SOUND & FOG

Dark, warm, subtle. I get coffee, lacquered wood, a bit of galbanum like a forest floor. There's a moment of true pine resin, sweet, sticky, gorgeous, but it passes fast. If I really layer this on thick, I get strong birch tar that fades to leave the lovely woods, coffee, a bit of dusty spice, a touch of forest floor and a tiny hint of something that reminds me of licorice. I don't get much throw; it wears very close to the skin. I really like it though. Dark and bitter while still being warm and soft. Lovely.

I had first set this perfume aside as 'not for me'. Something about the tobacco and licorice combination. But the more I smell it, the more complex and remarkable I find it. I can picture someone falling in love with this, and you would certainly not be in the 'department store sheep' crowd. I can't stress enough how worthwhile it is to order a sample set from this perfumer. Their scents are all unique and interesting. If you want something different, get this!

Smells like the Root Beer Float Queen eating a stack of 100 pancakes at a local diner. Strong maple syrup and root beer that becomes a thicker sweeter molasses as it sits. Started off unpleasant and gradually became disgusting. Maybe something with how this particular licorice note sits on my skin. Not usually 1 to develop headaches from scents but this gave me one bad. If the coffee and tobacco was stronger or maybe more of a cigarette smell I could get a more atmospheric old diner nostalgia, instead is reminiscent of the soda machine at an IHOP. All the notes are typically my thing, so disappointing to me. Tried layering it with something woody which at first seemed alright, but after 30 minutes it somehow emphasized all the worst elements and became only sweet. Definitely unique however, not similar to any intentionally "soda" scents, just not for me.

friend sent me a sample of this and it broke in the package, leaking everywhere. my whole house now smells like a strange, herbal, medicinal toothpaste. like somehow the notes combine to create a mint smell. i literally woke up in the night before i opened the package thinking “what smells like toothpaste???” its genuinely headache inducing and i cant imagine putting this on my skin. love u filgree & shadow and love weird medicinal smells usually but this is not it.

absolutely hate her. i gave it away to my girlfriend bc she didnt find it as offensive as i did. smells like unidentifiable sticky substance on a table in a diner booth, thick molasses, old pancakes that have been sitting out, rootbeer syrup on your fingers at your drive thru job, extremely cloying and headache inducing. my least favorite from the filigree and shadow sample set i got, just awful lol
