Rajasthan

Gosh but this is beautiful! There’s a point in drydown that lasts a long time where Rajasthan becomes so ethereal it’s almost unreal. The layers of rose, black locust, amber, lemon, deeper fruit note (cassis per Fragrantica notes), mimosa, clean and SOFT musk (no bite whatsoever) all flex and twine and layer around each other so perfectly! The opening hits amber and rose most, with a light resin/incense of labdanum. Perhaps unique to this fragrance (and perhaps Lush’s Rose Jam) the lemon grows more noticeable later into the dry down. It’s a lemongrassy lemon. There is some skeletal similarity between Etro’s Rajasthan and Lubin’s Grisette - they both have a subtle amber anchor (less so in Grisette) and - especially after a fairly long dry down in both - a similar musky, fruity rose. Grisette hits the rose harder, Rajasthan the mixed florals. You could easily have, and wear both - they’re not smellalikes, but sisters or cousins. This really is exquisite but coming from Etro, it’s not surprising. They have scents that are so complex and evocative that they are art.

I am dearly adoring Rajasthan. The oriental wibe in Rajasthan is alive, realistic, peaceful, sunny and happily self-content. Not hectic, not glamourous, not loud. Very feminine, sunnily colourful, brightly spicy, velvety and India in its best- bringing the most cheerful contentment to whatever you are attending. Apparently I'm tenderly smiling all the time when wearing it... EDIT: together with heavy snow and -15°C Rajasthan awakes to a new life- sparkling of a luminuos, creamy, spicy and even more pronounced radiant, colourful character. When temperatures decrease- instead of staying inside, Rajasthan encourages you to jump out to the sun and snow, bringing the healthy pink to your cheeks. I can truly appreciate that!

The frag is quite lovely! I appreciate mimosa notes, perhaps because I like my fragrances powdery. This fragrance opens quite aquatic, with green notes and a tart, juicy rose. Roses are not my jam, but the mimosa and acacia (they're in the same family) sure are! I feel like they meld really well with musk and the human skin. The powdery character of these notes is a bit soapy and really evokes clean, soft skin for me. I really like this frag as a clean, subtle my skin but better scent. Not trying to be sexy, not trying to be anything but clean. And that's kind of sexy. Still, this frag is the epitome of office appropriate and would make a great everyday scent.

I absolutely love this, it's bright and beautiful, like an explosion of colour in smell. I am not sure if some people expect it to be rich, thick and musky and are disappointed that it's not? For me it's a delight; soft, warm, sensual, powdery, sweet with a hint of spice, if colorful was a smell this would be it, with rose and lemon running through. Love at first sniff.

Tested from a sample. OMG.....I love this...but performance is average on me. This one reminds me of something else....but I cannot figure it out yet...LOL. I own 5 other Etro scents...with varying performances good and mediocre. But I love this house. Very good quality compositions. So, Rajasthan will be a full bottle purchase soon !!

Light like a breeze, feminine, mysterious and playful. Delicate flower notes surrounded by spices. And honey, although not listed. It doesn't smell like anything I've tried so far, but shares the same vibe with Dior's Forever and ever. I associate this fragrance with Sting's song "Fields of Gold". Just as soothing and exquisite.

A fellow fragrance lover gave me a sample of this one and I fell in love with it. It’s musky, powdery, a little sweet a little spicy, a little floral & a little playful. Desperately hunting for a full sized bottle but can’t seem to find it anywhere in India. Can anyone help?

Finally purchased it!!!!!!!!!! Im in eternal search for my ultimate fresh/peppery scent! this one is not fresh. but soooooo peppery - just crazy inlove with this scent - creamy pepper:)

Warm , full of spices, flower. Feminine but one can for the man to. Beautifully is developed . Deep scent. It does not overpower :)

Rajasthan is very different from what I expected it to be like; for some reason, probably the enticing notes pyramid combined with the effervescent design of the bottle, I thought it would be an exuberant kind of fragrance. So when I got the exact opposite of that, it made my first couple of times wearing it confusing and a little difficult, and I was disappointed at first. Now that my decant is halfway done, I do like it a lot more, although I'm still on the fence about it. In a generous mood I'd call it subtle and mysterious, with hidden depths; in an ungenerous mood words like "weak" and "vague" come to mind. It's a very subdued scent, soft and slightly powdery, quite feminine with a focus on mimosa and creamy pepper - I personally hardly get any rose at all. Not really "me", but very nice. Most of all though, I'd call it a very intimate fragrance: it stays close to the skin from the start, and nobody will realize that you smell good until they get very close indeed. Which can be a very good thing, of course, but I myself mostly wear perfume for my own enjoyment, and with this one I find myself forgetting that I'm wearing any until my wrist happens to be near my nose for some reason. So all in all I don't think I'll ever get a full bottle of this one, although I will enjoy using up my decant.

Several decades ago I travelled to India and spent a week or so in the Rajasthan area, specifically Udaipur. I was expecting this scent to smell like the dry land, exotic street vendor smells and spicy dishes that come out of this area—this perfume does not evoke the area for me. Both times I wore Rajasthan the perfume, I was disappointed in the opening. As soon as I let go of my expectations, I did find myself enjoying the soft lemon cloud and powdery mimosa. But make no mistake, this is a floral scent sitting on a musk base with so zero spices, leaning very feminine. I like Rajasthan, though it’s not a love. I would like to wear this scent in warmer weather, and from a spray and not a dabber vial. Average performance both times I wore the perfume.

