hint of melting popsicles. Sun-drenched but with a fresh green breeze, not too sweet and nothing ambery or spicy. It's a modern scent, but evokes summer childhood memories - for me that would be the 1970s, but the fragrance itself is not dated or vintage in any way. Very unisex and wearable. This was the first ELDO that leapt out at me from the discovery set. Performance is moderate but solid, with the brightness gradually fading into an even lighter, ambient green bouquet.

I have shelves of dark perfume; smokey, spicy, woody, in some cases fairly rank. Sometimes, you just want something straightforwardly invigorating; but it’s hard to find anything which doesn’t smell uninteresting or like Toilet Duck. This works well, and has saved me from having to smell a galaxy of horrendous, airy citruses; for this alone, I am eternally grateful. As others note, the initial smell is minty; for me, it’s less mint tea, more something akin to salty-sweet chanh muoi. There’s a lasting and enjoyable sulphuric-metallic element from the grapefruit which is pleasantly armpitty, and complicates the more floral stuff that comes in later. Perhaps surprisingly, I’m more likely to think I need to shower this off than other, supposedly stickier things.

Like sitting in your garden drinking a mojito while your fresh cotton laundry dries nearby in the sun. Bright, fresh green mint and citrus off the top, which fades into a pleasant clean laundry scent on the dry-down with just a hint of mint and realistic rose-floral note. Not a ton of tonal complexity or development over time, but a very safe and easy wear. A lot of "clean" smelling perfumes go completely powdery on me, like "baby powder and grandmother's perfume" powdery, but YOSLY just stays beautifully fresh and soft and clean, with a bit of a citrusy-minty twist. Feels like a cold drink and a shower in a bottle; I would consider this the perfect daytime warm weather scent if the top notes only lasted a little longer.

The mint in the opening is to die for. Photorealistic and lovely. The green notes support and structure the mint, but it fades pretty quickly. The mid is dominated by rose and more of the green notes, and at this stage reminds me of a tall glass of ice cold green tea that has almost been oversteeped. The rose isn't too oppressive and manages to stay light and sweet without going overboard. The more it dries down, the more the green finally quiets down, leaving a faint musky rose at the end. This one lasts all day on my clothes, about 4 hours on skin. My spouse WFH, and I love coming home and smelling this lingering in the house. It's a favorite for both of us, and we chuckle at the name, too.

From a lot of 20+ ELDO samples: A little soapy, but very clean. Minty, green, slightly aquatic, and very herbal. Almost like mint gum but very nice. Just an easy clean wear for the Spring and Summer. A little grassy but not overwhelmingly grassy, and the freshest of the freshies. Just super herby and green, but herby in like a cilantro and parsley type of way. Like you're cutting fresh herbs. Honestly gets a little better as it dries down. Herbs herbs herbs, grass grass grass, green green green. Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! Really nice. I'm gonna wear my sample a few more times to really develop how I feel about it. Right now will definitely consider getting a bottle when it gets hotter out.

Last summer I used up an entire bottle of YOSLY and I'm now on my second bottle. And there's gonna be a third, and a fourth. I want to have this scent in my collection until the day I no longer breathe. Main note is an incredibly life-like mint, like crushing mint-leaves for a mojito. Then there is the scent of blackcurrant after a summer rain. There used to be blackcurrant bushes next to the swing-set where I grew up, and this just takes me right back. The olfactory memory is amazing. And then you have a sweet rose - like a rosehip bush. And you can almost hear a bumblebee buzzing happily around it. This fragrance just makes me so happy! Like a fuzzy little summer bee.

Absolutely beatiful scent with a realistic mint and green notes. The opening is very fresh and minty, and the drydown brings out some of the anise and musks with a background rose note, almost indetectable but still noticeable. The rose note doesnt make it feminine at all, it makes it fresher in a way. On my skin it easily lasts 7-8 hours in summer, could be longer in winter, and the radiation is strong too thanks to hedione, and the minty note. Absolute banger for the price if you can find it at discounters. A really unique scent that doesnt come across you on the street. Also the mint note is comparable to Torino21.

Mmmmm minty bitter pithy rose but also with a bunch of stems and thorns. Imagine you’re mowing the lawn on a nice day, not too hot but just right, you’ve got a nice little mint soda water, with grapefruit peel oils expressed over the top, you got distracted because your drink is so refreshing and then accidentally mowed your rose bush (oh no!). But the smell is OH YES. I love it. It does not last long at all on me though. Within 2 hours it’s a skin scent and it’s still there but very faint and with a sour sweaty skin thing happening. It’s nice but I’m sad having to dig my nose into my arm to smell anything.
