Amber Sky

Okay, after a week of wearing this one I am finally ready to write a review. I will start by saying I am quite cynical when it comes to fragrances, just like most of us can be on here. I try to keep myself in check and keep a positive attitude. During my spare time I travel from one store to the next in search of fragrances, trying all the new ones, and every scent I can get my hands on. I have smelled them all it seems sometimes. And you know how you long for that experience when you try a scent and it instantly excites you and makes you think, "Wow, I love this! I have to have it!" That is the experience I had with this scent. It was an instant love. I became even more excited than usual because, I'm sure all you frequent sniffers understand how rare that happens wwith all the trendy perfumes. Ex: Iris, Ambroxan, etc. They all smell the same. When I first sniffed Amber Sky I instantly picked up on the leathery nuances, but the scent was also very sweet. But NOT in a Tuscan Leather sort of way. You instantly pick up on all the spices and ingredients that make it sweet. Vanilla, spices like nutmeg, tonka, the amber & sandalwood. Even though no leather or oud is listed, I picked up on the notes in a big way. The woody, leathery, sweet notes. I kept the testing paper and continued shopping. I am never one to make a rash decision and at nearly $700 Canadian dollars a bottle, this was not a decision to take lightly. I kept the paper tester and went home with the sales associates business card. A few days later I knew I had to have it. I could still smell the basenotes on the paper. I texted the associate to let her know I wanted to buy it since I still had her card. The customer service was top notch for Ex Nihlo. Once I took my new baby home, I decided to wear it all week. Another thing I love about this brand is the packaging, it was handsome and well designed. The spray comes out of the atomizer in a super fine and forceful mist. I just love their marketing and design. The logo, the bottle, the names of scents, the patterns on the bottle- all are truly unique and interesting. What I found truly refreshing was the modernity of the brand. There is no heavy baggage, like a long antiquated story about how they use to make perfumes for kings. Even though I love those brands, I am so sick of hearing such long puffed up histories from "perfume houses". Even my beloved CHANEL- too many youtube videos on their channel about their "history". Creed, Clive Christian, Guerlain, etc etc. Granted many of these histories are valid and warranted. (Many, not all). But to me it doesn't matter. It seems like every perfume house has to have some sort of history behind it, and I am just over it. They are all blending together. So you can imagine my relief when I researched the brand and found out it was established my three young friends in Paris, one an engineer etc. They are just three regular interesting people making perfume now, in 2019. Shocking isn't it? You mean their not using King Louis secret perfume recipe from 1800? <---- Sarcasm. During my research I found out Drake and Pharrell enjoy the scents, so that was cool. Then came my first day wearing it. I sprayed it and loved it. I had never worn it on my skin before, but judging from the testing strip I expected this to be beastmode sillage and longevity. (And also from the other reviews here). This is where the reality set in. What I found was quite the opposite. This gives the illusion of a beast mode fragrance. But the longest I could get out of it was 4-6 hours. I expected this to be beastmode performance like Mancera Aoud Vanille or something. Haha- Not even close. This performs like a John Varvatos or Jo Malone. After a few hours you need to reapply because it is GONE. The sillage cloud is definitely not more than a meter around you. This is a pleasant scent as it dries down and if someone is close to you they will say you smell good. You will be able to enjoy it, but don't expect it to make an entrance. Having said that, am I disappointed? Not at all. I still LOVE this scent. It is the perfect scent if you want to wear a beastmode type scent to the office and NOT get noticed lol, but still smell really good. It reminds me of a cocky guy I went to high school with. He use to brag a lot about how tough he was, act really macho. But when you'd go to his house his mother would tell you how she taught him to bake cookies, and how he cries during sad movies. He was still a great guy. This fragrance is that guy. Lol I have had a few experiences with Ex Nihlo like this. Although I found one that has beastmode performance, and that one is French Affair. I will say this one does very faintly stay with you after the 6 hour mark. But in all fairness I can't count that because I have many $100 Manceras that last well past 12 hours with one spritz. But I would purchase this one all over again because it smells so good. Like pure class and sophistication. If you enjoy sweet-spicey amber woody-leathery scents, you would enjoy this one too.

