Firebird

It smells exactly like all of the listed notes. Personally, it perfectly fits how I'd imagine a golden phoenix to smell like. At first the smoke/fire notes are the most apparent, but after it settles down it has a very golden apple/orange scent. Also, the packaging when I ordered the sample pack this came in was very well made and it has a beautiful bottle design. You can tell Fantôme works very hard to make the visual style of the brand fit the themes of their fragrances. Firebird feels very royal, like I'm in a fantasy book with castles and dragons. I can't think of too many situations this fragrance would work well in besides a renaissance faire, but I'm still a huge fan!

This is such a sultry, sexy and spicy scent. Like a night out with freinds somewhere new and wild. It reminds me of the times before I was disabled when I was out in the wilderness with school and freinds making fires and cooking bread. The smell of a fire is always such a nostalgic and pleasant smell to me so this scent is intoxicating to me. I absolutely adore it for its beautiful transformation from orange to that smoke and fire. Sadly I didn't quite catch the apple, and she faded quickly but she's an absolute delight, I suggest this scent

Now I do like this, but more for nostalgic purpose rather than actually wearing it out a lot. The first note that really enters my senses is the whiskey, then is cools down into a warm spicy apple. I was transported to my teen/young adult years. Every year in the autumn my childhood neighborhood throws a block party called the "apple butter party". A huge cauldron of apple butter would be bubbling over a roaring fire, and people would drink whiskey and eat home cooked food late into the night. This is a very nice memory, and I liked that there is a scent that reminds me of this annual party.

I got this as an extra with other samples I ordered. Firebird reminds me of a New Age-y shop. Crystals, incense, spices, colorful clothing. I'm not really getting smoke from it, but it does remind me of unlit incense. The cloves and orange shine through. Really not my kind of scent, but it is very nice. I think of the few fragrances I've tried from Fantôme this feels the most well-rounded. I would definitely enjoy it on someone else. Makes me think of a cool hippie lady.

Smoky bubblegum. This is a very particular fragrance and I can appreciate the artistry. The smoky accords are beautiful, but the fruity/sweet notes just read as bubblegum to me. Strangely like Deja Vu from Teo Cabanel? Not super wearable for me, but a fun fragrance to rotate in for some pizzazz. I own the perfume oil.

Ok, this one was weird and disappointing. I got the Slavic fairy tale sample set and this one is absolutely my least favorite so far, which was such a trip because all the notes are right up my alley and I expected to love it. I don’t get ANY smoke or spice, or actually anything except dentists office. This smells exactly like bubblegum fluoride and I cannot get past that into anything else. Super weird. I am loving Fantome and I have so much respect for them, but this one is really something else.

This is so close to being a win for me. The clove and saffron play together beautifully, but as I have often found to be the case, citrus just does not play nice with my skin. I would have loved to get more smoke, and perhaps a bit of something animalic. But the airyness of the saffron combined with the soot and orange creates something quite pungent. It reads as medicinal and astringent, like a puddle of very spicy mouthwash evaporating off a floor that's been smothered in orange disinfectant. Ultimately, that astringent quality which underlies this composition makes it unpleasant for me.

the apple comes on very strong, with an alcohol scent that almost reminds me of honey whiskey? then it settles to clove and saffron, kind of creates a bubblegum effect, but more mature. i'm not getting ANY smoke notes unfortunately, but it's pleasant and very autumnal and not overbearing after that alcohol note mellows out. if i was smelling it out in the wild i'd think it was an apple cider candle.
