The Hedonist Extrait de Parfum

So I got the 7.5 ml sample from my sales assistance and it's been sitting in my drawer for a year. Then I went to short trip to Japan and brought this little bottle because I was too lazy to decant my daily perfume into a bottle. AND HOLY SHIT. I fell in love. First of all. The scent. I won't describe the notes because you can easily find it on this page. I will tell you the feeling. It feels familiar, luxurious and oddly comforting (due to having a familiar DNA). Imagine when a man with crisp suit, probs in his late 30s to 40s, or a sophisticated lady passing me by in an aircon building. It's rich, musky (idk how I got this but the blend of oud and woody notes giving me this vibes) but fresh and almost trustworthy (to my nose, apparently my brain associating this scent to that emotion). It's just the right amount of tanginess from the lychee, grapefruit and bergamot, wrapped in the comfort of the woody and more deeper notes. Come to think about it, the fact that they choose tonka rather than vanilla makes it make sense, it's comforting and grounding soft without going into gourmand at all. I like it on both men and women. Now the projection. It's very good. It's nothing crazy or scary but it's projecting very well, not shy at all. I could smell the whiff all the time from my travelling companion. But what I love the most is it's longevity. It's impressive. I'd say 6-10 hours on skin and clothes and a day or even more on clothes (I sprayed it on my outer and it's been days I still can smell it). I would say it's a reliable daily wear that won't ghost on you, pretty mass appealing and very easy to wear. Definitely will upgrade to full bottle soon. PS: I've smelled the og hedonist before and wasn't really impressed (too ordinary and masculine-y fresh for me).

Testing this today and this is a love for me. Let me be real, the opening is brutal, that first blast of akigalawood hits your nose like an absolute hammer, but it settles pretty quickly. After 5 minutes you get that beautiful tygar dna, but not as bright and juiciy, this keeps that same smell but its way darker and thicker. imagine vibrato but the grapefruit is a dried cocktail garnish grapefruit, and then add a beautiful Lychee note, thats what you get with this beauty. I love lychee and i was expecting it to be like a secondary thing or just to be present in the opening but its actually a Main note in here, that fruity sweetness is very present until the dry down, def exceeded my expectations. i dont think its redundant to own this if you already own any other of the tygar inspired fragrances, because this is a much darker/fruity version of that, def the most different from the bunch, blind buy worthy if you are already familiar with this dna and want a much darker, sexier twist. Summer date nights or special occasions are gonna go crazy with this. To me vibrato is still first because of how versatile and easy to like it is, but this is easily second, lovely lovely fragrance. L immensite third and Ing Ginger fourth.

I can understand why not everyone prefers Ex Nihilo The Hedonist Extrait. The scent profile isn’t the most original thing in the world, and the price is honestly very high. But if those two things aren’t dealbreakers for you, I truly think it deserves a chance because this perfume completely captivated me. For a long time, I had been searching for a fragrance that felt rich, charismatic and slightly sweet while still staying perfectly unisex. Most of the perfumes I tried either leaned too masculine or just didn’t feel as attractive as I imagined. But the moment I sprayed Hedonist Extrait for the first time, I instantly fell in love. It genuinely felt like love at first sniff. It has a truly unique character, the soft fruity sweetness in the background makes it incredibly easy and enjoyable for women to wear as well. In my opinion, it’s blended beautifully and feels like a true masterpiece. Thanks to its richness and depth, I think it works especially well in cool and cold weather. It has this charismatic, seductive, mysterious and effortlessly elegant aura that makes it feel incredibly addictive.