Recognizable and unique sweet floral fragrance. Can't think of any scents similar to this one - it's like a medley of essential rose oil, lemon oil, pepper and amber. I say oils specifically, because it's not airy and flowery at all - definitely has a lot of weight and substance to it, and is most reminiscent of natural oil-based perfumes. The musk in the base is distinctly soapy. There's also a bit of fruitiness to it that makes it possible to wear in summer. Despite being somewhat heavy and complex, it's also youthful - for me, it paints a picture of a girl wearing a beautiful magenta-and-gold sari. Overall, a very uplifting and memorable scent.

From a 1.5 ml sample: This is a bright, luminous and playful scent; it's on the sweet side but not cloying; in fact, sillage is moderate and non offensive. The spices are very very soft, almost undetectable to my nose. I can tell there's a floral note but I hardly smell any rose; the mimosa is more evident without being dusty or podwery as you might imagine thinking of the flower itself: the lemon note is always in the background and keeps it fresh. It's not a monster of longevity. In my opinion this is an easy fragrance to wear on any occasion and season. I like it and will enjoy my sample, but I don't feel the urge to purchase a full bottle.

Ohhh, i just need to have it! Sooo "far east"! i can scent the heat wave just by staring at the bottle...very india, mystery, warm weather, vivid deserts...and the bottle- the most amaizing colture masterpiece! ( i just love the fact that it has a 'clean' desighn, but still it represents everything it's name means! )

NOTE (from ETRO web): NEROLI, PINK PEPPER, MIMOSA, MUSK. This is very nice, not dark, not spicy, more musky than floral. To my nose it is really similar to the original blue pot NIVEA cream scent. Safe for office and daily use.

This one's a pleasant modern female, spicey and sweet. It doesn't have much character on its own, but style nevertheless. Suitable for women who want to feel a touch of class during an otherwise ordinary day. ***

It's a very nice perfume! I hate rose, but I love this one. I get mimosa,lemon,pink pepper,well balanced rose and amber.

Rajasthan was a surprise for me. First of all : this is not one of those scents I usually go for. I am into heavy, dark and very distinct orientals (or chypres) and Rajasthan is all but dark and heavy. Maybe this is what gave me the notion "You need this. It ́s different and you do not want to always smell like an evil witch" :-) Smelling Rajasthan brings me into a good mood instantaneously. What a wonderful blast of citrus, powdery flowers and vanilla ! Very powdery, indeed...but I very much enjoy the mixture. And so soft as baby skin or a cashmere scarf. On sunny autumn and winter days the perfect match and on the less enjoyable colder days it will warm my heart. Not being so much an ETRO fan I was really surprised that I finally found one in their line that I really like...but hey, even the Opium girls love a cuddly scent once in a while :-)

I have three samples of Etro and when I first smelt all three together, I realized this one was my least favorite. It's just like too much of everything; too much spice; too much oriental notes; too sour and bitter. It may seem interesting for people in western countries, but personally I've grown up with such aromas, maybe that's why I don't find it interesting. It becomes a little more pleasant to my nose as the time passes. floral notes appear and blend with spicy first accords. Still far away from my comfort zone, but I can imagine that it suits freezing weather. Fortunately the silage is very mild, so it will not bother anybody, even the one who wears it and doesn't admire it (in this case me!).

I love rose, so I kinda surprise I don't enjoy Rajashtan. Maybe it's too spicy for my taste. It reminds me of spice stores with mystical and mysterious owner. Or maybe you inherent an old house from a recently died aunt that rumoured to be a witch. And her scent still lingering in the room. This would be her scent. This is not bad, really. But not something that I would wear unless I wear something hippie or dressed as a fortune teller. That the image I have in mind when wearing Rajashtan.

I just adore the bottle, the notes and the name of this perfume. My ancestors emigrated to South Australia in 1840 on board the ship "The Rajahstan" from Somerset in England. Will have to do some sleuthing to see if it is available in any of the major department stores here. Do hope so. Would absolutely love to try it. Smells like Musc Halima by El-Nabil, but more intense and, I think that it doesn't smell like lemon, rather like cactus flower; in this point is very similar to Ma Vie by Boss, but, in other accords, it is very different. Smells like an oriental and hot cake with mimosa, very sensual. It is a winter parfum, because in summer smells like baby towels...

The soft and tender embrace of Rajasthan is so Etro. Its floral hug soothes the senses, its spicy moves thrill the mind, its gentle exoticism warms the heart. Colorful and vibrant like its bottle Rajasthan is a decent addition to the Etro family. I love wearing it, it never bores me, but is also pleasantly unremarkable. ****(*)

Silviaci there are actually people that get to try these fragrances before they hit the market, so I am not surprised people liked it before it came out. Bloggers especially will get to try new fragrances before they appear in the retail market :)

Scent - mimosa, rose, lemon, musk & labdanum. Season/Time of Day - I prefer to use this one in the warmer months, during the day. Projection - I did get noticed, it garners compliments. Longevity - I get 8hrs consistently. #19

Nice a bit sweet woody rose-mimosa. Soft sillage. Good longevity. Sweet from the skin. Woodier from the clothes. Very wearable and comfortable.

It's a lovely and amazing scent...warm,spicy...I want a bottle please.
