GLIDER

I would say, if chypres are your thing, you should definitely order a sample of this. It's a very complex and unique scent, like so many by this perfumer. Be careful, if you order the sample set, you might find yourself with some difficult choices :)

Disclaimer: I tend towards the spicey/resinous/incense/oriental/borderline gourmande perfumes, so this one isn't for me, but it's so interesting to sniff. It's a pretty sharp, green scent. It *almost* comes off as smokey. I can still smell the tangerine underneath the loud screeching of the green (is that the vetiver?). It reminds me a bit of the smell of a rock, some metallic tang and mineral notes to it. Fun to listen to Glider by My Bloody Valentine (the inspiration for the scent) while sniffing. It makes so much sense. The song has a blanket of loud screeching over a more subtle, but present and sweeter base line. I'm very new to perfume, so I don't feel comfortable trying to pick out which scents are the most prominent, but if you know more: the green ones. :) Edit1: I'm learning more, and I think it's probably the galbanum, not the vetiver that's the screechy smell. I'll have to hunt down the both individually, but based on the descriptions of their smells (galbanum being "Intense, green" and vetiver being "precious woods") I'm going to take a more educated guess for that one. Edit2: also the pettigrain. Prolly that helps.
