Why do you buy fragrance? If the answer you give to that question even hints at compliments, dropping panties, boxers or whatever else floats your personal boat or involves a gym, please save your time and stop reading now. This one is not for you. Still with me? Let's revisit the initial question. Why? For me, the answer is complicated. Fragrance is art in a bottle when done well. The best bottles are also great design elements and at their pinnacle, are art themselves. Scent is more strongly tied to memory and emotion than other senses. But a blend of smells can be a deeply cerebral experience. It is the beauty of the scent coupled with how a scent makes me feel that makes certain fragrances appeal deeply, almost spiritually, to me. A great sounding advertising blurb, a cool or unique bottle, a good review by someone I trust or past positive experiences with a perfume house's products (or a combination of some or all of these things) might get me to try, or even blind buy, a product. But the real reason I continue to buy fragrance, and to regard it as my favorite hobby, is that every so often, I discover a fragrance that really, deeply moves me. Filippo Sorcinelli's Io Non Ho Mani Che Mi Accarezzino il Volto by Italian niche house UNUM, is one such fragrance. I hope to never be without a bottle. In reviews prior to this one, others have set out the poem from which the name is taken, described the photo shoot and resulting photographs which inspired the perfume and provided context necessary to understand the striking bottle in which this fragrance is presented. The note pyramid above is spot on in terms of what notes have been used to compose this exceptionally well blended fragrance. The notes exude quality. I won't repeat all of that good work here since this review is already getting too long. Suffice it to say, if you want to learn about these things, it is all here elsewhere on this page. So why do I love this fragrance? Simply put, for me, this composition triggers a flood of emotions, some happy, some very dark indeed. This fragrance is high art. This scent is, again for me, because this reaction is intensely personal, a heart-stopping thing of terrible beauty. This is an inescapably churchy scent. Persons who have not experienced the incense-heavy, floral intensity of an old (Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Coptic or Anglican) church during a "high church" service will probably not resonate as strongly with this fragrance. But they will still be able to appreciate it. In Io Non Ho Mani, there is a bitterness of citrus and galbanum in the opening, a cinnamon tinged incense throughout, and from time to time florals, leather and woods show themselves. It smells like the aforementioned sort of church, with a hint of celluloid (doubtless an olfactive reference to the film in the camera that took the photos of priests that got this whole thing rolling). When I smell this fragrance, I can feel contemplation. I can sense struggle and longing. I can also, ultimately, feel uplift, rededication to vocation and contentment. Wow, that seems like an awful lot to get from an odor, right? Yep. Remember how I mentioned that smells are the most strongly linked sensations to memory? I get so much out of this fragrance because it triggers specific memories for me. This triggering effect is why some folks might be drawn to scents that remind them of a perfume worn by a parent or grandparent or repelled by a cologne worn by an ex. That this fragrance can consistently conjure up these feelings continues to astound me. Of course, if anyone is still reading this review, they will most assuredly not experience Io Non Ho Mani the way I do. But I cannot imagine anyone wearing this fragrance and not being struck by its depth and wonderful incense driven beauty. This scent is a must try for all folks who like incense scents. Don't worry, it probably won't bring a tear to your eye, just a beautiful smell to your nose. This fragrance is not for the immature, the compliment-seeking or the shallow. It is best suited for cooler seasons. Start with one or two sprays; for the first couple of hours, this is very strong and heady stuff. Ideal for a cold rainy day at home alone. Most highly recommended.