Signature scent worthy. Very overpriced in my opinion, even at 50ml this could be more reasonably priced ~$180-200 if stretching but I understand Ex Nihilo is top tier/exclusive. Either way, the fragrance itself is pretty magical. Nothing super novel, while being different enough that it's not redundant with other fragrances in this style, namely, Tygar and Vibrato. Juicy fruit(s) and sparkling opening supported by a darker woody backbone, again, nothing novel, but this lychee-akigalawood combo has to be the magic here. Performance is above average to me, no beast mode from the decants I've tried and even from spraying a tester on skin, etc. Good longevity and projection, which further could justify a higher price tag even accounting for the beautiful presentation and, again, exclusivity from the wear. This is rather masculine, even though lychee is typically in women's fragrances rather than men's. All year-round wearable both day and night, making it even more versatile than Vibrato and Tygar, especially Vibrato. Can be worn both casually and semi-formally.

I bought this knowing it would be similar to Vibrato and it's very similar. An absolutely amazing scent with great performance just like Vibrato. I would say the Hedonist Extrait is a bit woodier than Vibrato, but if you own one you probably don't need both. The Hedonist Extrait is versatile and can be used in any situation. You can wear it as your daily or use it for special occasions. I wore it to the office today for the first time and got three compliments from people right as I walked through the door. The projection on this is insane, granted I do like to overspray so my fragrance lasts all day. If you havent tried this fragrance DNA I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a scent they can wear daily, dress it up, or dress it down. This is an easy reach and if the price tag for the Hedonist Extrait is too much, check the discounters for Vibrato, Ingenious Ginger, or Turathi Blue. You will be able to find this DNA in a bottle in your price range and it's a must have for any collection.

Beautiful fragrance. I see many comparisons to Tygar and Vibrato. This fragrance in my opinion is much better and more sophisticated than those two, and also wearable year-round. The performance of this is sensational, so not sure about those complaints I'm seeing either. It opens really strong and projects enough to fill a room, and quiets down as the fragrance progresses. It is not in your face but it draws you in. Longevity is eternal (11+ hours on skin easily), I smell it on my clothes 2 days later. I also don't think people seem to understand that extraits are meant to last longer - not necessarily project more, but offer a more intense experience. A higher concentration of oil and less alcohol means longer evaporation time - and thus less "projection". That is why extraits can project beautifully but not "shout" as much as an eau de parfum. This is signature scent worthy - it has this glassy, "ice" component to it which creates a beautiful ambiance.

This feels like bukhoor brushed with lychee light, then projected into tomorrow. Picture a mage in a glass tower above a neon city. The grimoire is carbon fiber, its letters luminescent, pages whispering as they warm under your hands. The room hums with quiet circuitry. Smoke rises clean and dry, more polished ember than ash. On skin the profile is assertive yet shareable. Overspray and the dry smoke blooms, softened by a cool fruit sheen and that refined Ex Nihilo musk that smooths everything to a satin glide. It opens with a gleam, settles into a woody amber glow, and leaves a trail that reads elegant, modern, and a little arcane. For me this is one of the standouts of the house. If you own the Extrait you may barely reach for the original, since this takes the idea and deepens it with greater presence and a sleeker, high-gloss aura. Versatile, woody, smoky, gently sweet, sophisticated, and it performs.

i have here both the regular hedonist and the extrait and have to say this one has more depth, more layers and its more unique however they are both incredible, i will say the edp is more mass appealing and simple. personally this one smells better by like 10%, now the negatives. This one is a lot more expensive, and when it comes to using your brain the best option is the EDP. BUT if you are willing to spend alot more for a bit better than you are the perfect example of a hedonist and of course you will buy this one. If you want to get the ginger and bergamot combo and call it a day like limmensite and Ingenious Ginger get the EDP. If you want to have an improved more signature scent worthy ginger scent get this one. 9.6/10 for the extrait. Note; if you have already a ginger scent skip the EDP and get this one, if you do not have a ginger scent get EDP and save your money -both are blind buy worthy

Id say tygar with character. My favourite from this category of DNA. The lychee gives some sweetness, the woods and patch gives this a warm body that lingers the whole day while keeping that citrus ginger vibe in the air. From up close you can smell the woods very strong, but again in the air it’s perfectly smoothed out with the fruits and woods. Compared to the OG, this has body and warmth and it makes t 4 seasons perfume, while I’d ignore it during humid days or places. Longevity is great 10+ hours easily but on my skin it’s a different story: the top fades quick while on fabrics they stay 10+ hours and days on clothes in general. Skin top fades, but the metallic fruity base is still there for another 6 hours. Silage again on clothes it’s amazing skin.. starts good but fades quickly to a skin scent on my skin though..

