Devil Tender

Like the name tells: this is very tender Roses, not too sweet anyway, very enjoyable, stylish, classy and seductive. Rose water keeps it transparent and not creamy. it turns out a bit powdery but not a dry or make up powdery one. Suede accord is extremely subtle, barely noticeable. The scent stays very close to the skin but lasts 6-7 hours. There is not Tea, nor Vanilla or Heliotrope mentioned officially, but I think the combination of Peach juice accord, slightly sweet Petalia note and Sandalwood makes it feel like it had vanilla in it. What comes to Vanilla, before writing this and checking the notes I was thinking like that as well first but after wearing it more it doesn’t have that kind of aroma since the scent is utterly fresh and clean. It evolves into softer and more like velvety texture. Devil Tender is suitable for all ages imo. It’s excellent for the office. This is not a confident booster though, it rather makes you feel very pretty and young even if it't not a juvenile scent. Like most of ex Nihilos, it screams a quiet luxury. Read this because I own Devil Tender and have thought long and hard before writing this review. What it smells like : really peppery rose, with some powdery peach nuances. Does it smell familar? Hell yes. I also own three bottles of the now discontinued Narcisso Rodriguez Rouge (the red cube). I bought back up bottles as soon as I heard that it will be discontinued. My problem with DT: Its a NR Rouge dupe. So we now pay niche price, for a dupe of a designer that was significantly cheaper, that had better projection and got discontinued. And its not even a problem, because Devil Tender is beautiful and likeable. But its weaker than the designer perfume that it was inspired by. Narcisso Rouge never got the hype it deserved - and it was stronger, and lasted longer than Devil Tender. Devil Tender is a watered down, more peppery take on the delina-like rose dna. And yes, its lovely. And yes it makes you feel pretty. And yes its wearable year round. But does it justify the high price point : no. Dont get me wrong, I still purchased it. But thats because NR Rouge was my all time favorite, my go to. But sadly, Devil Tender is like the little sister of Rouge. For a much higher price.

Tested in major department store Knightsbridge. In similar vein to "Fleur Narcotique" but instead of that iconic lychee note, we are dealing here with an almost screechy peach. Rose is the main ingredient, but it is not the first impression as it is slightly alienated with that peach, pink pepper and that pungent grapefruit note. The latter almost makes this concoction gourmand, but there is enough counter balance to not make it too cloying. The suede and the wooden notes round this off and give it that long-lasting luxury cashmere scarf comforting and warming feeling. For me, not quite as ground-breaking as the lychee sister/ brother, but still a very good comeback on this "wet fruity" theme. Personally this one is also more feminine, compared to "Fleur Narcotique" and certainly more geared towards spring/ summer. In fact I could see a Claudia Schiffer wearing this in a 70ies retro commercial for, say, Chloe, riding bareback on a white horse (no not into Studio 54) but through an orchard of either flowering or cropping peach trees somewhere in Georgia, USA or Japan. Verdict: 7.5/10 Good effort overall. Longevity is very good. Worth a try (before you buy).

The first time I smelled this, I quickly envisioned a flanker called “Chloe Gourmand” because it smelled like Chloe with cardamom and traces of powdery violet. Very quickly it took on a gooey quality, like a fresh, chewy batch of Turkish delight. Next came something soft and creamy. In the heart, a clean and pure magenta rose came into focus. This is a pink rosy, slightly gourmand perfume. Sillage was very strong at first, but it becomes a simpler skin scent after 20 minutes. It’s feminine and intimate and would be great for a first date. It smells tidy and very put-together, like you made sure your nails, hair and outfit are impeccable for this person you really want to impress. It’s a darling fragrance that is a very easy, very enjoyable reach. I love that it’s sweetness is restrained. Update: I am so in love with this fragrance and purchased a full bottle. It’s like a body spray, sillage is so soft. I adore it though and touch up if needed. It’s the perfect compromise between a powdery rose-violet perfume and a jammy one.

Sweet. Rose. Cream. I don’t smell the peach note. I have to agree with the reviewer a couple of posts below: I like it. Pretty over beautiful, Devil Tender smells ultra feminine. I typically don’t wear girly scents, but I would wear this again. Very good performance helps keep this in the consideration pile. I have one more to go in my Ex Nihilo Discovery box, and this is my favorite. I don’t think everything I wear has to be challenging or unique, but I want what I wear to make me feel good. Devil Tender does it for me. Would I pull the trigger on a bottle at retail? No. But that goes for many perfumes in my collection. I’m no compelled to buy it but I would trade for Devil Tender, and I wouldn’t pass on a grey market deal. Post review edit: I more than like this scent. One of the reasons it stands apart is that similar scents will go in a plastic direction on my skin. This stays natural all the way through the dry down. Devil Tender is a great take on this genre of sweet rose scents.