Love the scent... but I have smelled it before... Penhaligon’s has not one but two perfumes in their Portraits collection, Sohan and Yasmine, which are basically the exact same olfactory profile as this one... The funny thing is that those two mention Laotian Oud on their compositions... strangely, there is no such note listed for this perfume on Fragrantica nor on Ex Nihilo’s website... it also smells a lot like Incense, another note that this perfume supposedly doesn’t have. Let’s move on to what the brand actually says it has... We will start with the Amber, yes it’s there, resinous and dry... it also has Nutmeg and Coriander, a lot of those creating quite an earthy accord... Tonka and Resinoid Vanilla, accounted for, forming a very sweet and delicious blend, which unfortunately is only noticeable on the drydown... Sandalwood, present but subdued... and finally Cedarwood, unnecessarily encapsulating the whole fragrance... Strange choices for all of the ingredients... the ones that they admit and the ones they don’t... In reality this fragrance smells like softened oud, with an incense aura, earthy nutmeg in the heart, and an ambery vanillic combo in the bottom. The name is very misleading, as amber is not the main note... definitely not a blind buy. Another similarity with Penhaligon’s is its poor performance... projection is intimate from the beginning and longevity is around 6 hours, although after the third hour it is only faintly recognizable... which is a shame because the vanilla drydown is the best part, much better than the opening... performance on this juice is a big let down from what’s expected from a niche Eau de Parfum. Amber Sky is a good scent, with better drydown, but terrible performance. Nothing more.

I purchased 5 x 7.5 Ml (about a 40ml) travel set for $140 which is a bit pricey but retails for $230. I wanted to try Amber Sky because my current favorite amber fragrance is AP Myrrhe Imperiale- which is currently selling for two months of mortgage payments on eBay -thus my desire to find a less expensive alternative. Since it’s in the “reminds me of section” and both were created by the late, great, Olivier Pescheux I went for it. Amber Sky opens up on the ground with a ton of coriander! I smell a lot of herbaceous (almost cumin like) coriander and cedar is what jumps out for the first hour. Especially when I smell it next to Myhrre Imperiale which is now a touch soapier smelling it next to Amber Sky. Amber Sky is very strong. It definitely give you your monies worth in performance. Around 2 hours, Amber Sky starts to diffuse and expand upwards- the coriander lets up and the sticky, resinous amber I experience from the beginning of Myhhre Imperiale is here and stays. This smells natural to me, nothing synthetic or unbalanced. Really beautiful and if I find a partial or full bottle at a great price, I’ll snatch it up.

Nutmeg dominant Amber woody spicy scent slightly sweetened by tonka and vanilla. This has a sandy texture to it that many spicy fragrances seem to loose later into the dry down. The texture usually starts to break down and bleeds into the other notes which creates a smooth finish. This one maintains all of it’s slightly sharp edges of nutmeg and coriander, I so appreciate this aspect. This isn’t a resinous Amber, it’s more of a dry and soft spicy type. Dry sauna cedar and sandalwood create a really strong woody base. The tonka doesn’t get powdery it’s well tamed and pairs very well with the vanilla which smells like the authentic bean, earthy and perfectly balanced. Nutmeg is an intoxicating note to my nose, it smells like some type of narcotic, with so many complex facets. I think you really have to appreciate this note because Amber sky is dominated by nutmeg. I’ve smelled thousands and this is my number two all time favorite scent behind Initio’s Rehab. It’s utterly divine floating softly in cool air, the scent trail is dangerous in the sense that it’s narcotic and sexual, but at the same time sophisticated.