Not too dissimilar to the original. It’s richer, denser and sweeter but the original’s profile is still very much present. I think martin777’s comment below is well observed. This definitely has an added rich fruitiness up top from the lychee that the OG doesn’t have. I really like the original so this is great for me as it does have better performance although I don’t find it nuclear or a beast, but it’s most definitely stronger. More unisex than the OG due to the sweeter elements but I’d still say it leans slightly masculine. I’ve only just got it so need to road test fully but I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of this one as it’s still quite versatile despite the slight alterations. It’s a big thumbs up, apart from the cost.

After you realize this isnt a straight tygar stunt double and judge the scent based on that it’s a 9 or 9.5/10. The thing is this is not an edt or edp so its beauty is in its sillage. I will say it sits a little closer but you need to get used to it to pick it up. I get wafts for about 8 hours and it’s stays on my shirt for a little longer but it isn’t loud. It removes the powdery aspect out of the smell alike dna (Sospiro vibrato) which is a total win for me. I love this, but the price is ridiculous, no debate there. I will enjoy my 7.5ml but I don’t think it’s worth it unless it’s at discounters for at least $100 off of the 100ml price. Then again, none of the good frags from this house are ever discounted, lets be honest.

I don’t know why anyone is comparing this to Tygar/Vibrato. The Hedonist Extrait is a completely different fragrance experience. I give my credit to Tygar where it’s due, as it’s one of my favorites freshies of all time. The Hedonist Extrait takes an entirely different approach on the opening and mid with an intoxicating take on the lychee. The lychee creates a rounded fruity backdrop that is somewhat reminiscent to the herbal shampoos of the 90’s....and I say that in the best way possible. I feel like Tygar cuts through the air like a knife and is a bit more 1 dimensional. The Hedonist Extrait is a softer approach on the fruits and has more dimension. Both full bottle worthy. Highly recommend getting your nose on this one!

Such a beautiful, well blended scent. Peak sophistication yet bright and uplifting. This is easily my new signature, my only regret is not getting the 100ml but I probably will. Scent profile is the perfect balance of fresh, fizzy grapefruit with slightly dark and clean woods, and the added lychee gives that juicy kinda sweetness. Performance is above average, maybe not BEASTLY but it lasts and projects beautifully. This is perfect to me. My top 1 rn and will remain there. And all the people comparing this to Tygar are utterly insane. To me this is so different, they only share that grapefruity kinda profile but this is done way better. This mogs literally everything.

The Hedonist Extrait is curated pleasure. Opening like a couture cocktail, ginger, bergamot, lemon and electric lychee set the tone. Bold, extravagant and playful. The style is not without substance, however, with cedarwood and vetiver providing polished and dignified assurance. Everything is well balanced and dialled up to perfection. This kisses with passion and dines like a gentlemen. The Hedonist is as alluring as it is long lasting. It lingers on both the skin and the memory. A darker version than the original, this can work as a signature day scent, but excels as a flirtatious date night scent with intention.

Wow. Just wow. Such a versatile fragrance that can be worn during all seasons. There is this mysterious darkness that contrasts the sweet bright litchi+grapefruit opening and the woodyness adds layers to it aswell. Everytime i wear it i encounter a new layer to it and its quickly become one of my absolute favorites. Performance is really good too, lasts 8+h and strong projection the first hours. Amazing! Best in this "DNA". Its hard to have a signature scent when you have a big collection but i find myself reaching for this one more and it seems like its going to be my signature scent moving forward.

