La Baguette

I had a possibility to try this Fendi’s new collection and this one immediately stood out from the rest of the line. There are very nice scents but this one was love at the first sniff. La Baguette is captivating combination of stunning minimalist beauty, elegant powdery deliciousness without being gourmand and a dreamy soft pampering texture. Iris is delicate and vulnerable but it’s not too dry, cold or make up like because of tender Vanilla which is not too sweet nor sugary. The most refined leather joins to this dreamy, slightly creamy, classy and luxurious concoction. Sometimes, for a fleeting moment, it feels like a delicious treat. It’s not easy to make an iris fragrance, especially something as simple as this, that would be somehow special but Anne Flipo managed to do it. La Baguette was an instant love and it developed quickly into an obsession since it doesn’t only make me feel confident and beautiful but it also creates amazingly cozy and calming vibes. La Baguette isn’t a super sweet vanilla (thankfully), it’s a dry and suede-like vanilla that’s powdery, lipsticky and iris dominant. There is a slight metallic note, in the style of a cold-cream (classic face cream) way, which I think comes from the iris/orris that’s slightly metallic. I prefer this to Black Tie as it’s more neutral, wearable and office friendly. A daily signature and a modern classic. Of course I’d like this, my entire passion for fragrances is all about minimalist, easy wear, modern classic women’s fragrances that lean unisex. Update: I wore it today and it’s beautiful. It’s a dry-sweet powdery suede that would appeal to lovers of Cuir Beluga (with added iris). On the strip it, I wasn’t impressed at all and I passed it off - you have to wear it to love it. I’ll update again and I’ll give a full in-depth review once I get a full bottle. For now, I can tell that longevity isn’t as great as others from this line. For now, it goes straight to my favourites.

The opening feels very copy and paste to other niche vanilla-leather-iris offerings, but the dry down is what sets this apart from the others. La Baguette smells like sweet vanilla and cold, buttery irises. The sillage feels texturally silky with the chilly iris note. The vanilla is also borderline gourmand, but the white leather balances it beautifully. My partner who is mostly indifferent to my perfume collection even asked me what I was wearing because it smelled so good! Full bottle worthy, and safe blind buy if you cannot get your nose on it if you like sweet iris frags.

This is so good. As a huge fan of Black Tie, I found myself searching for another buttery orris—and this one absolutely delivers. It’s simpler than Black Tie, but that’s part of its charm. The composition is elegant in its restraint. The leather note is soft and sweet, like pressing your nose to the inside of a brand-new designer bag. The buttery iris lingers beautifully, and as it dries down, the vanilla begins to warm through—gentle, smooth, and just sweet enough.

This is the most delicious, buttery, creamy iris in the market. Iris is my favorite note in fragrances and this is done in the most elevated way possible. I've read some folks draw comparisons to the Dior Homme line and although the iris in those is waxy and lipstick like (similar to La Baguette), Fendi really refined the dna and the added vanilla and leather in this truly set it apart. Haven't fallen this head over heels over a fragrance ever. HUGE LOVE for me.

The opening smells very sterile to me, but in a pleasing way. I like this a lot. For my first impression, it’s cold and grey in the beginning, I do not get vanilla at all...After about 5-10 minutes this warms into the buttery iris vanilla I was anticipating. I applied this a second time right out of a shower, skin hydrated generously then applied La Baguette layered with L’eau D’hiver and its chefs kiss 👌🏻so comforting and beautiful.

Absolutely gorgeous! A strong, creamy, approachable iris melds with the softest, smoothest leather (think: very expensive, supple leather gloves). A sheer yet 3-dimensional vanilla (only barely sweet) weaves about the leather and iris like gauzy chiffon. Simple yet elegant, expensive-smelling yet cuddly and extremely wearable. A genius composition that every iris or leather fan should experience.

A refined feminine powdery woody fragrance with the price to match. Perfect signature grade scent, with a makeupy iris that smells wearable and modern. It didn’t shake my world but boy, is it gorgeous and one that you just can’t stop wearing.

