INCURABLE

This smells like the most photorealistic cup of tea. Like you are sitting with your nose directly above the steaming cup. Black tea, honey, little ginger crystals. It's breathtaking, delicate, and beautiful. Incredibly inviting and comforting. As I am wearing this, it is really blooming compared to smelling on paper or fabric. The ginger shines incredibly brightly and there is a depth to it beyond the spice. It is still warm, comforting and tea-forward to my nose. However, after a few hours, I can now see why people find it a bit "goth." Despite this, I get no clove and certainly no tobacco. It bears no resemblance to the kretek cigarettes I have seen mentioned by reviewers.

Just showered day walker corporate goth? The first Clove cigarette and first incense stick sparked by the opening bartender at the goth club just after filling the ice well fresh and cutting more garnish? Crisp and clean, but like a prep kitchen. Earthy and green but like a moss covered brick wall in the rain. Warm and enveloping like headphones cranked to 10.

So I quite like this one-- I definitely get the spiciness upfront-- but there's something in this that makes the composition read bright & sweet to my nose. Like a gummy, fruity sweetness, the same thing you'd get from sniffing an open pack of fruit snacks or Fruit by the Foot. I'm surprised to see there are no berry or fruit notes in the breakdown-- perhaps the ginger is more of a candied ginger note. I was hoping for something a little darker and moodier based on the accord pyramid.

The spice here is sweet and soupy, not sharp and peppery; it really smells like a home-cooked meal in a wood-lined kitchen. I think of the broth of pho tai after adding hot sauce when I smell this, just make it a tad sweeter and add like... carrots. Not a heavy scent at all. Kinda gets me hungry. Has a disappointing, lotion-esque drydown. You start to smell soapy instead of spicy and the vibe is kinda ruined.
