Hyle

Hyle is a scent about the ocean - the sea itself; the iodine, salty, ozone spray. It's quite an unusual scent from this perspective. Starts off with a mega blast of refreshing citrus lemon, but as it dries down you become aware of the scent of standing on a pier overlooking the north sea on a very windy day! The scent of the salty water blowing in the breeze around you. There is a gentle waft of ginger inside all of this which tends to come and go. The musk in this scent takes a back seat ... but it is there which gives the ocean a grimy, untamed aspect! I found this very interesting and very masculine - but here is the twist, I do think a woman could actually wear this; it would suit a very strong woman who wants to be very different to other women in who she is and how she stands for herself. This is definitely a linear fragrance rather than a complex one. So don't go looking for too many notes! So men, if you have been looking for a true sea-breeze of a cologne and not the fruity, coconut, tropical sea-breeze; then this is definitely for you. I'm not sure what I would make of a man wearing this but it is most certainly interesting! Silage is good and it does last.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this scent. Ginger, lavender and myrtle combine with aquatic notes to make this a light, fresh clean perfume. This makes a refreshing splash cologne on hot bothered days. I've never been disappointed by Farmacia SS Annuziata's offerings and even though this category of fragrance (aquatic, fresh, aromatic) is my lowest priority, I will happily spritz this around my body or room. Brings to mind the wind swept chalk cliffs of the Dover coastline. Don't expect it to last though.

I was expecting something far more complex from this fragrance. Once the first blast of citrus top notes were gone, however, all I could smell was iodine. Iodine and a bit of salt, and that's it. This did make it a passable replication of the smell of salt water, but not a very interesting one. Nor even a *terribly* realistic one, really: yes, the ocean does smell like iodine, but not quite *that* much like iodine! Only once the dry-down came, hours later, could I detect anything but the strong iodine smell. I got a bit of dusty patchouli, a bit of musk, a faint trace of ozone. Mostly, though? Iodine. Perhaps I'm just super-sensitive to myrtle (which I believe is what accounts for that iodine smell here), but it didn't make for a very interesting olfactory experience. I was hoping for something far more complex, and far less linear. Profumum's Acqua di Sale did this much better.

This perfume costs hundreds of euros when in reality it is worth only a few decades.It is called revolutionary fragrance when in reality the same notes are present in other thousands of fragrances.What is cool nobody excludes it but to say that it is special seems a little exaggerated . Overrated fragrance!

Hyle is obviously a classy scent, it has a real air of sophistication and is a fragrance of high quality. However, taste wise this is not my thing due to the salty aquatic note and the way it seems to have curdled with the creaminess. The opening and throughout there's a nice lemony note which works well with the Calone type salty sea breeze accord which is handled more gently than something like Invictus or Eros but still a bit weird. What surprises me is the main and last (but by no means least) note myrtle...isn't listed here? it's huge throughout giving a moisturiser sort of vibe. In many ways this is a great mixture of those three main elements despite me not really liking it but I have to way up whether I'd wear it or not and I simply wouldn't but there's nothing wrong here, it's a fresh, clean summery fragrance that some will love. That myrtle holds the citrus for a long time like neroli or white blossoms do and as a result the longevity is very good. Worth a try but not for me.