People literally say it is a very generic and duty-free scent etc. However, I personally admire this scent. It is a gorgeous rose and peach scent with some sweet powderiness from heliotrope and suede notes to balance all the notes. It has a vibe similar to Fleur Narcotique and Lust in Paradise, but Devil Tender smells more natural and softer. The problem is a lack of longevity and silage...it is almost a skin scent. However, I would like to get it 100ml soon.

In early 2000s I wore the original Baby Doll and loved it. When I had a whiff of this I thought OMG it’s Baby Doll! But that was 20 or so ago and I haven’t smelled it since. Does anyone else who had/has BD see the same connection? The grapefruit, rose and slight woods!! Fresh, but slightly sweet. I love it. (PS Fragrantica doesn’t list pink grapefruit under BD which is crazy as it was the note that “made” BD special.)

This Parfume is a very pleasant powdery scent- not too sweet- good enough to be a favourite powdery rose. I can feel the rose and heliothrope and sandal wood with a little vanilla. IIMO it's very feminin one. LOVE.

Rose with a twist. It's so soft, tender, pleasant but it has something "devilish" in it. Very sexy.

Ok, unlike some other reviewers I actually like this rose and peach confection. Light, sweet, glowingly rosey, sunny, very pretty, very feminine. Garners compliments, it just smells like beauty. I don't know about devilish, but it's seductive. It doesn't smell unique to me, though - in fact I know I've smelled many very similar frags before. But what? Maybe Rosa Nobile, maybe a touch of Fille de Berlin, a dash of Delina, but also some cheapies too. Smells like a lot of other things I own, so while I'd be delighted to receive a bottle as a gift, I can't see myself spending Ex Nihilo prices on it. I'll definitely use up my sample though.

I like this a lot. It's a blast of pink pepper with a touch of sweet fruit and inoffensive florals. This is like a much less gourmand, less sweet Lancome Tresor La Nuit a la Folie in the summertime sans vanilla. This is simular to what I remember Valentino Rock'n Rose to be like (the Valentino sample I most recently received just smells too synthetic now). I don't think I would use a full bottle, and it is not "love" status because I like my scents fruitier, but it really is a beautiful little potion.

Quite mainstream and generic, but also very pretty. The aroma is delicate, flowery, feminine. My friend kept asking what is that beautiful smell she's getting in the room all of the sudden. It was Devil Tender. It doesn't seem like it projects much as it looks so dainty and polite (let's say, way more dainty and polite than the other notorious rose Delina), but apparently people are able to smell it in the room. The rose is not at all a bold one, rather pink-ish, soft and milky.

A beautiful scent that feels more designer than niche to me. Definite Delina vibes so if you have that you’re all set here. Edit: I want to change my original review- I would say the comparison to Nina Ricci Rose Extase is much more appropriate here. It doesn’t have that sharp sour (litchi) bite of Delina. I really want to buy it but since I own Rose Extase, I’m trying to reign myself in!

Grapefruit dominant at the top. I pick up black tea in the mid. This is a lovely creamy suede and sweet rosy fragrance. Drydown smells of watery rose. I like this one a lot because it's pretty and feminine. But nfbw for me because it's a bit generic for the price. And it goes a little metallic on card/skin. -

One of the more underrated perfumes by Ex Nihilo. It’s a lovely rose perfume with a little bit of powder. I don’t get fruits notes. This perfume is elegant, sophisticated and gorgeous. Not really a juvenile perfume. As with most Ex Nihilo perfume this has a an okay longevity and weak projection.

This fragrance offers a delightful blend of airy freshness with the gentle allure of roses. Its subtlety is its charm, never overpowering but always present, lending an air of sophistication. It exudes a certain mature elegance, or perhaps one might simply describe it as chic.

the bottle is beautiful, the name is intriguing...this is one i WANTED TO LOVE so badly...but i just dont. it barely stays on the skin, and the smell is so vague compared to many other ex nihilo scents, which have much more confidence in their identity.

Soft rose with just a touch of piquancy from the citrus, and an added dash of peach. An easy to wear rose.

