Winter 25

Love this release. It's lovely, unique, well-blended. Sits close to the skin, longevity is a bit on the weaker side, but a genuinely "pretty" fragrance. A wonderful winter release, the "icey" feeling is evocative, the peppermint is gorgeous and very seasonable, but I'm looking forward to trying in warm weather too. It's in the same category as Renaissance by Xerjoff for me, citrus and mint with "more". They go in their own directions, but I can see myself considering which in the same wear circumstances. It *is overpriced, especially considering performance. A 50 ml bottle would take the sting out a bit. I can usually justify back up bottles, not sure I really can with this one, much as I love it. Also, it needs a cap. The whole "100% recyclable" thing is fine, it needs a cap. The company suggests keeping it the tube - mine was stuck so tight I had to cut the tube to get it out. Looks like a tester, which bugs me at this price point. It's a small thing, but it isn't, either. The company does so much right, their attention to detail game is on, genuinely beautiful fragrances, and their communication/customer service is great, but there are a few things they could do to push it over the top. The cap being one, samples of available archived scents being another. Love to try more, but few can blind buy anything that expensive. If you like these notes, though, this is 100% worth checking out.

I think this will be wearable year-round, perhaps even opening up more and becoming more enjoyable in warm weather. I can understand the perspective of those who have said it feels like more of a spring/summer fragrance for them. This is fresh and inviting. Strong citrus and eucalyptus opening on me, giving way to the fragrance's rose heart, which settles into the vetiver with grace. Something about this fragrance is so comforting to me—the first thing that comes to mind is a kitchen full of chopped herbs, fruit, and fresh flowers on the table. It does not last as long as Spring 25 does on me, which is a shame because I love it the more I wear it. I usually try spraying fragrances like that on clothes/scarves to make them last longer, which makes the lemon rind smell more prominent with this perfume. I've been on the ledger since Fall 2024 so I've now had the opportunity to try Autumn 24, Winter 25 and Spring 25. So far, the direction the brand has taken in 2025 has been the right fit for me, as the latter two fragrances are right up my alley (Spring 25 is absolutely divine and I will have to get a backup bottle), so I look forward to what Summer 25 has in store.

I finally got my bottle of Winter 25 after a very long wait. Apparently Ffern had difficulties delivering the vials in the EU. I really love the scent. Unfortunately, it smells much too similar to the bottle of Winter 24. That's a bit of a disappointment for me, as I've been looking forward to it for so long. Like Winter 24, Winter 25 smells heavenly of lemon and Rose de Mai and has almost the same scent profile. It feels like an beautifully iced rose on a crisp cold winter day in the snow, while you can enjoy the winter landscape wrapped up in your cozy warm sweater. Once the icy and citrus notes fade, a wonderful clean and warm scent emerges. However, I still have about 3/4 of the Winter 24 left, so I can't justify to myself keeping both. I will sadly return the bottle of Winter 25. However, if anyone missed Winter 24, I highly recommend Winter 25.

This is my first FFern fragrance and I am loving it. To me, it is both a cool and warm scent at the same time. The lavender and minty citrus are very cool, and after a few minutes the rose, Vetiver and saffron notes come through. I read that some are getting an overpowering citrus note, but to me it lessons and blends beautifully after dry-down. I appreciate that they provide a tester to make the essential blind buy less risky, but I will be keeping this one.

I have fallen in love with Winter 25! It's a bright, fizzy citrus and sweet rose that reminds me of Delina, but sharper. I love spraying this after a shower because it's just so fresh. There's nothing cold or wintry about it; to me it's all spring/summer sun. Winter 25, to me, is like sticking your nose in a flute of champagne at a garden party. Sparkling, girly, and just lovely!

This is a great fragrance for people like me who dislike traditionnal "winter" fragrances dominated by spices and vanilla. This one feels like smelling the fresh outdoors in the winter.

