Butterfly

This fragrance. Quite beautiful. I have never smelled a Fougere like this one. At the beginning I was completely taken away by a very lovely, citrusy like brightness. I actually smiled because I knew this perfume was about to take me on a journey. It is decidedly green and herbal. Very refreshing. The mint is not like a strident peppermint, but a nice noticeable mint, perhaps more along the lines of spearmint than peppermint. I really enjoyed that aspect. At the outset it was a bit mild. Bright, but mild, however, after about 20 minutes, the sage and geranium began to forcefully make their presence known. On my skin the sage and geranium were very pronounced. Good thing I love both of those scents. For about an hour they were center stage. And then just as suddenly, it made a massive switch and all I could smell were delicious violets with an herbal edge of lavender. Very beautiful. What I found extraordinary about this fragrance was it's "peek-a-boo" nature. Just like a butterfly! How that was accomplished I will never know. But at some points it seemed the scent totally dropped off. I wondered if I was anosmic to some of it ( I had my wrist glued to my nose after all!!). And then swoosh! There would come back some different element of the fragrance. This is really great for spring/summer and I think it would be a nice segue scent for transitioning from afternoon and settling into dusk. If you love green, grassy, herbal fragrances, definitely give this a try!

I am not usually a lover of green fragrances but Butterfly has captivated me. It opens with a quite powerful mint aroma that, despite being surrounded by other elements, monopolizes almost all the prominence during the first 30 min - 1h of development. Little by little the perfume becomes softer and creamier, acquiring a totally addictive tone. Not in a perfume that projects overwhelmingly, but rather one that creates a light aura around you. From time to time I can feel a burst of aroma coming and I think... It smells good! Due to its nature, I see it as more of a perfume to wear during the day and in warmer seasons - Quality; although I imagine that in winter it will also have a very good behavior. To put some downside, I could talk about longevity. It doesn't last long on my skin, although this is something that happens with most green and aquatic fragrances, and one of the reasons why they rarely catch my eye. But in this case, honestly, I don't really care because while I'm wearing it I can only think... I want to smell like this for the rest of my life! I discovered it thanks to a sample of "ecuación natural" but now it is definitely on my wish list! This is mainly a green floral. The marigold is standing out for me, as is the geranium and sage, but the other herbs and flowers occasionally make their presence known. What is really interesting is the "brook water." Typically when I see aquatic notes I expect something chemical and reminiscent of Nautica. This has the damp smell that the air gets near a stream. It complements the vegetation and gives it a nice earthy feel. I'm revisiting this in spring and it is awesome! Very herbal/weedy floral with that awesome damp booke note and it lasts all day! Im going to be on the hunt for more of this soon!

Spring is here in abundance! This is an incredibly beautiful spring/ summer fragrance. The mint is so refreshing not toothpaste like but is very prominent on first spray so go easy! Once it settles the mint remains but more subdued than that first blast and is blended really well with the other notes giving an outdoors feel and is so refreshing. I get the violet and grassy notes and really enjoy it just wish it was slightly cheaper price wise.

I have been very excited to try this fragrance for quite some time! The note composition seems perfect for conjuring the feeling of sitting in a garden in the spring time and breathing in the greenery while watching butterflies flutter. I only have a dabber vial, so it's possible that my experience of this fragrance would be different with a spray. The first application is extremely green and herbal on me, almost to the point of being bitter, like freshly snapped green stems. The fragrance then settles into what I imagine a meadow of wildflowers would smell like, with the aromatic greenery of the grasses still present, and some underlying spring air sweetness of blooming flowers. Butterfly retains some feeling of almost being a chypre for me, perhaps because I can sense the oakmoss peeping through the other floral and herbal notes. The projection is fairly soft on my skin, but it has lasted well so far, and I would be curious to see how this would do when sprayed rather than dabbed. I shall be testing further!