OK.....so first impression, its Tygar just not as citrusy, didnt wow me, €300 price point had me a lil bit disappointed, the more i wear it the more its growing on me, the woods are slightly saw dust vibes , dry but uplifting conifer, the more i wear it the more the Lychee is taking over, a sweet fizzy sherbert vibe comes through, absolutely fantastic, smells so smooth while fizzy and a little bitter. Now i see this as its own thing, yes similar to Tygar but only in the 60/70% range! Worth the money, not really, it is nice but would be much nicer at €100.

I had the chance to test this new release today, and I definitely like it more than Hedonist in the EDP version. The opening of the fragrance is similar to the EDP version, but the base is completely different. In the extrait version I get a beautiful citrus note and a soft hint of lychee, as if it were sprinkled with cocoa. Scent sounds quite delicate! I thought the extrait would be rougher and louder. In the end, on my warm skin, this is a very pleasant and feminine composition! I really liked the fragrance, bravo Jordi Fernández 👏🏻

This is an amazing take on the tygar dna, just like everyone says, this is a sweeter darker tygar/vibrato good for all seasons. to me kind of a soft oud for greatness(akigalawood) X tygar X lychee. I give this a 9.2/10 and it is not redundant to own this and tygar/vibrato because both of these are more straight grapefruit with ginger or ambroxan, this is more like grapefruit, akigalawood, lychee and ginger. personally I get really good performance out of this, 8 hours longevity with solid-good sillage.

I haven't tried Vibrato or Tygar, both of which have been compared to this fragrance many times. Frankly, I don't think I need to get my nose on either of them as The Hedonist Extrait is perfect to me. I have smelled The Hedonist EDP and it is much lighter and airier. The added note of lychee and patchouli in the extrait really transforms and elevates it from its original form. It's long lasting and I get many whiffs of it throughout my wear. After sampling several times, I went for a full bottle.

I'm just here to add to the hype. And also agree with the lot of people who say this is similar to Tygar, as it is. The difference is like having sparkling and still water, The Hedonist Extrait being sparkling. The grapefruit is fizzier, the litchi gives it great pert-ish vibe. I know these things make it sound like it isn't a massive difference, but it's ALL the difference. I got Tygar first, and was quite let down. So The Hedonist Extrait has put these feelings right in every way.

Genuinely one of the best fragrances I’ve ever experienced — and without question the best I’ve tried within a fresh, citrus-forward DNA. The performance is absolutely nuclear for this type of DNA. I’m so glad I found it. Now all that’s left is to sell a kidney... and the 100ml bottle will be mine. 🫠💸 Edit - Still have both kidneys and somehow a bottle of Hedonist extrait 😊 Better than Tygar and Vibrato imo and doesn’t get the hype it deserve, especially the unique lychee note

Very balanced and noticeable up close. More detectable than the original The Hedonist. It's not as cake-like as Ingenious Ginger, but it has a smooth vanilla-amber-woody character. It's not as fresh and citrus-forward as Vibrato or Tygar, and not as complex or daring as Burlington, but instead strikes an excellent balance. To me, it feels like a slightly darker, more masculine, four-season take that sits somewhere between all of them.

The Hedonist Extrait from Ex Nihilo by Jordi Fernández is a lovely signature scent worthy fragrance that in my opinion elevates the "Vibrato/Tygar" DNA even though they are both iconic fragrances with a great deal of stans. I feel as though this fragrance has more depth then the aforementioned scents. If your looking for something in this scent family I highly recommend checking this one out from Ex Nihilo.

This is my new number 1. The opening is abit weird the first time, but after that it just becomes the perfect scent. Incredible smell, good longevity and generally just a perfect scent. After 5-6 hours I start to pick up the oud in it and im not normally a fan of oud. But in here it just mixes perfectly. 10/10 scent that works in all seasons and all occasions. Absolute banger.

