Mentha

I got samples from Fiele and I thought this would be my least favorite as I'm not huge into minty scents. I was blind-sidedly wrong. This was my favorite and ended up buying a bottle. Mentha's opening envelops you with a pleasing medley of spearmint and honeyed neroli. Haven't figured it out yet, but there's something distant, yet very familiar here that evokes a nostalgic feeling. Mid-notes greet us with clementine zest with a sprinkle of hay. Dry-down is a pleasing sweet natural cedar with soft cardamom. The spearmint kinda stays throughout and says hey every now and then. This is a well-blended complex beaut. definitely worth a try!

When I was a child and lived in Brazil I use to get this mint chewing gum called Ping Pong and today when I spray this mentha perfume I was transported to my childhood because smells identical to this chewing gum. Smells are truly magic they can transport you to another time alright. I got a bottle. This is very refreshing and I highly recommend for a hot day. Love it.

Happy to see this small niche perfume house added to the data base. Mentha is a beautiful mint dominant perfume, with herbs and spices: cardamon, neroli, vetiver and citrus notes are all blended well. I also smell hay, a little barnyard feel but I like it. Drydown has cedar and musk in it, with decent performance this scent makes me wish for warmer temperatures.

This is divine. Fluffy, gentle, exquisite.. I sampled it yesterday and ordered a bottle today. I am new to fragrances but my nose knows that this is perfection.

I have not done this previously, as I'm here to review perfumes. But this is a review for the parent company of Fiele, Capsule Parfumerie. Ordering from them has been a major hassle with a complete lack of customer service and support along the way. I placed an order for two bottles of perfume. After 4 days, I still had not received a shipping confirmation. I proactively reached out to the company and was eventually told the items I ordered were no longer available. Why was I only being told this 5 days after placing the order? Moreover, they failed to refund the full amount of my purchase. Nothing but excuses from them. I have another Fiele fragrance which I think is quite good, but can't see ever giving them business in the future. Just a mess from start to finish.

I love the scent concept of Fiele fragrances and owned a few already. I didn't get to sample Mentha for a long time and was sure I would love it. Finally smelled it today and this fragrance surely threw a curve ball at me. Firstly it's much spicier than what I imagined based on the notes and name. I'd almost describe the spice as a caraway note - not your typical smoothed out "cardamom" or "vetiver". Secondly there's a very jarring powdery fruitiness, strong in the opening that smells of fruit juice powder. I guess that's the orange and clementine here. The mint acts more so as the aromatic atmosphere that ties it all together, but I was surprised by all the different directions these accords are pulling the perfume from. Moderate projection and good longevity. Overall an interesting experience, but I much prefer other creations in this line. Still I appreciate the artistry and glad to see this house takes risks and doesn't just create crowd-pleasers.

I've yet to try a Fiele fragrance that I don't like, and this one was a particularly surprising love for me since I was slightly worried that it would be "elevated chewing gum". And it's sort of that, but so much more interesting than I expected. The mint and citrus are bright and clean, and those notes are balanced by the creamy, whipped sandalwood soufflé that is their signature. The cardamom is, unsurprisingly, the polarizing note here, but to me it reads as more aromatic than spicy or foody in this composition. It's invigorating and grounding, a balancing act that could have gone very wrong, but for me it works beautifully.
