Furiosa

I bought Furiosa mainly because Luca Turin's review piqued my interest. I thought, why not; this one might become a collector's item since it has been in production for only one year and all Fendi fragrances are discontinued, and the note pyramid seemed quite good. The first time I smelled it, my first thought was - oh no. It features the same opening as many of its contemporaries: Fruity, bright pink pepper, underlined by the citrusy character of bergamot. I'm not a real fan of the opening since it's quite powerful and fruity notes don't always enamor me. The opening persists for about 15 minutes and then the florals start to show up. Gardenia takes the main stage, showing off with her radiance and slight creaminess; at the same time, the jasmine and stock act as background singers; jasmine providing the sweetness and the stock casts a slight, spicy veil over the composition. The gardenia starts to mellow out , retaining it's creamy facet, and melts together with the jasmine and stock. Amber appears and gives the composition it's warm, plushy character. Guaiac wood provides a woody tinge and I can also detect a slight whisper of incense. The drydown is creamy amber, lightly spiced and complemented with some powder. I can still smell the gardenia/jasmine every now and then, though. Sillage is huge in the beginning and is quite powerful during Furiosa's development. It's longevity is also great. The whole composition seemed vaguely similar to something I had smelled before, and as two reviewers aforementioned, Furiosa has some connection to Black Orchid, or rather it's flanker - Voile de Fleur. Furiosa is Voile de Fleur's sister; they're pretty much alike in composition, being both luminous compositions, except Furiosa is a bit more one-dimensional: it misses the brightness of the ylang ylang/cassis and the sweetness of the plum. However, Furiosa consists of VdF best aspects; it's just a sepia, amber tinged version of the latter. All in all, Furiosa is nothing ground-breaking, but it is very pretty and very well balanced. It is lush and elegant. Even though the florals and amber are quite sweet, it isn't toothachingly so. It would have benefited from a bit more guaiac wood and incense, though. Regarding Luca Turin's comment on Furiosa being a plushy masculine; I think most men would still find it too feminine in the opening and middle stages. However, the drydown is firmly unisex. Is it worth buying against huge prices, simply because of it's discontinuation? To be honest, I'd say no, but I like it *a lot* better than most recent launches. I'm sad to see it disappear of the shelves so fast. So if you're into white floral centred perfumes with a warm, woody background, I'd say, give Furiosa a try.

I am a Fendi fanatic. For an 80's baby pouring over Vogue magazines, the Fendi brand exuded the powerhouse, severe shoulder pad, Delorean, red leather-gloved, "greed is good" feel of the '80s. Unlike its American, French, and English brand peers, the Italian fashion house made that mix of coke-fueled hedonism more earthy? Human? To me, Fendi feels like decadent fabrics, draped over a generous flesh decorated with large semi-precious stones set in 18k gold... a rosary disappearing into ample cleavage. With the discontinuation of the Fendi scents, any perfume or cologne I come across I am buying. No questions asked and no hesitation. Fendi Furiosa was no different; as soon as I saw the gold honey comb bottle I knew it had to be mine. The opening peppery citrusy blast melds perfectly into the wallflower and gardenia. I do not pick up the jasmine, but I rarely do unless it's the prominent note. The dry down to the incense and amber combination is fist-bitingly sexy. When I wear it, I feel like going to an Italian restaurant, with outdoor seating, ridiculously overdressed in a St Johns Knit tweed pantsuit with large hanging expensive baubles on all my extremities, eating rich pasta dishes and drinking decadent pinot noirs, while punctuating my conversation heavily with my hands. Fendi Furiosa smells fabulously flamboyant. It has an arm's length projection on me, and the sillage is decent. It lasts a good 4-6 hours for me. I love it.

Initially i get a sour citrusy blast of pink pepper but it's not unpleasant. The florals keep it from going into the sharp or bitter territory. I get mostly pink pepper with a woody backdrop, with the florals pulling it into feminine territory ever so slightly. As the pepper fades you're left with some spicy white florals. Someone else painted the mental image of a businesswoman wearing leather under her business casual clothes and i'd say that imagery is spot-on. I think this one seems also quite wearable year-round. It doesn't feel heavy enough to be cloying in hotter weather, i could be wrong though. I think even a man could rock this if they were okay with the floral element. It's not sugary sweet by any means. This one is a love for me. I think once the initial pink pepper overdose subsides after 20 minutes it becomes pretty mass pleasing. I like a daring perfume that pushes the boundaries of convention a bit (which many designer fragrances seem hesitant to do, lest they become too challenging to wear) and this one did not disappoint. Sad to see this one discontinued. Glad i got a bottle while i could, it's beautiful.

This is absolutely amazing and massively underrated, what a gem! I blind bought it out of curiosity and after reading some reviews but still had no real idea what to expect. One word stuck in my mind reading those reviews: chameleon! It is true! This is very unusual scent, it reveals itself in stages. Yet, it is somehow familiar to me-was it popular at some point?! I don't know. But it feels classic and even a bit retro sometimes, BUT at the same time modern and not dated. Very weird! Spicy, hot spicy, floral, smoky, woody.... it is all of this but very unusual combo. It feminine, assertive, daring, loud and spicy in the beginning and very beautifuly floral at the drydown. If this had a niche brand name on, I am sure it would have gotten tons of raving reviews, indeed it's a niche quality here that you are getting for a laughable price. As it is discontinued, the price will probably go up and I would grab a back up bottle and would advice any perfume lover to try this. Proceed with caution but do try it, it's so worth it!

Wow, I am so in love! Furiosa is the perfect name for this feminine scent-shifting gem! It is indeed the chameleon of perfumes, as previous reviews mention. I have been wearing this throughout a Texas winter... which means the temperatures have ranged from the 20's to the 80's in just the last few weeks! Furiosa morphs with the weather flawlessly. On frozen nights, it projects more warm, ambery and close to the skin. On the warm nights, the florals and incense pop. The warmer the weather, the more chameleon it behaves... showcasing each note as it takes you on a scent adventure. The jasmine in this is my favorite of any perfume, and the incense is perfect. Not too faint, yet not overwhelming. Not too woody. The projection also rises with the temperature. It lasts on my skin for about 8 hours, and lingers on clothing for over 24 hours. Smells amazing on a leather jacket, as all offerings from Fendi do. The warmer weather vibe is more dark and mysterious. The gilded turtle bottle is beautiful and unique!