It’s a dark, stormy night. While visiting her aunt and uncle at their small but charming English country estate (built in 1876), she creeps down the stairs to the English oak paneled library and discovers a leather bound novel she’s always been curious about. Not wanting to wake anybody, she digs around and finds a vanilla Glade candle and some matches with which to light it, eager to dig into the novel. Smells of old high-quality wood, amber, leather-like oud, even some rum in the beginning. Vanilla comes out increasingly in the later drydown. I’m not big on oud these days, but I think very highly of the oud offerings from Ex Nihilo, and I believe this is my favorite of the bunch. Pretty strong stuff, lasts all day, and I will be considering a full bottle. Update: I keep reaching for my spray sample (direct from Ex Nihilo), and sometimes I catch whisps of frankincense. Love this one! I really don’t smell any nutmeg. In any case I purchased a full bottle. This will be on high rotation come fall ‘23.

This fragrance is a wow. IT starts bright, sweet, effervescent ! I get a green note that feels like a juicy green apple that is sensetional you get that amber accord that develops throughout the all experience and is accompanied by a vanilla absolute that is sweet and and still very juicy. All adds up to a complex modern and sweet and slithgly fresh scent. AMAZING JOB THERE ! Is it long lasting ? Not that much but, it has good projection ! i get 6/7 hrs with this. still very enojoyable hours. Although past the 6 hrs mark it smells like plain amber unfortunately. Is it compliment worthy ? Yes, this is a mass appelaing fragrance that stills has its touch of originality giving it that uniqueness that will make you likeable and standout. Is it natural smelling or is it synthetic ? This is as natural as it can get. I picture myself eating an apple pie in the middle of a park on a bright day. Totally unisex imo. Mark: 9.7/10 i would have given it a 10 with a bit more longevity considering the price...

Amber Sky is beautiful. Its combination of Bergamot & Geranium creates an accord that smells like a fresh Green Apple. The Saffron used in this fragrance smells both, fresh/spicy & leathery. Now imagine slicing a fresh Green Apple & laying it on top of a Brown luxury Leather Bag, then topping it with Coriander, Nutmeg, & Saffron. Then finally drizzling warm Amber over the entire thing. If I had to compare Ex Nihilo's Amber Sky to another fragrance. I would say it smells similar in ways to both, Mancera's Honey Aoud, & Parfums De Marly's Habdan. With it leaning closer in scent to Mancera's Honey Aoud, but of higher quality. Amber Sky is very alluring. It has great performance & can be worn by men & women. Although I feel like women would better appreciate this scent on a man. Its great for Fall & Winter, but because its airy & fresh/spicy I feel like it can be worn year round. I see this fragrance has gathered some hate, but its a love for me & a for sure compliment getter.

To put it simply. This bad boy is a spicy amber fragrance. When you first spray it on, you get a strong nutmeg note that can be a bit harsh if you smell it close to your skin. that note stays heavy until the very end of the basenotes. But, where this fragrance really shines is with its use of Amber, Vanilla, Tonka, Sandalwood and Cedar. I also get some other resins like Myrrh and or Benzoin. This scent becomes very creamy from the sandalwood. But, is also very dense from the cedarwood. But, the sweetness from the resins, vanilla, and tonka cut through those woods and spices. This fragrance also last forever. I sprayed it on the other morning and I can still smell it on my skin. This fragrance performs fantastically. Also, this fragrance does smell a bit like Russkaya Kozha from Berdoues. They both have a similar spicy sweet woody vibe too them. If you can't afford the 500 plus price tag on Amber Sky, I would say go with the Berdoues. It is also a fantastic fragrance.

Opening: the bergamot adds a brightness to the coriander which takes the front stage of the opening for about 30-60 mins with spicy amber in the backdrop. Dry down: once the coriander and bergamot fade out you get the spicy (nutmeg) amber with some vanilla, tonka bean, and wood (mostly cedar) that lasts for about 12 hours on skin and up to if not more than 24 hours on clothes. I sprayed some on a jacket and it lasted for about a week before the dent started to dissipate. It’s really well blended. Overall this fragrance should never be bought at retail price, $600 CAD for the 100ml is insanity and definitely not worth it however I picked mine up from a discounter 45% off which I would say is 100% worth it. I love this fragrance, great for winters, special/formal occasions mostly. At retail I’d say it’s a 2/10 if you can get it heavily discounted (40-50% off) well worth it 9/10.