One of the most captivating fragrances I’ve ever encountered. It exudes a classy, elegant, sophisticated yet simple aura. I’m utterly enamored with it. What I particularly love is how its scent evolves every few hours. And at the end, there’s a subtle hint of oud that lingers, creating a pleasant and unobtrusive ambiance.

Can't compare it to Tygar or Vibrato but this is one of the most versatile and nicest smelling perfumes I have in my (sample) collection. I usually don't really like akigalawood since it tends to be very sharp but it's smooth here. Still, it's almost as expensive as Tygar and Vibrato is 80 Euros cheaper.

Incredible scent, the added lychee provides a deeper and more intense experience compared to the edp version which wears brighter and upfront. - Lovely for outings at a breezy night set up. Would absolutely recommend you trying it.

I have always like ginger, cardamom, pink pepper and bergamot notes and this is superb. Paid an arm and a leg for it in Singapore, $550 for a 100ml bottle, but, have not found anything else like it yet.

If this was not so expensive its an instant buy. It had that tygar ish dna, but lychee. It is strong it is done well, it can be worn everyday, any occasion. Best fragrance ever in that dna.

Woodier, deeper and darker version of vibrato/tygar DNA. opens up very similar but drys down much more amberwoody. Something about this is just a tad better than those two. More lavish.

The more I wear this the more I love it. Still a 9.5/10 scent wise, performance 7/10, price 1/10. Sweetish spicy tygar DNA that just feels refined. The price is absolutely criminal!

The Extrait is way better than the EDP I have them both... The longevity and the notes are more calm yet stronger especially the lychee.

May be my favorite version of this DNA. Might grab a full bottle when I can. I still need to sample Vibrato first.

Nose Note #862 I'm an idiot for not checking Fragrantica before buying samples... I bought both Extrait and simple and applied them simultaneously on each hand. And I immediately thought: "Wait a second, this can't be a dupe of Tygar, can it?". Apparently, it can... And this dissapointed me beyond reason. At least Extrait has this double slightly caramalized sweetness making the difference, but DAMN IT it's only in the openning 10-20 minutes, passed that Extrait and simple are much much alike. I can't say Extrait performs much better, people are probably tricked by the marketing and the name Extrait. Extrait honestly doesn't always equal stronger performance. Extrait does initially feel denser and definately much sweeter, but don't the road it doesn't. And it definately doesn't justify being priced almost double the amount, this is absurd... The price on both and the fact that Ex Nihilo is just pulling on the famous DNA is smearing the impression on the perfume a lot for me. It is not a 1 to 1 dupe of Tygar though. Extrait feel a lot more unisex, almost leaning feminine honestly. The simple version is closer to Tygar, but it's still sweeter. Without digging into details, you are pretty much getting the same experience as with Tygar, absolutely the same. Now let's praise it a bit. Tygar is still more expensive (than the simple version), so buying Hedonist you are getting the same solid performance and wonderfully done composition, better than Theoreme Homme, Al Qiam Silver and Sceptre Bronzite (in order of quality best to worst). This smells like quality, but I have a big issue here. It's really good, but something about it, some component really itches me the wrong way, maybe it's ambroxan, I don't know. The UAE dupes don't have this particular itchiness and are actually more wearable in a way. It's like Hedonist has something about it that's just overstraining, i.e. dizzying. I guess this something is what making it longer-lasting. This is about it. Extrait is much sweeter and thicker, simple version is basically the standard Tygar DNA. Perhaps I like the simple version better. In the air the difference is less evident. Good work, too expensive. Extrait is simply out of reach. 7.5/10, at this point this DNA just feels overdone to me, but the modern legend is still a legend

