Jacquard

As a lucky first reviewer I’ll try my best to describe Jacquard based on a splash sample vial. Not looking at the notes, Jacquard started of as a flora scent that smelled instantly powdery. It somehow reminded me of washrooms of luxury 5 star hotels; those with gold-framed mirrors, antique paintings where everyone that walked in wear black high-heels that knock against the shiny marble floor. Right after I dabbed on the liquid I could no longer smell the bergamot and the flower was coming out strong and unsweetened. A dry iris more so than a buttery iris I would say. About 5 minutes into wearing some spicy notes became more and more prominent and right away Jacquard was a warm iris scent. It's not green or wet nor soapy. After half an hour Jacquard became such a skin scent that I have to put my nose close to my arm to smell it. Surprisingly I recognized ylang-ylang’s signature banana smell atop from the iris, which gave this fragrance some deliciousness. From then on the scent didn’t change much. The musk was always muted in the background until after two, three hours and together with the ylang-ylang it smelled pretty amazing. On me I didn’t smell vetiver, sandalwood (or any woodiness tbh), resin or jasmine. Maybe a little bit of violet? A beautiful dry iris scent that matches up its bottle design: soft, powdery, and slightly exotic. *Update* the official note pyramid on Etro's website is: Top: Bergamot, Angelica, Black Pepper Middle: Iris, Jasmine, Ylang-ylang Bottom: Musk, Violet which explained why I never smelled the imaginary vetiver or woodiness.

I was thinking to buy Etro Heliotrope and stop by to (again) teste it on my skin but the dry down became “old went wrong” scent, so i went again to test it to Etro boutique in Vienne and seller recommended me to try Jacquard and i fell in love with it right the way. Beautiful scent white flowers, leather, some spices but yet remains powdery. Very differrent from my others scents. Anyway I purchased 10 ml beautiful bottle (for to see better and not to make again too fast later regretted purchase) and i am happy so far with it and thinking to buy whole bottle

One of the most complicated scents I’ve tried from Etro. I get a watery, green aquatic vibe from Jacquard. But I’m also picking up the creaminess of the Iris note and a makeup powder feeling. Initially I was thinking I disliked it, but the more I wore it, the more agreeable Jacquard became. I can’t pull out the individual notes, but I do not doubt the list of ingredients. I’m a fan of Angelica, and that note is what makes this a challenge, as it pulled the scent into an herbal direction. This is not an easy wear though, still very lovely as Jacquard sits squarely in the niche bucket. I will need to experience this again, preferable with a spray and not a dabber vial.

This is a strange fragrance. You will love it or hate it there is no middle way. I buy it because it's describe like powdery fragrance, but it isn't powdery at all. Impossibile to distingue each one ingredient, I smell only babies woody pastels smell. But I like it it's a different original pleasant perfume, but I recommend to try it before purchase!

On my skin, Jacquard opens with a strong spicy bomb of pepper and resin. It's dry, oriental, smoky, and a bit citrusy. It softens and becomes more feminine in the middle, where the pungent notes go down and the flowers shine through a fine curtain of powder. This is my favourite part. It becomes a bit more soapy as the time goes by, while the aromatic woody notes take the stage in the last part. This is a mature, complex and quite unisex scent, with a strong performance. Not a safe blind buy, but definitely worth of consideration from people who love woody notes with spices and a touch of powdery flowers. I don't know why I keep telling the SA that I don't like spicy and woody notes and they keep gifting me these type of samples, but here we go again, this is not for me.
