Red Flag

The anticipation I had for this scent was supreme and I wasn't disappointed! I was kindly sent this by Fascent and due to the fact it has literally just launched, I had no other opinions to set expectations by... To me, there's such an interesting depth to it, a richness and sensuality but along with that a vibrancy a true naturalistic spice, both a zingy bite and a smoky warmth, balanced in absolute harmony. It's extremely different to all of the other scents in the Fascent collection and a truly striking addition. With the rise of Neo gourmands and savoury gourmands as we get into 2026, I think this will be a really prominent scent on the niche scene! *I'll return to this review when I have had more time with it but on immediate first impressions, I really do enjoy it - full first impressions review on my instagram @thfragrancevault

I completely miss judged this perfume when I firstly read its notes, thinking that I won't like it at all. However, it turned out to be quite the opposite. It's a very lovely colder season perfume, completely unisex. To me it smells like a spicy woody, with a very present cardamom that has this almost nostalgic feeling given by the middle notes.

Love the cardamom and beetroot. This reminds me so much of Liam Gray with a stronger iris note. It's more well-balanced than Liam (which I love, btw), and the incense and palo santo make it a little more feminine-leaning and complex, to my nose. Really love this one- if you already have Liam, though, I don't know if you need both (?)

Beetroot note is very prominent in initial blast, minutes after spraying it dissipates. This perfume generally sits close to skin. Very warm and powdery to my nose. Balsamic, yes... spicy, not so much. Doesn't last very long sadly and doesn't project a lot either. Fall and winter scent for me

A very cool beetroot fragrance! Very earthy and clean right out the gate. Drys down to a warm beet root and tonka bean the cardamom and palo santo stay present from start to finish. For like 78$ it’s a solid deal. Definitely unisex and quite unique. Makes me want borscht

I really love the smell of this! So earthy with the beetroot being quite prominent on me, but wish it lasted longer. Not sure if the poor longevity allows for me to want a full size but the smell is so addictive I'm leaning towards yes

A warm and cocooning iris and cardamom perfume. Unisex for sure, perfect for rainy days. the spicy part is not so strong and the iris makes it elegant. Same vibe of Gris Charnel, but here with iris.

Smell like green soil and sweet flowers, petrichor, spicy cardamom

Gorgeous earthy iris, feel free to overspray, creamy

I can't describe how this smells but the opening reminded me of White Rice by d'annam. This feels more up my alley but it doesn't click for me yet but I think it eventually will

Does indeed smell a bit like gris charnel. With some beets in the opening.. cardemom and iris.. i realllyy like this.

i do not have a ton to say about this one. i love beets, which is exactly why i wanted to sample it in the first place and i have to give it credit because it absolutely does smell like beets! it is surprisingly photorealistic. not beet-inspired, not beet-adjacent, just beets. i actually found that really impressive as i sat with it though, i realized it is not necessarily a scent i want to smell like. wearing it feels like i have spent the entire day out in the garden harvesting beets and only beets. which honestly might be a selling point for some people! for me, this was more of an experience than a fragrance i would reach for. i really enjoyed sampling it and appreciating what it was trying to do, even if it is not something i would personally wear.

at a distance, this fragrance reads as a bright woody citrus, then, as you get closer to the skin it gets more and more earthy. ultimately, the deep, spiced notes work to make a grounding and inoffensive scent.

I get zero beetroot, palo santo, or patchouli, which is disappointing. It’s all cardamom, iris, and tonka to me— clearly inspired by Gris Charnel.

I wanted to test this as part of my exploration of fragrances with beetroot notes, even though I don't particularly resonate with the brand or the name. This is a pleasant warm woody scent with aromatic undertones. It opens with a spicy blend, in which the sweet, earthy beetroot is noticeable. Iris lends its quiet character, alongside contemplative incense, on a creamy, woody, earthy base. It's dry and softly sweet, with a touch of powderiness. The composition feels very comforting, not reflecting the warning implied by its name at all. Or is the comfort a false allure? The only thing I dislike is the presence of amberwoody synthetics in the base, which tend to be a turn-off for me. They aren't overdone or anything, I'm just sensitive to them, and that makes the fragrance smell less natural to my nose.

Gris/Liam and Annam's White Rice are having a baby. A woody cardamom earthy fragrance mixed with an almost savoury iris. Red Flag is less sweet/creamy/heavy than Gris/Liam. The iris helps adding some light and airy quality to the scent. Despite being labeled as spicy perfume, the spices here are well blended, not too loud. After the opening it becomes a bright iris perfume, with a muted spicy base. A more feminine and balanced version of Gris' profile.

Red flag - so it smells like Dior sauvage?