Since this gets compared to Tygar/Vibrato, I decided to test my sample by spraying all 3 on different test strips. At first, I actually thought that this one was the most different of the 3 & thought this would be another one to go into the collection since I love this DNA! It is indeed a beautiful scent & so I decided to give it a full wearing to confirm the fact of me eventually buying it but.... Upon wearing this, I found it to smell 95% to 100% similar to Tygar & unfortunately, completely redundant! I could not pick out a single difference except for in the far drydown but by then, it is very close to the skin so the slight difference is negligible. Regarding performance, Id say it is about the same as Tygar too. If you own Tygar & Vibrato, which are already quite similar, there is zero need to own this one too. I would recommend sampling all 3 & determining that way, which 1 or 2 you prefer because having all 3 would be completely unnecessary. If this was the first time I encountered this DNA, it would be an instant buy but I was hoping for a different twist on the DNA, especially considering the votes on seasons suggest this being a more fall orientated version but alas, despite this frag being wonderful, I will have to pass it up due to the redundancy. Test all 3 out & choose your 1 or 2 of this DNA because the differences are miniscule! I would say Tygar & Vibrato have more differences with Vibrato being a bit more thicker & powdery & Tygar being a bit more citrusy & masculine but Hedonist Extrait, although excellent, is pretty much 95-100% Tygar leaning so I would recommend seeing which of the 2 works better on your skin! All in all, I was expecting a fresh twist on this beautiful DNA but on this occasion, I only encountered what I already have.

I’ll compare this directly to Tygar, as (spoiler) it’s still top dog! Hedonist Ext. has slightly better performance overall. In the opening, I find that the lychee ruins it. Grapefruit itself is already slightly sour, but at least it’s fresh to balance it out. Adding in the super fruity lychee makes it smell almost like a sour/spoiled fruit punch. After the 3rd hour or so, the woods come on super strong. Unfortunately on my skin the cedar gave a dense sawdust smell, and not much of the natural spiciness I like. I’m not sure how much the synthetic Akigala-whatever contributes to my dislike here. Now, once we’re in the dry-down like 8hrs in I really like it! It does give that same magical woody/spicy thing that the ambroxan in Tygar gives. It’s just missing a tinge of mineralic/metallicness for my preference. Overall this fragrance departs a bit from the Tygar DNA, but I believe they had the same idea... this one is certainly more “niche”. Steep price at retail, but I’ve seen it for around 200 used. Muuucchh better than the OG hedonist.

Purchased a sample with no prior knowledge, and the initial test-on-skin reminded me of Goldfield & Banks' Ingenious Ginger (IG). After looking into the notes and checking fragrance tok, I realized this is another interpretation of the Tygar DNA, which I haven't smelled, but IG has been recognized as a similar profile, so I'll assume that. The Hedonist Extrait (HE) smells pleasant. The main difference between this and IG is that HE has a woody backbone, while IG dries down into a vanilla base. Ultimately, I think it boils down to personal preference. If I had the budget, this would be an enjoyable fragrance for year-round wear. I've seen a lot of positive feedback about Sospiro Vibrato, and while I haven't sampled it, the more affordable price and strong performance make it an intriguing alternative.

It's very bright and has a very niche feel. I'm using vibrato and I get a similar vibe but this goes its own way because there's a slight sweetness to it. He took the tygar-vibrato DNA, blended it better and added more depth to it. Suitable for all four seasons, good performance and high price

This is to the The Hedonist what Absolu Aventus is to regular Aventus. You get the og flanker and add some sweet and spicy nuances to it. Longevity is also improved which is greatly appreciated. Only gripe I have with this is the price. $350 for what this is is ludicrous

For any occasion, mass appealing, safe blind buy. Medium projection, lasts about 8 hours. Lychee on my skin almost unnoticeable, more leaning on the citruses on the top. Price is definitely hard to justify here.

I got a travel size. This is a strong scent (I like it!). It reminds me of Kalan, a similar earthy vibe (patchouil) and sweet Akigalawood. I like it better than EDP. Perhaps leaning slightly masculine.

I’m sorry but nothing, including this has dethroned Tygar...yet..
