Maitre Couturier

This tailor is aromatic, fresh spicy but not in a stereotypical way. My guess is that the lavender used is Lavandula angustifolia which has a sweeter, rounder scent. And the peppery lavender note is softened by the guajac wood and the violet. I find it slightly powdery but it still shines like a steel needle because of the ozone and aldehyde. It has limited sillage but smells fantastic from few decimeters distance. As all three of EdA's perfumes, it strives upwards towards elevation and masterliness.

I blind bought a bottle of this because i loved the description talking about steam from the ironing board and lavender. I got none of those and intitially i was extremely disappointed by what i thought was an extremely dated and feminine scent. Now, however, months later, i am starting to appreciate and reevaluate this scent. Suddenly i understand the references and yes, it is still rather feminine leaning but ive decided that i do not care about that. What i get now is a very promeinent juicy violet sweetened by the birch. The longevity is wonderful and projection and sillage is well above average. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a modern, high performing violet scent.

It's light and intimate, sits close to the skin and feels like a super nice fragrance caught in the fabric of a cashmere scarf. Like when one cannot quite tell which one it was,because it was sprayed on several days ago, but wearing the scarf feels luxurious. The scent is really airy. Laurels play an interesting part here. Without it the composition could just dissolve and fly away, but laurels keep it all together and ground the mix. A very pleasurable perfume to wear!

Love this fragrance for some reason. It is a warm powdery and gourmand smell. The lavender is not at all overpowered and though not listed I detect some vanilla and/or patchouli. Scent: 8/10 Longevity: 8/10 Sillage: 8/10 Cost ratio: 5/10 Overall: 7.25/10 Not a frag for everyone. Lovely scent but unfortunately not at this price.

Reading the perfume house’s description and the reviews, I thought this must be my thing. But unfortunately not: the heavy powder ruins it for me. At first spray I thought: this smells high-end! There are some notes in it that I recognize from Commodity Book (the dill everyone is referring to there) and I think I smell some sandalwood too. But the powder is so overpowering, it makes it an old lady scent for me and gives me a headache. I was hoping for fresh linen, but got old lady instead. I think I should avoid perfumes that are high in powder and aromatic notes. People who like this might want to try Atelier Vesper, a small perfume house which I dislike for the same reason.
