Aigner Black for Men

I picked-up a bottle of Etienne Aigner Black last year partly because of the good reviews, partly because it was an interesting looking Fall/Winter fragrance, and also because I have been pleased with my other Aigner fragrance purchases such as: N°1 Oud, Statement and |man|2. I wasn't smitten with N°1, N°1 Sport or XX Limited (not quite my style) but they weren't bad scents and, overall, I feel Aigner is a bit underrated. Anyway, I find Aigner Black for Men to be a very nice, smooth-as-silk, intimate or night-out tonka fragrance. I must say that it reminded me a lot of Armani Code Ultimate (those tonka-vanilla tones) and, to a far lesser extent, Allure Sport Eau Extreme, with Aigner Black having a bit more of a leather feel to it. I see leather listed as the most prominent note but, to me, it is much more about the a tonka having strong vanilla qualities, enveloped in green-piney-mossy aromatic tones, and backed by a soft-leather accord giving it those smooth-as-silk and cuddly qualities. But don't take this cuddly-soft quality as meaning this fragrance is in any way feminine or emasculated. While Aigner Black is certainly for a gentleman...make no mistake, the man who wears this fragrance can drop the ladies panties with his manly charm, and can drop any scumbag who gets in this way or endangers others. I envision Arnold Schwarzenegger wearing Aigner Black, while sporting a tux and puffing a stogie, and then terminating some douchebags and then walking-away with a girl on each of his bulging arms. Go ahead...make my night!

It's a great fragrance, nonetheless I can say it might be one of the most interesting ones. It changes so much, depending on temperature and skin chemistry... even on clothes it can smell sweet, sometimes very dark smoky animalic... I would recommend it just for the "unique" factor. It can also smells like IKEA inside when you get close to the food area but this is a plus. I can't define it exactly and it's not something I would wear daily. But it doesn't smell cheap. Sillage and Longevity are average 6-8 hrs with low but sense projection. It might get cloying in hot weather.

this is the only fragance i bought several times and got two bottles ready to use if i run out. i dont like the opening but the drydown its fantastic with the leather, musk, and a bit of oakmoss. its a sweet manly fragance and i like it a lot,and my girlfriend loves this one on me.for me its the only fragance(except amouage beloved) where i got a lot of compliments from other people that i smell good. there realy hard to find even in europe it becomes harder.Did aigner stopped making fragances or something like that ?

Using this one for over 15 years. I have big collection of fragrances including luxury brands such as kurkdijan oud satin mood and killian moonlight in heaven and 6 years working in the perfume industry. Aigner black is one of a kind. No other for this fragrance for cold winter evenings. I thought for 2-3 years that Aigner discontinued this one but i guess they still making it cause I was able to find multiple fresh ones in 2021... If you can find it give it a try, trust me, it worth it.

I remember wearing this in Europe on a business tour. I felt that there was an enigma around me and people became curious to get to know me during the entire time. I remember being confident and suave. It went superbly well with suit & tie formal wear. It's a powerful scent too that lasts the entire day. I have nice memories attached to this bottle and it gets a love from me.

reminds me of john varvatos..the opening is dark leathery smell the citrusy and the minty opens up with good combination ..kinda syrupy with an old skool scent at the beginning..the dy down is fantastic.. really good to wear at work or at night when its cool..this was actually a blind buy..glad i bought it..i love this fragrance

Amaziing.. I got the middle n base from armani code.. but less citrus. 4-6 hour.. Armani code is my signature and this is like wannabe but at the middle n base or less citrus. If u like armani code. U will like this. And more cheap.. I recomended. 8.5/10 Fit for night

This may not be a safe blind buy for all, but this bad boy very quickly turned into one of my favourite ever smells, along with Armani Code and Eclat Homme. What I catch the most out of this is orange and leather, intimate smell.

This is my night signature scent :) My wife love it very much that could turn her on right away.

Classy wintery perfume ! Loved it

I didn't smell leather nothes until the very end. It's a sweet spicy fragrance. Projection is good on my skin. Longevity is also good, but nothing great. I find this perfume to be a very elegant, quite a masculine and mysterious fragrance, but I'm not in love with it. It's not a scent that I made "mine" it's only a nice and good scent. I was looking for my favourite fragrance on a trip abroad and I couldn't find it. The seller told me about Aigner Black and I liked it among other too watery fragrances on which I wouldn't spend one cent. But once I already used it a couple of times I got bored. For me it's only an "emergency perfume" this means if I cannot find any of my favourite fragrances I will use this one, but just as the last resource.

Aigner Black for men is another sweet/oriental fragrance, sorry to say hard to notice leather in it. it is not genuine it is not unique. It is similar to so many fragrances like givenchy Pi, body kouros, 212 sexy men, etc.... Aigner black is best in the beginning where it is quiet masculine with a burst of spices and citruses and then its dry down is sweet and soft. But, more or less it is a nice cologne with respect to its sillage and longevity. Can be worn formally or informally. Suitable for every age group even females can wear it easily. Bottle and packaging is classy! I give it 7 out of 10.

Hmm it's just very signature parfum. Not every people will love it. For the very 1st I got the spirit of orange and begamot, a lil sweet there. And after minutes transition to leather, spicy, and very sweet aroma, I don't know what that sweet came from but it's sweet. For the last, the power of leather is still the same but you will thin vanilla. Because I don't want if use same parfum with another so I always layering with pine oil a lil bit, I put after sprayed aigner black. Based on those reason it's not a summer parfum, better use in evening events. I give it 8/10

The top is smells like burned vanilla cake blend with burned leather. But its smooth and great. Mysterious, masculine, dark but sophisticating. Drydown is very good. Like the top but smoother then blend with vanilla. The base is leathery dominated. Well, maybe not a perfume for mostly men, but it just for a real men.