This sits in between a love and like for me. It is powerful and quite long lasting. It is not ground breaking by any means. Nevertheless, in comparison to the thousands of Ambers out there, this one is certainly worth samp[ling. If there is such a thing as a deep amber then this one fits this category. It may be synthetic but it still is something I would wear in the evening in cooler weather. It isn't in the league with Ambre Sultan. but that one is legendary and lots of people wear it. It has some affinities with Ambre Russe, a fragrance that I love. It can't touch Grand Soir Maison Francis Kurkdjian, but very few do. If someone has cash to spare in order to get something that is quite good and off of the trail of the shining Amber stars, then this fits the bill. I am pleased I have it, but might not buy it again at this point in my scent journey.

After testing this perfume for a few weeks, I’m finally ready to share my thoughts. The opening greets you with a bright burst of bergamot—vivid but fleeting (15 seconds tops)—before transitioning to a warm, spicy heart dominated by coriander and nutmeg. As it settles, the fragrance reveals a beautifully distinctive blend of vanilla and tonka bean, enriched by amber and soft woody undertones. Hours later, the dry-down leaves behind a comforting trail of vanilla and woods, wrapping you in a cozy, understated elegance. This perfume feels airy (to some extend), not overpowering or cloying—an ideal choice for colder weather. Its longevity is exceptional, lingering on the skin for hours. The blend is masterfully crafted, rich and complete, requiring no layering to enhance its depth. Today, I fully committed and got the 100 ml bottle—worth every drop!

I’ve had this on since 12:30pm, washed my hands easily over 10 times. It’s now 11pm and it’s still projecting like crazy as I’m able to smell it without needing to bring my nose near my hands. Sometimes fragrances are ridiculously expensive and it’s difficult to understand why, not this one. At the very least the performance lives up to the price point. Then if you love the scent as I do it’s perfection. This to me is a niche quality remix of the original Gucci Pour Homme. So glad I have 3 bottles, I just wish the weather would be cold more often so I could wear it more often **edit it’s now 7:30am so 19 hours, a shower, around 15 hand washes since I sprayed and I can still smell it on my arms/hands. Anyone that tells you it only lasts 4 hours needs to get their nose checked

I’m in love. I sampled this at Saks 5th ave and really enjoyed it but was deterred by the price and luckily they were nice enough to give me a sample to take home. This and atlas fever really caught my eye when I sampled them. I tried it at home again away from the barrage of smells from testing many other different fragrances and that’s when I really fell in love. A really beautiful and fragrant dusty, spicy, warm and creamy scent. Incredible performance too. This lasted on my skin for 10-12 hours with very good projection for 6-7 hours. Luckily I found an 100ml of this on MaxAroma for about half the retail price so I pulled the trigger and do not regret it at all. This is in the same vein as Byredo Mumbai Noise and also Orto Parisi Terroni 9.5/10 for me all around

I agree with Sir Charles below. It is similar to Armani Myrrhe Imperiale but better, IMO. It has more depth and is more complex. I absolutely loved it. I thought about selling my Myrrhe Imperiale since it’s so close to this but I think they both have their place in my collection. Both are awesome but this one edges out MI. I’m surprised this isn’t rated higher. I thought it should be at least a 4.5 or above. Its a 10/10 for me. It’s worth the money.

To my nose Amber sky starts with a slightly fresh, slightly sweet amber, stays like that for about an hour and them transitions in to a dark deep woody amber and stays like that for about 10-12 hours. Never got the vanilla, the cumin or the bergamot, nutmeg is noticeable but not overwhelming and cedar and amber, to my nose ,take center stage in this fragrance. Overall a beautiful cold weather amber fragrance with solid performance.

To me, this smells almost exactly like Roja Dove's Amber Aoud upon initial application, just a little sweeter. The differences become clear on the dry down though as Amber Aoud leans feminine, whereas Amber Sky is completely unisex. Gorgeous though, and I'd say this was a safe blind buy for anyone.