Smells like asexuality, inability to be loved, lonliness, regret and very very old things long expired & made of unattractive old withered trees. I have no hands that caress my face, (heavy is the weight of these words that know no love) I don't know the sweet pleasure of abandoning you I had to be the guardian of your loneliness Me, the savior of lost hours. A poem that this perfume has borrowed its first sentence; And shares its soul with. The presentation too, is taken from Mario Giacomelli's project with the same name and concept (also inspired by the same cold and catching poem). Those pictures to me act as a prequel to the poem, and share the vibe with the perfumes opening hours of warm denial in a cold emptiness that will inevitably catch up. Review: I initially had wrote a review explaining notes and their progression hour by hour, but how pointless is that for such a parfum which is more art than fashion and more melancholia than art. Beyond the notes listed here, which are accurately listed and are shed layer at a time, great pyramid and accurate votes, you will exactly get the dominant votes of each layer in with your first inhale an spicy (cinnamon) punch of incense and myrrh, half the sweetness of the full-bodied myrrh leaves and the almost edible Christmas treat gets into an spanish leather accord with now more dominant styrax added to the cinnamon and the omnipresent Incense, it's an spanish leather, an old withered one without any fat or musk left in, and finally it gets hardcore on the Incense and it's not a one dimensional one, with a divine touch of myrrh... The scent reminds me of very old home libraries, soaked old Spanish leather, wet carpet, expired church Incense and even beyond all the resembling scents it evokes certain feelings of being outdated, forgotten and alone in the modern world. It should be exprienced and it will ruin your shiny smile, darken your bright day and put you in the shoes of a manifestation of all that's been lonely. To whom do I recommend? If you like perfumery and scents as an art, try this, doesn't matter if you'll like to wear it or not, you'll enjoy its haunting journey, if you like the idea of a sad Kouros, damp woodies, old books, old damp Spanish leathers, church Incense, smokes this is for you, if you enjoy a little grief or the thought of death comforts you here's a cold dark welcome, eerie and melancholic, it's also a great parfum to layer and add smokiness. If you don't like Lars von Trier features, can't stand Schubert and are looking for sth to smell attractive stay away you're probably not ready. The sweetness isn't cute, the spices aren't playful, the Incense isn't passionate, the leather not kinky. It lasts a very long time (at least 10, probably 12+) and projects almost too much for first 3 hours (1 spray) and stays noticeable for many more after that. The transition starts with losing top notes and showing warmth of middle notes before presenting her full beauty with the undeniable darkness of base notes. Again a well done pyramid to represent the scent accurately. After many wearings I see a damp smoky Incense and cedar throughout as the main star which gets darker and less sweet and I love it more every passing hour. 🤎

Sorcinelli is a great storyteller, inspired by his native Marche region and its Catholic culture. In this fragrance, he captures the essence of a great story. A group of student priests, dressed in their black clerical robes, erupt from the chilly confines of the seminary to have a snowball fight. They dance for joy in the snow. The scene is captured on camera by Mario Giacomelli and when the seminary rector discovers the incident, the photographer is banned from ever entering the hallowed grounds again. He retreats to his darkroom, swathed in tobacco and goes on to create iconic images of the young men cavorting in the snow. Some time later one of the young men, now a priest, writes a poem capturing the human cost of the denial of desire, whose poignant opening line provides the photographer with the title of his portfolio and the perfumer with the name of his fragrance. In English translation it reads : " I have no hands to caress my face ..." Repression and subversion, agony and ecstasy, censorship and artistic creativity. These polarities seem to fascinate Sorcinelli as he expresses his own artistic freedom as perfumer alongside the demands placed upon him by convention. Like the seminarians, he wants to play and surprise. Like the photographer, he wants to create something unconventional. Like the priest-poet, he wants to give a voice to the thrill of 'sweet abandonment." So he creates a fragrance like Io Non Ho Mani. He takes the conventional pyramid of an Amber fragrance and turns it into a circle, like Giacomelli's famous image of the dancing priests. The opening has a huge cinammon-and-clove heft. Then resinous myrrh makes an appearance, entwined with a sweet floral note, until styrax and incense arise from the base and complete the sense impression of barely-suppressed sensuality. At each stage, the fragrance conjures images from Sorcinelli's narrative: the gloomy myrrh of the cloister, the spicy energy of the dance, the photographer's beloved tobacco and even the leather cape with which he covers his camera and works his creative magic. The whole thing is enveloped in dark and musky incense, with spices flickering forth every so often to lighten the mood. The dry down is a masterful fugue, interweaving the threads of the story to give a long-lasting impression of complexity, warmth and sensuality. Heart of Spice, Soul of Incense, Work of a Master.

