L'Acquarossa Eau de Toilette

I blind bought 1 oz of this perfume for under $20 just based off of the notes. I've never smelled the original L'Aquarossa, so I can't say anything about how this relates to the original, but as far as being a stand alone frageance it's not bad. It's what I would call a "shampoo floral" - clean, unassuming, passive, and wearable. That being said, it doesn't smell like a cheap, run of the mill floral, either. L'Aquarossa EDT is not watery or harsh. It's not dated, nor too young. It just kind of exists... a little bit of a wallflower perfume. But I kind of like that about it. It kind of reminds me of a more complex version of the Peony body care line from Bath & Body Works, so I guess the peony is the star of the show on my skin. I wouldn't ever pay full price for this, but I really like it for the price I paid for it. If you like clean, rosy perfumes I think you'd also enjoy this.

This version is yet another pretty scent of L'acquarossa family. A citrus-floral with an interesting green-waxy opening and a floral heart and fresh finish. I feel the bergamot and peony the most. A spring-summer scent, for a day. Universally pleasing and possibly not unique but pretty. Lasts long, always citrus-floral in character, it does not change much from the start but it is lovely.

The opening is very citrusy, after some minutes the floral notes come out. Very generic and uninteresting...nothing to write home about.

I think it's the combination of pepper and cedar in this that make it far too astringent and masculine for my taste. It just hurts the nostrils and doesn't feel pleasant on the skin. I don't necessarily mind the citrus it settles into, but it's not a happy journey for me.

I tried on a lot of frags today at an old perfumes store, including the old Poison in the original bottle, Green Irish Tweed, and something called Eleganza Lumiosa but it's been 4 hours and the other ones have faded but this one is still shrieking at me full-strength with its peony and blood orange even after giving my arms and hands a good scrubbing with soap and hot water. This is something I would recommend to fans of Chance eau Vive for sure, but I feel like I've aged out of this 'bright, fresh, clean, energetic!' category. (Not age-wise, personality-wise.) Like I imagine an energetic Italian college girl with shiny bouncy brown hair wearing a red mini-dress the same color as the bottle, running from her last class at a fancy university to her internship at the whatever museum while a hot guy in a Vespa honks at her, you know the cheesy type of commercial I'm talking about. There is a slightly soapy shampoo aspect to it as well and I'm going to point at the sweet peony for that. I also agree with the hairspray thing, but a very sweet hairspray. It's pretty nice but not for me. I can understand why it was discontinued. Reminds me of Tocca Stella as well.