Thank you for the reviews. I check this page weekly, watching for others opinions on this fragrance. I am definitely a little bit obsessed. Lol So strange how it lasts so long on someone and disappears after a few hours on me. Anyways, this is one of my favorite scents this past year.

I got a sample of this direct from Ex Nihilo, and although i really like it, i found the cost to be far too high to warrant a purchase, especially as the longevity and sillage just doesn’t live up to the price. Nice frag but sitting way too deep into the niche wallet.

Kind of questionable out of the test vial, but my skin I guess ate all the nasty notes. It becomes a thick, sweet, warm, balmy smell. A little sour/BOness, too. It matches the bottle's aesthetic, a futuristic nightclub like the Hive from Deus Ex HR.

I really like this fragrance. Amber, vanilla, Tonka, Sandalwood and Cedar. What's not to like. A nuclear performance, sillage. This is a 10/10 in my book. If the price was half of what it is this would have been a hit.

I bought this fragrance today. I love it. At this point I'm speechless. All I know is that I love it. I will try to put it into words in the near future.

Spicy resinous at the top Dries into an Ambery realistic vanilla of the highest quality. Performs very well. Total compliment getter DNA.

Will someone else please review this one! I am hungry to read other peoples points of view and hear their experiences. Lol

This is what I WISH Myrrh Imperiale smelled like. Very similar, but Amber Sky smells more natural and more complex.

I think Amber Sky is a lovely woody amber. Amber Sky is also 250 euro for a measly 50 ml. However lovely this fragrance may be, it's still not worth the price Ex Nihilo is asking. I honestly find them to be one of the most shameless brands when it comes to pricing - sure, niche is usually expensive, but Ex Nihilo is E X P E N S I V E, and I have yet to figure out what supposedly justifies this. They're not a well-established brand, their perfumes are not unique, nothing about the scents scream incredible quality. That's probably why this is hands down the only brand I know of where the majority of reviews will state that it's not worth the price, because it isn't. Amber Sky is lovely, as is Venenum Kiss. But Ex Nihilo clearly thinks they have some kind of expertise that they simply do not have. I'm no stranger to niche perfumes, and have been lucky enough to smell some eye-wateringly expensive fragrances such as Roja's Diaghilev. While I wouldn't purchase it, the quality is evident, and because of this the price seems less offensive. The stuff Ex Nihilo puts out while asking you to pay the equivalent of a weekend in Paris is downright offensive though, and because of this it's a brand I just feel incredibly iffy about. The quality or uniqueness just isn't there, and I would advise anyone interested in niche perfumery to outright skip Ex Nihilo.

Objectively, this is indeed a solid fragrance, but I will say it's not that original. Within niche, we have several scents similar to this, e.g. Xerjoff's Amber Star and Stephane Humbert Lucas' Sand Dance. Amber Sky mainly smells like an amber-woody fragrance with very mild sweetness (vanilla) and a slightly powdery opening. Some spices as it dries, nothing too significant. Performance around 8-10 hours, sillage between moderate and strong. This is a masculine leaning scent for winter-fall, you could maybe do something with this in spring as well. €350 for 100ml is abysmal value, even if you buy this in 50ml you can just get the SHL instead.

Sensual sophisticated but deceptively named woody musk scent. The scent opens with notes of bergamot, berries and slight florals. The heart is nutmeg, coriander and patchouli. The perfume settles into an amber like semi synthetic base (but has no real amber) which is comprised of vanilla, leather, musk and woody notes. The well blended unisex scent has moderate to strong projection and very good longevity. Overall overpriced for what it offers but like other offerings of this brand, it exudes a luxurious and slightly feral vibe to it. Enjoy!

