Sunrise and Set

I am quite a newbie in this genre of perfumes, in the past I tried several oud perfumes and was disappointed, so I decided to try the discovery set of this brand and I must say that sunrise and set is something different from what I have been used to. The introduction of the perfume starts in quite funky way (excuse me for using word funk, i didnt tried real funky oud yet), there is bitter orange, but I also feel a bitter aromaticity colored by the acidity of lemon (i would partially compare the acidity to the smell of fermented fruit or sourdough in goodway), second test gave me nuances of good acidic coffee for 2 minutes. From the other point of view, combination of citruses and oud somehow reminds me barnyard atmosphere same as you can find in indian oud, but in soft way. I feel the coolness of plasticine or of modeling clay, the acidity and bitterness slowly recede into the background and I can smell the earthy clay placed on an old varnished wooden table, in which a fresh tone begins to appear over time. Earthy clay has sometimes almost vintage powdery vibe from oris root. I didn’t tried Mitti Attar yet, but what i know from descriptions, this earthy smell can be very similar to mitti, smell of dry earth.The transition from bitter opening to the fresh ending is very smooth. But i don’t achieve fresh ending everytime, sometimes is ending in earthyway. I would say that the perfume flow above the skin and create personal bubble for you,does not radiate so strongly, its duration was something like 5-8 hours in good projection, then is continuing from 8 to 12 hours more like skin scent. Paradoxically, the scent seems very natural smelling to me, as if I had known it for a very long time, and yet new, as if I had never smelled it before. This one will be probably oud for the summer temperatures. My dog is never curious what perfume im wearing, but in this case he looks quite interested what i have on myself. Many perfumes which are using combination of citruses and oud smells to my nose like cheap cleaning products, this is not the case, really nice combination but weird at the same time.

Very nice smelling and non challenging fragrance.Oud is muted or in less concentration.Something you can wear all year around and it won’t offend anyone.Mainly citrus with Orris and cardomom gives a sophisticated feeling and it’s also very natural smelling.

Boring...Citrus opening, then cedar and a bit of oud. These guys can do so much better...

This is an easy to wear, cologne style perfume that smells of citruces and orris, with a light touch of patchouli that is realised as a gentle smoke. Easy to wear, elegant and happy perfume even if a bit simplistic. Would be a good value at about $90. Projection is close to skin, longevity is about 5-6 hrs.

the weirdest citrus scent.. i think its the indian oud and maybe orris and wood forming this bizarre, fermented facet. its interesting to smell for a while but has a clay and chalk quality, its more like a citrus+herb ingredient for cooking rather than a finished perfume
