Patchouli in Love

I have a sample of this fragrance. This smells amazing! I’m not normally a patchouli person, but this scent makes me wonder if I’m missing out. Looking to purchase a full size bottle. I’ve found you can purchase this on ScentSplit.com if anyone is interested.

Not at all what I was expecting. Is it tobacco? If you’ve ever smelled a Cigarillo after the tobacco has been dumped out. This smells like a Game Green (for all my smokers). Very interesting scent. Not for me

Patchouli In Love by niche Italian house Federico Cantelli is very interesting take on patchouli which is one of my favourite notes in perfumery. I sprayed this for the first time from the little 2ml sample and my partner (who rarely remarks on fragrances is notoriously hard to please in terms of what she likes) told me she thought it smells like "timeless, old money" and that she really enjoys it. It is like a very good Italian restaurant where they do one ingredient three ways on the same plate. Patchouli In Love is a very considered study on patchouli served three ways, if that makes sense. We do not miss any leather or suede here; the whole composition feels very deliberate and well-judged but also pleasingly distinct from the mainstream. The first patchouli is in the top, merged with some citrus and cinnamon to push this fresher than you think it is when it first sprays. You absolutely do need to try this on skin as it will make very little sense on a tester strip. In the heart we see the next kind of patchouli, indulging its chocolatey side pushed into an aromatic direction with a really lovely clary sage and a fresh and not-powdery iris. Then there is a very restrained, polite amber and vanillic base too that pushes this (to my nose) in the direction of Sidr honey from Yemen for the third taste of patchouli. How would I wear this? Carefully. It is strong. There is that dark honey and a bit of a white wine feel to it that disappears as it dries. The drydown pushes out the dark honey stickiness from the base and the floral iris gets a lot stronger. I wasnt fully enamoured with this until about an hour into it. It is nice but it goes very, very nice once it dries. You get almost no florals in the opening but it dries down very floral. Patchouli In Love would be a magnificent office wearer because two sprays is all you need and the sillage is not very challenging. It has a super refined, very confident niche feel that my partner was right on the money about. It is the sort of thing the very wealthy wear. You have to seriously know your fragrances to get this one. It is the sort of niche bottle where you want people to ask you what you are wearing because they probably haven't heard of it. I am not into gatekeeping but I can see people gatekeeping this as it is excellent. Three Word Summary - Patchouli Three Ways Layering combination - over the top of Eau de Ombre Leather by Tom Ford. Outfit suggestion - You can wear this smart casual or formal during the day. Think formal white shirt but with chino shorts and a pair of suede moccasin slip ons, Wayfarer style sunglasses. Scent - 7/10 Sillage - 8/10 Drydown - 10/10 Bottle/packaging - 7/10 Performance - 9/10 41/50