I like this, BUT/AND it has a note that smells generic, at this point. Something woody/aromachemically in the drydown. Something that makes me not want to drop serious coin on it, because it's to be found in every Ulta/Sephora/dupe/tween marketing creation in the mall ever. Do people still even go to malls? If they do, you would smell this after customers have been spraying all day. Kind of like House of Oud Golden Powder. Kind of like Le Labo Oud 27. You get the drift... Very pleasant. Very pricey. Very predictable.

This is magic. To me, this smells like they took Interlude Man Amouage & Laudano Nero Tiziana Terenzi paired it up with each other and we have a birth of Amber Sky Ex Nihilo. Now this one is a BEAST MODE one at most two sprays one on the neck one on a wrist and you are set for a day as for season it works best in winter/fall even in colder days/nights of spring.

First Impression: The opening is very strong and musky but it calms down in 5 minutes. Initially it, reminded me of Bond Amber but but musk instead of oud, and a little more nutmeg and obvious amber fixatives like amberwood and/or amberone. The drydown converges into something along the lines of grand soir.

Nice vanillic amber with tonka support. Unfortunately "just nice" is not enough to make it full bottle worthy, especially at this price point. Pass.

It’s a great but completely masculine scent. I believe it is made for alpha men!

I find this very cloying and almost bubblegummy upon first spray, even with just two sprays. It takes a good 10-15 minutes for the opening to fade into something nice. I found that the longer I wear it, the more I like it. Its progression into a warm, creamy, ambery tonka is very pleasant. I wish it opened that way! It ends up being a nice ambery vanilla, but I think it's overpriced for what it is. With the opening, it wouldn't be a purchase for me. 6.5/10.

Cumin is not listed but I got it full blown on my skin with the very first spray. It’s very nauseous body odor like and went on for at least three hours straight. The amber vanilla tonka that came after was nice enough to help the scent but overall it’s a bad juice for me.

if the spice is your thing, this is done well. for me it stays around the same spicy amberish vibe thru the whole thing, and for that it does it really well, but it's personally not my thing. 100% sample before buying

Tried this early in the morning before the heat of the day set in and loved the lightly spicy, slightly sweet amber, with a touch of vanilla and subtle leather notes. Then the Iso e super enters the picture, which to some smells like wood notes, and takes over the fragrance. If half of people smell that chemical as wood notes, and the other half smell it as chemical, which to me smells like pure Isopropyl alcohol, why do perfumers use it? I don't get it. Shouldn't they want to please as many people as possible and use the real thing - wood? Forget I asked. I already know the answer. They do it because it is cheap. Something like that shouldn't even be in a scent of this price. Glad I only had a sample to try.

Not a fan of this at all. It smells like straight up BO & ass. It’s very musty & funky. It smells like a man who just went to the gym and did heavy cardio who had to go out right after without showering & just sprayed a cheapie blue shower gel type of cologne on trying to cover up the rancid stench. Disgusting.

i just dont like nutmeg smell, nutmeg and roses (but more green)

My deepest regret is not dating a bipolar crazy woman for 2 years. It's buying this fragrance. The smell is as suffocating as the fights we had over stupid stuff. It is so strong that it makes me nauseous even with 1 spray. It gives you headaches like "Do you even love me anymore" questions after a long day at work. Also it can leave a dent in your budget. I would probably like it if I was drunk enough. Go figure what were last two sentences about. Overall 3/10

Amber Sky is a nutmeg bomb. I am sensitive to nutmeg, and I have 1 perfume in my collection that I like w/ it in the composition. It is a note in my opinion must be handled w/ care because it can overwhelm a fragrance. All I smell is nutmeg that is swimming in a vat of sweet vanilla. Yuck! Just downgraded this to a hate. If you enjoy nutmeg and vanilla check this out but it is a hard no for me.