When I saw the ingredient list, I thought it would be more rose and Evergreen focused and I was very excited, but the citrus is overwhelming. For me such an excessive citrus is more of a summery scent. On the dry down, it smells exactly like the 1990s “the body shop” soap called Camellia, which was quite a a lovely scent, mixed with many types of citrus zest. I don’t feel anything wintry here, but there is a nice creaminess on the dry down which again I associate more with spring or summer. The fact that this is 100% plastic free in packaging and shipping materials blows my mind as this is the only 100% sustainable and natural perfume house that I have experienced. I have only used the sample so far and from the sample I don’t think I will keep it but the funny thing is my autumn 2024 sample smelled horrible on me, but somebody opened my full-size box by mistake, and it was a completely different experience! I’m wondering if I would get more of a full-bodied, robust rose de mai and base notes if I opened it, but that is the gamble! Last time it paid off and gave me one of my favourite scents ever. I feel that the sample sizes contain more top notes, but they explained to me that it’s the atomizer. Still my experience is far different than simply having different atomizer Introduce the scent. I do love how they take ingredients that I usually despise and somehow use them in the exact ratios to make me not even recognize them, but enjoy them. I dislike things such as caraway and fennel, but they make them smell amazing. Saffron is often used very heavy-handedly such as in other natural perfumes by LVNEA, but this house really knows how to handle its ingredients. If you like a citrusy aromatic, I would go for it!

This is my first from the brand and I’m definitely impressed so far. Really rather lovely scent - I definitely see what plenty of reviewers say about this cool and citrusy composition feeling more suited to summer. But I see the coolness (iciness) as exactly the point in terms of their brief of evoking a wintry scene. Beautiful rindy citrus opening that gives way to an icy, herbally-inflected pale pink rose and a subtly woody base. This is the scent of cheeks turned rosy in the breeze, on daytime winter walks taken with loved ones, among deserted scenery. [Just a note to fragrantica admins in case anyone is reading - the “rock rose” (labdanum) is incorrectly indicated as a regular rose here]

Citrus and white rose, dew speckled, settle into a warm vetiver, eucalyptus, and lavender potpourri. Winter 25 is wonderful. Not a typical winter scent. Soft citrus and florals like a blanket of snow covering the ground beneath. Woods, brown grass, soil. Eucalyptus and lemongrass are there linearly, bringing a chill to each inhale. That Ffern DNA is there, mostly why people think these all smell similar, I suppose. Fferns fragrances mature exceptionally well. I can't wait to experience this with some age.

Truly love this one. Cold, snappy rose and citrus. Like a winter hike on a bluebird day. It only lasts a few hours on skin, but longer on clothing and hair. Feels sophisticated but not grandma. Feels appropriate for work and date night, but I honestly just wear it at home and in my pajamas half the time because I enjoy it so much.

I didn't get as much of a cooling effect from the eucalyptus, lavender, and peppermint as I would have liked. On me, it's a sweet, rose scent with a hint of lime, with poor sillage and longevity. I like it, just not enough to keep it. I will be returning it, but will keep in mind the rose notes for future purchases.

received a bonus sample of this from a decanter online and i'm so pleasantly surprised! if you like savoy steam by penhaligons, this is a much brighter version of that. it does somewhat remind me of hotel soaps and lotions (in the kindest way possible) but this is very wearable and unisex, crisp and fresh.

this is my second ffern fragrance and it’s far better than fall 24 in my opinion. it feels like stepping outside on a snowy day, like a clean, cold hike in the woods.

It’s nice but really nothing special and gone in two hours. I dont think anyone would buy if they didnt make it so exclusive and hard to get.

smells like walking into a lush... but in an overwhelmingly soapy way.

definitely something that feels more Spring/Summer to my nose. the opening for me is a very bitter, icey citrus rind, with a hint of pink pepper that adds a pop of freshness to the profile. followed by a lite, powdery sweet rose blended in. i saw a review below that said they felt it was suited for winter because it was "warm, spicy and quite heavy"... its the exact opposite for me, i don't pick up anything spicy, just bitter citronella mosquito bug repellent vibes. it's cooling from the pepermint, and incredibly lite. the few times i wore it, i did 10+ sprays and had to reapply 2-3 times a day. i didn't suffocate myself or anyone else, as no one could smell it on me after the first hour unless they snorted my skin. the only reason it works as a "winter" scent for me, is i can associate it to a winter memory. the dry down kinda reminds me of rose flavored Turkish Delight, which reminds me of a winter scene in Chronicles of Narnia. I've been on the ledger since Winter 23 and will most likely be ending my subscription in 2025. Winter 25 is nearly identical to Winter 24, and the DNA seems to be overly familiar for me at this point. Ffern has given me some lovely fragrances, but i just can't justify the price with the small bottle size, weak longevity, virtually zero projection after the harsh, aggressive opening dies out, and the repetitive scent profiles year after year.

