This starts off with a lot of pepper in the opening, making it very masculine, and I love it. I look for pepper in my fragrances. This has a clean smell too, and reminds me more of shaving cream (a little). The freshness hangs in there for quite awhile and as it dries down the woods, nuts and tonka show up but still in a fresh way. This is not an overly sweet Cologne and probably more suited for 30+. Also I get better than average performance out of this. Not a beast but it does last and projects. Blind buy? It you like pepper, barbersol shaving cream and a more gentlemanly scent, go for it. For me this one checks a lot of my boxes. Also it is fairly unique and nonlinear I don’t have any others that match this. Also this could be worn anytime anyplace.

This is pretty good. Dry and earthy vetiver that opens with a bit of spiciness and you'll get the patchouli too. But my test on it it seems that it performs better out there in the warmer weather or normal weather compared to being in Aircon areas. I had this on in a normal evening and it brings out the Vetiver better but it also goes down to the drydown pretty fast. I did another full wear on a sunny day and Ferrari Vetiver Essence opens up very well, especially the Vetiver. It's a similar Vetiver used in the TFGV with icy spiciness, kinda dry and earthy, aromatic icy ice. Lovely on a good weather day

Such a tragedy, my bottle of this is nearing an end and I believe it is discontinued now? Was a bargain scent, available for under thirty dollars Canadian, now only have inflated EBay prices. Very earthy and dry Vetiver here, simple in presentation as just that VETIVER. No soapy aspects to it that you might find elsewhere, and not as dank as Encre Noire. This is for those that LOVE Vetiver. I pair it with Phoenix Accoutrements Vetiver Planet aftershave. I really love this one, but can assure you it is not a crowd pleaser, this is one you wear for yourself.

A very underrated fragrance. This one should definitely get more love in the fragrance community. Vetiver Essence is a beginner intake into the world of vetiver scents. This one is a recommended try before venturing into the heavy-hitters such as Encre Noire or Sycomore. With Vetiver Essence I get the vetiver, woods, hazelnut, and spices. A very pleasing aroma. It almost comes close to being a Vetiver Tonka clone, but at a much more affordable price! Scent: 8 / 10 Projection: 6.5 / 10 Longevity: 8 / 10

A little bit sweet, tart and refreshing Sweetness is just about enough, well blended and gentlemanly. Very very similar to Paul Smith Portrait For Men. I like it and feel it can be used casually and formal as well as all year around. What you get is what you pay for... not in Ferrari case sometimes you get much more Well done Ferrari 9/10

FVE Very high quality juice - masterfully blended,TF-inspired. Projection-radiates within arm length for around 2-3 hours. Longevity- 6-8 hours. Price for tester - cannot be beaten. Without a doubt - very beautiful fragrance,not your typical vetiver though.

Really nice. No complaints on this one at all. Probably one of the best under 40.00 buys I've made. I've never smelled vetiver tonka to make any references but if this is a close copy then you surely can't go wrong given the price. 8.5/10

One of my favorite cheapies. It gives so many for what you pay. I don't get citrus, only spices, vetiver and some hazelnut. I never regret it when I'm wearing it. Totally recommend.