The overall vibe of this fragrance is tantamount to chunky amber soup with nutmeg the size of meatballs. The combination showcases a Myrhh accord. Prior to amber becoming a factor, there's a strong deep leather/corriander combo eerily similar to L'air du desert. That comparison last for about 5 minutes until you realize that your world is about to turn orange-yellow. This fragrance smells biblical. If you spray this too many times, someone is gonna think you're hiding a dead body somewhere. I should get on youtube and start an Amber Sky challenge. The challenge would be "How many times can you spray Amber Sky to the point where it feels like you're carrying it?" Contrary to my pseudo-rant, I like this stuff! I probably don't like it the way YOU like it but I do like it. My wallet doesn't like it though. ...and this is the part where the wealthy needs welfare...After looking at this price, I bet you have a better appreciation for that Myrrhe Imperiale huh?

This opens with spicy coriander and bergamot that quickly melts into a dense amber heart. As it develops, the fragrance becomes richer and deeper, revealing cedarwood, and sandalwood layered over a resinous amber base. Even 30 minutes after spraying, I began to clearly smell oud, which added an even darker, woodier dimension to the scent. This pushed the composition in a direction that felt heavier and more traditionally masculine. On my skin, the fragrance leaned distinctly masculine. Even as it dried down and the amber softened, the woody and spicy elements continued to dominate, giving it a classic men’s cologne feel to my nose. I still smell oud here. While I can appreciate the quality of the ingredients and the richness of the amber accord, the scent never shifted into something I personally enjoy wearing. For me, Amber Sky reads much more like a fragrance designed for a man rather than a unisex amber.

How is there no oud in this fragrance? It completely reminds me of Aaron Terence Hughes Unicorn (which is oud heavy). Unicorn reminds me of Haltane, which people say is very similar to Oud For Greatness (which I see 7 people said was similar, but 11 people disagreed). Therefore, by association, I would have to agree that this smells like Oud for Greatness (which I haven't smelled), and Haltane and Unicorn (which I own). This scent is 100% a winter fragrance. I thought it would be more mass appealing, and I'm looking for more winter based mass appealing scents to add to my repertoire, but this isn't it. I might as well wear Unicorn or even ATH Requiem if I'm going for this type of profile, which honestly, I just don't see happening. It's oudy, it's woody, it's even animalic. It's not bad, it's just not mass appealing, and it'll take some getting used to.

This isn't bad but in my multiple testings at Saks, I found the base (which dominates most of the wear) to be far, far too common smelling. The Fan di Fendi Assoluto comparison is very apt. Not on initial spray but in the drydown they share a very similar tonka-vanilla-synth wood base. I like Assoluto - it's a nice scent but I paid $40 for a 50ml. The Ex Nihilo is 10x that and is far too common smelling in the base. The perfumer, the late Mr Pescheux, made his name in big and bold designer scents. This feels like a niche attempt at those designer sensibilities. I like it, just not at the obnoxious price. Longevity is great at 10+ hours but much of it wore close to the skin. Projection was interesting for an hour or less each time and then you got that designer-like base. A 7.25/10 for me. Not bad, too common, and far too expensive.

This is one of those you look at the notes and hope for the best, and then you see the price and kinda hope you won't like it as well... Well.. Perhaps thankfully this one didnt do any for me. A little to much kick at the top for me. I also think its a very plasticy, rubber ball kinda amber smell as well... As it dries down it gets better and although the notes dont list it it has a sorta juicy nuance at the base that lasts despite the listed notes.. perhaps its the geranium lasting through again giving a sorta plastic somewhat juicy fruity red tinge to the amber making me think of some kinda candy of sorts.. Which kinda interesting and unexpected in its own way... Anyway just ok for me nothing particular special. But maybe im not rich or smart enough to truly appreciate it. But because of the price im fine with that

Very beautiful. I would say very clean, I don't know why but when I smelled it first, I thought "so clean and nice". It's gorgeous for sure but don't expect a deep, misterious dark amber. I don't find it warm (like amber should be in my opinion) Not at all. It actually reminds me a lot of Rosendo Mateu n.5, I compared them and on paper and after half an hour I couldn't distinguish them. Like Rosendo n.5, I want to love it so bad but it has something that doesn't convince me. It's nice but at the same time it gives me a cold vibe. Sorry to say but as beautiful as it is, I find it somehow chemical and overpriced. Just my opinion
