La Voglia d'aMare

Wasn’t a fan on first try, but wearing it now on a warm spring day, I think I get it now. I’m really starting to see it. It’s a fascinating, dirty yet fresh, masculine coconut. I smell familiar accords from within Pont Max and Notre Dame Notte di Natale in here. There’s fresh menthol atop smooth coconut, a fine, weightless powder, a damp earth and ancient incense-soaked buildings overgrown, detritus of aromatic vegetation and foliage. There is some industrial quality to it, but it is not obvious or unwelcome. Really creative and complex. Strong and enormous on initial spray but settles nicely into something well-balanced and elegant. Wonderfully atmospheric. An ancient clergyman on the beach. Tropical Vatican. Something serious and refreshing all at once. In my opinion it’s one of the standout fragrances by Filippo. Easily in the top 3. While many of his scents are polarizing, aggressive, or far too unbalanced, he seems to strike a harmonious chord every so often with something sincere and effortless, something with surprising ingenuity that changes what I think I know about what I like in a fragrance. His works are worth wading through to find the few that speak a long lost language to you; one without words and of a familiar, panpsychic memory.

A contrast between material comfort [beautiful house, large automobile] and existential questioning [well, how did I get here]. Wearing La Voglia d’aMare and listening to Once in a Lifetime by Talking Heads share a similar emotional architecture for me because both evoke that uncanny sensation of being fully present in a moment, and yet strangely outside of it. It’s the fragrance equivalent of that catatonic state I find myself in when driving long distances on an American interstate and suddenly realizing the scenery has changed around me. La Voglia d’aMare isn’t a warm memory for me, it’s a lucid one. It's consciousness slightly detached, looking around and quietly asking: “Well, how did I get here?” Sorcinelli's originality, creativity, and absurdity is overtaking fellow Italians Gualtieri and Imprezzabile. He has created my favourite perfume (questo) and my most hated perfume (Vento Forte Extrait). Phénoménal! Magnifico!

Whatever you were expecting from a coconut fragrance, this is the opposite of that. It’s the furthest thing from a sweet, lactonic sunscreen type fragrance imaginable. Smoke, pine resin, and a vanilla heavy amber float at the top. Something about that pine resin and the smoke notes combine to create the impression of tobacco. Underneath those is the creamy, meaty texture of coconut, and a soft and powdery floral. This perfume is a must sample, it’s so interesting and fun to experience. It really made me think about how texture is conveyed in perfume and what it adds to the experience. It also tells a story, something not all perfumes manage to do. The dry down on this is an incensey musk, and is completely benign and unassuming and easy; it comes in at about 3.5 hours into the perfume’s life on the skin, and hangs around for several more hours. La Voglia D’aMare has arms length sillage.

A little bit smoky (almost cigarette ashy) juicy ( almost creamy) coconut. It has some sunscreen/handcream vibe too. For me its like you would leave a bounty chocolate, some cigarette and some really expensive handcream to melt together on a beach and than you would take a bite of it with a little spoon also on the beach but at night. I can't decide which season does it fit the most. I bought it for the summer but honestly i would wear it all year around, maybe even more in the winter for a summer-nostalgic moment. Performance wise is way above average. Its loud in the first hours and stays on ur skin/ cloths about 7-8 hours. its the loudest from the line but not the longest lasting one. ( i also own Dolcissimo Sollievo and Luce Dei Cuori) Maybe it didn't have enough time to macerate. Its complex and simple at the same time. Its loud. Its quality. Great addition to my collection!

This fragrance was a great addition to my collection, I just love it! In terms of summer, what we get is not quite the usual composition, but it works great and, in my opinion, leans to be masculine. For me, it's mostly dusty dry coconut, a little powdery, slightly citrus fruity during the drydown and has a deep scent. The overall effect is a bit like an unusually dark, grayer, serious-toned powdery, perhaps earthy, slightly fruity luxury sunscreen. Or maybe it gives the impression of a gray, slightly fruity wax from certain undertones? I definitely love wearing it! We get an absolutely wearable, delicate, non-boring and pleasant composition that avoids any kind of offensive impression. Performance is fine, the intensity is also absolutely correct! I think it could work well from spring to fall.

This is a true coconut fragrance, it's rich balsamic, burned coconut shell mixed with a rich coconut milk, it has texture, depth, it's bold, you can taste it, absolutely fantastic. If you were to compare it to similar products, it would be like comparing a rally with an F1 race, the first requires skill, endurance courage, insanity, inovation, a proper space between the drivers legs to make room for his 'sac' ; the latter is full of regulations, futile rules, limits, basically in the past years the F1 has lost it's pedigree. The same is to be said about perfumers , although most might and can, their opinion is limited by companies aiming to please a majority, tearing down the very foundation of perfumery: the freedom and creativity.

The fragrance opens with a rich note of pine tar , resinous, slightly smoky, with a balsamic undertone. Despite the intensity of the opening, this note feels soft and cozy. Personally, I found it very intriguing and atmospheric! Over time the scent transforms, bringing coconut cream to the forefront, delicate and subtly sweet. Combined with warm amber and powdery iris they create a sense of comfort and coziness. Everything blends harmoniously, seamlessly and pleasantly. Overall, the composition evokes associations with a soft blanket, forest freshness and a sweet- creamy warmth. A very pleasant, atmospheric and delightfully unusual fragrance.

