A WAY TO SAY GOODBYE

When it’s said that fragrance can be art, surely they mean scents like A Way to Say Goodbye. This smells like the inside of a well worn, well loved, leather purse. On my skin it’s smoky, minty and leathery with that chypre base. A little medicinal, aromatic, and the animalic touch is kind of like the dirty smell of dollar bills. It is a true niche scent in every sense of the term.

A way to say good bye unearthed something in me. A smell that I took for granted which was the inside of my grandmas purse. In the dry down, I do get the peppermint gum, something slightly powdery that reminds me of the smell of my grandmas lipstick, and the leather of her purse. Would definitely purchase a full bottle.

Stroke of genius. So vividly captures the familiar memory of gum in a leather bag while simultaneously being a fascinating, modern, and intelligently referential chypre with animalic twist. My favorite of Elliott's line (however, some of his newer creations threaten to take the top spot). Must try!

Mint gum, on top of Youth Dew by Estee Lauder, a drydown of powdery benzoin and leather...soft as a feather. Very reminiscent of my grandmother’s signature perfume Youth Dew. It is nostalgic and classic all while retaining a creative modern identity. Very sweet and endearing fragrance, comforting

my favorite chypre. it smells like my mom's perfume reconstructed by the memory of a child, the fabric seats inside her suburban, her well-loved chanel purse. such an earnest expression of love and reverence captured here.