🤦♂️ wow some of these comparisons are just so wrong. I like the comment below ‘Catholic Gourmand’. Other than that clove and cinnamon comments are misleading. The note table here will completely mislead you.” Though clove in part my be relevant to a degree as an analogous description to a small degree. One of my favourite most challenging scents I know. Most definitively not for everyone. Some people even voted this as unisex - oh my god no. A woman smelling of this 😂 So, it’s a bizarre ride more so related to Norne By Slumberhouse than anything else. It’s a phenomenally strong (it’ll make you cough - it even makes me wheeze sometimes - it’s so strong) camphorous, mentholic, dusty, green, dry herb, incensy, ambery oily syrup with a mix of god knows what else that makes you look at the note table and go WTF. About the only thing my brain can agree on is the dustiness and camphorous over tone (that makes me wheeze) is likely achieved with a phenomenally high quality cinnamon. Not that this smells per se of cinnamon. Yet somehow I’ve held onto this bottle. It’s not for professional presentation. It’s not for comfort. It’s not for feeling fresh. It’s not even for impressing people. It’s somewhat unsettling and I think that’s why it works for me. It’s kinda like a reset switch. It’s just borderline offensive - not that it smells like something traditionally offensive like faeces, urine or garbage etc but rather gets your brain thinking what on earth is that. Something medicinal, something ‘out there’ churchy or medieval or some undiscovered boggy marsh plant? Maybe another way to explain it is Dior Sauvage Elixir that’s be kidnapped by Dr Frankenstein and gone green, camphorous, dusty and incensey. Maybe Sauvage Elixir meets a vacuum cleaner dust bag and chilli oil lol. It’s a winter warming scent reset. Perhaps it’s grounding - classic Scorcinelli where he creates something that you’d only get if your mind is on his level. Don’t get me wrong - I’m not being facetious- this is just one of those scent in thousands that have come my way where the weirdness works - unlike so many that are marketing hype. It might grow on you if you persevere and you’re patient. Otherwise it’ll either work for you or won’t.

Thoughts on a sampling... * Been liking this quite a bit as I try to form my thoughts on it. * Tried it a half dozen times now and liked it every time. * Early on I get a predominant tobacco that caresses my face just right. * In the background there is a soft hint of cinnamon. Not of your spicy potpourri variety. Once again just right. * The Sage seems to act as a bridge between the Tobacco and the Cinnamon. * There is a hint of Ylang Ylang that gives it some dimension. * I keep bringing my wrist up to my nose and inhale with such a good feeling. It brings a smile to my face. * I guess I could say the scent caresses my face rather nicely. No need for hands here. * Having a hard time deciding if I like this as my favorite of the Unum line by Filippo Sorcinelli. * His fragrances along with the bottles are real works of art. I think that I am becoming a fan. * As with everything I've tried from the Unum line longevity and silage are a little sub par. * I wish Filippo could could find a way to increase the all around potency to his fragrances as they seem to come short of the finish line. * On the other hand (no pun intended) I am being quite honest in saying that the fragrances I have tried from this house so far are all superbly done. ** Final thoughts. It is a spectacular scent for no more than 3 hours. I am left wanting more. Instead I kind of feel cheated. Regardless I can see myself picking up a bottle some day when I have a little extra cash on HAND. But until then it is to be admired from afar. *** I have since purchased a full bottle and was pleasantly surprised by the way both potency and duration have doubled. It must be that there is a difference between sample dabbler and spraying it on. - The packaging novelty and bottle are superbly done.

Io Non Ho Mani Che Mi Accarezzino il Volto is a barnstormer of an oriental, opening with a vivid cinnamon stick meets sage accord with a lot of rosewood, incense, smoke, and resins buoying that up. As it develops it stays intensely spicy, but grows sweeter, with the Ylang becoming quite palpable - more like its aggressive cousin, Cananga - towards the heart, then more powdery and hay-like in the drydown. While there are certainly precedents for this scent - Comme des Garcons Eau de Parfum and Diptyque's L'Eau share the same penchant for wielding clove like a flaming sword - there's an orchestral density to it that makes it quite captivating among modern orientals. There's no subtlety, but there is complexity and nuance, and the notes bounce off each other in pleasing clashes around a cinnamon backbone. The heaviness; the blockiness of the texture makes it feel all of a piece rather than chaotic. I'm free associating at this point, but: the brass and siren sections from Varese's Ameriques; the Niagara Mohawk Building; Boccioni's The City Rises. There's a certain aesthetic of beauty-in-bombast that transcends what I can say about the notes themselves. I'm at the point in this hobby where I've smelled literally thousands upon thousands of perfumes, so while I continually smell things that smell "good" it takes a lot to really compel, fascinate, and move me the way this fragrance has.

