But Not Today

It has a unique accord that smells like getting uppercut with a mouthful of blood. As a fighter I vouch it's as accurate as it could be. The whole perfume smells like biting through a predatory animal's flesh and tasting its blood through the dirty animalic musk and smokiness of fur. The blood finally dries out and only tinge of metallics remain of it so that the animalic leather can show its full beauty. Beautiful leather made by castoreum animalics, styrax smokiness and defined by florals (spanish-esque). The texture of the leather is not a floral though (none of the usual iris, violet or saffron), the texture is an aroma-chemical (isobutyl quinoline) that is used in modern faux leather perfumes, but again for the use of three scent aspects of genuine leather it doesn't feel chemical at all. After another three hours the florals start to take over the spot light for yet another unique stage to finish this madness, I'm not the expert of the floral notes here to describe them more than the overall types and names so I'll leave it at that. To whom do I recommend? Are you crazy, are you bored with everyday life, does your food taste like ash or the grass seem grey? Do you secretly enjoy a good wound? (Or better yet openly adore one) did you think there's no perfume for you, weirdo? Well here it is. You gotta love animalic leather and metallic blood. I told you what it resembles in my mind, being the predator of a predatory animal! The bite, the feast and a nap in the garden afterwards. Who do I imagine wearing this? Someone crazy! In a dangerous intelligent way, a sophisticated brawler, two faced, inflicting pain and attending aftercare, a dominatrix/dom and an artist. In short: Marquis de Sade or Elizabeth Bathory. The accord pyramid according to my nose is simple: blood on top, animalic leather in the middle and florals deep in the base. It starts loud transits into next level each two~three hours while the projection lowers to moderate and then an inch above skin for the floral final act. Personal: I love it, there are many strange perfumes that are truly niche (appealing only to a small group of people) but this one is mine. It's not particularly well made, but the taste is what makes it unforgettable, it's the only blood available for a lifelong thirsty Dracula, of course it tastes delicious. My favorite from Unum, I don't wear it as much as "Io Non Ho Mani Che Mi Accarezzino il Volto", but I feel alive everytime I do. A big big big love.

Thoughts on a sampling... * Very linear, nothing wrong with that. * The scent reminds me of the candle and home decor isles at Marshall's and Home Goods stores. * With regards to the Hannibal theme it's a cheap second rate smell, not of the real McCoy. * Leans more towards Target rather than Neiman Marcus. * Smells like a mix of metal candle holders with faux paint jobs along with vanilla wax candles wrapped in plastic and tied with ribbon lace. * Reminds me of being inside a Hallmark Cards Gift shop. * Very nice bottle. * Smells metallic but not like blood. Rusty iron smells like blood but it's not present here. * Has a plastic vinyl Saran Wrap funk to it. * 2 1/2 hours and it's a skin scent. BUMMER because it leaves me wanting more. * Revisiting it after 48 hours and must say it is quite interesting in it's own peculiar way. * The film scene in question “But Not Today” does not take place in Italy but rather it takes place in the USA and is at the end of the film just before Hannibal (Anthony Hopkins) chops his hand off! * Upgrading it from "ok" to "like" and could easily become a "love" but still trying to gauge the poor longevity issue. *Tried it a half dozen times now and decided to upgrade to "love" it as a scent however it only projects for two hours tops! I get over 8 hours as a very weak skin scent. That sucks! ** Final thoughts. I really like this one a lot and want it so badly! And for $250./100ml from Lucky Scent I would be all over it, that's how good it is. But it needs to last longer!! So, sad to say I won't be getting this one. I am excited to say that I will be trying more of Filippo Sorcinelli's fragrances. *** Please make a version of "But Not Today" with better projecting power than just 2 hours if at all possible, please.

but not today revealed my previously undiscovered adoration for carnal, animalic fragrances. i smelt it and wore it for the first time a few months ago.. here are some words i wrote after that experience: it was the bottles [unum bottles] that immediately drew me in. but ‘but not today’ fucking blew my mind. i cannot stop thinking about it or smelling my wrists. it is so inhuman yet so human, so erotic, animalic, insidious, violent and INSANE.. unlike anything i have ever smelt before. it was absolutely shocking at first, so unnerving and intense; so much so that i initially thought i’d made a mistake by spraying it onto myself. the smell was so viscerally strong that it made me feel mildly nauseous and claustrophobic, even though i was walking outside in extremely windy weather. i was wrapped in a sickening veil and couldn’t escape it. but the more it settled into my skin, the more it revealed it’s complexity.. transforming into something that i now find so primal and arousing. i was literally running around college asking everyone to smell me because i couldn’t control my excitement. i feel it has unearthed a hidden part of me. it has done something to me anyway jesus christ. now, it’s not *as* shocking to me. i bought 2 tester vials of it shortly after that so i’ve worn it a lot and got to know it better. it really is immense for the first half hour, and it’s not something i’d casually wear everyday but as i said before, once it settles down its true beauty unravels. spicy, smokey and meaty. human & wild animal body odors, rusting metal, dried blood and a streak of carnation. so sinister yet seductive. thank you but not today and the perfume boutique owner for opening me up to the world of filippo sorcinelli.

finally got around to trying this on skin. up front, immediately after spraying, it is cinnamonny nail polish. that quickly goes away, carnation and animalics taking center stage, something vaguely gourmand and doughy fluttering around the edges of the scent. there is nothing metallic or sharp or unpleasant or gross about this, apart from the direct opening being very chemical. christ this is sexy! very wearable. it smells like my grandpa. or my dad. still very sexy, tho, dunno what the implications of that might be for me... anyway, yeah. clean and dirty at the same time. stuffy and leathery and fuzzy, furry. very dry-warm-spicy... theres something cinnamony going on here! might be worth mentioning i bought a sample of this (partially because of the scent profile, yes, but mainly-) because the silence of the lambs is my favorite movie ever, and i secretly wish to marry anthony hopkins' hannibal. so i might be a little biased. this might smell like old man to you. but to me it is clean, masculine, fuzzy, warm and sexy. but not so masculine that only a man could rock this, definitely unisex. or right, forgot to mention. cigs! smells like someone who smokes a looooot of ciggarettes. surprisingly very powdery-floral. so good. im in love. smells like old carpet flooring, a little, as well.
