Giardino dell'Iris

#1596 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant from scentsplit.com. It's hard to disappoint me with a note combination like this. For me, iris and myrrh in combination is an addiction. This scent verges on identical to Aqua di Noto "Stizzi d'Amore" and just as hard to find here in the US, both running $200 and up. If like me, you're a fan of scents like Amouage "Interlude Black Iris", you'll like this, though it's not as potent and long-lasting. As some have already pointed out, you can't really tell how this one smells until it's on your skin, and for me the iris started to fade out pretty quickly, even though the scent hangs in there past lunch. This is attractive stuff that I would consider date wear only for men. I wouldn't wear this as day wear or in a suit and tie office. Women could wear it anytime. The silage isn't overwhelming, but the scent could be annoying first thing in the morning in close spaces like carpools, elevators, small offices. This will definitely clash with their almond lattes. But at this price I would say just get the Amouage "Interlude Black Iris." It's more long-lasting and interesting in the dry down.

Its name comes from the Greeks who called it this way due to the color of its petals, inspired by Iris, messenger of the gods and godness of the rainbow. And here Iris is the absolute protagonist: after a short and fresh opening, it becomes full-bodied, full of personality, with myrrh and ambergris which enhance it even more. Terribly, madly in love. The first spritz and smell of the bottle was off putting but the second it touched my skin it became absolute magic. It has such a romantic, royal set of layers of hazy powder. The iris and myrrh are genius together, velvety and creamy. There is definitely sweetness here but not cloying or childish, you'd never smell this in a drug store or sephora. The very first perfume to give me shivers, absolutely hitting all the right sensors in my nose! There is a subtle mineral, wet stone sensation about it too which is really unusual.