What I get is a blast of galbanum, strongly supported by cinnamon, cloves, myrrh, geranium and styrax. This combo is nearly animalic, at such a point that I wondered if there wasn't some castoreum or civet in that one. The drydown does not have a very different evolution: the volume is just slightly turned down, and will allow a minty note (probably sage and ylang-ylang) to appear. And that's pretty much it, to my nose. When I tried it on paper in the store, I got a crush on it, but I'm glad I got a sample of this one before pulling the trigger: indeed, this one may be pretty hard to pull off because of its bold scent. That, coupled with a great performance (usually a strength), noticeably decreases its versatility. Furthermore, while the opening gives high hopes, after that it leaves a feeling of "unachieved" since it seems pretty linear. Fans of YSL Kouros and Amouage Opus VII will want to try this one (btw it shares similarities with the latter, even if I find Opus VII a little more wearable). $180 for a frag I'll pull once a year in my living room seems a little steep for my budget, but I will keep working on this one. Still, a love for me! Colder days, 30+

It reminded me of something familiar! Like other Filippo perfume from my collection, Notre Dame Notte di Natale, this one has a delicious cinnamon smell that you won't be able to get enough of. It's also citrussy, uplifting, ambery, and has a tinge of tobacco, which reminds me of how my fingers smelt when I smoked (musky?). The scent was also inspired by photographer Mario Giacomelli's really sweet photo (with the same title as a perfume, mind you) of young priests playing on a snowy day. And the bottle catches the white background, while the fabric-covered lid evokes the lively figures of priests rushing on snow. Truly a piece of art and a tragedy that I'll probably never possess because it smells comparable to Notre Dame, and there are other works by Filippo that I'd like to own, and each bottle remains a justifiably expensive investment.

Interesting... Initial opening resembles Deep Heat or some such medicinal camphorous joint rub or ointment. Whilst the notes in the table are represented including the cinnamon the overall impression is, as has been described a “garden dirt” spiced up maybe with some tea even. The cinnamon sweetness is muted and hidden. The dry down becoming a mentholated camphorous experience. A tarry asphalt smoke and leather somewhere in the background. Suggestions of citrus and cinnamon mislead as that is only noticeable nose to skin. Quite unusual and infact quite pleasant to me though I am sure it will not be for everyone. More a personal scent and curiosity not something to wear professionally. Definitely a gothic vibe and left of field choice.

this is the darkest and extraordinary scent I have ever experienced. from the beginning slightly citrus ... it becomes a smell of photographic film ... asphalt, incense.I leaves breathless, evokes melancholy, sadness and hope behind her cinnamon note. church, cemeteries, darkness of the soul, solitude, meditation. it is not a sad scent. is the scent of the lonely man who meditates, who is obscure but loves life. sorcinelli is an incredible character. and this fragrance tells all his story. organ, old books, bitter sweetness. this perfume sweeps into me my deeper and hidden memories and feelings. impressive force. 10/10 the finest perfume that exists.

This fragrance absolutely captures UNUM's aesthetic; esoteric, stark & foreboding, almost brutally atavistic. Fortunately, it happens to smell awesome. I read a review that mentions Big Red gum, that's an absurd comparison but it actually works. The incense and medicinal herbs lend the cinnamon a strong, mentholated sting that you feel while eating super-concentrated cinnamon candy; however, I don't want to give the impression that this is a friendly, floppy-eared scent. It's aromatic, resinous and dry, definitely suitable for scenting religious sacraments or old, bygone rituals

Picture: Whitesnakes of incense smoke, coming from a church during the night under a C(rescent) Moon. This blend was truly Made in Heaven. :^) What I'm saying is it has this real Gay Fashion Priest vibe, a real sexy nose experience that I'm loving. The aroma does remind me of the catholic churches I've been in, but steamier. Kind of a heavy body/skin scent. Maybe too much for day wear but I want to sleep in this every night. (too hard to work in a C-Moon pun so i gave up) edit: Beastly longevity. Over 24 hours and a shower later I can still smell it.
- em inglês
absurdly warm and spicy, this smells like straight up burnt incense, resin and cinnamon, tons of cinnamon. to me this feels weirdly edible, even though i wouldnt really call this a gourmand perfume, the signature sorcinelli incense is present and the perfume itself feels like a warm hug, for once i have no words to describe what im smelling, simply amazing. 9,5/10
- em inglês
Cinnamon, cloves, a warm body in a leather jacket, unsmoked cigarettes, like wearing a hug, something you want on you and to be close to, sunlight on wool, musky yet clean, a hint of soap. I love it. I want to nestle into it. I want to be nestled.