This gives me the same vibe of Gris Dior, with more sandalwood and with suede.

I'm really glad I purchased decants of Ex Nihilo fragrances before purchasing any full bottles! So many YouTubers have recommended this brand! But upon trying the decants and sniffing the testers at Sak's. Nothing really wowed me. Every fragrance reminded me of something else, but better. This one, Devil Tender, for example, really reminded me of Forbidden Games by Kilian, which is one of my favs from Kilian, and definitely a notch better than Devil Tender. FG is better blended and more sophisticated than DT. For a well-blended fruity-floral, I would definitely recommend FG over DT. But I must admit, I would probably eventually buy a full bottle of something from Ex Nihilo, just because the bottle is so beautiful, definitely my taste! xD

It’s so great that you can order a discovery set on the official site, and the cost is deducted from your future purchase of a full-size bottle! And even if you don’t buy anything else afterward, it’s still a better deal than decants. I’ve tried a few different ones already, and I just can’t smell them! It’s such a disappointment 😞 With this one in particular, I stop smelling it after 10 minutes. And I don’t even like them that much. It’s like some old-fashioned rose from the past or something. I’ll try it in different weather; today’s heat might be really getting in the way.

This just plain does not smell good to me. Smells like a bit of a disjointed mess and is actually making me feel a little depressed, frankly. Light, fresh rose with a very synthetic peach, some bitter tannins from both tea and leather and I smell some shampoo musk peeking out from beneath. Scrubber. For those who are reporting barely being able to smell some from this line, I can say that they all are omnipotent and omnipresent on me. I’ll trade for the anosmia. For rose leather I would much prefer the likes of Hermes Kelly Caleche or Galop.

After a brief burst of peppery rose, his scent dries down quickly to a generic artificially sweetened slightly floral, slightly fruity, mostly powdery vanilla. Disappointing.

Very acrid and abrasive smell to my nose, something just very unlikable for me.

Devil tender is a rose perfume with creamy hint of sandalwood and the softness of suede. Pink pepper gives a vague fruity impression and the heliotrope a slight powdering to the fragrance. I do not find anything diabolical or scandalous in the composition, as the name could make think. Instead, for me the fragrance gines a virginal impression of femininity, but malice lies in the eye of the beholder and maybe I don't look as I should ... In any case, the fragrance seems suitable for spring / summer and daily use. The lack of longevity is unfortunately its worst fault. It is as delicate and pretty as is ephemeral. I'm so sorry because I like it very much... could this be the diabolical side?

This perfume. It made me tear up with nostalgia, but not necessarily in a positive way, since it smells like a knockoff of Lucky You by Luckybrand, a fragrance I used to wear in my early 20's. It is a dead ringer. I mean, the juice is even the same color. It's not a bad scent, but laughably overpriced. Wanna wow and not break the bank? Pick up a bottle of lucky for $12 at Ross.

The suede in here is super nice, similar to Peony and Blush Suede by JM. It's roses, peach, heliotrope, pink pepper, and suede. I detect a subtle tea scent as well. It's sweet, tart, not powdery like Narcisco Rouge EDT. This is more tart, peppery off the top. Dries down to a rose and suede fragrance. Stays fairly tart throughout the duration of the scent, which I love.

Red roses, slight peppers, vanilla, tea, cedar, & sandalwood. I can't sense any peaches in here. I do sense something like leather texture and maybe suede texture as well! but i believe it's the rosy and sandalwood, cedar mix that creates that suede leathery texture. It's a meh to be honest as i did sensed plenty of designer fragrances that smells like this one here.

Testing a sample today. Agree that there are similarities to Delina without the rhurbarb note. Maybe a bit less rose too. The suede (iris?) plays a bigger part but it doesn't smell dank or off like some suede / iris perfumes can. I like the smell but it is too much of a skin scent for me. I like more projection. But I sprayed heavily so maybe I went anosmic.

Devil Tender is floral, fruity and vaguely woody in the style of Modern Muse Rouge. Well, it could also be a (very) diluted version of Valentino Donna and Armani Si. Don't expect leather when the brand says "suede". Nice but not mysterious at all.

-Its strange but the rose in this reminds me of orange blossom for some reason. -It's a mass-pleasing scent with a niche price tag. -Light, rosy, powdery scent that's a touch lighter than Belle de Jour by Maison Dior. -Linear scent to my nose. (-)
