Oud Balsam

I got serious problem, how i tested this i wanna go only this direction, now when im testing regular designer fragrances they feel so synthetic. Opening is like cherry flavor, so my friend in office asked “what did you ate today?, smells nice”.Really love the smell of almost like dark “chocolate”, smell of infused tobacco leafs, on top of them are appearing different resins, some of them almost in burnt on charcoal like quality, some of them fresh non-burnt quality. The first hours are sweet, but not sweet in like gourmand quality, sweet like fresh resins, like myrrh for example, like syrup from dates. But it can be also sweet not like resins, maybe more like dry red raisins, maybe is provides by cambodian oud together with resins. From the sweetnes is heading toward to direction of more subtle leathery/oud atmosphere, ending is in light smokey/nutty way sometimes. I dont get any animalic vibes from oud. I got 6-8 hours in good projection, now im running 13th hour and still feel it like skin scent. Im running out of my sample, for this reason, i feel sorry to go to the shower and get rid of this wonderful scent. This is best perfume so far i tested in 2023! Feel so high and alive with it! It have definitely aromaterapeutic effects on your mood. (The oud and high quality natural ingredients have positive effect on your mind, i feel good and happy with it, now i know why i stopped to smoke weed and started to “sniff” fragrances”). This one is much better than Tabac Dore, they are somehow similar, but will say Tabac dore is more about boozy vanilla and Tolu balsam and it feeled somehow more synthetic than oud balsam ( i own attar version of tabac dore ), oud balsam is more about resins & oud. One more update: in my eastern europe slav connotation it reminds me cherry compot, its little bit sour and sweet. It triggers me this kind of memories, when i was child and was eating this kind of cold compot during hot summer days, from this point of view i will say this fragrance is also suitable for summer. The oud is somehow similar to Indonesian Oud perfume from Areej le Dore, but Oud Balsam contain resins and tobacco. I sneeze every single time when i spray it, i love the opening, first minute is so stunning, its like you opened long time closed basement.

Sweet tobacco and oud. very smooth and deep.Getting a lot of vanilla/tonka/nutty/cacoa sweetness not listed. When I was new and naive to modern perfumery I was expecting something like this when i first smelled TF Tobacco Vanille. Boy I was disappointed. Now when I have smelled a lot I cannot really pony up the price they ask for this. While this is still 100x better than tobacco vanille, there is too sweet for me and there is so much other better ones from houses like Bortnikoff, Prin and Areeje le dore.

I own an early bottle of Tabac Dore and have tested it side-by-side with Oud Balsam. It is true that they are very similar, especially on paper. On skin, they are more nuanced and I find Oud Balsam to be slightly more dense and the better performer. Oud Balsam is extremely smooth and crowd pleasingly wearable. There is nothing challenging about this fragrance which is where my problem lies. I wish it contained more oud and more dirt. I have huge respect for both the perfumers but I was left a touch disappointed by the three new releases, particularly considering the price point. This one is my favourite of the three.

Dark, sweet, nutty chocolate and toffee combo over a pronounced woody oud (oud is nice and easy to recognize). No funk here and overall good composition, but it gives me a feeling that its missing a final touch, primarily because all notes are smelling too smooth (resins fault) and a little overblended. It is a variation on the AdN chocolate base, but with a twist. Good longevity, comfortable projection. Nice but could be better.

Oud, amber and a tiny bit of chocolate, not as heavy or animalic as I thought it would be which is nice, very light though, I understand the price and the quality that goes into and is in this fragrance but I personally feel that there is way better chocolate scents in term of smell on the market.