In 2014, Ferrari has launched another two fragrances to enlarge its Essence Collection, which already had Essence Oud and Silver Essence (2012), in addition to Essence Musk and Leather Essence (2013). This time, the ingredients chosen to give life to the fragrances were cedar and vetiver. Born, then, Cedar Essence (April 2014) and Vetiver Essence (October 2014). Vetiver Essence comes in the standard bottle, which was created for this collection, bringing special paints and impeccable finishing, as metal lid and leather. Once again, the company used one of its patented colors for the Ferrari GT range: Grigio Silverstone 458. The official composition contains notes of Calabrian bergamot, red pepper, Sichuan Pepper and cardamom, in the output; Coffee, Iris and vetiver from Haiti, in the body of the fragrance; Patchouli, tonka bean and hazelnut, in the base. On the skin, Vetiver Essence exudes virility. Although the key ingredient of this creation, the vetiver here is not the absolute star. So humble, shares space with the peppers and the iris. When sprayed, it is spicier than green. The cardamom and the peppers in the beginning remind us of male classics of yore. The coffee, present in the body of the fragrance, is light and almost imperceptible. In this stage of evolution, the vetiver dominates and tells the story. Is not open and alive, but also is not heavy and dry. It is average and balanced, within the standard. From the base, I expected much more of the hazelnuts, but there's a certain creaminess, whose responsibility belongs to the tonka bean. A few times, reminded me of Guerlain Homme in some nuances when, in fact, I expected greater kinship with Encre Noire, through a more refined and Italian interpretation. It projects well at first, but becomes weak. The lasting is good, but did not survive for more than 8 hours on my skin. For an Eau de Parfum, behaves like an Eau de Toilette, which is not positive. In General, I would say that it's the closest to the famous "woody fragrance" that men like (although full of spicy nuances). However, the olfactory pyramid promises much more than the fragrance delivers as a result. In my imagination, a high quality vetiver blended with notes of iris, hazelnuts and coffee sounded like a true champion of innovation and pleasure. That was my biggest deception. But don't get me wrong! Vetiver Essence is a great choice for those who love scents with spicy and woody nuances. When I felt it, for the first time, was my option when compared to cedar and musk versions (Cedar Essence and Essence Musk, respectively). In fact, along with Cedar Essence, seems to me to be the most successful in terms of public acceptance, as well as in versatility. And I say more: inside the Essence Collection, Vetiver Essence is what most conveys masculinity, as symbol of virility without effort, one that is natural and exudes from the man full of vigour and strength. Worth a try in order to draw your own conclusions.

The notes in this fragrance give it a tantalizing prospect.Given the name of the fragrance I was expecting a prominent dose of vetiver in overall feel and I was let down. Right from first spray you get get the bright bergamot opening and that lasts for about ten minutes by which time the peppers and vetiver announce their presence in full.It really does not take long for the warm notes of tonka,cardamom,coffee,hazelnut and patchouli to blend in to give this a pleasing feel. My overall impression of this is it's a woody,earthy and leathery fragrance that does not leave me wowed as a vetiver lover.The vetiver here is slighly smoky but not as dominant as what I am used to in other vetiver loaded scents.In fact,the peppers help give this its spicy edge:they remain well into the dry down.I honestly do not pick up much coffee nor patchouli but the cardamom and tonka are noticeable throughout .The hazelnut somehow gets muddled up in there somehow.It's curious how that got thrown in but my guess is it helps in giving this a leathery feel. In terms of longevity,I have got to admit this is disappointing-at least on my skin.After a couple of hours or so of wearing this on cool autumnal days,the vetiver simply whimpers as the scent begins to disappear creating a close-to-skin scent bubble. Dont be fooled here this is really spicy and if you do not like 'hot and spicy' fragrances then this is not for you.Given that it is an EDP,I am disappointed.I was expecting a longer duration but I guess that's the problem with most EDP's:they are either too dense or the notes are not umped up well. Given its performance,this will be great for spring,cool evenings and for autumn.It will not cut it in winter as it's just not potent enough to cut through the layers.One way of getting more out of this is to spray more and avoid the chest area lest you fall into sneezing fits from the peppers. Overall,this gives a warm and pleasing sensation.One that lives up to its classification as woody spicy.Highly recommended for those who are either new to vetiver or are not massive fans of the note.I can only see this as an attempt to try something new with an already saturated market and somehow the experiment just got lost in execution and leaves me guessing what they were trying to execute here I will not recommend blind buying this especially not at retail price anyway unless you get it dead cheap.Give it a try and see

