Baba Yaga

this scent makes me stupid. the moment i open the bottle, i feel embarassingly like a dog rolling in something questionable off the side of the path. there's something powerfully addictive here that just has me rubbing my face shamelessly all over whatever surface this perfume is on to soak up more of it. it is INCREDIBLY potent, only takes the tiniest drop, and even then, it lasts for ages. what starts off smelling very incense-y and smoky (like a southeast asian import store) dries down into layers of rich filthy musk. when i've applied too much, it almost veers into cat piss territory, but in moderation, i get freshly oiled leathers, the lanolin of a sheepskin rug, the sweat-and-hay reek of horse tack. after a few hours, it begins to soften into a more polished woody scent, and the smoke creeps back in like a candle snuffed out. even morning after i wear this, there's a faint heat to the skin like a coal left smouldering in the hearth. it doesn't turn sugary or powdery on my skin, it stays bitter and dark and lavish. instant fav. UPDATE: after wearing baba yaga more over time, i've noticed a subtle sweetness to it. it's juicy, but still not in a sticky gourmand way, more like drinking a concoction of elderberry syrup & steeped herbs to kick a cold, a bitter earthy sweetness that makes you salivate a little bit.

Took me completely by surprise!!! I bought this sample not fully sure if I'd like it, but my blind faith in Fantôme's ability to make their fragrances perfectly match their descriptions has once again pulled through. I'm not sure how but I can literally smell Baba Yaga's chicken hut on my wrist right now. A very unique kind of musk that feels like you're somewhere messy but comfortable, like a maximalist room filled with antique trinkets found in the woods. I lived in an old woman's house in rural St. Petersburg for a couple months when I was younger and this fragrance is really reminding me of that memory. I'm almost blanking on writing a review right now because if I could I'd just type the description already written for it. It's very intense at the start so I was worried it'd be the type of fragrance you love but can't really wear, but after a short while it calms down and turns into a nice warm/sweet musk that can work just about anywhere. Really really beautiful and intimate

Absolutely obsessed with this. I’ve been searching for the perfect realistic incense scent that isn’t super synthetic or headache-inducing, and this is it. It’s delicious and spicy, smoky, incensey, resinous, just so yummy. Like the inside of your favorite old school metaphysical store that isn’t just fakey hippie gentrified vibes. Powerful, old, a hint of sweetness, just so endlessly good. This is my new favorite fragrance.

i really like this fragrance. it’s my go to for every day. on my skin it smells a lot like cola— but a little medicinal, which i didn’t really expect, however, i really like it! i like pairing it with more incense-y smells to create the kind of hag with an apothecary vibe i strive for. :) will totally be buying a larger once once my roller runs out.

This is one of my favorites from the line. This is an earthy musk. Think the clean alcove in the back of a spice shop - deep, woody, almost musty (in a great way!) I love the rich and warm feeling this gives while also being super wearable. *I have the perfume oil

powerful and gorgeous- this is the scent that made me really love animalics. i smell just like a super sexy old lady when i wear it and that's just the way i want it.

This scent was so good. I again felt like a sexy little witch in a cabin And the cherry cola smell is far less noticeable on skin than on a test paper

No white, cologney musks here! Generally I’m a musk hater. My first experience with musk was with an incredible dark musk (alas, it’s been too long to remember what fragrance) and ever since then musks have been slapping me in the face, much too sharp and overwhelming for my nose (and I! amp! them! like! mad!!!). Baba Yaga was a sample buy and a risky one but wow has it paid off. The warmth in this scent balances any sharpness that tries to jump out of the perfume. Gotta give this one a few more wears and more time to be sure the musk stays the kind of alluring, deep aroma I’m looking for but wow, I’m a major fan so far.

When I first put it on, my immediate reaction was “whoa! It smells JUST like the incense shop down the street!” With STRONG woody and smoke notes when wet. Upon drying however, first the cardamom took the lead, before mellowing out into what I can only describe as a wet forest floor in autumn, and I can definitely see a house with a fence made of bones a few yards away. The only thing a bit disappointing to me is that I never really picked up on a meaty or dried animal scent, but that might be for the best.

this scent is beautiful and mysterious. it smells primarily of incense to me. it gives the image of a hot witch. this does starts to smell like cherry cola on my skin. i don't find this to be a bad thing, but something to consider if that would be offputting to you.

Black and red musk, a smoldering cauldron, cracked bone, cardamom, hanging animal skins, burning mugwort. I’ll be real: I hated this at the jump. When wet, it’s very animatic and tangy. To me, it smelled like roadkill. However, that tang mellows upon drying, and the sweet, earthy, spicy notes begin to take center stage. It’s quite lovely; I keep sniffing my arm. This is definitely an ethereal—dare I say witchy—autumnal scent. It’s warm and sensual; bewitching and rather odd. To me, this scent is giving boreal mystique; a sodden, foggy wood. The last of the fiery leaves clinging to their branches as winter stalks closer. Divination amid the trees. It truly lives up to its description. This is what I wished Nosferatu by Heretic would’ve been. I love how it continues to change on the skin through the day. Overall, I’d say this scent is more compelling than beautiful, but still wearable. Great if you want to smell like a green witch that people lust for and fear in equal measure.

When I first put this on I was alarmed and thought I could absolutely not leave the house because I smelled distinctly of roadkill. There was that kind of sour dead-body-in-the-sun smell for like ten minutes, and then it actually settled in and warmed with my skin and it just has the most fantastic spiced musky scent. I got it as a sample and am fiending for more.

Baba Yaga by Fantôme is, in my opinion, the ultimate true forest with scent. This is not a cutesy witchy fragrance. Baba Yaga is animalic and dirty, yet surprisingly wearable. It has a smokiness to it that has a slightly sweet, powdery dry down. It’s a sexy, feral fragrance. Five stars for me.

I really like this. Herbal spice, musk, and steam. I think it smells like a sexy older woman who wears antique furs--but I might have weird tastes. I don't get any cola smell from this. I don't think that it suits me but it'd enjoy smelling it on a lover.

Smells very nostalgic to me, like a Party City at Halloween time in my childhood. I wear this for the nostalgia only and get no compliments.
