Musk

I blind bought a bottle for two reasons. 1.) It was said to be close to Gaiac 10 by Le Labo and 2.) I wanted to explore the house of Etro. It bears some similarities to Gaiac 10 - namely in its vague, transparent, crisp, clean opening and heart notes. However the dry downs are not similar. Etro's Musk is not smoky or creamy on my skin. Instead, Etro's musk is surprisingly masculine and retro. It reminds me of the smell of the redwood forests of coastal Northern California... fog, bark, ferns, drizzle, foliage, ravines, streams, lily of the valley. It's not nearly as "cozy" as some of my other musks, but it is a great scent for when I want something that won't be distracting or overwhelming. That said, performance is quite good. I find the Etro bottles beautiful. Atomizer is very good. 3.5/5

My relationship with Etro Musk is a funny one. I’m able to identify it as nothing special — a clean musk with a zingy dose of unsweetened citrus — yet I keep coming back. There’s something addictive in its fresh, clean, breezy quality. spidola sums it up perfectly in her review below: zen. I hate how much I love all of the Etro fragrances I’ve tried so far... they’re entirely too expensive for the longevity, but are unmatched in their simple beauty.

I love MUSK and this one is WOW!!!!!! It is so uplifting and nice. I loved this scent, especially when I needed a lift. It really made me feel nice. It is a clean musk. Earthy, but yet light. Very good for the price and I would recommend buying the shower gel and body cream.

For me its very very fresh scent, almost like after shower feeling or fresh laundry... NOT musky actually, I'm still trying it, lets see if i fall in love:)

I don’t know if the “Musk” is right name for this beautiful perfume. I think musk is the ingredient which emphases others and it depends always on other notes. The musk can be very sensual, sweet, woody, floral,but also fresh and clean. And the Etro Musk is exactly the last one. It’s even citrusy, herby, woody and soapy. The one word for describing it would by “pure”. In the morning when you open the windows and take a deep breath you can have the same sensation as wearing Etro Musk – just ZEN...It’s seems like a magic eraser have cancelled worries of everyday commitments, but also the necessity to be always sensual (yes, sometimes it's like a necessity) and you are in front of a clean page. The perfume could be a little bit stronger and more long lasting (on my skin has lasted 3-4 hours), but it’s OK even how it is. NICE!

It seems odd to me that other reviews call this a light citrus or chypre and refer to is as insubstantial. I have found on first application this is a jolt - it almost scared me on first whiff, and since I had sprayed it directly on myself, I had to endure. Two minutes later it was a different beast - close your eyes, and you are stepping through old forest - twigs under foot muffled by moss. A stream nearby and the air - not still, brings the smoke of a nearby campfire or small woodland burn. It is a strong scent, but I honestly find I like it. Probably more traditionally masculine. I'm going to wear it anyway. ** Layered with Eau de Gingembre by Mizensir it is phenomenal.

There is nothing much to say about this perfume - it is very light, stays really close to skin, very clean, unoffensive and unisex. At the opening small amounts of citrus were there, but as soon as it develops a bit more I am left with a woody and clean skin scent. It is almost unnoticeable. If you are in these kind of scents, do try this, it smells good, but as far as for myself - I've never understood the need to smell "like clean skin".

Bought this because I love the opening n the mid, but the drydown becomes a bit too manly for me. Nonetheless I still like it. It's somewhere between fresh ironing, Wood Sage & Sea Salt, white musk and a generic mens shaving foam with that slight creamy freshness. Smells of the year it was born, which is what I wanted.

Simple, but very nice. I get a sweet, clean and a bit smoky musk. Nothing extraordinary, but very well executed. Smells classy and really unisex. Something for elegant and low profile people who are sure of themselves and have personality. I would really appreciate smelling it on a gentleman.

I would call this Etro fragrance Musk Fraiche. I smell it as a crisp, clean and well mannered Musk. Therefore inoffensive and slightly boring. Great Etro quality (as usual) but as is the case with Musc Nomade and Over the Musk it’s just not the musk I am looking for. ***(**)

This is a citrus, sandalwood, cedar combination; pleasant, unisex, not terribly masculine.

I would say I enjoy a lot because the creamy sandalwood not. Creamy and soft.

This perfume smells like fresh-ironed sheets that have been sprayed with lemonade. It's also very long-lasting, though the projection is soft, so it's perfect for those situations where you don't want to be invasive. On a more personal level, I have yet to find a musk-dominant perfume that I want to wear: though the scent of clean bed linen is amazingly comforting, it doesn't entice me to wear it. I'll use the mini I got to spray my pillowcase before going to bed and keep on looking. 5/10

This is a pretty little perfume. It begins with sparkling citrus and green notes, very refreshing. Quite a long time it is more of a green fragrance than a musk on me, after about 11⁄2 hour it warms up beautufully. It stays close to the skin and smells warm, a little powdery and very pleasant... on my right wrist that is! On my left it still smells green and a bit citrus. Very strange indeed, almost like I put on two different perfumes, but still with some familarity. I have never experienced such a thing, only that the same perfume can smell a bit different on different spots of the body... but not in this way. Anyway I enjoy it, and recommend it, it is an easy to like kind of musk and a must try if you enjoy green fragrances.

This perfume is quite a flowery, woodsy very light musk. As if one just walks out of the bathroom, with washed skin, all clean hair and fresh clothes. It disappears quickly after application, and therefor more functions like a cologne than a perfume. The composition is very linear, not complex. I can't really be bothered to name the notes, as they would be like any 'general flower and wood composition.' It feels rather 'young' though classic at the same time, but nothing to turn your head. Other Etro perfumes are much more interesting and there are many perfumes that operate in the same realm, that do offer more complexity and are much more worth your money.

gorgeous. this scent is just so nostalgic. the words that come to mind are serene, clean, zen, natural. It makes me feel like I am meditating in a very clean, minimalistic, but elegant east-asian vacation home, surrounded by a lush forest. Then imagine that some woods are being burnt nearby, and a cool breeze comes in through a huge window, carrying that scent. that's how I feel when I smell it. the scent makes me think of colors like hazy pale grey or ashy white. the bottle is so much more elegant than i had anticipated and the boxing was very nice. It comes with this little card explaining the scent and I really enjoyed the whole experience.

Etro Musk is a very mild musky scent that doesn't fall neither in the skanky type nor in the laundry one. The closest thing to it is Reminiscence Musc, but more clean and less indecent in the beginning. Also NR Musc Oil smells a bit like Etro Musk and Bottega Verde Muschio Bianco, too. Anyway in the end some plastic edge comes out together with a more prominent musk-like note. All in all a simple perfume to enjoy, pleasant and safe.

A clean, inoffensive summer musk, with citrus and wood notes in support roles. Everything I have tried from Etro is impressive in one regard: how natural they smell. I never pick up synthetic notes. My test was with a dauber, lightly applied. I got a couple of hours before it disappeared, so good performance for an EDT. Last one from my discovery kit.

The name "Musk" is a bit deceptive, as this does not smell like skin at all, but rather like a light woodsy men's cologne, or a mild woodsy chypre. Almost all I can smell is the bergamot and cedar. It's nice and friendly, but too masculine and colorless.