I got a 5 ml decant, but i think i want more of it. It is absolutely gorgeous, i wish it had more longevity. It is resinous and quite warm. Although not listed, it smells like cloves int the first half hour.

Very gorgeous churchy incense that reminds me of something old in Italia! Makes me smile when I smell it on myself!

The smell of cinnamon, tobacco, myrrh. Very interesting. Christmas in front a fireplace. A lot of layers and nuances. It made me crave some history behind it, this is what I found on the official website: "Olfactory tribute to Mario Giacomelli, who was one of the most famous photographers in the world, whom Filippo knew and lived in the soul. The name of the fragrance is the same as his project carried out in the seminar of Senigallia among the young in the dress cloth." Further googling lead me to see the mentioned photo project. It is... interesting. Priests playing in the snow. "I have no hands that caress my face", the translation of the perfume name and that series of works. It is very intriguing to see where the inspiration comes from. Definitely a rabbit hole of art and concepts, one referencing another... Great perfume, very confident, warm and sophisticated smell. Especially fitting right now, around Christmas holidays.

A modern and well behaved offspring of Zino by Davidoff and Comme des garçons edp (the original, here MUCH tamer) that has a huge beginning à la cinnamon chewing gum to transition pretty quickly into a balsamic medium performance scent that lasts for hours. I like this and will wear it in cool days, but after enjoying it for weeks I cannot lie: its 80s vibe makes me less enthusiastic more and more. I read here about this being complex and unique and in my humble experience it is pretty linear after the grand start and rather simple and deja vu. Fortunately, it smells modern and well blended, but it is far from being at the level of LAVS and OPUS 1144... A much safer choice than it seems...

There are some excellent reviews below me, not only with historical context, but good note deconstructions. As such, I won't rehash it, but give my impressions. My first impression was of a light cinnamon band aid. The cinnamon is not overpowering at all... And is nicely implemented. The cinnamon fades, and the band aid adhesive smell remains. It's not bad at all, and I really like it. Incense kicks in and gives it a slightly smoky vibe. It isn't super strong, and for the most part is a skin scent with medium low sillage. It's a great scent... And I'll need to spend more time with it to decide whether I've got enough scents that are similar, or whether it's worth a fb purchase.

This is a special fragrance. Quite heady. Blurring the lines between liturgical and psychedelic. The coexistence of ecclesiastical incense, vintage powdery florals, and warm baking spices add up to some big nag champa vibes. But that would be oversimplifying it. This is one of the more photorealistic incense frags, in my opinion. But there is so much more going on and it exudes an elegant, mystic, and vintage atmosphere that is greater than the sum of its parts. In short: incense, cinnamon, and powder. Lovely combo.
- em inglês
It's genuinely as cool as it looks. There is, indeed, an unmistakable clove-like note dominating the opening of this fragrance. Quickly and surely, the tobacco note emerges- heavy, dense, and slightly sweet- accompanied by a myrrh-incense accord. It's smoky, warm, and definitely slightly herbal. I also pinpointed the benzoin before checking the notes. It's quite unique, masculine, and very potent. Not your everyday scent, but a really good one for jazz clubs, boozy nights, and cold winter evenings. I really like it!

Sample 1.5 ml bought from Mood Scent Bar - Woody Characteristics - Foresty mood - Like a chalice of spices over a campfire - Cinnamon is prominent - Aniseed is noticeable - Projection is good, but not monstrous - Lots of spice but little sweetness (which I like)
- em inglês
I keep trying to like this, but I’ve come to the conclusion that it reminds me of a cross between Thrills gum and an old fashioned clove-scented urinal pisser cake.
- em inglês
Beautiful name for a pleasant perfume but not too original. Filippo Sorcinelli has excellent chances to do much better. For incense lovers it is a must.
- em inglês
catholic gourmand with enormous throw
- em inglês
After the spray i feel tobacco a lot and a little of incense, then cinnamon is coming stronger (too much for me). Very good longevity and good silage. Not so particular, it reminds me of L’Eau of Dyptique may be less spicey. I will give it more time to understand it better
- em inglês
Definitely a more masculine and darker scent from the Unum collection coming from the tobacco and cinnamon. Mixed with the floral notes adds sweetness and heaviness to it. On the dry down, the resins and incense comes out more and becomes a more classic Sorcinelli scent.

