Santa Casa

Well balanced, raw effective resinoids, laid on soft sea notes. One of the most beautiful out of the whole collection.

Soft marine note with slight shower gel association, interspersed with lovely tobacco and some resins. This one is somewhat interesting. This whole line is intriguing and well-made. Notre Dame might be my favourite simply because the incense in it is at the forefront. There are also a few that are not for me, such as Rosa Fiorita, Chiesa d'Oro, or Domm. As far as tastes go, it's ridiculous to think there is such a thing as "objective" taste. Something can be well crafted and still be in bad taste at the same time, it just depends on what standard someone judges it. And any such standards are arbitrary. If anything, this review section is proof of that, the deleted comment found these to be in "bad taste", and someone later disagreed - in a world where objective taste is a thing we could point to some measurable metric and say who is correct or wrong. Since we cannot do that, the "correct/wrong" dilemma is just our opinion seeking a moral justification for itself. As for my opinion regarding the bottles, they strike me as artistic and thought-provoking as, unlike most of the others, they made me think about them and what they stand for, but at the same time the oversized hands look rather bizarre in the aesthetic sense of things. In the practical sense of things, as a cap for a bottle, they're awful.

A strange mix of sea notes, incense, and amber. Reminds me of Lorenzo Pazzaglia Artik Sea. Dries down to a warm tobacco-tinged mix of incense and leather. Impressive longevity, moderate sillage. In the mid, there's a huge whiff of aldehydes. I can't believe it's not a listed note, as it dominates the majority of this fragrance.

Santa Casa is a marine perfume - or, rather, it is for a very important part of its life. That’s a touchy genre for a lot of people, so pay close attention or move on. There is a massive ozonic note in the opening coupled with fleshy and sweet oranges, frankincense, a bit of cured pipe tobacco, and rose. But, again, you really have to pay attention to it; a simple quick sniff off of a blotter, or on someone’s skin passing by, will probably only provide you with fruit and ozone, and you will likely simply wave it off right there and why wouldn’t you. With some dedicated time, and skin heat, I’m finding this to be one of the more interesting marine perfumes I’ve smelled in a while, and certainly one of the most interesting ones from Sorcinelli. I have a bone to pick though, and I’m not sure the credit mentioned above is deserved. The reason: immediately upon application the top and heart layers merge into just one layer, and that tells me that Santa Casa - even for an extrait - is going to suffer the same issues that many of Sorcinelli’s other perfumes have: poor longevity, performance, and durability especially for an extrait concentration. Santa Casa is going to reach its final skin scent very quickly, therefore I better be paying close attention to these first few minutes to an hour or so. When I do, it’s very enjoyable. The massive ozonic note isn’t clawing away at my nose, it’s quite fresh and misty. The orange is no different from what I’d smell if I squeezed some ripe navel oranges into a glass for my breakfast. The frankincense wafts gently, and provides a very natural partner for the cured pipe tobacco that is still a touch green. The rose is powdery pink and fruity, full of life and joy. But, I was right. In roughly the same amount of time it took me to write my bullet points that formed the paragraph above (few minutes) did the perfume already start shifting to the skin scent dry down of a vanillic, incense, musky, sandalwood amber that is about as interesting as a roll of toilet paper - and quite repetitive for Sorcinelli at this point. Damn the luck. Santa Casa was - briefly - one of the most interesting perfumes I’ve yet to smell from the brand, but it collapses under its own frailty and descends into very common derivation. If only that bizarre ozonic-orange-tobacco-rose stage lasted quite a bit longer, and the base carried the theme rather than present the same-old-same-old, I would find myself really enjoying this. But it didn’t, so I don’t.

So I smell this and a perfumery shop in Barcelona and then my girl actually bought it for me surprise me with it for my birthday so I could say that the Marine notes in there are a bit odd together but after the dry down they mash well together the tobacco that's in there is at best in the background but it's nice I definitely get a hint of like a seaweed when you first spray it but it is definitely a masculine smell like I wouldn't see any female wearing this at all I do believe that his artistic views in these fragrances because I smell all of these with the hand on them and this is probably my most favorite one all the rest of them are very eccentric and very niche not for the person is just starting but overall the scent is pretty good for the older gentleman I would say anybody under 30 I wouldn't see them wearing this.

Very smoky, the smoke overpowers almost everything else. Due to the marine/salty elements I kind of smell smoked fish? There is something sweet in it, maybe chocolate? I get a hint of tobacco, but mostly just smoke. I can also detec the orange but it is very faint, it only provides a light aroma and a tiny bit of sweetness. If you are into smokey fragrances, this could be interesting to try, but personally, for me it doesn't work.

To me it was a rather strange and a bit unsettling concoction of aquatic marine notes with that of smoky/incensy tobacco I got a bit of a seaweed vibe and a bit of smoke - reminded me a bit of Malt by Akro

@framorena We can *objectively* consider something as bad or ugly. It is not relative. And it is not the case for these bottles. They are well crafted. They look like actual hands sculpted in gold or stone. The colors and shapes are on point. The container for the fragrance is also well crafted. This is creative. You are wrong in saying it is of bad taste. But creating a bottle shaped like a gold bar (1 Million) or a shoe (Good Girl)... well, these are objectively ugly.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't catch the sea note here. Instead, I can definitely say that this scent is all about smokiness at night with a touch of cedar. This one is very smoky—really very smoky. However, some people might perceive it as the smell of smoked foods. After about 30–100 minutes, a little jasmine starts to appear, but the fragrance is still mainly about the smokiness. For some people, it may even smell like smoke from burned wood or something similar.

@framorena8 There’s nothing lower on the “bad taste” spectrum than trolling message boards to hate-post something you’ve never even tried and are under no obligation to purchase. Go TikTok yourself getting outraged over dirty song lyrics, Karen, we don’t need your input here.

An extremely resinous, ambery, and slightly smoky rose with lingering sweetness in the background. Not my cup of tea as I hate rose and I feel that it’s being smothered by the other domineering accords it’s paired with