I've tried all the fragrances from this new line and, althought this iris/leather gourmand rendition has been done many times, this is the only one I find bottle worthy, specially considering the price tag. Very elegant and well balanced.

Smells like patent leather, lipstick, makeup powder and slight hint of bubble gum. Wth this is so good!

Beautiful sweet lipstick-y suede goodness. It’s just what the notes say but blended so so well.

Best Iris/Vanilla on the market right now

It smells just like a baguette

To the three below who have trouble smelling it, I have a full bottle from manufacturer and right off the nozzle it is strong. On skin and on clothes it lasts and projects with average performance - meaning I can smell myself and people can smell me for up to 6 hours. I have gotten complimented plenty as well. Maybe a reformulation happened (speculation) but I'm pleased with scent and performance. Hope this helps.

Interesting. Creamy, cozy, and polished, reminiscent of soft buttered leather, luxury face powder, and warm skin. I detect a little bit of lipstick. This is just a really interesting fragrance.

Is the leather in the room with us? I'm only getting powdery vanilla iris. It's fine, but I don't think it's worth the price.

Absolutely not even close to Black Tie! That is blasphemy talk right here!! Black Tie is beautiful and perfectly unisex with that hint of Céline vanilla and such a joy to wear! On the other hand, La Baguette is unbalanced and far too masculine on me to even entertain the idea of keeping it in my collection. I’m not saying it’s gross or that it has bad notes but on me, it’s a leather mess that feels like a bad mistake. The iris in here is roots, earthy and fights dirty with that leather note to the bitter end!! Longevity is pretty great though and I had to suffer for hours after I sprayed my wrist. This is a big no for me and I highly recommend testing it or sampling it.

I can’t see why this is popular at all. This is a metallic smelling vanilla. Almost smells like vanilla and burning electricity, yeah it’s a pass

I even have no idea why this is rated over 4...it smells literally synthetic and horrible.

I was going to add an update to my original review but decided to make a new one to say that I concur with the last 2 reviews, I also can not smell this, nor could anyone around me and I have an official sample. I got it back in the summer from the Fendi store and it didn’t leave an impression on me back then. First spray was nice but that faded fast to a lackluster version of Dior homme intense and it didn’t perform or last at all but I thought that was just because of the extreme heat and figured I’d give it another chance in a different season. Well now it’s winter and I decided to try my sample again and same issue, barely there. I smell it for a brief moment then poof, gone with the wind. Even zouzou by Celine has more power than this and that says a lot since that’s a quiet fragrance. In conclusion, La baguette to me is a boring, average smelling designer perfume with horrible performance and is certainly not worth the price. It smells nice, while you can still smell it that is, but there are so many better iris perfumes out there for sure.

La Baguette was a pleasant surprise, exceeding my expectations in every way. While it may seem like another iris and vanilla combination at first glance, the execution is exceptional. The blend is seamless, with high quality ingredients that elevate the scent to new heights. The addition of white leather adds a luxurious touch, reminiscent of Parisian chic. The sweetness is balanced by a subtle powdery note, while the buttery leather prevents the fragrance from becoming too gourmand. I was so impressed that I purchased a full bottle, and I can’t wait to wear it during the fall and winter seasons. The performance is also outstanding, with longevity exceeding 10 hours and an impressive sillage.

Recently sampled in a Fendi boutique and this was the stand out for me in the collection however the magic for me is all the opening. In the opening I get a vanilla and beautiful iris mixed with a somewhat br540 vibe that I personally enjoy but once the top notes fade and they fade fast, it becomes quite lackluster and an average designer perfume to me. Smelled a lot like Dior homme to me, albeit a more femme version but still DH and I think Dior homme is better. This is definitely a unisex fragrance and the performance was not good at all on my skin. Barely lasted 2 hours. In the heat mind you, it may perform better in cooler temps.

I just got a 5ml sample of this. Can anyone else who has it give their experience with strength, pillage, longevity. For me, this sprays so feint, I literally have to have my nose against my arm to even pick it up. It's very nice but so weak and airy. It's also pretty much gone within less than an hour. Does anyone else have this same experience? I can't afford to drop £270 on something I can barely smell. Sure glad I only bought a 5ml sample, this has to be one of the worst performing fragrances I've ever tried.