Im really sorry but i have no clue how to describe this. I dont hate it like lots of people in these reviews do but i just thinks its a bit weird tbh. This smells like something so far from the ordinary yet something that i have smelt before. weird

Clove spice soap. Fresh but coazy. Not sure where to wear it.

The worst fragrance I think I’ve ever smelled. It’s like my grandmas joint / muscle cream mixed with toothpaste and cloves. Who tf would ever want to smell like this? This is coming from a massive niche collector who looks at perfume as art. Do not blind buy this from the notes. Wow -1/10
- em inglês
Big Red gum! Spicy country cottage vibe.. Cinnamon is the star here not too raw/earthy, the floral plays second fiddle and works well, the other notes support and give a bit of depth but overall pretty straightforward and linear.

nah, i can't imagine people wearing this. really strange scent, I don't think that this is something to be weared. Nausea inducing. Love the bottle though

the clove and something metallic turns quite fishy on my skin, not a love!

Io Non Ho Mani Che Mi Accarezzino il Volto اندوه ...

This name gave from a poem by Father David Maria Turoldo in 1948 as below: . There are no hands to caress my face, I do not know the sweetness of your abandonment: I had to be the guardian of your loneliness I'm a savior of lost hours. . But it’s not all about this perfume concept. It’s a tribute to Mr. Mario Giacomelli which has a series of photographs with same name. This photos depict young priests life reality in church with focused on their loneliness, hopes & other challenges. . 📎the perfume bottle cap shape = the black bag where Giacomelli kept his camera and his cigars & the floating black cassocks in his mentioned photo series too. . 📎the metal of bottle = it is a wink to Mario Giacomelli’s body of camera . 📎the smell = based on Mr. Giacomelli character as a photographer which loved cigars with hints to the young priests photos story too. . About smell of this perfume: It’s an oriental spicy fragrance which opens with sparkly & bitterness bergamot meanwhile the Galbanum push it to the strong drug/medicinal vibe too. In middle cinnamon brings up a too loud warm spicy vibe beside Geranium & clary sage aromatic combination. The woodiness of Cedar & sandalwood in collaboration with incense, tobacco & benzoin made its rich dry down. It’s another classic fragrance from this house with their special incense signature. .

Review before me mentions clove overload, but I struggle with cinnamon overload. I cannot seem to grasp anything else, because cinnamon is always there in the front like some kind of gatekeeper. I need to take step back from it and leave it for the winter. I already own it, because I fell in love in cold, cold store, but now i understand that summer heat is not friendly with this, it feels like a completely different frag now. I hope to fall in love again as the cold weather hits us. Design is Devine. It spoke to me immediately. If you see it in person, you understand. The artistry just spills out from every corner. It is an experience to use this frag. The wooden part of the cap seems to not hold the paint as it chips, but it is not visible due to the huge leather covering of the cap, but thats besides the point. It is worth the price in any way shape or form, just needs appropriate conditions to wear it.

The long Italian name translates to ' I Have No Hands That Caress My Face ', a 1963 photo series by Italian photographer Mario Giacomelli & this perfume is an olfactory tribute. The photographs, set in Bishop's seminary in Senigallia, capture young priests, playing on a snowy day, wearing black cassocks. Now the perfume - before trying it, from what I had read, I had imagined it to be an overly spice oriented scent & that it's strange & wondered if it'd be wearable. My first tryst with the scent changed all such assumptions. It's unusual, probably the most individualistic of all Sorcinelli perfumes. It has a cinnamon nuance & it is incensey, but supremely so, perfectly balanced by the citruses & all other notes. It leans masculine, can't pinpoint why, probably with the undertone of tobacco & the way it's done. Blessed to have it in my collection. IG : @scentclouds YouTube : @scentclouds

"There are no hands to caress my face" dear reader, please go and search the 1960s photo series that inspired this (same name). the fragrance is a stunning interpretation of those haunting, mythical, elemental images. cinnamon and citrus lead strong in the start, but they manage to temper each other for balance. after that it's the clary sage, incense, and resins. this stage is well-balanced too, because the green lightens the heavier notes. the other notes, though not as prominent, are still important contributions - especially the tobacco and ylang-ylang. I think they help to lend a "fresh garden dirt" feeling that I love. which helps steer it away from being too sterile or medicinal. this is a serious scent. more for the art gallery opening than the farmer's market. but I could totally see this being a daily wear for a creature out there - someone quiet but with strong presence.