A unique vetiver fragrance - not for all vetiver lovers but for vetiver lovers looking for a vetiver scent that is a little different, it's worth trying. Props to Ferrari again for stepping up their game with yet another quality, interesting EDP release. Vetiver Essence is definitely EDP quality, in fact it was so strong it initially made my eyes water with a few small sprays. Projection was fairly strong when I tested it, too strong at times judging from my burning eyes, and longevity was good. I would describe this as a dry, "brown" vetiver. Surely most of us have smelled many "green" vegetal vetiver fragrances. To my nose, Vetiver Essence comes across as a dry, brown desert vetiver whose Arabic roots definitely show through. There is a greenness to it, there's no mistaking it's a vetiver scent. But that is all underpinned by a coffee note, some apparent nuttiness and something that almost smells leathery to me. Easily one of the more interesting scents I've tried in a while, and certainly the most unique vetiver. If I had to compare this to anything I've smelled, I'd say it's closest to Ungaro III. Definitely worth at least trying for lovers of vetiver. It's a pass for me, I won't be buying a bottle, but not because it isn't any good. Vetiver tends to burn me out on it quickly, so the few vetiver scents I already own more than suffice.

I have been wearing this quite a lot in the last few days. I got it for a bargain : 9$/100ml tester. This starts with a spicy, dark vetiver with hints of citrus, and then becomes a vetiver-patchuli combo with a powdery-spicy-coffee vibe. I don't think this is for everyone, but it is quite different than most vetivers on the market (at least from what I've smelled). What's the catch? This is a aromatic-dark fragrance, may appear as dense, but it's better suited for warmer weather. If you want a dark fragrance that you can wear in the summer, this is it. Performance on my skin is ok - 6-8h with good projection in the first 2-3h, but with a soft vibe (it won't outshine any other smell around you even though it projects ok).

Bought this by mistake thinking I’d ordered Radiant Bergamot and Cedar Essence. Got RB and this instead. As vetiver scents go, this one’s heavy on the earthiness. It’s not as smooth as Guerlain and TdH, but it still bangs. The pepper is prominent, as is the bergamot and spice (cardamom?). This lasts a good 4-5 hours with 3-4 sprays. I’m still picking up the occasional waft 8 hours later from my clothes. Some may not like the earthiness of this and would likely find it challenging, but for $28 AUD, it’s a very wearable gent’s scent for those who like earthy, spicy numbers. Not detecting the coffee notes. Yet. A decent mistake. 👏🏻

Don't get me wrong, I love Ferrari's Essence Collection, but this is one of the worst fragrances i had ever stumbled upon. The vetiver is way too strong for me and I think that it doesn't mix well with the other notes. The smell makes me feel like I'm having a fever. I do see the potential that Vetiver Essence could have had but it's just not for me. Apparently some people do enjoy this one and I respect that, however I do suggest you sampling it before you buy it. Oh well, everyone has different noses.

This is an example of the case where the description sounds a whole lot better than the actual smell. I really like vetiver, coffee and hazelnut so I thought this was going to be a no brainer. I was wrong. However, I still like this scent just not as much as I anticipated I would. In my opinion, this is best suited for the cold weather. Rating 7.5/10

A lovely sales associate just gifted me a small bottle of this with my purchase of Versace Oud Noir. Very interesting take on a vetiver scent, will post more on it later but first impressions are good...

Nice first impression as a vetiver lover. Surpassed expectations.

Not considering anyone else's reviews or the notes listed, I would say this is a great clean and sharp woody green fragrance with a dark and leathery feel. Citrus if any is used to freshen the wood. Looking down at what others have said, I'd say this is more classic aftershave than deodorant because there is little sweetness. Tonka can't be found by me but perhaps that and iris are used to Soften the heavier notes. Price point on this was 20$ canadian, and I think that is fair considering minimal projection off of 3 sprays. It does get better after a few hours and I start to smell it again, others could as well. This leans masculine, all situation, all weather except very hot. I think it may disappear in very cold though. Out of my collection, it has only reminded me of Bath and Body's Bigelow Green, and Gucci Nobile. Its a worthy add if you appreciate and wear woody and green fragrances, as I do. I was looking for a hazelnut vibe and I don't think I got that here, but there's a heaviness which might be how that's presenting on skin. Not my favorite fragrance but no regrets on my blind buy, this is my style. While it is good, it has not convinced me to buy more than one ferrari.