Absolutely agree with the others who mention that this is too citrus forward to be a winter scent. Doesn't evoke a sense of winter at all. While not unpleasant, to me it's pretty generic citrus scent that would be better in summer. After trying a few Ffern scents, I find that they all have a similar citrus focus. I own three scents from Ffern now and I think that's all I need. For those that like Jo Malone fragrances, I do think you would like the Ffern brand. The good thing about the brand is that it's pretty easy to return the ones that you don't like. You just use the included sample to test it out and leave the main bottle unopened, and they you can request to return it for a refund or store credit.

I like the scent, but Winter 25 fades too quickly, lasting only about 15 to 30 mins. Compared to the rest of the line, including Spring & Summer 25, Winter 25 is just okay-ish peppermint rose prominent. But only as a botanic summer/ spring fragrance. I originally looked for Spring 25 but couldn't find it, so I revisited my thoughts on Winter 25 instead. I've had multiple samples before, and the weak longevity has been a consistent issue to this brand. I ended up giving my Winter 25 bottle away as a summer fragrance and made sure to mention its seasonal use. Hopefully, they improve longevity in the future.

This smells like straight gin on me for about fifteen minutes and then fades to a vaguely piney-pepperminty scent that only projects a couple inches. I didn't get any of the other notes, and certainly nothing floral or citrus. Honestly I think I was blinded by their "exclusivity" gimmick--this was my first Ffern fragrance and I hadn't worn it in a few months and now I'm not even sure why I kept it. Maybe I'll try giving the bottle a shake to recombine the ingredients and give it another shot.

This is very similar to Chanel Paris - Edimbourg. As for all those notes above, it simply smells like pine needles and citrus. And for the size of the bottle compared to the Chanel, at a similar price, I cancelled my Ffern subscription.

Pleasant, woody, citrusy, fresh. I don't interpret this to be a winter fragrance though. i gifted it to a friend. if you like Paradise by Nest, or if you like Calypso Clementine by B&BW, you'll like this.

Seems I'm in the minority here, but I didn't love this one. It's only my second fragrance from Ffern, and I much preferred Fall 24 (again, I seem to be in the minority about that too). I don't really care about whether something feels classically wintry or autumnal or summery. For me, Winter 25 just wears very medicinal and screechy on my skin. It's a high-pitched citrus, laced in a laundry-fied rose. This one's going back, but I'm looking forward to Spring 25.

I was disappointed in this scent, its top note reminded me of spearmint gum, and was too heavy in the green scents for the dry down. I returned the bottle.

I disagree with everyone who said it is a summer scent. It’s ideal for winter. It’s warm, spicy and quite heavy. It's too rich to be a summer perfume. You'll basically suffocate if you try it on a hot day. It’s also not light enough to be a spring fragrance. And not sweet enough to be autumn one. I might also say I don't feel as much citrus. When you wear it for more than an hour, you feel mostly lavender. Right after the application, I sense peppercorns. Mind it, I don't like citrusy perfumes, but I'm totally in love with this one

My wife and I have now been subscribers for a little less than a year and a half. Every release has smelled outstanding. Smoky vetiver, a tart rhubarb, an icy rose...they're very good. Here's my problem: despite the difference in notes, there isn't enough uniqueness to merit owning all of them. Rather, they feel like variations on the same core DNA. I would like to see Ffern commit to a different concept for each fragrance rather than tinkering within one between seasons. Hopefully they start to do that more soon.

-Update June 25 I don’t regret the cancellation from their ledger. It’s time for me to end my Ffern subscription. Fall 2023 smells identical to fall 2024, and now winter 25 smells identical to winter 24. These scents are organic, which is great but they are so light that they do not last. If they’re just gonna recycle fragrances, then I’m gonna save my money.
