Trompette 8

The most intoxicating, androgynous, and violently gothic fragrance. Imagine smudged black kohl, pallid skin, and the cold embrace of steel jewelry. Upon my skin, I get a potent smoky, resinous incense, unfurling like tendrils of shadow. I perceive little evolution as it dries down, yet I am entranced by its scent. I cannot cease from inhaling its dark allure when wearing it. This is assuredly not a fragrance for the faint of heart.

This doesn’t evoke a cathedral for me, nor does it bring to mind brassy musical instruments—there’s nothing metallic or smoky here. Instead, it opens with pure elemi and a very natural feeling pink pepper accord. What follows is a smooth, beautiful resinous blend that feels effortless and refined. Honestly, it’s the kind of thing I could easily imagine Profumum Roma releasing. Super nice.

It's nice, but I think the elemi is too pronounced in this one for me... It's cold but comforting at the same time, don't get much pepper! I prefer the other from the music collection! It's not bad, it's actually lovely, but I wouldn't spend on a full bottle!

a fresh incense, rich in elemi, slightly spicy and peppery, resinous, I would not say too metallic. An incense with character, certainly not very clerical, balsamic,a punch on the face, yes, a loud sound of a trumpet. 5/10 excellent performances

Whether or not every note in the pyramid exists in this perfume is beside the point: all of them work to solely and completely present an elemi accord. Elemi is resinous and waxy, fruity smelling like a mix of Meyer lemon and mandarin orange, piquant and a bit peppery, and with a bitter green edge. First up, you get plenty of peppercorns and a spicy chili pepper; there is your waxy fruity, piquancy, and pepperiness of elemi in spades. These dry down to resinous incense, aromatic cedar, bergamot zest, and the mandarin-Meyer lemon fruitiness; resins, aromatics, bitter greens, and citrus - check, check, check, check. Labdanum provides more resinous and white aromatic balsamic facets, and even here at the base as throughout the rest of the perfume, the labdanum has been made to push the bright earthy and aromatic facets of elemi all the way. If you love elemi resin, you’ll love Trompette 8 - which is good, because you’re not going to get anything else.

This is easily the worst of the Extract de Musique collection. Did not like the drydown at all.

Addictive dark pepper incense with a contrasting brightness that must come from the citrus but it is so well blended you can't pick out a certain citrus note, they somehow create such a sexy contrast. With the light and dark, there is this heat, spice from the chilli pepper and I think pink pepper too and to my nose, something metallic or gunpowder-y. This is so unusual, well blended and such a sexy dominating fragrance but the problem is I think it is too masculine for me. It doesn't actually smell masculine and I as a girl, love the way it smells, so i don't know why i feel like I can't pull it off. I keep umm-ing and ahh-ing if I should keep my bottle or let it go because I just don't reach for it enough but then when I smell it im like 'ughh this is soooo good'. I have so many incenses though so I just don't know 😩 I would love to smell this on a man honestly. So I can huff him and not have to 'pull off' this fragrance.

This wears very light on my skin, lighter than LAVS. There's something comforting about it. It's intimate on my skin & needs to be a personal scent, for personal moments of reverie. The peppery opening is not a punch in the face, as in entirety it's all so subtle. The elemi, pronounced on my skin, is cohesive with the incense, all like a trance or fog. A later offering from Filippo's ' Extrait De Musique 'collection, it speaks of the trumpet register, one of the oldest organ registers of Notre Dame. The cap reproduces the tie rod of the great Parisian organ. It projects intimate & has moderate longevity on my skin. This one is for incense lovers, who are looking for a soft & nuanced variation. Not sure why there's hate for this fragrance, especially for the drydown. Needless to say, I disagree completely. It's a gorgeous, rich, balsamic fragrance with incense and smoke. Think soaring cathedral ceilings, elaborate, embroidered vestments, and booming organ music. It's a love for me!

complex and piney frankincense -- masculine in aspect. more white pepper than black to my nose. deep mood, not too strong. definitely worth a sample!!