Black is Black i want my baby back... Hmmmm.... Its good, The opening is not nice, but after 10 min it drys to beautyful smell, Yes its nice smell, It some what similar to Diesel Fuel For men. Not the same but it seems to be. Projection is good & longevity 5 to 6 hours on my skin. Its good. 8/10

Oh my old juice. It gives huge flashbacks to early 2Ks. Leather is a little bit rubbery with enough freshness from grapefruit and mint. I trace ambroxan as well in the dry down. Considered it as nocturnal fragrance because it's quite challenging in hot day. Above average performance on my skin

It's ellegant oriental fragrance, but not original at all. I find it so similar to Black by Bvlgari that I can't recognise one from the other. It's perfect to my taste, this class of scents is my favourite, but I don't like when my frag isn't recognisable by anyone.

Somehow, this is my go to when i dont know what to wear. Citrusy on the top, changing to little bit sweet and musky later on. Performance is meh, need to respray. Easily likeable. All season all ocassion in my opinion, even in the summer. signature scent worthy

i wear it to my hubby. its the only one aigner that i only love. The women perfume its not works on me..( my fave its HUGO, Versace, Moschino) but the black one for men its GOOD 7/10.

This smells great but gone in 30 minutes on my skin. Shame as it has promise

For as much as I enjoyed the scent, it never performed for me. I tried everything, and all I got is a faint scent, promising to be something but never had the potency or the potential. A bad lemon? maybe, given all the positive review, but I ended up giving it away.

Could not find anything great. Very generic mint-bergamot opening, a little too harsh & bitter. Slides into even more generic heart. Dont even remember whats the dry-down like. Overall, I did not find it nice or desirable. I bought it as a blind buy and gave it away as a gift to college going cousin. He apparently likes it. May have a sniff again someday and see what the fuss is all about. Not sure why its named black, its anything but black in its vibe. Worse,on my skin it doesn't last. Have seen reviews on how it lasts 5-6hrs on some. All I can say is "lucky bastards". ;)

This was given to me as a gift. I kept it for years and sprayed it only periodically to test it. I absolutely loathe this frag. It is unbearably harsh from the top through most of its life. It was so bad that I didn't even feel like giving it out to someone. So it ended up in garbage.

Had it for 14 years in the glove compartment of my car. Never liked it and somehow took it out today and tested it again. Somehow it still gives the old man vibe and I am a lot older now. Same goes with my wasted money on Sauvage PARFUM. Just joined this forum to map out the the notes that I dislike. Please can somebody help me. Amazing smelling guides, reputable Designer Collection, along with Dior Homme, highend perfume, fantasy spectacular, fragrant delights! Very beginning, with citrus and bergamot, can not feel, but because pine and oak, made so furious bout that for a moment I perfume taken in 80-macho these stiffs, so brutal, but the retro charm only lasts 2-3 minutes, and blowing them beautiful powdery musk, which they make it clear that the 80's, long gone, then increases sweet tonka powdery line with gentle contours of tobacco, while he brings styrax, honey ingredients, skin, and again a little heavier "soil tobacco, very similar to The Dreamer, so that the tobacco leather skin, simply drowned in a well, a totally different mix, and yet, so unreal!Amazing bottle leather cap(I hope it is not real leather), a masterful bottle so powerful it seems to inspire fear, the one who took it in his hand, and in the magic of fragrant essences of pleasure, which push the boundaries so far seen, I can almost, to say that the smell of the border for the experience abstract sense of smell! Aura, special, perfect drydown, Sillage, yet I can not say, tonight I bought it, I think, to a shade could be better, but this does little to reduce, this fragrant perfection!

A very typical start with sharp notes, but the strength of this perfume is the mid-notes with the sparkle of pine and mint, which not only are well-joint but also make a good link between the top and base notes. In addition, I think this fragrance is good for all seasons. Eventually it is a good perfume and has a great deal of longevity and sillage.

Like most german fragrances, Black is a strong and a bit old-styled, but very man-ish and sexy scent. The citrus openning is sharp and dense, but it changes into something bitterness(I guess it's bergamont left) very soon, and then something more smokey and earthy(the pinetree, oakmoss and leather) which is the part I like the most. As the fragrance developes, notes from musk, styrax and tonka beans take place, warm, animalic, with some sweetness in it. staying power is good, five sprays can last for 6-8hours, long enough for work.

This one rocks in the beginning, let me be more clear for the first one hour. It smells rich and opulent, the powdery note being supported by almond-like note produced by sweet tonka bean along with oakmoss and Pine tree. However, this "fleeting" opulent smell doesn't last long to be followed by intense Merito spray smell due to the emergence of the Musk note over Leather and Tonka bean ones. GOOD LUCK ;0

Its potent comes out at hot weather. I like it but never be my signature. It's kind of little bit too sweet for me. I double it with Pierre Balmain for men and the result is ........ sweet leathery herbal scent ... i don't get what it is... it's magic.

Exceptional leather fragrance, too bad it is discontinued. One spritz is enough for 12+ hours. On clothes it lasted around 2-3 days. The Opening is little harsh, but after 2-3 minutes everything is ok.

the opening is like bitter cough syrup. but the drydown is heaven. i love when white musk surround my body. great lasting power too. it is easy to reach 8 hours.

This is not a good fragrance IMO.. There is a toothpaste vibe in it.. And it is so simple, not in a good way.. Sorry, just my honest opinion..

like other 'black' fragrances .. This perfume smells mysterious..... have an elegant leather smell, and I recommend it..

Very close to Jacques Bogart City Tower. Medium performance. Pleasent, but nothing special.

Sexy and very man-ish. My kind of man. I think I will try Black Woman anytime soon.