Out of all the samples I've tried from Unum, this one is somehow the strangest. I like it a lot and find it somehow unsettling. It is medicinal, for sure, with a cinnamon but also herbal dimension. But it also has a certain stale smoke and wood feeling, like the closet in someone's house who maybe smokes a pipe. It smells like someplace I'm not supposed to be and I can't put my finger on it precisely. I don't even feel like getting into what notes I'm smelling because it's so much more than a simple combination of notes, this is much more unusual than that. I didn't know the origin story for this when I started writing, and somehow I got that this is the fragrance of something forbidden. I just read the story, and now it makes perfect sense. It smells like bitter sadness and loneliness.

Cinnamon gum meets minty toothpaste. Huge myrrh, & galbanum on a burned cinnamon powder with some hot peppery cinnamon flavor gum and minty toothpaste. It has sage but less than tobacco ashes! Amber, petigrin, and styrax are clearly there but mixed within the groups above! Geranium is there as well. I feel sweaty as i applied it on my skin! it's quite hot! chili hot and makes me sweat more and more! This is weird tho and i don't know if ill classify it as chaos cause it sounds it is! Really weird but fair to be honest. Edit (8th Aug 2023) the explanation i did above is quite the perfect one indeed after around 5 years! more to that, the cooldown is very addictive! it IS peppery hot but more of a beauty minty hot mix spices. Beautiful.

HaraldK, means: I Am Alone. the bottle make me sad. Is it inspired to The Death? Recall me those ghost full of torn rags in Harry Potters. Dementors. Mrs Rowling has in fact declared she was inspired by depression in creating those creatures. The notes sounds interesting but, thank you, I wouldn't have that thing into my house even if it wasa present. PS: I would translate this name in "I don't have any hand which caress my face" (I do not have the hands of anybody caressing my face) and it seems to be the title of the book of a photographer. Dancing Priests on the cover. Maybe the perfume is a sort of incense camaraderie.

I fully agree with TWN2RBO I love the art behind niche perfumes and love the way how they can challenge you and surprise you. That being said, this is just horrible. Which is a shame cause I almost want to buy it because of that gorgeous looking bottle. Someone mentioned tiger balm which is a good description. Add some herbal qualities and a medicinal and slightly animalic touch and you are not far off. I can’t imagine what the general public would think of this if us perfume nerds are hesitating. One of the few misses from Sorcinelli. I love a lot of his creations but this was so off putting for me. What a shame

Edit to say: Literally the smell of tigerbalm without the menthol. This is Herbal and medicinal like Zoologists Moth but without the honey note and more of a cinnamon/amber touch. Reminds me of a wood church but the incense isn't as strong as say LAVS or Reliqvia. I love my weird medicinal perfumes so I am so happy with this one. Thank you to the reviewers who said cinnamon gum and tiger balm, that was what I needed to add it to cart and yes i can smell those with the Amber. If you like Moth, you will love this!

A medicinal touch, tiger balm but not as camphorous (only a few seconds in the overture) and sweeter. Very smoky notes with dry bay leaf that could also be the sage that is declared in the pyramid. Spirit-stimulating spices. Maybe it's my skin, or an olfactory impression, but I also detect a powdery dimension. A iturgical and different mixture that pushes our olfactory limits a little further, feeding them with a new smell.

Warm, white and fuzzy, just like the photos it references. Lots of powdery benzoin and myrrh with a touch of citrus at the top, scads of spicy eugenol but not floral. Like those weird types of chalky sweets turned into necklaces. It’s comforting with a hint of danger. Not the most unwearable of Sorcinelli’s work, not by a long shot! I really love Marco Giacomelli’s work too, it’s worth a look.
