Wald

I love this! It's become my scent this summer, and I think I will have to reorder when the bottle is empty. I can't add much to cdaleb73110's review, I pretty much agree with it, and I am terrible at describing notes. But here is the enchanted forest everyone seems to be looking for. It's a magical scent. I've found that the vagabond prince's enchanted forest has a weird, strident note (what is it, black currant? can't remember now) that is so sharp, distracting and icky (technical term) that I don't smell any forest whatsoever. I do love serge luten's fille en aiguilles. It's a summer forest, sun warmed dry pine needles, dried fruits, incense...lovely and DRY lol. Wald is more lush and alive. I put it on and love the initial hit I get- very significant christmas tree-ish pine (which I am into)- that not so much as fades, but melts quickly into the well blended story (see promo material on their website, and the review below). Then, as I go about my day, little movements will send seriously beautiful wafts of this gorgeous scent to my nose and I am struck by "oh! what is that luscious smell? it's me!" It's not a scent so much as something that puts you in a beautiful, magical place, at least on one plane of your existence. The scent comes in a screw top bottle, and you also get a glass stopper-topped bottle. Really pretty, and handy for travel. Leave some of the oil in the screw top bottle, and some on your dresser lookin' hip and intriguing.

I remember getting one of Euphorium Brooklyn's [large!] samples of Wald because at the time it had been compared to Slumberhouse's Norne, with which I was in new love. It is decidedly not like Norne, at least not what I was sold (I have the yellow alcohol version, which replaced the green oil version). Gnomes with dreadlocks smell like Norne, and Wald, to my nose, is more about people places than forest places; genteel, urban warlocks instead of sylvan ones; hipsters instead of hippies. I can't help but think that this is what an apothecary in San Francisco must have smelled like at the turn of the 20th century, where one could purchase a variety of snake oils, tinctures and barber scents, all made from an amalgam of natural materials. It has a complex body of spices and subtle sweetness that sparkle and fizz like champagne in a cast-iron pan on a wood stove. Recognizably masculine, good in cooler months, decent performance, naturalistic, challenging in a good way, and animal-friendly. Highly recommended for guys who want something artful that's somehow still familiar-smelling. A great fragrance.

شروعی آکنده از دود؛شبیه جنگلی که تمام درختان اش در آتش سوخته و خاکستر شده اند و تنها چند درخت نیم سوخته که ازشون دود بلند میشه،به چشم می خوره. فضای تنباکویی_میوه ای که در عین حال بوی سوختگی هم توش حس میشه و در سراسر این مسیر یک تم چوبی_آروماتیک قوی هم وجود داره که گاهی به سمت خاکی شدن سوق پیدا می کنه و گاهی آمبری شدن. بی نهایت کمپلکس و پیچیده طراحی شده و هر لحظه بینی رو درگیر یک نت جدید و خاص می کنه. !!!ممکنه به زعم برخی افراد بویی شبیه به کبریت و گوگرد داشته باشه که کمی شیرین شده؛گاهی هم چنین بازخوردی گرفتم که بوی طویله میده عطرت در کل فضای غالب این کار آروماتیک_چوبی_دودی و آمبری به همراه کمی ادویه هست. وجه انیمالیک عطر گاهی خیلی سرراست و مستقیم به مشام میاد و گاهی هم در قامت یک چرم دودی و دباغی نشده. خیلی پوشیدنی نیست و ممکنه بازخوردهای خوبی ازش دریافت نکنید اما فوق العاده زیبا و استادانه ساخته شده و خلاقیت محور هست. مثل یک سینمایی جذاب با داستانی گیرا *********************** scent:9/10 longevity:9/10 sillage:8.5/10 purchase value:3.5/10 ****** overall:7.5/10

A Slumberhouse type of scent and price but it is worth it IMO. It's an oil so it sits close to the skin but is not a skin scent. That thick green color will stain clothes so this needs to go directly on the skin. This is truly the most unique scent that I have ever smelled. It's coniferous and smoky but not challenging or weird as it has a bit of maple in it to give it a touch of sweetness. It's earthy,dirty,green and smoky. Cdaleb's review described it perfectly when he said it's Fille De Aiguilles meets Lonestar Memories. This is the first that I have tried from the house but am looking forward to eventually sampling the entire lineup. Hopefully in due time they will have a cult Following like Slumberhouse. It may sound cheesy but if I were to name this scent I would call it "Green Smoke" or Coniferious Midnight" as Wald does not really catch the eye but what do I know? If you love the Lutens and the Tauer then this is a must sample.

For me, this is autumn in a bottle: bonfire or chimney smoke on a brisk day in October; old witchy ivy-covered brick houses near a forest path; sunlight flickering over colorful autumn leaves; driving down a forest highway on a windy day through an exhilarating mix of sunlight and shadow. There's sweet moist earth underneath the smoke, woods, and resins. The effect is dry yet complex, suggesting a temporary dryness, like that of a sunny afternoon in a rainy place replete with moss and ferns. It's somehow clean yet not clean; the smoke is the cleansing smoke of fire and incense, yet the deep earth is alive with all that earth holds. It's a bit uncanny. This would make a great Halloween perfume. All in all--as someone who loves incense and woods--this is one of my favorite perfumes.
