Legacy

This was a blind buy, based on how much I've been enjoying the 1994 eau de toilette by Faconnable, which deserves a place in fragrance history as a hidden gem / cult classic of the 1990s. "Legacy" is a masterful woody / citrus creation, very well blended and expertly balanced. It's so classy and refined that it's hard to believe the price it's selling for. This is incredibly good value for such a wonderful scent. It has to be mentioned that "Legacy" smells very similar to Bleu de Chanel. A few reviewers on Fragrantica have commented how one of Faconnable's previous releases ("Riviera") smells like BdC. Now, "Riviera" does indeed smell a bit similar to BdC but it takes a different direction. On the other hand, "Legacy" will have you think that creating something that smells like BdC was the very intention. Of course, there are no complaints for getting something of such high quality that smells like BdC at a price like this. But I also have to say that a part of me is a bit disappointed that the scent of "Legacy" is not more original.

Always thought Facconable boxed above its weight (translate that to 'price') and this is no exception. To my nose it has some similarities to Trussardi Riflesso albeit with a far earthier undertone to it. But there is a carnation note that they both share and perhaps a simply 'Italian' woodsy and citrus signature to the blends. I really like it though and suspect that might even grow to a love. Definitely worth a purchase.

Soft relaxing scent. Citrus and wood. Really good, I recommend. And the price is also really good.

Let's start off by saying that, IMHO, this is not at all similar to BDC. I have tried all three incarnations of BDC. As a whole, they have much brighter, thinner citruses, a clean/slightly cold feel, and a certain freshness, which is offset by woods, incense or other accords depending on the version. Faconnable Legacy is quite different. The citruses are rounded, not bright. And the main accord is a sweet, smooth orange blossom or possibly a sweetened sage over amber, because that cotton candy/candy apple underlies this whole fragrance. When the heart comes along, some soft herbals (geranium, touch of pepper) and the nagarmotha provide a bit of counterpoint, but these are low in the mix and really only noticeable as a whole, not by components. The nagarmotha is felt (on the skin, in the eyes) more than smelled. The base is more or less a continuation of the heart, with the welcome addition of a light patchouli. All of this doesn't mean that this isn't a nice fragrance. It actually is, and the quality is very good for $20. So, if you like neroli fragrances that will work in any temperatures other than high summer, that are good for casual, date or office wear, this is a nice easy reach. It is similar to Ra'ed Silver, and would appeal to the same folks who like Fakhar Black and Layton/Detour Noir. Definitely unisex, as this would also smell great on women, and on the youthful side (target probably 30 years old or less). Solid product from a hidden gem house. But if you are looking for a BDC clone, stick with Missoni Pour Homme.

I don't really know which version of Bleu by Chanel @dirtyenglish smelled, but I think maybe it was the Covid19 Edition. It has nothing to do with BDC! If you want something very similar to BDC, buy Missoni Parfum. I can't say this is an original scent because it has a lot of similarities to 90s fragrances, but I don't think it's an attempt to clone another fragrance. Very good quality/price. I think almost everyone can buy it blindly without risk.
