Maitre Céramiste

A beautiful Chypre with green and fresh notes. Maffei is a master of composition and manages to transport you into the narrative of the fragrance where green/wet, spicy/metallic, chalky/mineral notes blend divinely together. I think this will be soon discontinued (if not already). This is really sad.

Wet and green opening - galbanum, shisho plus moist soil. Then come the spices. Beautiful spiciness of pink pepper and pimento. They nicely counterbalance soft and moist clay notes adorned with iris and subtle incense. It smells of nature. It smells of peace. It smells of quiet. It stabilizes and stimulates intellectually. The base on my skin is dominated by vetiver and oakmoss both of which exhibit certain mineral aspects. Will work perfectly as a day/work scent. It inspires trust.

Once, in my previous apartment, there was a water leak that created a wet spot on the wall. The wall was painted white. The plaster started to fall apart. -- This fragrance smells exactly like that. Wet paint, plaster, wet paper. A few hours into the dry-down, there is a metallic sharpness that gets stronger and stronger. Trying to wash this off only made it worse. While the fragrance is interesting, I don't see any situation when I would like to smell like this.