Sorcinelli could bottle pure ethanol and I would likely wear and rave about it. La Voglia d'aMare opens with notes of pine-tar and tangerine, giving a first impression that’s smoky, slightly resinous, and a bit salty like driftwood or wet stone after a late summer rain. As it dries down, it reveals subtle coconut cream and iris-root accents that soften the roughness with a powdery, slightly creamy smoothness. The base lingers as oak-moss, musk, amber which for me whispers of almost mineral dampness. This is one of my Sorcinelli favourites.

It is a punch in the face, how potent it is. I love it, though, but in small doses, preferably on my husband rather than on myself. But that aside, it is very unique, not like anything I ever smelled before. Seems to be true to the notes if I try to distinguish notes. I think of this perfume as something very hot and dry and sticky, cloying, and suffocating you, but in a way that is sort of enjoyable. Anywho, it's thumbs up from me and thumbs down from whomever wanted to read a useful review lol

My first review (below this one) didn't do this justice. It's not just 'very nice', it's complex, it's fascinating, it's dark, it's atmospheric. This will 100% be a part of my small seven bottle collection. I also agree with another reviewer that it isn't a summer fragrance. For me it's definitely autumn/winter vibes. Now I've spent more time with it, I appreciate it so much more. Phenomenal!

This is my second signature scent that I mix with one other to make the perfect scent profile IMO. It's so good it makes me want to cry and I feel emotionally attached to it. I have tried over 50 scents at least searching for that perfect sweet, dark, mossy scent that has it all and even though I had to later this one with an even earthier, mossy scent to double down its perfect in every way.

Beginning starts like an earthy coconut sunscreen with the iris and tangerine as the star. Lasting power of 10 hours as of today and has dried down to this earthy vanilla oakmoss that is still strong and present. Very impressed with how good this works for end of summer on days where it is cold in the morning and then gets hot again. Looking forward to wearing this all year round as well.

This is a brilliant masterpiece. Smoke, earthy, creamy. Imagine the scent left behind on your fingers after smoking a cigarette but combined with a luxurious coconut hand cream. One of the best fragrances I have ever smelled, and it lasts for ages. This one was a love at first sniff.

It's like someone has smeared a rotten stump with coconut hand cream, and a plastic tent is burning nearby. Camping is going well. Could this even be a perfume? Hell yeah, and it's damn good!

Another love at first sniff for me. A new take on coconut, and a great one. Earthy, realistic, green, but creamy and sweet at the same time.

It's very nice. It reminds me of Matiere Premiere's Vanilla Powder, but this has more of an edge to it and is certainly better.

The number of times I’ve encountered a coconut forward perfume that doesn’t go the fruity-floral-suntan lotion direction and actually leans classically masculine probably wouldn’t take up all of the fingers of one hand. Sorcinelli pulls it off quite well. The natural bedfellows of citrus fruit and pine resin start off the perfume, but, as typical of Sorcinelli’s compositions, they depart too quickly for you to fully appreciate them. You better sniff frequently within the first small number of minutes after applying La Voglia because they will very soon be gone. They usher in the stars of the perfume: coconut and orris nestled on a bed aromatic and smokey woods and moss. The coconut is creamy, unctuous, and tropically nutty as we’d expect, but it’s also quite restrained and well rounded. Again, suntan lotion this is not. The orris claims a significant amount of credit for this character, its lightly powdery purple florals, and cool and refined starchiness, make sure the coconut doesn’t go full-on tropical cocktail. No less important are the mosses reaching up from the base. The clean, damp, woody note of the moss helps the orris maintain decorum. Touches of incense smoke from the light and balsam forward amber base provide very pleasing depth, with the final skin scent retaining a slight bit of the coconut character via creamy vanillics and the incense has disappeared into the balsams. This is a very noteworthy attempt at a unique handling of coconut, and overall very solid work. The issues typical of Sorcinelli’s extraits remain, that of poor durability and diffusion, which gives me a big pause when asking myself if this is full bottle worthy; my skin can be no greater than eight inches from my nose in order to smell it all, and after a couple of hours the distance is nearly halved. But it is nonetheless uniquely pretty and fun to wear.

To me this has a very green, salty coconut smell. It definitely opens with a touch of asphalt which i like but eventually becomes softer and more woody. This instantly made me crave a mango salad from my local Thai place, it's mouth-wateringly fresh and very strong. I'm not a big fan of tropical scents, probably just because they feel out of place in my region, but this is so summery that I'm making an exception.

Smokey Coconut & Vanilla. It's a very paradoxical scent that it goes both ways with its profile, for the cold and for the warm. I enjoy it but, It's not my style personally. Trying this from a sample I got from a fragrance I bought. It's worth a sample though because It is very pretty overall.

On my skin, I get a woody, well-balanced vanilla. Out of the notes listed, I can smell a bit of the coconut note; nonetheless, this fragrance surprised me. I enjoyed wearing it