This is a signature fragrance. I’m not a huge fan of purple florals as I find them too lipsticky. But not this one. I didn’t like black tie and this one is gorgeous. It’s a well blended mashup of iris, vanilla and the most smooth and non animalic leather. I’m enjoying the little sample I have but do not need a full bottle. I find overtly powdery fragrances to give me bathroom air freshener vibes and I do get that smell here. Otherwise is classy and minimalistic.

A gorgeous rooty and leathery orris opening ! Moves quickly into vanilla territory, leaving the leather and orris mostly behind as it becomes a sweet-ish vanilla-based expensive-feeling designer-type perfume. The opening is to die for, I wish it held there for longer. Still very pretty, something completely non-offensive that I would wear out for a night or equally cozy at home for a night in. I do not get anything remotely lipstick-y from this perfume.

this smells like a vanilla lipstick with a soft buttery background the notes look simple on paper, but once it’s on skin there’s so much more happening. cozy sweetness n a gentle powderiness n gosh that hint of leather giving it depth that doesn’t make it suffocating. i really like this one. i have such a bad addiction with lipsticky scents and this one scratches it in the right way

Smells very leathery/vanillic like a designer men’s fragrance. I can’t quite recall which one, a bit generic. Maybe like a softer version of Tom Ford Ombre Leather! Absolutely nothing to do with Celine Black Tie. It isn’t bad at all but I guess I’d say, take the ‘white leather’ part very literally.

Love this!! Very unique take on iris. Smells like a beautiful expensive face cream with the iris sitting on top. A few sprays and it lasts all day on me. Totally different than black tie and all the other perfumes out there. Nothing is like it and I have about 200 bottles. Need a backup for sure!!

The opening closer to dior homme intense and little bit vibe of la vie est belle extrait (gold bottle 2024) , after dry down (almost 1:30 hour) , i smell many previous fragrances and the sweet vanilla popped up , i love it idea and how it blended, it most popular in the boutique and worth buying.

One Love to the house of FENDI! Finally Fendi is back I've always loved Fendi fragrances from the original discontinued Fendi Donna to the Fan di Fendi homme PALAZZO FURIOSA ASJA FENDI another favorite to THEOREMA. So I'm looking forward to all 7 exquisite collection!

So many good scents that Fendi has created in the past and now they start launching new "niche" and very expensive perfumes. They could bring back the wonderful work of art perfumes which Fendi's house has always produced and unfortunately descontinued after. So sad.

@cassio My thoughts exactly when I went to their counter yesterday. I was a little disappointed. I thought to myself, I remember Fendi and Bottega giving us groundbreaking creations. So what is happening to this so called niche craze. A hype without the creativity?

has that typical perfume scent. something about it smells like baccarat but this is better. i like gourmands though so im looking for something that this isnt. i was hoping the vanilla would be what i wanted but i dont smell vanilla here at all

Dior Homme with a touch of powdery marshmallow like vanilla. This is gorgeous! the most beautiful iris and vanilla scent I have tried in recent years. Light, transparent, fluffy. This is so lovely! I would like to have a big bottle.

I bought a certified sample of this from Fendi. It literally smells like very weak leather/suede and nothing else to my nose. The scent wore off within 30 mins on me. It’s a “no”, for me. I wanted to love this.

Considering the "Reminds me of" section this fragrance pretty much sums up a dozen Avon fragrances?! I guess Fendi must be getting their inspiration on Avon, then. You gotta be joking...

god, this is just gorgeous. cold, indifferent, round vanilla and a beautifully dusty blue iris, each in equal measure. so well blended. will be asking for a bottle of this for a gift.

This is lovely - it reminds me of Bana Banana but without the banana lol... not sure I need a full bottle but will enjoy the decant I have.

Milky sweet... It feels like a gourmand-ISH blend as i detect sweet vanilla milk with some woody notes and iris. Meh

This is not a Lipstick On. Smells like beige suede gloves holding a vanilla icecream cone.

Can someone compare this to Ormonde Jayne's Vanilla Iris?
